Apply all critical updates on a 'ESX Update 1' hosts = "update of ESX 2"?

I applied 'Update 1-Complete' a few guests ESX, which worked well, but then noticed that many critical updates were waiting to apply.   With my Windows Service Pack / Update critical mentaility ceiling, I decided it was a good idea to apply all the critical updates, thinking that this leaves me in the 'day 1' so all available critical updates before the release of "Update 2".  However, after you apply all critical updates, build number seems to be "Update 2"?  I made sure the 2 update was not in the list of patches applied prior to reclamation.  So the question is, apply all the critical updates automatically asks you to a higher level of the major version.  In my case, lifting the crowd of ESX4 update 1 to ESX 4 Update 2?  I need clarification on this because I need to stay in 1 update constraints HCL.

Thank you!

don't get too confused, there is a bug in 4.0.x but has been fixed in 4.1.  In addition, there is a known issue in vCenter 4.0 base patches U1

See below

Two different Version of ESX Build numbers?

  • vCenter displays an incorrect version of the ESX host after restarting the vCenter service

> If you restart the server vCenter service once you upgrade the host ESX, vCenter may display an incorrect version of the ESX host.

  • Computer Windows XP detects not * all * critical updates or high priority

    Hello

I am and have been, problems with a computer Windows XP here at work that does not detect critical updates either Windows Update or Microsoft Update.  In fact, the only update that is currently available to me is one for Silverlight.  I also checked that no update is currently hidden.  In addition, when checking "Add/Remove Programs" when you select the check box 'Show updates', that an update installed is listed: Security Update for Windows XP (KB923786).

I should also mention that I don't get any errors whatsoever in the analysis of updates; simply, the updates are not listed as being available for me to install.  It's almost as if he thinks that I have already installed.

This computer running Windows XP SP3 and Internet Explorer 6 installed (Internet Explorer 7 or 8 is not an update available) I have not tried to install IE7 manually although I can try soon (if you think it can solve my problem).

    Here's what I've tried:
I tried to reinstall the Windows Update Agent using the command: windowsupdateagent30 - x 86 .exe /wuforce
I tried to reset the Windows Update components using the tool 'Fix It' of this article (I did not all the steps manually): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

This is the last release of my file WindowsUpdate.log last time I tried to search for updates:

As I suspected, the computer has a (very early) beta of SP3 installed. Uninstall, reboot twice, and then install Windows XP SP3 Final [1] & restart twice again.

Then go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com . Select CUSTOM and scan | Install all updates critical security available (only); Follow all the instructions. Subsequently, another CUSTOM scan to make sure that you have not missed any.

Tip: Do NOT install IE8 via Windows Update! Just 'hide' for now, please. (Believe me).

  • After all, critical updates applications point to CF 7 instead of CF8?

Last weekend, Christiane updates have been installed on our server, and it has been restarted. Now, all ColdFusion applications on the server point to CF7 instead of CF8. (I stopped CF7 and our intranet is offline... If I stop CF8, our intranet works well). How can I get the apps to point to instead of CF7 CF8?

Have you tried to re - register your Web server by using the Web server configuration tool? Before that, run the wsconfig on CF7 and everything delete you connections from the Web server, and then run the wsconfig in CF8, then re-save.

  • Win 7 64 bit USB ports is no longer conscious of external drives after "Critical update"

Just after that a windows update "Critical update" earlier this week, my PC stopped recognizing all drives connected to a USB port.  It no longer recognizes the external USB HARD disk and also it does not recognize the USB SD card reader.  This applies to both built-in PCI bus USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports ports.

The USB ports still acknowledge the keyboards, mice, cameras and other things, not storage.  If the same SD card is charged inside the camera, this card is visible when the USB cable is connected to the camera, but if I remove the SD card and load it with a USB card reader, it fails.

There are other symptoms such as slow boot times of VERY and VERY slowly closing times.    Any help appreciated.

    Windows 7 Pro 64 bit Intel X 33 chipset,

Update: this could have turned out to be that something damaged on the external hard drive that has affected only Windows 7.  This drive has been plugged in, not only was unreadable, it made the other disks unreadable USB on the Windows 7 machine. I plugged the drive in question on a XP machine and it worked fine.

Some time later, I plugged it Pluggable software component back to the Win7 machine and it pops up a message (the first time I saw it) that said, the drive was corrupt and had to be scanned to find errors. I clicked on OK and let it scan.  After the scan it reported "no problem not found on the device or disc. It is ready for use. "And as a result of this analysis, mysteriously, it started working again!

So now, the problem disappeared. I hope he doesn't, because I'm not really sure what fixed it.

  • Vista: All Windows updates suspended / "Module of Windows Installer has stopped working and Will Close."

