BlackBerry Pearl to curve smartphones

I had a Pearl (well 3 in a week) before making my curve.  I does not uninstall the software and download it again when I got it.  Need to do with the Desktop Manager? or is it OK to use what has been loaded with the Pearl?

Thank you

What version did you have before?

I found that explains the differences between 4.1 - 4.3: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB05433

I'm still trying to find what is different between 4.3 to 4.6

You can always download the software. The operating system on your device does not depend on the version number of the Desktop Manager.

I just got the 9105 on Vodafone UK.

The device confirms the following information under Options / about:

    V5.0.0.696 (platform 6.2.0.57).

The Web of Blackberry site (under "software download for Vodafone UK") propose the following update:

    Package Version: 5.0.0.1468

Major operating system level is 5.0. But the revision in which is what it offers updated of current votre.696 of the more recente.882. You are 100% correct, when you look at the download portal, it's information "Requests" to compare to your OS version, comparing the 4 bytes.

It looks like the software is indeed having problems connecting via USB... Here is a list of troubleshooting items... I hope that something will be useful:

In addition, make sure you use only the root USB ports... without hubs (sometimes the front-end ports are hubs... use a rear USB port). And don't forget to try to disable the USB power management in the configuration of your system (Device Manager).

Check also on the incompatible software... it was reported that NTI Shadow Ninja & software can cause a conflict; Remove and reinstall the desktop software BB allows to install correctly.

My apologies in advance if this is redundant - there is no way to be sure that if you have already seen and tried these. Also apologies if all are not currently available... RIM takes their monte and descends at will as they revise things.

I thought we were working on upgrading your OS 5.x? But if 6.x is available somewhere (you'll have to dig around the portals of download for various carriers know... but I think that AirCell / region P may be hit), then a PC, you can install any bundle of BONES to a BB via this procedure:

Note that although written for "reload", it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or recharge - it depends on the OS package you download and install on your PC. You can even use a different OS package carriers simply insert, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, a file named PROVIDER. XML. remember that you remove from your PC, no matter what other packages devices OS BB as having more than one installed on the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

    Hello

    My carrier is t-mobile.

The first problem occurred using the original firmware and current sactioned from t-mobile.  (Application version: 4.6.0.180)

It happened the weekend of 2 days after that I got on the phone.  It was in my pocket.  I took it out to check the time and pressing the side buttons did not turn on the external monitor.  So I opened it and the internal screen did not come on either.  Then I tried to hit the power button, no power.  I tried to hold the power button for a while has yet no power.  So I had to do a hard reset by pulling the battery.  As expected, he went through the process long and worked after that.

Hoping to solve the first problem.  I searched online for answers and found more recent but not sanctioned by the t - mo firmware.

The first one I installed was the Version of Application: 4.6.0.236

I did have the problem of the closure since then, but I had a BOUNCING accident, when I try to check text messages.  It happened once with Application Version: 4.6.0.236, who was running for 2 days.  3 days ago, I loaded the Version of the Application 4.6.0.222.  It happened while I was with this version as well.

    Description of the problem:

In the home screen, I select the messages icon and click on it.  The hold icon appears and remains until I have shut down the phone.  So if I open the phone to the top of the screen is white except for a strip at the top that contains icons battery and connectivity.  I have to return the phone to a functional State, perform a hard reset by pulling the battery.  When she returns the text I received has disappeared.

I received a total of 5 texts in this time.  I don't know what said 40% of my received texts.  This is unacceptable.

I like a lot of the text entry phone and the caller capacity wi - fi.  I want to keep but won't if I have these problems are not fixed before my trading period is in place.  It ends in 6 days.

Does anyone have an idea if they are hardware or software problems?  Maybe I have a defective phone?

I currently have the intention to return to the original firmware.

Hi swordfishj360, with regard to the text of the message problems many users past 4.6.0.180 had this problem of update. That's why I stay with 180. So to answer your question, the more likely software. I also had my phone stop once like you did about two weeks ago. I got my phone in October when it came out and it was the only problem that I had. It was because of software that I downloaded, once it has been deleted, everything was back to normal. There were positions of phones rebooting several times a day, do not know what were the questions. If it happened only once you then it may have been a glitch in the OS or the software or the theme that has been installed.

  • BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Smartphones No browser icon

Hiya... I'm in a world of pain...

Sorry - a little background on this...

In 2009 my husband bought me a new Blackberry Pearl 8100 on the internet (he doesn't remember exactly where). I put my sim O2 existing in this document, expecting to be able to access the internet/email, but none were available to me. A simple call to O2 clarified was that one - my sim card Pay & Go and at that time, O2 did not Blackberry web & email on Pay & Go. I use it as a phone for a bit, got irritated (searched internet and emails!) and bought a Samsung Tocco lite which I was using until last week when I discovered that, since last July, O2 were now internet Blackberry on Pay & Go.

So, I'm quite excited about buy a bolt on O2, push my sim in my beautiful Blackberry Pearl, get excited when I see the new icons for Facebook and Google, etc... and then I realize that there is no browser option. No globe icon, nothing. The only way I can see a browser icon if I have the menu button and select "Switch Application". The "phone says 'request', then gives me an option to sign up for Yahoo Messenger. If I hit the 'back' button, the screen is empty. If I accept 'Download', I get: "sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Yahoo."

I have set up my email and they work fine. If I click on the links in the emails, I just get a white screen.

I spoke to O2 who said that "all's fine their end" and there is no reason why I can't find a browser icon. They told me to check the latest Blackberry download so my "phone is updated. So, I installed what I believe to be the latest version, but that had no effect.

A battery pull (Finally, a hundred of them in fact...) has also no effect).

I'm close to launch the thing caught fire in the wall. Please help me save my beautiful little ' call from such a cruel fate... of ideas?

    (OS release: v4.2.193)

    Hello!

I suggest the following, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message to your BB to come):

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network

    (2) Service reference books

    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If not, then you could investigate new update of your BB OS... Here's a process for it:

From a PC, you can install any bundle of BONES to a BB via this procedure:

Note that although written for "reload", it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or recharge - it depends on the OS package you download and install on your PC. You can even use a different OS package carriers simply insert, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, a file named PROVIDER. Don't try to transfer it to your sim card.

Desktop Manager allows you to make a full backup of the device.  Get your replacement camera, then restore the backup to it.  In addition, you could synchronize with Outlook and then sync again.  However, the backup is the easiest way if you are going to get another BB.
