  This looks like a problem with your printer, not Microsoft Windows. Try the following:

  -Remove the ink cartridge and check it for damage. Replace if necessary.

  -Try to use a new cartridge; the contacts on the old can be damaged.

  -Maybe your paper is too thin or absorbent. Try a different paper brand.

  -If no other solution doesn't work, the problem is probably the printer itself. You may need to replace it. (You don't need to do unless nothing else works)

  Message seemed to change all cartridges - I changed two a couple of days, so they need not all change - black was about due for a change, so I took them all out - replaced black... had the same message...

  Replaced all - same message now also "one or more cartridges are missing or damaged.  I stop the printer and also rebooted my computer, but the error message is still displayed.   Someone mentioned a hard reset previously, but the link is not led anywhere... can anyone help?  Thank you very much...

  Please have a look through this guide, an 'ink cartridge failure', not 'compatible ink cartridges', or 'Ink cartridge problem' Error Message appears on the printer. You will want to ensure that you are using genuine HP cartridges does not, and if one of your colors is low or empty, they will need to be replaced as well.   In the paper here troubleshooting steps can help solve the black print is not in your Officejet printer 4630.

  In a pinch, you can go to the configuration of the driver and select the type of paper Photo paper.  This will use the color cartridge to print in black.

• want 120 cartridge problem

  I'm having a problem with my printer HP Envy 120 new.

  On switching on, the 'cartridge problem' screen appears, saying: "one or more cartridges appear to be damaged.

  There is a black icon below this text but no color.

  I have assumed that meant that the color cartridge did not work. I went back to the store and got a new cartridge color under warranty.

  However, with the new cartridge installed, I still get the same message. Means, therefore, that it is the Black cartridge that is defective?

  I can print pictures in color with my HP8600 but all the text - no matter of what color is selected - print in black.  I just changed all color cartridges.  They are all HP cartridges.  The parameters are high quality grayscale and printing all black is disabled.  This happens in Printmaster and Microsoft Office Word.

  High quality grayscale uses three colors to make it black. It is called composite black. You must modify the sRGB or something else in grayscale.

  This problem has been fixed by uninstalling Google Earth for some reason any it messes up Firefox when I install it.

  (1) once the page opens, please select the country in which you are located. Then enter your model of HP on the right number.
  
  (2) then choose "Contact the Support" tab at the top and scroll to the bottom of the page "HP Support - contact" to fill out the form with your details.
  
  (3) Once finished, click the "Show Options" at the bottom right.
  
  (4) Finally, scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Get a phone number." A file number and telephone number will now fill for you.

  The diagnosis page uses a mixture of color and black inks to print the text on the page.  This is so that the diagnostic information can be read, even if the black part does not work.  The behavior on the page of diagnosis does not reflect how normal text is printed.

  Note that if the photo paper is selected in the selection of media the printer will use only the color inks and photo to print black same text as black pigmented ink is not compatible with photo paper.