On my installation of Vista, all windows updates no longer work.  If I try and run them from Windows Update in Control Panel one starts to run but then it just hangs.  At the same time, I get a message "Windows install Module has stopped working and closes".  If you look in the services, it is crushed, but restarts.  The update remains always hung.  It doesn't matter what update I try and run, I always get the same result.

When the computer is shut down, it also tries to automatically install updates.  These also hang on the first, which means that I have to force power off the computer.

Don't know if this is related, but I don't think that SP2 already installed - it kept if crush (don't remember what was the error message).  When I restart in safe mode it tells me that I'm still on SP1.  I followed all the suggestions on how to get SP2 installed for the error I received, but nothing has worked.

Do not really understand what I have really installed a lot of "_" on the PC, it is a "clean" installation (about 1 year now).

Any ideas?  Really, I don't want to have to do a re-install, but I suspect that is where I'm heading unfortunately.

    Hi AndrewInNZ,

Thanks for visiting the site of the community of Microsoft Windows!

I would like to ask you some questions for a better understanding of the issue:

    (a) did you try to temporarily disable the security software and check if updates are smooth?

    (b) you are using a firewall in addition in instead of the windows firewall? If so disable (temporarily) of the third party firewall and look for updates.
It is usually caused by a 3rd party firewall that it blocks the internal ports.

Check out WERCON for more information-

    1) Click START | wercon.exe type in the search box start and click on enter.

    (2) select "View problem history", under 'Windows identified problems' with the right button on a problem, and then select "view problem details. Click "Copy to Clipboard" export to text document

    Also reset the Firewall setting:

    1) Click START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | Click on FirewallSettings.exe above | Select the Advanced Settings tab. Click 'Restore Defaults ' | Click on apply (if Hi-lighted) | Click OK

Check the status of the service as well:

    Log in as administrator-

Start button | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | Administration tools

    Double-click on Services

(Provide the administrator password or a confirmation if prompted to do so.)

Right click on the 'Windows Modules Installer' service, and then select Properties.

Select the general tab - make sure that the startup type is manual

Here is the link to solve problems connecting to Windows Update or Microsoft Update

If you want to check the version of the service pack of the operating system:

    Hope this information helped!

  • "Microsoft Update" critical updates will not be installed.

I use Windows XP with all updates installed.

I recently installed Nero Suite 10. Now when I go to Microsoft "Update" I find 5 'Critical' updates for Net Framework. I tried to install these about 5 times without success. In addition, I now have an icon on my task bar showing these same 5 "Updates" are ready to install. Same story. Although I have tried again and again, they say that the installation was successful, but the icon remains and the updates are NOT installed.

    Help!.

    Hi JimSULLIVAN,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. you receive an error message during the installation of the updates?

    3. are you able to install all other updates on the computer?

    4. do you have security software installed on the computer?

    Method 1

See the article and try the steps mentioned, check if it helps.

Troubleshooting Windows Update or Microsoft Update when you are repeatedly offered an update

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/910339

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then I suggest that you use the .NET Framework cleanup tool and remove the version of .NET Framework for which you are unable to install the critical update and check if that helps.

  • HP CP1525n no longer work after "critical update" the driver.

My CP1525n worked very well, but I received an email from HP advising me of a necessary 'critical Upgrade'.  I installed it, and now my PC (Windows 7 32-bit) is not communicating with the printer.  I also have an error message whenever I log on saying that ToolboxFX is not working properly.  My printer is one week out of warranty, if HP won't talk to me.  Can anyone help?

    Hello

Thanks to all who offered suggestions for this problem.  I decided to go back to a restore point before installing the critical update of HPs, and now everything works fine again.  I agree with Bob, probably the best thing to do would be to uninstall and start over - but I hesitate to try providence - the printer now works fine and if it is not broke, why fix it?

I didn't understand quite what the critical update was all about, as I'm not on a public network (was someone will hack in and stuff print on my printer when I wasn't looking?), but usually I like to keep drivers updated etc, so is tied.

In any case, thanks to all

  • Need to do system restore after you perform the most critical updates

Since getting internet cable in January, and the creation of a network, I couldn't install more updates to Vista security on my laptop Dell for 5 years.  Every time I have download and install, the next time I start my PC, repair Windows startup program is displayed because Windows cannot start.  The only solution never finds it is to do a system restore, which of course gets rid of all the updates of security that I just installed.  An exception to this rule are the updates with a tool to remove malicious stuff.  Those who work.  And my works of Bit Defender.  But I'm heading out for big trouble not being able to do all the other critical updates?  What do you think is the problem?

What type of Internet connection you are on, wired or wireless? If you are on a wireless connection, try to switch to a wired connection and try the download with Internet Explorer.

