backups and hot sync

am a beginner and am not quite understanding things... I have a Palm TX that I sync via USB to a laptop running Vista Home... (doing this for the past 6 months)... I just updated the 6.2 desktop software (I was running 4.3 before the synchronization problem prompted me to upgrade)... I'm not able to search the files of my current office that I've updated since my last sync... any suggestions?... I use retrospect express hd to back up my laptop computer on a weekly basis, but do not see that the files he have all the new data in the files of user/os palm for backup or archive or Memo etc... Please tell us the 'save every 15 minutes' hence it is save and if it's in all areas on things like calendar, Memo, documents, etc... and where I should find these files... also advise if I should save my tx separately rather than according to the backup of the laptop for the files (and why)...

The palm software keeps only a backup. If you have your laptop software to keep multiple copies of backups, you can find multiple copies, but insofar as the palm software it keeps a backup copy of each individual database and a data file.

For example, you
datebook.mdb - data file and
datebook.bak - backup file (data file previous hotsync)

  • Palm desktop by Access and hot sync

    I can post to the wrong part of the forum, but I don't know where to post this.  I upgraded to the new office on my XP computer because I use on my Vista computer and Palm said that I need the same software on both.  In fact, I installed it on another XP computer and it works fine there.  On this computer I can synchronize the memos and addresses, but it will not perform a hot sync my calendar.  I have uninstalled, reinstalled, tried to synchronize each thing separately, and each time it synchronizes memos and addresses and never it synchronize the calendar, which by the way other computers with this software have no problem with.  Any suggestions?

    DbFixIt. It is most likely caused by corruption. Run DbFixIt and then sync with the lines set to handheld overrides desktop for BOTH machines. Make sure that the pipes are returned for synchronization after the first synchronization with each PC.

  • Tungsten T3 Hot Sync in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and WIndows XP mode

    I've upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and now my Palm T3 will not be synchronized.  I downloaded desktop 4.1.4e 6.3 and 4.1.4. I tried all three in both windows 7 and windows XP mode that tells me is a 32-bit o/s but I'm really not sure.  I tried to hot sync in bluetooth in windows 7, as the T3 and laptop connect but he always tells me that the port is used by another program? Does anyone know what I have to do to get it to sync or am I've sentenced to throw my faithful T3 out? Any ideas?

    The Tungsten T3 HotSync driver is not 64-bit capable, this is why you can't get the T3 to HotSync.  Please read this thread to learn more about your options with Windows 7.

  • Hot sync and check for problems.

    Hi, I have just a basic knowledge of the treo and my pc. My pc has windows vista and has been hot sync with my treo680 without any hazzle. But recently, he stopped all hotsync. It shows just a last message to hot sync. I use the hot sync cradle but I can't launch it with the key. Another curious thing is that I can no longer use the search engine on the treo.

    I tried to disable the firewall; but it has not changed anything. Any other suggestions... Anyone who could me help out me. Thank you very much.

    I'm starting to believe in miracles.  I have reinstall my old palm desktop version 4.2 with ver 4.1.2.  As part of the registration process I had to remove the battery and restart again palm treo.  This solves the problem and search function is thus restored.

    Thought that put this line for enemies like me.

    Bought a new computer, upgrading to Windows 7, I get message that there is no driver.  I downloaded the Hotsync palm Web site 6.2 upgrade, but I always get the error message about no driver.  I'm frustrated!  Any thoughts?  Npmoffatt

  • Hot Sync does not

    When I try to Hot-Sync, that's what I get:

    HotSync operation ended up. Some of your data was NOT saved.  Out of storage space during the update of database-MemosDB-Mmtp-abandonment sync.

    How can I fix it.  The Palm OS system is BEST done planning, I can't live without it.  Thank you, Michael

    One thing you might try (if you have not already done, sorry if it has been discussed in this thread and I missed it), is to make a "uninstall own" Palm Desktop, followed by resettlement.  Then Hotsync.  Take a look at this thread.  It is to change your computer's registry, so be very careful.

    I don't think that the amount of data in your calendar is the issue, despite any errors that you have found.  It seems more likely that there is corrupted data.  But it is handheld against his memory capacity?  Check by typing the time in the top left of the main screen of Launcher to open the Menu, and then tap Info which will tell you how much free space is on the device.

    Try to hard reset the device, and then restore from NVBackup.  HotSync and see what happens.  Data in NVBackup, as long as you don't accidentally erase good backup, you're always minutes from restoring your data and try something different.

    6 appointment of Pimlico Software will allow you to purge calendar events more than any date you choose.  So you can unload on the handheld calendar events that have more than, say, four years and keep everything that is more recent.  6 appointments is (was) probably the best, most versatile and most awarded third-party Palm OS application.  Last time I looked, they were offering it at a discount.  There is probably also a free trial, but I've not really looked at who lately.

  • Hot sync problem during the transition to the new PC (Tx)

    I have a Tx six - months old, use exclusively the Palm Desktop (not Outlook on my PC). I have had no problems HotSync with my PC... until the hard drive crashed two weeks ago. I've been actively using my computer to Pocket during these two weeks and have now a new PC I want to synchronize with. PC running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3.

    I installed PalmDesktop 6.2.2 with related Hot Sync Manager. I moved over my data files (e.g. backups) of the old hard drive (maybe I should not have?) When I took office, I jumped the sync bit, since I didn't have a user name and has not been implemented in a new handheld device. I tried to do as well a regular synchronization and a sync with dominant desktop pocket. The two of them start well, but then after a LONG wait, seems to hang on the synchronization of calendar. I gave him several minutes... the two times the app just froze and I had to cancel soft task palm and end on the desktop. I looked in the Safe Sync Hot, but it starts with a 'you will now lose all of your data due to a total reboot so be sure to hot sync first... '. ' - which is hardly useful since it is the HotSync I can't do!

