Portege Z30 does support mSATA SSD 1 TB?

Hi guys,.

I install the mSATA EVO 840 1 TB SSD in my Portege Z30.

Can anyone confirm if the Z30 will / will not support this capacity disks?

Thanks for your help!

Bernado

Hello

I'm not sure the 1000 GB of SSD mSATA module but found some details that the unit would support 128/256 GB / 5126 GB mSATA modules for sure.

So probably also 1000GO size would be supprted too...

    Hello

I don't think that there is no limit on that. I think that whatever it is upwards to 500 GB will certainly work and probably same disks up to a 1 to. Samsung is a very popular brand with the Evo Series discs / Pro. I would go for one of them.

  • HP Pavilion DM4 - 3002TX Beats Edition supports mSata SSD 128 GB?

    Hello

I want to install a SSD 128 GB mSata in my HP Pavilion DM4 with 1 TB of HDD.

I already read the document "HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide"

It is said 'Supports a 32 GB mSATA SSD' and «a 20 GB mSATA SSD»

and when I read on combination mSata SSD with HDD.

"Support either a 750 GB, 5400 RPM, 9.5 mm hard drive + 20 GB mSATA SSD drive
configuration combination or a 500 GB, hard drive 7200 RPM, 9.5 mm + 20 GB mSATA solidstate
    combination drive configuration "

the document does not mix with 1 TB HARD drive.

The laptop supports SSDS this size and combination with 1 TB of HARD drive?

    Thank you

Yes it supports. See page 44 of this manual:

    Repair manuals

Check the service bay to be sure, you have the slot depicted on page 44.

The usefulness of the drive cache mSATA also depends on how much RAM you have, but I guess you have the 4 original concerts or at least no more than 8. Buy a 32 gig WSSD and install it. Restart the computer and let Windows load a driver. Now open the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Console. Go to the performance tab and activate the acceleration. You will be able to choose how many the mSATA to use for acceleration and you can so use it all because that anything left over will not do much good. Restart once or twice to leave the files to migrate the mSATA reader, you should notice a lot, a lot more quick time startup and better performance in general. There is no other practical use for the reader of the WSSD as an accelration cache. It is not really possible to use it as a boot drive, but install the accelerator cache is well worth.

Where do you live? All over the country. We can help you find the drive of the WSSD.

  • Portege R930 - upgrade the mSATA SSD succssfull

Just briefly, I wanted to report an SSD upgrade.

When I got my Portege R930 (PT331E, i7) two years ago, I changed the HD to a PRO 840 Samsung SSD 512 GB (big improvement). Now, this SSD is too small (photos!) and I wanted to increase the capacity up to 1 TB.

But instead of a new SATA, I decided to go for an mSATA + adapter SATA I felt an mSATA unit would be more "evolutionary" - next update of the laptop for me would be a Portege Z, who use mSATA.

So I bought a Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB with a Delock adapter/converter mSATA SSD, made a clone of the Apricorn cable and the software switched the SSD and everything works fine (actually a little faster )! At first I tried to use the clone with software from Samsungs migration but this didn t work, maybe I didn t the right version.

-Now I have a lager SSD that will live longer than my R930. Please note that I'm not an expert with computers - just a happy user Toshiba! Thanks for a good forum with my good ideas!

    Concerning
    / Anders

So, I bought a Samsung SSD 850 EVO mSATA 1 TB whole with a converter/adapter Delock...
    .. .and everything works fine

    Good news Lao!
Thanks a lot for the comments...

I also upgraded my laptop with a 250 GB SSD drive and now I think of a larger SSD... I should consider your solution now...

  • Portege A200 does support SDHC?

    Hello!

    I have a laptop Portege A200

This laptop support SD cards, but does support SDHC cards (Secure digital High Capacity)?

    Thank you

    Hello

I know doesn´t SDHC support. But I Don t know for sure, you must try it for yourself.
If it doesn't work then, you need to use an external drive that compatible to SDHC SD card standard is fairly new.
I had the same problem with my machine, but I solved it with the purchase of a compatible card reader.

  • V470 mSata SSD support

I guess that the V470 supports mSata SSD for two reasons: the lenovo support download section includes rapiddrive drivers for the V470; the bios has a special "SSD" labeled sata port that does not show my 2.5 "SSD (it appears as"HARD disk"in the bios). I also found a Chinese/Korean site that was selling the mSata SSD and included the V370, V470 and V570 with models that support mSata (such as the y470/y570). Of course, this question raises another: did the V470 support 6gbps sata iii? I know that the chipset CERTAINLY support, so I think they have this option disabled in the bios. Can anyone confirm this? I NEED an answer the mSATA thing abou... I tried to find an answer for weeks now. I would like to find out it takes support 6 GB/s on the port of mSATA, but I doubt that is the case. Thank you!

  • Portege Z30 - customize touchpad

I like some Toshiba Z30 touchpad options, like the 2 fingers to scroll, including in web browsers.

However, I hate the back of the browser (it seems to me that it is controlled by the upper part of the touchpad).

It always changes accidentally back and forth while browsing Web pages.
Can I unable that work without disables 2 fingers to scroll?

If I uncheck 'browser user support functions' in finger scrolling properties then 2 advanced mice also stops working.

    Thank you

    Hello

It seems that the Portege Z30 would support the Alps Electric touchpad driver.

As you have probably not known touchpad modules are used in different Toshiba laptops; like touchpad Synaptics, Alps or momentum.

Mentioned modules are supported on different features so possible that the Alps touchpad would not support the same features of touchpad touchpad Synaptics or momentum module.

