AutoPlay and Windows 8 devices

I have problems with the AutoPlay feature.

I plugged my DVD player (which worked perfectly on my previous laptop) on my laptop Lenovo Yoga (windows 8), but the DVD I inserted is not playing. I'll right click on devices, and the list comes up with "open Autoplay... "but if I click on that, nothing happens.

I changed all my settings Autoplay "Ask Me every time" (which I assume means, whenever I plug in a device, a box should appear asking me what I want to do with him) but still nothing happens.

If I click on the unit, sometimes with three files AUDIO_TS, JACKET_P and VIDEO_TS. When I click on the VIDEO_TS happens with 45 different files (be it. BUP. IFO or. VOB) which, when I click on it, tells me that I can not open the file.

All I want to do is what this DVD. How can I solve this problem?

Thanks in advance

  • Why am I suddenly "USB not recognized, one of the devices USB has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize"

Hi all. If anyone out there in Cyber Land can solve this problem for me so I've personally you will issue an eight-pack of ice-cold beer (or a bottle of wine for the ladies lol)...

I'll try not to waffle too guys, so here's...

Right my PC running Windows XP. I also have itunes installed on my PC (I have an iphone 4). Upward until yesterday my iphone and itunes were working well, (once I plugged my iphone in the itunes USB port recognised that my iphone was plugged and synchronization was fine etc.).

But now when I plug my iphone to PC to sync with itunes, I get a pop up box on the lower right part of the screen that reads... "USB not recognized one of the USB devices has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize."

After visiting about 5 different sites now "Ways to solve this problem", believe it or not, I still have the problem bloody! :(

A site proposed shutdown PC and unplug it from the power supply, then plug it back start-up and back... this as did not work!
The other they say that I should go to Device Manager, uninstall all the USBs then restart... it did not work either.
    Tried a system restore
    Tried to reinstall itunes

When I check the names USB in Device Manager, there is one who reads unknown device. I am literally pulling what's left of my hair now. I tried to solve this problem for almost 2 days now and still no joy. That's why no matter what input you guys would be very appreciated. I'm no PC Wizard, so please, don't think you're patronizing me if you break down things step by step for me.

Thank you comrades, cordially, Freddy frustrated. :)

Another said I should go to Device Manager, uninstall all the USBs and restart.

Usually, this works... but can be very dangerous, unless you have a PS/2 keyboard.

I also assume that you have tried all other USB ports on the computer. tried a verified USB device (for example, a flash drive) in the USB usually when you plug in your iPhone. and I tried your iPhone in another computer (I know it's rare for an error message Windows really means what he says, but sometimes the material lacks).

Is the charge of the iPhone when it is connected to the USB port (I don't think)?  This happened to me recently, but a reboot fixed it.  I guess that that happened to you.

I guess that you don't see the error messages in Device Manager or you must declare them.

You can uninstall all USB devices that do not exist as follows:

    • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    • Enter the following command and press enter

    Set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices = 1

    • Start the Device Manager by typing the following in the same command prompt window

    devmgmt.msc

    • In Device Manager, click the view menu and select "Show hidden devices".
    • You should see a category just after "Non-Plug and Play drivers" named "other devices."  Chances are that there will be a big exclamation yellow mark beside it.  When you expand the "other devices" you should see several non identified "USB devices."  Uninstall all this.
    • Reboot (with the iPhone NOT connected).

  • Device to Windows Mobile and Windows 7

I could not find the Windows Mobile Device Center in Windows 7. In addition, when I plug my camera in Windows 7, it does not recognize. Vista had no problems to recognize or sync to the device.

Anyone know where he is at the center of the device in Windows 7 and how to get Windows 7 to recognize the device?

    MitigationElf,
Mobile Device Center will be installed automatically once you connect your mobile device.
If your device is not compatible, you might need to wait until your device support manufacturer releases.
Please remember that Windows 7 is still in testing, official support and adoption must be provided by the manufacturers at the time of the release. Rami

    Hello Rami,

I guess the point of my question was that Windows Mobile Device Center does NOT automatically install in Windows 7 when a compatible device is connected. The T-Mobile wing is fully compatible with Windows 7. (to push the point a bit more, Windows 7 documentation indicates that something compatible with Vista is also compatible with Windows 7, but it is a question of a different thread).

When I plugged my wing in, not Windows 7 has not yet recognized that something had been plugged in, and still less that it is a Windows Mobile 6.1 device.

I have, however, found a workaround. First of all, I found Windows Mobile Device center in the downloads section of the Microsoft.com site and installed it - he aparently comes not packed with Windows 7. Once I did the install and then plugged the Windows Mobile 6.1 device back in, then it is detectable.

Thank you very much for your help!

  • Error: One of the USB devices attached to this system has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.

tried already everything written here. When I plug my USB device (3 of them) my Windows a sad of the USB devices attached to this system has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. I tried plugging it into another winXP machine, it won't work. Can you help me?

    Original title: usb malfunction

    His salvation,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

    1. What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried so far?
    2. If it works much earlier? If so, did you do changes on the computer before this problem?
    3. What type of USB device you are using?

As you mentioned that the USB device does not work when plugged into a WinXP machine, it may be a problem with the device itself. In addition, the question may also arise if the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or damaged or if your PC requires an update for problems that could conflict with a device USB and Windows.

Therefore, I suggest you try the following methods (skip the ones that you already tried) and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Please try the fixit (s) provided below which will help you solve common problems associated with devices and USB ports.

If method 1 does not work, try Method 2.

    Method 2:

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.

    1. Open Manager devices by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click system and security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the list of the categories of equipment, locate and expand Bus USB controllers.
    3. Right-click every device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
    4. Restart the computer and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.
    5. Plug in the removable USB device and test to make sure that the problem is solved.

If the problem persists, go to method 3.

    Method 3:

This method will install the latest drivers from device to your USB device.

    1. Click the Start button, type Windows Update in the search box, and then click Windows Update in the results pane.
    2. Click find updates. When the scan finished, click optional review updates.
    3. Click the check box next to the update, and then click install updates.
    4. If you are prompted, read the license agreement, then click I agree.
    5. Follow the instructions on the screen to download and install updates.
    6. If you are prompted, restart your computer.

More information: Update a hardware driver that is not working properly

If the device fails after updating the driver, you can try to roll back the driver with its previous version.

Restore a driver with its previous version

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.
