  I have a 2009 15 "MacBook Pro C2D 2.66 with 8 GB of ram and a 480 GB SSD as my main drive. I will be to install a secondary HARD drive in the optical Bay. I want a 250 GB partition for a boot camp and 750 GB partition which can be read by OS X and Windows. 750Go partition will be used mainly on the side of the OS X to store photos, movies, music and documents but would be like training camp to access incase I need a file or two. I have already twisted boot camp to allow a windows usb installation and wonder what to do next steps are. I have read several forums and it's possible but instructions on the forums seem to be a specific user. Thanks in advance.

  1. on your specific Mac, windows should be on the main drive Bay. It will be also problems to start.

  2. do not modify the Info.plist Bootcamp and try the USB installation. You spend hours trying and it will fail.

  3. you must use the internal optical drive, integrated to install Windows on the main drive Bay.

  4. Once Windows is installed and fully functional, you can then replace the Optibay drive.

  5. do not throw your optical drive. If you need to repair Windows, you will need to return to the standard hardware configuration.

  6. you can have problems even under normal circumstances with a dual Setup, so be prepared for adventures in such a configuration.

  Any help would be appreciated.

  I tried to install these 'important' updates several times with the same result - updates failed, error 800b0100 code. I downloaded and installed the KB974821 tool - tells me it installed - same problem. (I don't know if I'm supposed to do something else with KB974821 - I have to "run" or just "installed" it enough?) Instructions could certainly be clearer)

  I tried to download and install the updates manually - without success - I get various error messages, like "does not apply to your system" or "for a different hardware platform.

  I tried this with my firewall/antivirus close as well - using Trend Micro - and still no luck.

  Thoughts, comments, suggestions, help? Very much appreciated. Thank you.

  
  

  BTW, I'm running VHP 64 with Service Pack 2 installed. Nothing should be this complicated or frustrating.

  ????  I'm not sure I understand your question. You download the drivers to a place, you will find them, as the office. If you want to put them on a USB stick, copy the files downloaded to the key and take it to the computer target. Copy the files on the computer desktop. Double-click on a file and it will unpack the installation routine starts. Follow the installation wizard. Reset when said to repeat as needed until all the drivers, etc are installed.   What happens when it stops it is have a Sata driver. It is on the drivers cd you received with your computer. You can also start the computer and press F2 to enter the bios. From there down to Configuration system - SATA Operation and change this to ATA. It is located to AHCI. Save the changes and restart the installation. Once you have loaded Windows and drivers installed, you will need to go back to AHCI.
