  I have an alienware X 51 R3 and have installed a GTX 1016 6 GB, everything works fine with no problem, but when I do upwards of the Alienware thermal control screen the GPU fan always indicates 0%. How can I check to make sure everything is cool with the video card and sound fan?

  Is it possible to control the fans on my new L775 Satellite? I'm trying to get them at full speed in order to more effectively cool my CPU and (especially) my GPU, which overheats a lot after a few Crysis or another game.

  I would also like to know: does open my laptop to replace the thermal paste (I did it on my old Dell and it helped a lot) might lead to cancelling my warranty or something like that?

  One fan control option is located in the peak power plan options > Toshiba power Saver saver > coolig method.

  When you play games using high-performance power management and make sure that the cooling method is set to the maximum level.

  Of course. You should not do it yourself. Incidentally: you have more recent model of laptop, so I put t understand how did you meet the idea of changing the thermal paste. After two years OK but why now?

• Question on Pavilion g7 fan/radiator replacement

  I have a HP Pavilion g7. It's a little more than 3 years now. The product number is XV343AV and the model number is g7t-1000. The fan was very loud and noisy for a while and I had the overheating computer once, but most of the time, it worked. However, yesterday my fan has stopped working. I intend to take my computer school and have their problems, but I need to order the parts for it.

  You can replace just the fan, but you must remove the Fan/Heatsink unit. It's pretty obvious, how once you get the device from the laptop. The radiator is a piece of metal and really can't fail. The fan is the part that fails. When you put everything back together make sure to use good thermal paste applied sparingly and properly.

  Note: This problem also occurs with Windows 8.

  For the last year my HP Pavilion dv5237cl turned off because of the fan does not work.  I have never seen the term "Thermal event" displayed prior to or on restart.  Usually just abruptly, he died.   I also saw a few BSOD that are not very descriptive to pointing to what the cause was and may be not related.  The laptop usually just stops working and goes out, maybe once every couple of days if it is caught in time.  I HAV been using a Defragmenter memory to help as appropriate the BSOD were due to low memory resources.  I am tracking the temperature of the CPU and have noticed that it is high, when the fan is not working.  I saw up to 85 C and I'm not sure but think that the laptop stops at 100 ° C.  The fan is usually always go at least to a low hum.  Usually, on startup, I get a strong burst of activity fan and if this isn't the case I'm clued in to a fan, not to exploit the condition.

  If I take a PIN regularly and carefully stitch it through the opening in the fan and cause rotate the blades of the fan, the fan will usually start working.  It sometimes takes a few tries.  I noticed the fan poll as it is sometimes wobbling and resembling a noise of ball bearing, but I think it is also maybe a hinged fan.  Some hopping may be due to the time that I used the pin code.  Fan usually settled in a low purr and lately with some ball light bering sound, maybe just wobble.  If I'm not there when the fan stops working or do not notice to try to remedy with a PIN, then the laptop stops due to excessive heat.

  Things I've tried or thought of trying:

  -J' I used canned and out air / blow accumulated debri from inside the vacuum cleaner to suck up and cleaned the vents.

  -J' I add the cooler that keeps time less around 5 c.  The laptop temperature was 55 to 62 C this winter.

  -Install the latest drivers and BIOS.

  -Tried to use Windows 8.

  -J' bought a replacement fan but did not want to disassemble the laptop to install it and also not be

  not know if it is really a material fan or a control sensor or other hardware problem or software problem.

  I understand that your laptop stops due to overheating.

  Given the behavior and how the fan no longer works and must be "started" once again, this does not sound like a fan failure.  Page 5-60 of this guide details the process of replacing the fan and the heatsink in Notepad.  If this is something you'd rather not do it yourself, you could contact a local PC shop for the fan and the heat sink replaced.

  I soon open my laptop top to replace the thermal paste in the motherboard and clean the fan in my computer. I base what I'm OFF this Youtube video:

  I intend using E2 IC compound thermal essential, an anti-static wristband and a few screwdrivers to this "operation". Not to mention that static electricity and what is mentioned in the video (essentially to remove tons of screws until I can take out the motherboard, then clean the old thermal paste and put new in) is there anything else I need to keep in mind?

  This is a very good video. If you follow, you will have no problems. Just be sure to apply thermal grease sparingly. It should just cover the bright core of the processor and not slop on the Green CPU card.

• Question about the control panel user accounts in windows 7.

  This might be a bit of a strange question, but I'll see what I get. Basically when I enter the control panel via my username (not the admin account) and click on "Add or remove user accounts" and enter a password to admin, the photos on my user and admin account both fail (but they are there on the log on screen, etc.). But the guest account (which is disabled) the image of bag of comments showing. But if I enable the guest account, the image disappears. Strange. Any ideas how to get the pictures to show up there?

  Also, I will add that this occurs only in the standard user, not my account Admin accounts I converted my standard account to an administrator account, and the pictures then decided to appear.

  You can get more precise control if you hold down the CTRL key while moving the mouse up and down. Also if you click on the number of color on the head to the top of the volume you can enter an exact number of dB to increase or decrease the level. You add a sign less to reduce the level.

  However, another way to btter to change the level of your audio files is to use the effect of amplification effects/Amplitude and Compression. It is the effect to be used in the batch of files. It does not give you the chart feed back of the TODAY but can be more accurate.

  Use the convert anchor point.  This tool will get you used to convert the front handles and back to what you need.

• HP Pavilion Elite HPE-400y: Out of control fan

  A fan in my pc starts full speed at random.  It does not matter whether I use the pc or it is just sitting and running.  Any ideas on how to stop this?  The noise is strong enough to interfere with telephone conversations.  Is there a solution?  Thank you

  Akadad, welcome to the forum.

  The first thing I suggest is to open the case and carefully clean the inside of the computer.  Dust will certainly cause the symptom you are experiencing.  Be sure to clean the fan that makes noise.  Dust on the fans will go wrong and cause noise.

  If this does not work, please let us know which fan is the source of the problem.

• Question of tree control column - hot/indicator

  You can choose the columns and cells you want to change using the tree callback function, if you have a CVI 2009 or later. You can use ATTR_TREE_RUN_STATE and ATTR_TREE_EDITABLECELLS inside the EVENT_LEFT_CLICK (and probably EVENT_LEFT_DOUBLE_CLICK too) to achieve this. I enclose a simple project with a tree that you can edit the first column of a double-click, the 2nd column with a single click and you can not change the data in column 3 at all. You can even specify individual cells make you it editable if that's what you wanted to do.

  Maybe it's just semantics.  You can have a ring of text with a single element is an empty string.  You can't have a ring of empty text.  There must always be at least one element.

  A ring of text is a numeric data type.  In fact an integer data type.  There is no such thing as a whole empty.  It is always to have a value.  The default value is zero.  In a ring of text you must always have at least one element, you can select.  Which means that there must be an element of an array of strings that are associated with.

  If you could have a control of the ring which is floating point data type as a double.  And you might have a data value of NaN, we could call a kind of null digital, although I don't think it's really the same principle.
