Black screen HP Pavilion dv7-4060us

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-4060us is about 3-1/2 years. I have a black screen and it now won't start at all. He has also been more recent times of heating. I took it to a local repair guy and he said I need a new motherboard to a height of $200. It is better to fix it or should I get a second opinion?

200 is pretty cheap for a laptop in my opinion motherboard replacement, only you can determine if it is worth it or not.

How long the shop is guaranteed the motherboard, what they will install?

Most likely, it is a motherboard used, ask them.

    Hello

Unfortunately the "blink" codes are not always an accurate indication of the actual error, so this may be one hardware failure of another component on the motherboard.

    Try the following.

Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery.  Follow the procedure begins on Page 52 of your Interview Guide & Service to remove the battery from the RTC.

Press and hold power for 30 seconds and then leave the laptop for 15 minutes.

Exchange your module memory 4 GB in the other available slot.  Reinsert the RTC battery, replace the cover, plug the power adapter ( Let the main battery at the moment ) and try to start the laptop.

    Any change?

    Kind regards

  • Fan (90 b) system error / HP Pavilion dv7-4060us

Hello. I have a Pavilion dv7-4060us for laptop, Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 - bit. I had an overheating problem not too long ago which caused my notebook to close on its own. I bought a cooling package to help with the overheating, which helped. But now, whenever I boot, it gives me a black screen, read "operating system has found that a cooling fan has stopped working" or something similar. The error code was 'System fan (90 b)'. How can I get rid of this error message? Post here or join my email [email protected]. Thank you.

  • Pavilion dv7 4060us: dv7 4060us graphics driver under Win 10

I may be beating a dead here horse I did a bit of research on this issue, but I thought I would try once more on the HP forums.

I have a good Pavilion dv7 4060us I use to transport my QuickBooks files and inventory with me at the customer site, or when I'm away from the office. I bought it in 2010-2011 because of its performance and price point. The fact that it is a mobile entertainment isn't really the problem. By that I mean I played a DVD or two on it, but that is not its primary mission.

Having said all that, I, as a Microsoft Insider (aren't we all?) I tried Win 10 since last October. I have five other computers in my company to update to Win 10 very well. Desktop computers.

But, and I knew better, I leave my dv7 update win 10 home (Win 7 Home) update the graphics drivers under Win 10 HP, even tho ' the review date seems to be August 5 (or 8) 2015, seems to not work. The laptop uses generic LCD drivers from Microsoft. Not the end of the world, but I wonder if anyone has found a way to resolve this display problem. I see that wil HP does not support for this combination hybrid AMD card (5650/4250 HD). I used the Compatibility Mode in the past with some success. In any case, this post was long enough... I can roll it back to Win 7 Home, but I really don't like the appearance of this computer entertainment.

Any thoughts, or should I just shut up and go away?

    Thank you, DD

I appreciate your concern for my situation, thank you. I did all of this, including finding a compatible driver supposedly this material on the website of AMD. When I looked at AMD site this month / last month, they said that they will not only support the material under Win 10 (said the same HP, actually, but I'm stubborn). Imagine my surprise when I found that the site would allow me to download a driver today for the HD 5650/4200 under Win 10 64-bit. But it doesn't install properly, be and gives me the same dialog box: No. AMC graphics driver is currently installed or it is not working properly.

Maybe I'm not fluent in the AMD/ATI products and update I'm with nVidia graphics, I use in my other machines without any problem.

In any case, I thank everybody help, but I spent too much time on this question; I'm done. I can use the 4060 as it is. Former systems engineer, I felt sure I could fix it but apparently not. In any case, no worries and thank you!

    Kind regards

    DD

  • Blue screen error-Pavilion DV7 - 6B 91 nr printing

I have Windows 7 64 bit on my HP DV7 - 6B 91 and HP Officejet 6500, printer all-in-one.  About 6 out of 10 times when I print a document, I get the Blue error screen, and the computer shuts down. The computer is less than four months.   I have uninstalled and reinstalled my printer and that did not work.  Back to where I bought it, I took the computer and they assign the factory that fixed the problem for about 3 weeks.  Then Assistant HP did some updates and the Blue error screen came back whenever I print.  Help, please!

    bama1027,

It was the correct link, but after a little more research, I think you need to do another back http://goo.gl/QzDPF, which is what it sounds like events when you took it back to the place you bought.

Make sure that you back up your files before you do.

  • blue screen on pavilion dv7 - igdpmd64.sys

I keep getting blue screens complain of igdpmd64.sys x 00000050.  That day, I noticed that I suddenly started getting blue screens Windows installed a bunch of windows 7 x 64 update.  Does anyone know if the recent windows updates can cause this?

Sometimes I can't even restart normally when it occurs.  I had to restore a previous version.

We had the same problem with our HP DV7 laptop.

You must uninstall the KB2670838 of update of Windows that causes this problem.

    The problem goes away.

I found solution RL in the HP Forum and forum of Microsoft.

Apparently this problem appears also on laptops DV6T and perhaps other models.

  • HP Pavilion a375c: black screen, the Pavilion a375c locking

All making a normal email on my computer screen suddenly froze and the computer does not respond to all keyboard input or mouse.

