Audiobook organize

I'm importing many audiobooks in iTunes.

While everything seems fine in iTunes, so far, I noticed that in the Finder files are not organized by the records that show the titles of the books. Instead, they are all mixed together under a folder named for the author.

Not that Finder how things really matter that much.

I have imported only ten titles, but have several hundred to go, including the writer even books. When I see that fact Finder I think there's a pice of missing metadata. Or user error. But what?

And even if it might not matter I would like to know why Finder does.

iTunes 12.4.3.1, MacOS 10.11.6.

I think that iTunes organizes its elements in the media by the artist/author first folder, then the name of the album.  Your tracks are fully labeled in iTunes?

I'm relatively new to the Sansa Clip. I want to put an audio book on which has a set of 11 disks. I created a title on the drive under audio books. Now I want the title create 11, disk1, disk2, etc. subfolders, to copy the torn in each folder of s to do 11 playlists under the title. That doesn't seem to work. Is this not possible.

Then I thought about being smart and merged all tore up the files from one disk to do a big mp3 fle (60 + MB) and do this 11 times and copy them under the title and create a playlist. The player doesn't and hung. What gives? Any help wil be appreciated.

Well, this is what I discovered. Each record indicates that a separate under audio books book. So I changed the label of the album of each disc to the Heading1, Title2 etc and it works. Thank you all for your help. Very much appreciated.

  • Organize my library - best practices

I'm getting used to the way iTunes works to organize things and I would like to get your thoughts and ideas on what I came with. I would like to have the option checked in the preferences to keep my music organized folder (although this caused a problem with the audio books I ripped CD). Please check if the following is correct:

    1. For simple of artists and Albums, each song file must have the artist name under name of artist and artist of the Album. Then the name of the Album should be the same in each file. This will display in this hierarchy in the interface of iTunes and the music files
    2. When it comes to albums with more than one artist, I saw (in the iTunes interface) iTunes put them under Compilations, Soundtrack and various artists. But it always corresponds to the underlying files. So that's what I did:
    3. If it's really a soundtrack, I often find the artist of the Album to be "Soundtrack" and the "Compilation" checked. This places the album under Soundtrack in iTunes and in the case of Compilations in the music folder. In these cases, I just remove the check mark.
    4. If it is a compilation which is not a soundtrack, I do the artist of the Album "Compilations" and check the box. This creates a record of Compilations in the iTunes interface and stores the files in the folder of Compilations.
    5. So far I don't see the need for a 'various artists folder - this seems redundant.

Is that all that I'm missing? For example, there is an album of an artist, where all the songs, but a list of this artist. However this song lists the artist as well as another. In the past, iTunes share this one song on another. Can I keep the artist Album is identical for all the songs so that they are all in the same place but this other artist as a "artist contributing ' to the list?

So that's how I do it now. Any thoughts, all that I'm missing? Care to share how to do this if it is different? (my concern is that this can work very well for music, but once I start to add podcasts or audio books, that the system may fail).  Thank you.

For these cases, it is not necessary fill The Album artist as an artist, although he won't be a problem to do so.

The flag of "the Album is a compilation... "is redundant functionality with the setting of a common value of the Album artist , because both will include albums with titles related to different artists.  However, the use of the flag "the Album is a compilation...". ' is required if you have an iPod Classic or other model older iPod that does not support the Album artist tag.  As you have noted, the indicator "Album is a compilation...". "affects where iTunes stores media files:

    • If the flag is set, the files will be stored in iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\Compilations\album_title
    • If the flag is not set, the files will be stored in iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\album_artist\album_title

If it is a compilation which is not a soundtrack, I do the artist of the Album "Compilations" and check the box. This creates a record of Compilations in the iTunes interface and stores the files in the folder of Compilations.

With this value in The Album artist albums will be placed in iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\Compilations\album_title if the flag is set or not (although its actually the indicator that determines the consumption of this issue, since in this case any value in Album artist is ignored in the determination of folder names).

So far I don't see the need for a 'various artists folder - this seems redundant.

Files of the form iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\Compilations\album_title will be created and used for albums where:

    • The flag of "the Album is a compilation... ' is not defined, and
    • the value of the Album artist is set to "Various Artists"

-This isn't a 'standard' as the Compilations one iTunes folder.

In this case, I put the value of The Album artist to that of the 'main' artist and add all the names of "guest artist" in the field of the artist on individual tracks.  Note, however, that it is common practice in digital downloads and (in some cases) the database GraceNote used to search for names of tracks on CD, to add the value "guest artist" in the name of the song... which for me is not good, so I've always updated metadata for this move in the artist field.