    Suggestions on what to try? I'm desperate to be able to reuse my office - I HATE Graffiti 2 and it takes me forever to the entrance of the things on the handheld.

    If the synchronization is suspended a particular category of PIM, it ususally indicates corruption in the database.

    There may be the database at the source of the problem. Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will search the database and then to declare the corruption. You can then search records at the origin of the problem and fix them yourself or you can buy the program and do it automatically repair records.

  • hot-sync / Verizon Centro

    I was unable to hot-sync my Centro Verizon with my desktop for more than 2 weeks. It will connect and start normally, but then it is hampering all the 2nd part of the synchronization of the agenda. After a while, I have to cancel the operation. I have a third party application called Datebook more, I used for a long time without problem. We have also recently installed a suite of McAfee security on this computer. I even installed Palm Desktop on my laptop and tried to hot-sync the Centro with it, but he got hung up in the same way. Help!

    Sounds like a corruption of database on the Centro.

    I suggest you fix repeatedly recommended here using pimlicosoftware.com DBFixit

    It will look for and fix many errors on your Palm, but may require purchase to fix all of them.

    The "sledgehammer" approach would be to Hard Reset the device (which will erase it) and rename your Folder /Backup on your computer before you do your first Hotsync on the phone recently deleted.

    1. What is the difference between the Safari option in iCloud and the other located in icloud drive? Also, what is the content the other application downloaded from the store sync in icloud drive if the option is enabled? This is something I will never understand

    2. If you want to back up my photos and my messages to put in the new iphone, I have to do a full backup using iTunes or icloud, or there is a way to save only the 2 things? Or possibly make a full backup and then restore only photos and messages, but I don't know if there is an option to do so. For the pictures on that I think activate "icloud library" and then re - download on my new iphone, but for messages?

    3. now I have ios 9.3.1 on my iPhone 5, I won't be able to restore the backup if the new iphone ios 9.3.2?

    Hello Matteo,.

    1 - you don't need to so much backup data of safari at all. If you use your password will be that there anyway, if you're not, having own Safari in a new device could be a good idea to keychain. iCloud drive is another application, you can use it to store any desired data, whereas iCloud parameters in app use their own space, you can see it in settings > general > software & use of iCloud.

    2 - when you save, you cannot back up a few apps or elements, you back up your device all or nothing. If you have the space available, use iCloud music library and photo library iCloud, so all your media go. Anyway, there is no harm in doing a full backup locally in your computer using iTunes, you can remove it once you have restored your device and will be likely to recover more quickly.

    You will need to:

    1. install Palm Desktop 6.2.2 (search for one of Wyrenut sons, where he links to it, a recent reshuffle of the forums by HP removed the stickied thread that kept the top of this forum where it was easy to see);
    2. Install the Aceeca 64 bit drivers (also doing a search here for synchronization with windows 64-bit); and
    3. install PalmHotsyncSetup of www.pimlicosoftware.com , which should make your M500 more compatible with the latest Palm Desktop.

  • Sony clie hot-sync with Palm desktop on Vista (32 bit)

    I got my Clie TH-55(Palm OS 5.2.1) for some time now, say 2 years, but recently, I made the switch to Vista (not by choice, I got a new laptop for free). I had been synchronize my CLIÉ Palm Desktop and so when I got my new laptop, I went and download desktop 4.1.4e in the hopes that I could continue the sync on vista. The installation went well, it is, I can do a hot sync but none of my data transfers. If I create a new contact on my handheld, it will not be displayed on the desktop and even vice versa. When I check the hot sync log, it says that there are no errors. I didn't know if I should go to the forums of Palm or Clie forums so I apologize if this is no longer a Clie problem which should be in the forums of clie. Thanks in advance...

    I found the problem, it had to do with the running of the Office to palm as an administrator. Once that I thought that was the problem, I put it to always run as administrator.

  • Double list appointments on nursery hot sync

    For some reason, my hot sync hangs up on the Agenda because it is listed twice and therefore allows to synchronize the first and stuck on the second and I have to finish with the Task Manager and unplug the Centro to break out of a loop is in.  It comes from start so not sure what is happening.  Worked fine at first. If anyone can help... I have a Centro and am using Windows XP Pro and try to sync it with my Palm Desktop.

    Only a configuration option for each pipe in the hot Sync Manager so I can not uncheck.  Finally, I went in the chat room and ended up after a lot of time to do a hard reset and it seems to work at the moment but double pipes still show in the hot box sync so it can reproduce.  Thanks for all your help.  I can just pay for the dbfixit and try that again.

  • A backup made with "Backup And Restore" on xperia z2 cannot be downloaded to a synchronization service?

    I backed up my xperia messages, contacts and more... (checked eveything) in "Backup And Restore" application and I chose to go back to my sd card. Now, when I go to the command file and look for the back up, I can't find (the file is that contains all the data that I saved), also it is not present in my memory. The reason why I want to find is that I want to upload to syncing like Dropbox or Mega service, because it takes so much space on my sd card.

    I tried to find the backup also file to manage the files from the device to the computer, but it is not found, and if I browse the application backup and restore on my xperia, I see that I can restore the backup that I did.

    However, is it possible that I can download the backup that I did with backup and restore application on my xperia to a synchronization service?
