battery vs AC power

I have a query related to battery use. If the AC adapter is plugged into a wall outlet and the battery is inside the laptop, what is laptop using, the battery or the power supply? I asked this question through HP chat and they said that the unit uses current when it is connected to the wall jack or no battery is inside.

I forrgot to ask was: fact reduce the battery life if I play high end games with power sector and connected to the laptop battery?

If the answer to the previous question is considered, then not any problem with him, since the laptop uses power. But many of my friends have got warned against it, so I want to confirm this. The thing is done, it adds to the cycle of batttery when it remains connected to an electrical outlet?

This error is a bit confusing.  At first glance it seems to refer to the CMOS/RTC battery but actually refers to the main battery to the laptop.  Even if the computer indicates that the battery is at 100%, it would be a good idea to check that it is in working condition.  I think that it is a good first step, because although it doesn't show 100% charge, you say the laptop does not work unless it is on current alternative.  This paper addresses the issue further.

As indicated in the document, the HP Battery Check will be performed to determine if the battery is faulty.

To perform battery check do the following and display the result.

    1. Unplug the power cord and turn the computer off.
    2. Press on the button / stop to turn on the computer.
    3. Press the ESC key immediately seeing the HP or Compaq logo screen.
    4. The Start menu appears.
    5. Press F2 to select F2 System Diagnostics .
    6. Select battery Test in the list of diagnostic tests.
    7. Connect the power supply cable.
    8. Click Start Test Battery on the battery Test page.

If your battery fails this test, it will need to be replaced.  To get a spare battery, you will have to contact HP Support.  If you are in the USA / Canada you can call to the 1-800-474-6836.  If you are located outside of this area, you will need to go to the HP support site and after selecting your country, search for "Customer Support" in the lower right corner to get contact information for your region.

    I hope this helps!

  • How to charge the battery if the power input is damaged?

The decision-making power on my 4070CDT satellite was damaged and the laptop will no longer take power or charge the battery from this socket. (Attempts to re - solder the joint damaged power detection circuits!)

Does anyone know if I can feed the appropriate voltage (10.8 v?) to the battery contacts in the battery casing to keep the laptop going, and if so, which comes into contact with and what tolerance on the voltage?

(Application of 12v through the + ve and a particular contact - EV seems to persuade the power management software, it runs on sector without battery, but after 20 seconds the laptop turns off.)

    Any ideas? Thank you.

    Hello

In my opinion to do something like that, you have to be an expert and know very well the construction of the motherboard and electronic load.

Sorry, but I don't see a great chance to do that successfully. Try to contact the Service partner. Perhaps, they can give you a useful tip.

    Good luck!

  • Battery management or power?

According to Power Manager (2.5), my battery is in good condition. But when I'm running on the battery, everything shuts down after a few minutes when the gauge indicates that the battery is about 85% charged. Can I plug, turn it on and the battery meter indicates that it is 8% charged and load. It is extremely annoying. It's happened to me before and I've updated the power management software and things have improved. I've updated again (2.5) and I have a problem everything again. What should do?

Try the method of BIOS, I've mentioned, but it really looks like a physical hardware problem with the battery.

  • BlackBerry Leap Leap battery suddenly draining power VERY quickly

I bought a new blackberry leap July 26.

The battery has been fantastic since acquisition - was very impressed - get home at the end of the day and it is still about 60 percent, could still squeeze a second day without recharging at night, if I do not use too much the next day.

Suddenly, last Sunday (August 9), he began to drain the battery like crazy... and I was not still use it.  I did work in my house and my phone was sitting in the kitchen and I heard the notification that he had devoted to the battery in watch mode in early afternoon (after being fully charged when I woke up in the morning).

Since then, (yesterday and today too), he's bleeding like crazy.

I have fully charged it last night, it is now 1:30 and I woke up at 7:00, and is at 29% left battery power.

I haven't added new applications or do something different since Sunday.

When I go to "battery use" in the settings, it shows that the 'system' is with 51%.  The next most high is "Standby" 9.9%, then view at 3.4 percent.