Anyway, the fact is that you can find all the functions of the touchpad supported:

Control Panel-> mouse-> last tab (device settings)-> the settings button.

Here, you should be able to get all the touchpad option that could be modified and changed.

  • Portege Z30 & R30 - notice to owners + question about SSD upgrade

HI - need some advice please.

I am looking to replace a laptop existing and have narrowed down the choice to a Portege R30 or Z30.

There are owners out there with a view on another machine? I read all the comments: this is the point of view of any beneficial owners I'm after. Reliability, ease of use in particular. Has anyone replaced a battery on a Z30? That sort of thing.

There is a lot of money for me to spend - so I would really appreciate the help.

Having said that I'm torn between the two models - I'm leaning a little towards the Z30 - but the standard SSD is too small. I am aware that the SSD is mSATA and which does not limit what he can be replaced by. I'm a big fan of the EVO series - and there's an mSATA SSD available in sizes up to 1 TB.

Although there is not much information online - it was suggested that the current BIOS on the Z30 does not recognize mSATA SSD more than 512 MB.

    Can anyone confirm this?

    Thanks a lot, a lot.

Unfortunately, I m not Portege Z30 owner but I want to share my knowledge on this unit.
The Portege Z30 upgrade is a little tricky.
First to get access to the battery and the memory modules and mSATA low cover should be removed.

This means that you lose the warranty if you remove this cover.
I guess that it s not worth the warranty having such expensive unit.

By the way: models are equipped with a type mSATA ' Solid State Drive (SSD) "128 GB/256/512 GB
But this does not mean that the biggest mSATA modules are not supported. To be honest, this detail isn't known to me, but I think that the controller should be able to handle larger sizes too.

  • Portege Z30 - how to create the new partition on SSD

    Hello
I have a Toshiba Portege Z30 with a 512 MB SSD. In addition to the C partition, I would D for the work and E for personal stuff.

By default, the laptop came with only C, but the disc already has 4 partitions:
-a healthy active recovery of 1.46 GB partition
    -c a partition
    -a 16 GB Hibernation partition
-a healthy 11.55 GB primary partition called drive HARD recovery when I use MiniTool Partition Wizzard

I managed to get 300 GB of unallocated space, but I can not use this space to create D and E, apparently because the MBR does not support more than 4 partitions.

Question: should I have all these partitions Toshiba? Is there a workaround for D and E? Can I create a USB drive recovery system and get rid of the recovery partition?

    Thank you

Before starting any discussion, I hope you didn t screwed up something. Why?

When you get laptop it has the factory settings and just with the factory settings, you will be able to create a media recovery (DVD or USB depending on the model). I hope this isn't too late now.

Try to create a recovery media as soon as possible please.
Post it please comment how it works. I hope that everything will be OK.

  • Satellite A210-248 does not recognize the 840 ECO mSATA SSD

I want to build in my Satellite A210-248 on the port of msata ssd.

When I build in the ssd bios dind't find the ssd, so I can't install windows in the ssd

    Hello

Satellite A210 does not support port mSATA and therefore the mSATA SSD module cannot be used.
Probably, you have found a mini-PCI on the motherboard slot. It certainly looks like mSATA but its not the same thing.

  • Portege Z30-A-10w: Win 7 BSOD after upgrade SSD

    Hello

I am wanting to upgrade a laptop Toshiba-Portege-z30-a-10w of company SSD 128 to 512 SSD
However when loading windows 7, it crashes when connecting with a blue screen error 0x00000001

The SSD 512 that I use is

    and according to the
    http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/compat...Tege-Z30-a-10W

It is compatible with the Toshiba portege-z30-a-10w
I've updated the BIOS of the laptop to V4 30/04/2015 (which to my knowledge is the most recent)

Moreover I have updated the firmware on the SSD 512 to what, in my view, is the last
    MU02 version

However I still get the same problem with Windows 7 to break with a blue screen just before the opening of the session.

    All ideas

    Thank you

I've never managed to install Windows 7... but I installed Windows 8 and goes on well...

I have no why, but install Windows 8 seems to allow the 512 SSD to use

    Hope it will be useful.

  • Portege R930: replace card mSata with SSD

    Hello

I wanted to replace the 128 GB hard drive in my laptop. I bought a 256 GB SSD and read the User Guide.
I don't see anything about the replacement of disc inside.
When I open the PC, I discovered that there was an mSata card.
Is it possible to replace a card with an SSD mSata?
There is a small connector but I don't know I'll have to buy a new one (what kind of connector?).
More important still there no information in the Guide of the user on this whole process.
    Is there someone doing this?

    Kind regards.

I think you need to get the drive replaced by a 2.5 cable cable ".
If the player is not in good physical shape, you may need to get the other parts replaced as well.

This may be a better idea to return the SSD and buy an mSATA SSD instead.

  • Portege Z30-C-12Z cam does not work with Win 10

    Hello!
I have a problem with my Portege Z30-C-12Z. Camera in win10 does not work.
Error code: 0xA00F4273. Have tried all the following steps: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...0-71c220c123a9 and like many more check the BIOS etc.

According to me, I tried and everything, checked it please help!

    Try this:
Type of storage in the search window and go to the storage system settings page. Make sure that the economy sites point to existing folders.
I moved the files on a SD card and the camera could not find the folder of photos. Also, I've seen the suggestion to check that the folder of photos contains the security settings to allow access.

If still no good, remove the driver of the webcam from the Control Panel, then let Windows Update to install a driver for the webcam update.

Reinstall the camera application can also help.