I used the power button to turn the computer off and start it again.

The video monitor showed nothing if I turn it off and on, and then he showed "no signal".

I have a keyboard and a wireless mouse, and I noticed that the receiver, that normally flashes blue when a device accesses, was dark, no activity.

Turn on the PC, there was a brief (3 seconds) of the disk activity, then nothing.  The fan works.

I took it to Geek Squad, they feel that the video card is bad, because no signal comes out of it and yet it is powered.  So my questions:

    1. what this diagnosis make sense?  Surprised that it would interrupt in the Middle using the PC.  No new appliances, surge, etc. have been introduced.  Also surprised that a video problem seems to prevent what anyone else.  I assumed that if I used the keyboard, which could invoke an activity of the disk, but all i/o devices appear to be non-functional.

    2. technician claims that it can find a replacement video card since I am running XP.  Amazon and eBay are full of advice that claim XP compatibility, but I do not know what card should I look for to make a selection.  My model is retired so there is nothing on the HP site I can find to provide technical advice.  Does anyone know of a replacement suitable for this machine, card assuming it's really the problem?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.  I'm leaving out countery Tuesday and really need this PC work to finish a job.

Okay, Yes, you have an AGP x 8 slots for graphics then.

I don't know much on NVidia 5200 graphics except that they are closer no graphics as possible without no graphics.  Your PC has a TV tuner?  The card you have does not seem to support this, but I don't know why.

Try the following search on ebay:

    Vamery 9550 256 MB DDR AGP 8 X VGA

It should take you right to the issue I mentioned.  I checked the reference of the pass mark on this v. the NVidia 5200 card and this card is 5 times more powerful than the option of NVidia.  In addition, it should work safely in your PC.  The price is $20.85 ppd, which is not too bad at the end of the day.  It also comes with the driver software.

I recommend running it through your contact Geek Squad and see how it feels as an option on this subject.

    NVidia 5200 Passmark benchmark: 7

    Radeon 9550 Passmark references: 35

Higher is better compared to the indicators.  Indicates the ability of the rendering graphics card...

    Hello

First of all, regarding the manual of maintenance on the link below--remove and reposition your bars of memory.

If the above makes no difference try the following.

Again, regards to the manual on the link below, delete one of your modules from memory and then see if the computer will start.  If it doesn't, try the same module, but in another location.  If it is still won't start, try the other memory module in both slots, to see if any combination will allow the laptop to boot up normally.

The procedure for withdrawal of these modules is detailed from Page 63 of your & Maintenance Guide.

    Kind regards

  • HP Pavilion dv7-1269us stopped himself turn off reboot screen black

My HP Pavilion dv7-1260us went 'pop' and turns off.

I hit the power button. The LEDs (sound, WiFi, etc.) in line with the power button all came on but the screen stays black and the fan was running.

I turned it off. I turned it on with the same results. I unplugged the AC and the battery. I repeated several times and the results have remained the same.

With the battery and unplugged HQ, I held the button for 30 seconds. Re-installed the battery and AC with the same results. I have also repeated this process several times. I also did this procedure with only battery reinstalled with the same results.

I opened the DVD player and inserted the CD 1 of 2 restore disks. Then I turned on the computer. The fire came what is on the DVD player door then spun it and the light went all the time that the screen was black. I repeated this process with the same results.

I always get a black screen with all led on/autour lit keyboard lights and the fan runs whenever I try to start.

In addition to the led lights is lit, a flashing white light is to the left of the "caps lock" key and a 2nd white flashing in between the "end" and "page up" keys every time.

I had my Hp dv7 notebook for a few months now and have had no problems. But all of a sudden, I turn on the computer and see nothng but a white, black screen. I don't know if I changed the display settings or what, but I do not see anything. I know that the computer is running because the fan starts and the lights on the keyboard are working. • Pavilion dv7-6c75eo: 10 start Windows (black screen for about 1 min.)

Windows 7 (System. org) was running fast and good.

Updated to 10 and after a few reboots, it has been installed and working.

whenever I start cold blue windows logo appears and the device goes into screen black.

It remains so for at least 1 minute and then the login screen appears. All the drivers are updated day/install.

I tried to do a clean 10 x 64 Windows and installed well installation and rebooted.

This time it was much faster (a few seconds) and I went into the Device Manager.

I could see that Windows installed the drivers for various devices like the unknown devices disappeared one by one.

Some time after (with 1 remaining peripheral unknown not related to the problem) it restarts.

Now I'm on the black screen again whenever I restart.

I hope that the description of this issue is understandable

I've updated the hard drive on a disk of 120 GB and second disk SSD Intel with a disk of 1000 GB new

    Data sheet:

    RAM: 8 GB DDR 665 MHz (9-9-9-24)

    MB: HP 1803

    The solution is either:
    ¤ Accept the loooooong delay
¤ Do not upgrade for Windows 10

    Hi there @SVJ69

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff.

I understand that you get a white screen when you turn on your system. I'm happy to help you with this. I would recommend that you start with searching through this page. Since the construction in and external display do not respond, I would start with the displays.