I suggest you to install the updates one by one and...

  • It is important to install all the updates popping up on my computer?

    Installation of updates

I was wondering if it is important to install all the updates popping up on my computer.  Looks like I get notifications every day!  Is it good or bad to make them... and so good, that I have to do all of them?  What those specifically do I do?  HELP CoffeeAnnie

You need install all the critical updates in order to preserve the safety of various exploits of hackers and malware from your Vista.  Also called security updates, these loopholes hackers have found to enter your system somehow.  Important updates correct various problems of performance.  All updates are designed to prevent potential problems and enhance your Windows experience.

Normally, the new updates are available on Windows Update the second Tuesday (aka "Patch Tuesday") of each month.  Occaisionally updates are also available on the fourth Tuesday as well, but the vast majority is released on Patch Tuesday.  The only time when Windows updates are offered to other dates is when an update is critical at the moment, which means that Microsoft has detected an imminent danger of criticism for its users.

Office updates follow the same pattern.

There are other Microsoft products including the team out of updates on a different schedule, but who do not concern most users.

I recommend to use the automatic updates and install programs.  Keep your Windows up-to-date protects your investment in your computer.

All the other updates, including security, for other Microsoft software will open (WIndows Explorer, Microsoft Office, etc.).
This seems to have started after downloading and installing McAfee on 6/17. Updates have been well before that date.
    Service Pack 3 is installed.
All updates important/critical loading fine up until this date.  I have 11 updates essential and important to load.
I totally removed McAfee from the PC, including the stage you purchase from McAfee for cleaning the system. Now run the ESET security suite.

    Hi Dan,.

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft answers Forum. Follow the troubleshooting steps in this thread for your problem with the 80070005 error. Alternatively, you can try to install the update in small groups to see if that fixes the problem.

  • HP Pavilion s3242xPC-unable to download critical updates

This Board is my last attempt to get assistance.  Frustrated and angry that I had NO productive help with Tech Tech online or by phone.  Seems "no" can help.  12: 00, the phone yesterday, only to be told that their volume is extremely high due to existing problems with this PC.  I was offered the possibility of a specialized Tech 1 x support service for $154.

I came to realize that even though I used centers HP Total Care Advisor, Heath & help PC, information is useless for me as I am unable to download/install the critical updates.  I have a huge list of all the glitches, updates, patches, etc.  This unit is a little over 1 year old.  Yesterday I discovered that the warranty has been extended until February 2011, because HP recognizes the serious problems.  But "what to do" when 'tools' do not work?

Although I made the backup/recovery discs... they did not work.  I lost, documents, photos and news accounts.  For the love of Christmas (tis the season), please, someone direct me as to what my options are.

Thank you & merry Christmas, happy holidays to all!

OK now I know that you have this motherboard specific hematite which, in case of a problem with a HP-lack of start-up or non-video, can replace the motherboard for you.

I have seen it happen before.

But if there is no problem it's good.

    One last thing.

This update of the NVIDIA graphics driver can sometimes cause a blue screen to turn off the pc unexpectedly and after a few tries, it passes through. This happpens, sometimes even in a normal pc.

Make sure that you install this update separately by itself to avoid problems.

Altrnatively you can directly download the update manually from hp.com. It's the same exact update.

    It's here.

  • What happens to my all the updates, if I Re install Win 7 new

After 3 years, I found that the supporter of Windows 7 (70 GB) is full in my hard drive, can be due to many UPDATES all these years. Because I don't know how to free up space on this drive, I decided to re - install Windows 7 again. In this case, what happens to all my received UPDATES earlier. Do I have to download all the UPDATES again? Help, please

Yes, you will need to submit a new application of updates after reinstall. However some later updates are in fact replaced by later that the results can be more effective. I also download and manually apply service packs on new construction as allows me to apply the setting "nobackup.

On the last one I made after that the SPs, I had a little less than 100 updates to apply to the wide then came running clean disk with the option to clean the system files to delete history of update files.

  • Critical update and Aero

After the critical update of last month, I lost my use of Aero Peek.  I have an eye problem and need.  Other people seem to have the same problem.  Why we can not have an update to fix this.  I can't go into the command prompt, because I can't use the magnifying glass to see what I'm doing.

If you have updated your Windows then uninstall the update of platform for Windows 7 (KB2670838) and your problem should be solved.

Before I updated my Windows this month I just checked if Microsoft still offer this update. This is in the optional list. I installed so I thought to manually upgrade to IE10 because he wasn't in the IE9 update list. So I did manually and after that check updates again and to my surprise this update has disappeared completely. I have an old PC as well, and after installing all the updates I still have no problems so far.