So that's how I do it now. Any thoughts, all that I'm missing? Care to share how to do this if it is different? (my concern is that this can work very well for music, but once I start to add podcasts or audio books, that the system may fail).  Thank you.

You approach seems fine - as long as you get the results there no way to 'straight' or 'bad '.  My standard approach is:

    • complete The Album artist only when securities have different values of artist
    • to all compilations, set the value of the Album artist to "Various Artists"
    • never set the flag of "the Album is a compilation... »
    • I treat soundtracks differently, but if I did I would probably put the Genre tag "Soundtrack" and create a smart playlist to collect together, given that many BO have a single artist or composer (for example, I have the various soundtracks of 'Star Wars' with the artist, the value John Williams).

These are then combined with a consistent method to set the tags of the kind the artist and Album comes out :

more an approach somewhat esoteric set up the tag of The Album fate on a combination of the most important of the four listed above, tags more release of album in the yyyymmdd format - date to ensure that records are classified by chronological order when an artist has even several films a year (see How can I sort the albums of the same year in iTunes music? for an example).

I don't know how it would affect the podcasts, but generally the same principles should apply to audiobooks in iTunes - note, however, that there is a big difference in the way that different iDevices manage audiobooks - especially for those who use a format of audio book dedicated such as .m4b files in the iTunes Store or .aa from Audible files.

  • Audiobooks ID3 tag? Publishers of ID3 tags?

I am downloading of audiobooks in Librivox.org and kind/track #s are not filled.  What is the correct kind of audio books on the Clip: "Audiobook", "Audiobooks", does it matter if I drag the book in audio books on the Clip file?

I keep seeing people who recommend ID3 tag specific "publishers" - are these editors really one more advantage to just using Windows Explorer "Properties"? (In Explorer, you can hilite the entire group of MP3 files, change the properties and enter the Album, author and like to apply it to the entire list, and it works fine for me except for the track-specific information).  ID3 tags publishers can manage trail edition numbers massively?

    Thank you!

If I remember correctly, the tag type to be used is Audiobook, singular (I had a problem with the plural when I used a year - that could change over time).  Note that an advantage in the field like, or put audio books in this folder (which is not required to read the files), is that the Clip will be default to the names of file and folder, if the labels of fields are not filled; same as podcasts.  In addition, the Clip will be autobookmark audiobooks and podcasts in the files of audio books and Podcasts (I don't remember if she will also be autobookmark audiobooks and podcasts out records, but with the kind of field filled - I think?).  I like to use different folders on the Clip for the Organization of the files.

Publishers of tags will allow "batch" (massively) changes of files and often in a very robust way.  I think this is why many will use it to explore.  For example, many publishers of tags will be change / fill in the tags file names or vice versa.  I love the free program MP3Tag - easy to use.  And the sponsor is a very robust program as well (though more complicated).

  • Audiobook mp3s of sorting

Hi, I have Word of biblical promise. Basically, each book is a folder that contains the respective chapters in the folder (mp3 format). The problem is that if I copy the folder above audio books only the first chapter is available. If I copy the music it is is more set per file. Essentially, I want to go to the record of Matthew and in it, I want to be able to access all of the individual chapters in Matthew. in mark I want access to all the individual chapters of Mark. Now in a book audio I have access to Matthew Chapter 1 and Chapter 1 mark although there are several individual mp3s within these folders. If I copy these music files each individual mp3's available unclassified by folder. Ant advice on how to do this would be appreciated. Thank you.

First of all, it is useful to know if you have an original Clip or Clip +.  Your player has a slot for a microSD on the right side as you look at it?  Furthermore, the on/off switch is a button at the top?  If so, you have a Clip +.  (If the on/off switch is a slider on the left of the drive, you have an original Clip.)

If you have a Clip +, you can play as your files on your computer, through the names of files and folders.  See my previous comment that precedes, in this case.  If you have an original Video Clip, you can not do - folder view and playing only works on the Clip +.

Second, if you have an original Clip and cannot make navigation in files, or if you have a Clip + and do not want, you need to change/add your ID3 tags.  Outside view/navigation in files, Clips usually use ID3 tags to organize what you can choose to play.  ID3 tags are bits of information put into music and files of spoken word, which indicate aspects of files, in general, name, name of the album/book, artist, genre, year and no..  Even if the file names of the files are correct, if the ID3 info. is incorrect, things are mixed up, as is the ID3 tags that are used to organize and display.

The good news is, your ID3 tags can easily be added and fixed, more easily with a tag like MP3Tag Editor (easily available freeware Internet: http://www.mp3tag.de/en/).  Windows also allows you to edit the information of ID3 tag under the screen of properties for files (but it is easier to work with labels, often with a dedicated tag editor).

