  • Mac os Sierra, Dictation and speech pain missing from system preferences

Hi, it's Stephen. I've upgraded to mac os Sierra, and now, for some reason, Dictation and speech is missing in system preferences. It is preferably pain that I use to activate enhanced dictation, which is a feature that allows the use of dictation, even in offline mode. I reported the problem/bug to apple and I called him support Apple Care technical on this subject yesterday. Can someone tell me why Apple took dictation and the word of the preferences system Mac os Sierra? Or was it just an accident? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

It was not withdrawn. There is a tab in the keyboard preferences. And there is more in the accessibility preferences.

Open the Finder. In the Finder menu bar, click go > go to folder

Click OK, and then place the file com.apple.dock.plist in the trash.

Restart your Mac, then try to open the system preferences of the dock.

  • The sound system preference and Callnote

I installed Callnote to record Skype sessions, but I found that it was interfering with the audio system so I uninstalled using AppCleaner. However, I have always had a rest of Callnote in the input and output peripheral windows from the Sound System Preferences: How can I get rid of him?

Also (in the spirit of BOGOF - buy one get one free), it's annoying that my startup to open Safari, it starts but does not show a window - I always click on the Safari icon in the Dock. This started to happen with Yosemite, I think; until a window appears automatically. I presume that it does not show because "Hide Safari" is an inalterable permanent choice in the Safari drop-down menu, but why is this so when no other application has this selected permanently?

Don't know about the first part, but for Safari, try going to system preferences/general and uncheck the narrow windows when you exit an application.

  • System preferences requires that my password for Google accounts - legitimate?

Never seen that before. You want to know if I should answer with my passwords or not.

If you use your Mac with an active firewall I guess that his Apple. There is always a chance, but he wants no doubt for is Mail (check if you are connected) or calendar/hangouts in messages app. Go to System Preferences, then Internet accounts and make sure your google account is connected. If it is, I guess you could probably ignore the message unless he shows a particular reason to connect (IE messages like etc.).

    Hope this helps!

  • Not reflected in the network system preferences utility airport settings

    Airport Express model A1264

    Airport Utility 5.6.1

    Firmware 7.6.7

    MacBook OS 10.6.8

Hello, I am trying to sort out why the Airport utility settings are not the same as the settings in system preferences > network > airport.  If I make a change in Airport utility, it does not change the settings in advance under network options in system preferences and vice versa.  Network names are the same and all other parameters, except the IP numbers are different. (Note: when asked to "Join other network" one and only network name I entered comes up.) All this occurred as a result of a new service by satellite being installed in our premises (I'm in Australia and we have a 'NBN Satellite' service).  IP address in system preferences > network seems to be the IP number, I received when the new system has been activated and the computer that is directly connected by ethernet cable to the modem.   The IP address of the Airport utility is the Airport Express IP number.  I guess that the first IP address is correct as I can connect the MacBook to the internet via Airport. To complicate things, it is that I have the additional problem of not being able to join the network using my MacBook Pro (OS utility 10.10.5, Airport 6.3.5). I get a message telling me to another computer is using IP number again xxxxxxxx test this last (or something similar).  I did originally a default zero value through the Airport utility menu using the MacBook (actually several times), but no change in system preferences > network settings. I think I should add the MacBook Pro Airport utility on the MacBook (which I have) to join the network created on the MacBook.   I use the MacBook for the e-mail and the spread of the internet, and the MacBook Pro should be able to join the network for software and other upgrades. The Airport Express has worked without problem for at least 4 years on our old satellite service. Thanks in advance for your consideration.

I'm trying to sort out why the Airport utility settings are not the same as the settings in system preferences > network > airport.

Setting affects only the Airport express airport utility. They do not change anything on the computer.

Setting in the preferences of the computer only affect the computer... They do not change anything on the express.

IP address in system preferences > network seems to be the IP number, I received when the new system has been activated and the computer that is directly connected by ethernet cable to the modem.

Are you a public IP address on the computer? In the old system, you most likely have a private IP address.

The computer really should NOT directly connect a modem... only a modem which has several ethernet ie is actually a router.

That will tend to make it more difficult to set up the express. The express should plug a pure modem... and then the computer plug in the express. In this case, the express would be the main router. (I don't like this setup but because the Express is not powerful enough for this job). As far as your express is the old N a wireless with a single ethernet port.

Honestly, do you a favor and buy another router from apple... the extreme... If you can't afford a new Gen6 then buy a Gen5 on ebay... around $60... immensely better.

The express can then extend the wireless... or just simply do serve airplay etc. as part of the network.

Tell us what model is the modem (+ router?) provided to you by your ISP?

And if you get a public IP address or private on the computer directly connected to it. We can work out the rest from there.

I'm in Melbourne... you can email me direct if you need to. Email is on my website.

  • Dictation & speech; Impossible to find in system preferences?

I want to use the dictation & speech using Mac OS X, v 10.7.5.  Can't find listed in system preferences?  No matter what work-around?

Dictation & Speech is a default value of system preferences. What do you see an empty box, nothing. A screenshot would be useful command + shift + 4.

  • Key feature missing from system preferences option

    • Instructions for Apple supports page says:
    • "Click the Apple menu in the upper left corner of the screen, and select System Preferences.
    • Click on the keyboard icon, then check the box marked "use all F1, F2, keys as standard function keys etc.

    BUT...

As shown in the screenshot, I have not this box, they tell me to check... Running the latest OS, El Capitan 10.11.5 on 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5, with 16 GB of Ram.

The only option is to reinstall the OS?

Why would something like this happen?

    Thanks for all the ideas...

Using an Apple keyboard or 3rd party one?

    Restart in safe mode

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning - Apple Support

If only it does not, you can try to uninstall your wacom device and disconnect it from the computer.

  • Problems of system preferences

I had this problem for some time. I tried all of the solutions that I can find online, without success. However, I noticed today that when I have open Preferences (Apple menu) system, it says 'Network' at the top rather than 'System Preferences '. It just freezes and finally gives the rotation color wheel, and I am obliged to Com/Opt/Esc out of it.

    Here are the recent logs:

23/06/16 6:29:07.430 PM com.apple.preference.network.remoteservice [592]: objc [592]: class ANPTopLevelService is implemented in /System/Library/PreferencePanes/Network.prefPane/Contents/XPCServices/com.apple.preference.network.remoteservice.xpc/Contents/MacOS/com.apple.preference.networ k.remoteservice and System/Library/PreferencePanes/Network.prefPane/Contents/MacOS/Network. Please read this message before doing anything.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It is unlikely to solve your problem. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

The test is intended to determine if the problem is caused by a third-party software that loads automatically at startup or logon, by a device, by a police conflict or corruption of system files or some system caches.

Disconnect all devices wired except those required to test and remove all the expansion cards from secondary market, as appropriate. Start in safe mode and log on to the account of the problem.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. Ask for additional instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things work at all, including an audio output and a Wi - Fi connection on some models. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.

The login screen is displayed even if you usually connect automatically. You need your password to log on. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

Test in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and make sure you always have the problem. View the results of the test.

  • Accidentally deleted system preferences!

Hello, I accidentally deleted my system preferences and have read recently that I can order a new disc with my serial number, however... I didn't buy my new laptop. I bought a school that has been selling macbook air for cheap, so I would have no way to receive the disks that came with him or serial number. Please help me to recover the system preferences! Very bad with computers and have no other way to address this issue! Thank you! :))

You can only restore it by reinstalling OS X. Doing that depends on which version of Mac OS X you have currently installed but you chose not to provide this information, or what exact model of the MBA you have.
