Reader of CD-R/DVD-ROM (IDE) of K LITE-ON COMBO SOHC 4836 opens not (mechanical)

I can't use the original CD-R/DVD-ROM drive, because he that is no longer open tray drawer. It's a mechanical problem, I've tried several times unsuccessfully to fixation. It's my only optical drive, and I can't find an IDE drive to replace, because everything I've found so far is SATA not IDE ATA.

My computer recognizes the drive, but this isn't a software problem, so it can't be fixed with troubleshooting app.

I went to NewEgg and an engraver of CD/DVD ASUS DRW-241st/BLK/DOWN black SATA 24 X bought last week. It happened a few days ago, and I tried to install it, but he found the new driver has no receiver necessary required power (a cable IDE socket receiver) plug at the rear of the unit. I had to request a RMA from NewEgg number for refund.

What should I do? I need a CD/DVD drive of work!

My PC is a 2006 Compaq Presario desktop SR 1930 t CTO, with Windows XP (home edition) operating system.

Last year I replaced the original with a 480W 300W PSU (has supposedly 'support SATA', but I don't know what that means). I know there is only a single receiver plug on the ASUS drive, and several card receivers on my drive LITE-ON.

Help, please!

My bad.  I didn't notice that I've linked drive was just a ROM.

This small converter looks interesting.  I had not seen this before.  It should work OK if you have peripheral space being tacked on to the back of the drive.  Well done.

  • Satellite P20 DVD ROM drive may not be recognized

    Hello

I just replaced my DVD ROM drive, but I had a problem.
It is a new DVD rom drive I ordered at TOSHIBA also.
It could not be detected by Windows:
-Tried to check on Device Manager, not detected
-Tried to reload the driver, the same problem
    Note:
Whenever I tried to re - insert the disc, the blue light in the control panel of my P20 beds (I understand, which means that the P20 detects the drive) but I don't understand, is that why Windows XP does not detect it or it does not alarm or error messages.

Hi, recently I bought my Toshiba Satellite A200-23 s and now it says that the HD DVD-ROM driver is missing or currupted. The system can not see DVD - ROM. My laptop is still under warranty, but perhaps I can fix it somehow? I found the list of drivers on this site but you've not seen DVD - ROM drivers.

Don t think that it s a hardware problem.
I think that it s a registry problem.

Access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    Hello

It's very strange. As far as I know operating system or a specific HARD drive has no influence on the functionality of CD/DVD. It is interesting that if the drive is faulty, the engraving option has disappeared, but the reader can read the media without problem.

In my opinion, there is not much to do sometimes firmware could be updated to improve the compatibility between the different discs, but this is possible only in case these packages would be available.
I checked the page of the Toshiba UE driver and firmware update is not available for the series L750.
So I guess that your problem is related to the WEIRD malfunction.

  • CD-ROM/DVD-rom cannot read CD - Rs (data or software)

    32 bit

    Antivirus: Optus (australian) Security

No anti-spyware and any third-party firewall

    CD/DVD-Rom: 20 x LG GSA-H55N

Since this CD-ROM/DVD-rom + 3 years now and used to burn/read CD - r.  Since last year, he was not able to read or burn to CD - r (data, audio, old games, software installation CD).  Burning & playback on DVD - r work (with a few issues).  On a previous thread, Chaos_Edit suggested to find the CD-ROM/DVD-rom by Control Panel/Device Manager - DVD/CD-ROM-rom and perform a restart on it.  Unfortunately, there was no Device Manager on my account control panel and can't find the file on my computer.    Any positive HELP is gladly appreciated.  Thank you

First of all, download your correct terminology.  DVD-ROM (or CD-ROM) is the types of compact discs for read-only.  What you have is a 'internal 20 X Super multi DVD Writer'.

DVD/CD burners use lasers for CD and DVD.  It is not rare to fail in front of the other.  Otherwise said, simply because your device can read and write DVDs does not mean that it always can read and write CD.

I have no idea what means "do a reboot on" a CD/DVD burner, whether or not you use the Device Manager.  However, for later use, you can get to the Device Manager at least one of the following ways:

    • Right-click "My computer" and select Properties; Click on the "Hardware" tab Click the 'Device Manager '.
    • Press the 'Windows' key and the 'Pause' key at the same time; Click on the "Hardware" tab Click the 'Device Manager' button (of course only works for keyboards with a "Windows" key)
    • Start > Control Panel > system [or, if you use the 'Category' of the control panel view, "Performance and Maintenance" and then "System"]; Click on the "Hardware" tab Click on "Device Manager".

I don't know where you buy hardware in ounces, but in general, a replacement CD/DVD burner doesn't have to be expensive.  In the United States, for example, that NewEgg resembles a replacement close enough to what you have for US$ 22.  Be aware that your current device uses an IDE interface rather than the more recent (and now more common) SATA interface.

    Hello

It is very rare for the methods in the 1st answer above does not fix a Code 19.

You might have a disk problem as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD and CD burn and)

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

  • CD/dvd-rom is not reading or writing

I had a virus and my computer crashed, I have a friend who fixed it and itried play a dvd, but it cannot locate the cd/dvd rom that someone has suggestions?

    Hello

Due to virus I ran Stage 3 and even if maybe stage 4 the CD/DVD drive
    started working without them.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and

Step 3: Since you had a virus use these:

Follow these steps to remove corruption and missing/damaged file system repair or replacement.

Run DiskCleanup - start - all programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup

Start - type in the search box - find command top - RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN

Step 4: You may need to try an InPlace upgrade/repair facility that allows to keep
programs and data backups however redundant are always a good idea. Then you might need
to recheck the best stadiums 1 and 2 above.

You can use another DVD that aren't copy protected but you you need to own
Product key. It must be the same version 32 or 64 BIT Vista OEM. Also the system
machine to usually sell the cheap disk since you already own Windows. Don't forget to make a
good backup or 3 (security in redundancy).

  • DVD-ROM not able to read any Dvd or cd...

Hi, my dvd rom is not able to read any disc, I can see the drive in my computer, when I insert a disc, it runs for the first time, the light shows and thn it stops completely, and when I click on the dvd icon in my computers it drive ejects, when I tried to google my problem I got to know tht, this may be due the updates for vista and the solution was to remove the upper filter or lower in the registry, I tried tht so but thn too the problem persists, try wht should I do?

try to use the DVD rom in another IDE or SCSI port in your computer.

  • New CS6 disk will not read the DVD ROM

I got CS6 on my laptop when I had WIN Vista, ive recently went to WIN 7 and I try to re install CS6, but now my dvd rom wont read any of the 3 discs of CS6. Ive tried a music disk and it reads that I see any scratches on any of the 3-disc accompanying the CS6.

I really don't think it's disks that play to the top, when I installed first CS6 they went from the cover to the right dvdrom in the covers.  No errors come at all. I put the disc, the computer thinks for a few seconds then nothing.

    Any ideas?

Have you tried to read what's on the disc to see if you can find the files that start the installation process?

Rather than using disks is to download the trial version and use, serial number you havce records to activate.  Here are some links for downloading...