The Clips have an exception to the use of ID3 tags for navigation and display: for untagged files (I think; I don't think that this works if files have tags, but I could be wrong) put into records audio books or Podcasts on the Clip, or to files stored elsewhere on the Clip, but who have the tag type information with the word Podcast or audiobook, the Clips using the names of folders and files for navigation and for display.

So the short answer (long?) is: If you have a Clip +, you can use the option of folders under the music section to navigate.  Otherwise, you need to manage your ID3 tags and change them so that it contains the correct information, for purposes of Organization (or in the case otherwise, you need to adjust/remove (possibly) tags and files on the Clip was part of the above exception).

It takes a little while to get this, but then it becomes pretty automatic.  I hope this helps.

  • Organize files audio books / reorganization of playlists

This morning I threw the files to a new book on my 2 GB Clip.  In the folder on my computer, the files were closed all correctly, but in the video, they are completely out of order, apparently sorted randomly.  It is not alphabetical as the file name begins with the chapter number, so presumably an alphabetical appropriate would automatically default to the digital command, but this isn't the case.  The last audio book listened ordered correctly, so I wonder how the default Clip organizes the files so I can get classified correctly audiobook files.

I realize, of course, that I can create playlists of those files with Rhapsody.  I had a question about it as well.  When I tried to create playlists using Rhapsody I noticed that I could not rearrange the order of the playlists on the video.   If it's a playlist for the files on my computer I have, but on the clip, I could only remove the tracks and add titles to a playlist, and these tracks would run automatically at the end of the playlist.  So if I wanted a track to be the second piece of the playlist, I pretty much remove all tracks on the playlist to two and then add them all again.

Is there a playlist editor that works with the Clip that allows you to reorganize the estate of track on a playlist already on the clip?

The Clip of orders titles by the tag information embedded in the songs.  The artist tag, then the tag album, then track number tag, then label the name of the song.  Use a tool like MP3tag to set the tags in your audio files.

MediaMonkey allows you to rearrange the songs in a playlist.  Simply display the playlist, and then click - drag to reorganize.

  • Organize questions

    Hello

I'm under core Mac Pro 12 2012 with OS X El Capitan 10.11.5. I want to organize my folders by GENRE. On the screenshots, I see that other people have the ability to sort by GENRE in several places where I don't understand. What is the problem and how can I rectify this? It drives me crazy.

So, where there is not an option:

    (1) on the toolbar at the top of a finder window, if I click on fix it I get ONLY the following choices: name, category of Application, open last Date, Date added, size and Tags.

    (2) if I right click between the icons/folders, organize by has the same options, as shown above in the #1

    (3) if I go into the presentation options, I * CAN * select sort by GENRE, but I can't define as the set as the default default value is grayed out.

Appreciate the time and consideration that it takes to help out me!

In a window of Finder, in list view, click any column header. You will see a list of columns that you choose. One of them is the kind. CT of salt, then you can drag it to any location of the desired column. Kicks on this column heading will sort the window by genre. Clicking New sprays between ascendants and descendants of the orders.

  • Need help to organize music

    Hi all

I just build my first PC, after my last laptop was stolen.

The thing is I need a good way to organize my music collection now and I have a problem with that.

I'm a DJ so I have two computers, one is my office where I listen to music every day and one is a laptop that I use to go to the place I DJ at and when I come home from uni weekend

The thing I had in mind was to put all my music on a HARD drive and use it as a base. Is it possible to easily sync music from one PC to the other via iTunes?

I want to be able to do is the following:

    1. Add music with itunes on my desktop

    2. Add music with itunes on my laptop

3 synchronization new library to a library on the HARD drive

4 synchronize desktop and laptop to the library of HARD drives

All of this must be possible in each order.

I don't want to put all the new songs on the disc manually HARD and after that on a PC. Also, it would be really nice if playlists are kept intact/synchronized well.

I hope you understand what I want / need.

    Thanks a bunch!

(Ps: also open to other solutions for the reading/synchronization/backup software!)

    Hello Thepecher,

Looks like you are looking for a way to have the same iTunes library available for two different computers.  I can certainly understand the convenience of the present and am confident that I can help you.

The best solution would be to use iTunes game.  iTunes game stores all your music to iCloud and allows access from all your devices, including PC.  iTunes game would achieve all the items on your list of things you want to be able to do.  If you add music to iTunes on one computer, it will appear on the other computer automatically.  Complete information is available here:

    iTunes game

Find out how to subscribe to iTunes Match here:

    Subscribe to iTunes game

For greater flexibility, you can combine iTunes with a subscription to Apple's music game.  This would have access to millions of songs and sync your playlists between devices.  Information about the Apple's music are available here:
