An 'unknown device' Compaq 6530 b still

I bought a new Compaq 6530 laptop b comes with XP.  I reformatted it with Vista Business SP1 32 disk supplied in the box.  I then visited the HP.CA website and downloaded and installed all the latest files, however, there is always a remnant "unknown device".

I installed the files for... latest BIOS and drivers for: chipset, graphics, quick launch, touchpad, audio, fingerprinter reader, wireless modem.

I also tried to install other files that do not appear to do anything: card reader, bluetooth, storage array software intel ProtectTools, HP Active Support Library.  (Except for ProtectTools, I these other updates?)

Also, I went to Windows Update.  Who find updates for the Gigabit NETWORK card, but there is still AN unknown device.  Now I'll try Vista SP2 but I doubt that will resolve a unknown device remaining.

The laptop seems to be fine, but as a dealer, I don't want to give it to my client until I perfect it.

  • Dell Support download has some drivers for old Dimension 2400, responsible of what was there, but still have an unknown device

Hi, hard drive is dead on Dell dimension 2400, re-installed with existing win XP (SP3).  Another computer used to go to Dell support and download line that few drivers I could find for the serial number.  (Broadcom Integrated NIC, graphics controller, Modem) Drivers installed and I still have an unknown device (point yellow question mark for unknown sandwiched between the network adapters and Ports).  Wired Ethernet worked before hard drive failure - properties for Broadcom 440 x say ' device working properly ", but it will not pick up a DHCP IP.  Set the IP to the network router and can now same URL and local peripheral ping like www.google.com , but cannot get to internet with IE explore manually.

Is there any other software drivers that are found in Dell archive somewhere I need to load to remove the unknown device?

Any idea this device might be hiding between the "network adapters" and "Ports (Com and LPT)?  Appreciate any help.  Thanks, Dave

    Hello

    > On the other hand there is a notice from Windows telling me that there is an unknown USB device (Port_ #0001.Hub_ #0002) which I suppose is the camera

Yes, it could be the internal webcam.
Seems that the driver has not been installed correctly.
What to say; first remove the old webcam software from the system.
Then clean the operating system using a tool like CCLeaner, for example.
After that, go into Device Manager and remove the unknown device.
    Restart the unit.
Reinstall the webcam software and check if the device has been recognized again.

  • Vista Ultimate on Equium A100 - 2 x "unknown devices".

Equium A100-306 with XP Media Center Edition.
So made as ready stickers clean install of Vista Ultimate (x 64).

Now I have 2 "other devices" in the Panel.
Has no 3, as mass storage controller was there too!

There is a x 64 version of xx21 TI which does not, available from Download Center.
Anyone know how I can track/identify devices & and/or drivers missing?
DriverMax used and online update driver but nothing shows.

MORE - everyone knows the A100-306 with proc duo T5500...
Is this a 64-bit device real or is it a 32-bit system running a 64-bit processor?

I have x 64 Vista loaded which should show 4 GB or more, but it reads still 3062 Mb.
After reading a lot, I find that some people differentiate between the processor and system capacity, others are not.
Is it possible to have a 64-bit processor in a 32-bit system?
Why this issue has not been resolved?
If it is a 32-bit system, why should we bother x 64 put OS on it?
Confused on this so any help would be great.

Yep! I have the latest version of the BIOS.
Oddly enough, I had XP_MCE to show 4 GB of RAM, immediately after the BIOS update.

Finally, thanks to everyone who asked (& responded to) other questions I had.
I came, I tried, I got the answer...

Everything above to sort & I'm a happy Bunny v..

Please note that Toshiba Vista 64-bit drivers are not available on the Toshiba page and so some unknown devices may appear in the device because Manager the drivers not installed!

    > someone familiar with the A100-306 with proc duo T5500... Is this a 64-bit device real or is it a 32-bit system running a 64-bit processor
Intel Core2 Duo T5500 Mobile is known as a Merom/64 Bit processor.

    > Is it possible to have a 64-bit processor in a 32-bit system?
Yes, the processor supports 64-bit and 32 bit OS OS

    > If it is a 32-bit system, why should we mind x 64 put OS on it?
You can install anything you want, but the question is whether you will get all the correct drivers

Looking around it can be an IMEI chip but I was not able to confirm the DEV ID of any of our sources generally. Does anyone have an idea what it is and where I could get the 64 bit Windows 7 drivers?

To my knowledge, the 8086 Dev_ID belongs to Intel
So there must some Intel driver.

Have you installed all the drivers for the Toshiba driver page? Do this

  • Tecra 9100: No sound and unknown device

I have the laptop above and have recently flattened and reinstalled Windows XP pro. I have no sound, I have a speaker in my sys tray, Device Manager detects the card Intel (r) 82801 CA/Cam AC'97 Audio Controller, after I installed the RealTek AC 97 drivers. I plugged in the headphones to make sure that this is not not the speakers who have blown. But still no sound. All volumes are turned upward and the volume on the front wheel is set in the middle. In sounds and audio in the Control Panel, all volumes are increasing and the speakers are set to portable stereo speakers.

    Any ideas?

I have a unknown devices in Device Manager States location is a system compatible ACPI Microsoft from what I see on Google it's something to do with the battery. Once again any ideas?

    Thank you

I know that your laptop. It s a Tecra 9100 and this laptop supports a Yamaha YMF753 - stereo 16-bit Sound Blaster Pro compatible sound card.

The problem is the XP SP1 or SP2. The audio driver of Yamaha does not support SP1.
Seems that you need to update the audio driver.