Any help/suggestions?    I was so impressed by the battery until 3 days ago!

The software is 10.3.2.2168 (and I've not being updated since the day wherever I bought it when I did a software update).

    Thank you!

I wanted to give you an update...

No idea why / that that has happened, I have nothing else...

But when I connected again load after the validation, I noticed it drains more and had returned to the battery usage screen showing 1 + days of use and usage of the system went down at 0.86%, with display currently th ehighest at 1%.

Anyway, the good news is that it is fixed, of course, the bad news is don't know why it happened, or how he slipped, therefore keep your fingers crossed it doesn't happen.

Maybe just posting here is the magical solution!

  • Taskbar icon battery lack of power management options after upgrade to Windows 7

    Hello

I just upgraded to Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit on my HP dv4t laptop.

Under Vista, when I left click on the battery icon on the right side of the taskbar (next to the clock), I would see three power - recommended HP options, saving energy and high performance. It was excellent. Click on the stack, click the option to that I actually wanted.

I have just upgraded to Windows 7. When I left click on the battery icon, I see only 2 power options - one that is currently active and HP recommended. That means whoever I want to never in the list. You see, I don't use never HP recommended, and if Power Saver is active, it is in the list... but if Power Saver is selected and I want to spend, which is why I must click the icon of the battery in the first place, it is because I want to choose something else than the day before.

This suppression of the feature is frustrating. How can I get the three points to be in the list yet? If not, how can I remove HP recommended in the list?

    Thank you!
    Eric

    Ericpdx,

It is a feature, which was invited in many forums in the days of Beta version. We didn't get no answer or how to reactivate. We thought, Windows 7 RC will come with this missing feature, but in any case it didn't.

It was posted in a forum, a member who needed too (I don't know why). I agree that this is not a direct solution for the functionality you want. I just posted, if this can help you in any case.

    Hello

If you are still in the period of time where you can return the machine and get it replaced, it's definitely what I would suggest - you shouldn't be troubleshooting a whole new machine and it sounds like a hardware problem.

  • Remove the battery during fixed power supply

    Hello

I was told that the best practice to extend the life of the battery is to delete during fixed power supply (most of the day I'm stationary and near a power source).

My question is, can I do this while the machine is running? Is it safe to just plug in the power and then remove the battery?

    Thank you

    Roee.

    (1) best practices to prolong battery for extended storage should be kept charged between 40 and 60%. If you want to store the battery away or leave it in the laptop will not really affect the longevity of the battery. Also, the battery can act as an inverter, which is desirable in many situations.

You can set the threshold of support under the thinkvantage power manager-> battery-> battery care.

    (2) If you want to remove the battery, you can do in the when the machine is running or you start the laptop without the battery inserted (as long as you have connected the power supply ).

    (3) If you will be running the laptop without the battery with an adapter 65 watts your CPU running at reduced speed to ensure that it has enough power going to the laptop is another system. Only the 90-Watt adapter can provide enough power to run the processor at full speed, without the battery installed.

  • How to use the battery and the power cord in a smart way?

Is it possible to do a power management, that use the battery as long as there is power in the battery and the first when there is no more power use the external power supply, which has been active all the time without loss of battery charge?

Batteries wear out with use.  And they can wear out more when you do not use unless you physically remove them.  If you travel a lot, you will have to bite the bullet and buy new batteries every two years.  If you are usually connected to a power outlet, remove the battery and it will last much longer.  For more details, refer to the User Guide.  Different brands and models my vary in their recommendations.

    Good luck.

  • is it safe to run my compaq presario cq62 without the battery and the power cord attached?

My laptop told me that my battery should replace... I have to keep my power cord in now all the time coz my battery poer only changed as 5 minutes... is it safe out of my battery and run the laptop the power cord?

    Hello:

    Yes, you can do it.

Is it a matter of having a lighter weight?

You can also run the power cord with the battery installed.

Sometimes the battery is so bad that you have to remove and the laptop will not work with the battery removed and plugged power cord.
