• Windows 8 arvato digital services, llc scammed...

  I ordered Windows 8 Pro in January of 2013, I had no problem installing it... the first time anyway.  Then my HARD drive crashed, I bought a new one and installed Windows 7 ONLY, I can use my product key I bought to upgrade to Windows 8... Well... that didn't work so well, every time I tried to download Windows 8, it gave me the error, "we cannot connect you right now."  Same mistake via an ethernet cable and to different houses because I wanted to try on the internet, same error.  I looked at my receipt of email that is attached to this forum, he said arvato sold to me.  Now, I realized that a lot of other people and I have been scammed.  I lost $42 and I want my Windows 8 back, I don't like Windows 7 because I'm missing out on all the good features of Windows 8.  Microsoft, could you please somehow give me my Windows 8 download or disc?  I really don't care I want to just back somehow.

  I bought Windows8 via the Microsoft Web site and chose the option "keep some files. I didn't know that it only gives me an option to download an ISO for a re - install own on a new SSD that is coming in a few weeks later.
  I print the receipt with the KEY if the installation went well. However, I did not receive the e-mail which apparently contained a link to download the file again.
  Like many people, the transaction has been processed by Arvato Digital Services, and so far, it does not appear in my account from Microsoft Store. Does anyone know when this will be possible (I bought on Saturday so it's a few days already)? I guess when this happens, I see an option of re - download the file.

  Is it possible to get the OfficeJet 6500 E709n fax when it is connected to the digital phone service?  This seems to be the only obstacle to my installation.  I can't believe that HP would offer an all-in-one that are not fax to digital service.  Thanks for any help.

• OfficeJet 5741: Fax by internet?

  wanted to fax over the internet.   I have no land line (cell phone only).  It seems that the 5740's support or that they provide this particular plug-in?   Although there ARE other three of their model lines do. ??   WHY?      There is no available land line here in the country, but my ISP has this FOIP or voip or whatever his name.   Many telephone companies provide their customers with digital phone services, such as the following:

  ● DSL: a digital subscriber line (LAN) of services through your phone company. (DSL can be called ADSL in your country/region.)

  ● PBX: a private branch exchange (PBX) telephone system.

  ● ISDN: a system of integrated services digital network (ISDN).

  ● FoIP: a low-cost phone service that allows you to send and receive faxes with your printer using the Internet. This method is called fax over IP (FoIP).

  For more information, see Fax over Internet Protocol on page 67.

  HP printers are designed specifically for use with traditional analog telephone services. If you are in an environment of digital phone (for example, DSL/ADSL, PBX, or ISDN), you may need to use digital-toanalog or converters filters when you set up the printer for faxing.

• Windows 7 drive MyBook Essentials 3 TB backup/image error

  Just installed a new copy of Windows 7 (64 bit) on a Dell Inspiron 1525 (Vista came with it).  All updates to Windows SP1 included are completed.  I can drag and drop thousands of files on disk, discover, etc..  When I try to do a backup/image via Windows 7, I get an error of e/s 5 minutes (error 0x8078002A).  I use the USB 2 connector.

  When I tried the backup on another external drive (switchable box hot Thermotake with a 500 GB drive) it worked fine.

  Everything looks good in Device Manager.

  Found my own answer today from Western Digital.  If you have decided to make a backup image with the help of Windows 7, don't BUY THEIR 3 TB MYBOOK.  Here is what they sent me.

  Dear JJ,

  Please contact Western Digital Service and customer support.

  This problem seems to be caused by a problem with the Windows 7 backup and restore when you use disks with logical sector of 4 K sizes, which are found on WD 2.5 to and larger external drives. It's a bit different from the readers of 'Advanced Format', who are 4 K physical sector sizes and should not cause this problem.

  It is always possible to use a disc, as long as you don't need to use the drive with Windows XP. Using the quick WD Formatter tool, select "Factory Default" configuration to reformat the drive. WARNING: This tool will erase all data on your drive, in order to take the necessary precautions.

  OK here is the scenerio. I just bought an Officejet Pro 8600 Premiunm AIO Printer. I am replacing an Officejet 8500 Pro with this new which is just one generation located under the new.

  The problem is that no caller ID appears on the display screen. I saw him once, but that's all. Technical support told me that he is not supposed to appear. But I have to disagree. Whenever I receive an incoming call, the display shows "incoming call of" but no caller ID information. The old 8500 displays information and I also saw him 1 time on the 8600. But technical support still said no. I got in touch with them 3 times on this issue and I have still a few words right person English, which is frustrating to try to commuicate with them.

  Please someone with the Officejet Pro 8600 printer, could check you how the caller ID works on your printer. So I need to know if mine is not working properly I can get it exchanged. But if she does not appear on yours, then I know that this is not supposed to appear. I just bought this printer 2 weeks ago. All my phones in the House appears the identifying information from the appellant, but just not on the printer, so I know that's not on the end of the phone company.   Yes, the caller ID should be appear.  I can't think many that might interfere with it.  You can try to update the firmware, just follow the link and it will take you to the instructions, but I don't know if this is a problem in the firmware or not.  What phone company you use?  Do you have digital services through this company, such as DSL or VOIP?

  After I did it, I unplugged all of my other drives and I tried everything again with the missing disk, but it still does not.

  This morning, I reconnected all of my readers, and he started to read the missing disk.
