Boning a Checksum

Hi all

If someone's feeling intelligent I have a puzzle to solve (I can pay in beer or congratulations)

We have a need to create a message as each line below, but need to recreate the checksum. It emulates a piece of kit around 1984 based on a chip 8031. Here's what we know...

The last 2 bytes are a checksum, I tried different options (XOR, 2 s Comp, CRC) without success. My guess is that it will be a simple algorithm due to his age and the processing power. The first byte corresponds to the address and may or may not be included.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated if you crack it I will love you forever!

Lots of love

Steve Watts

  • Checksum in the column of boxes

I'm new on numbers and difficulties with the checksum formula in a column of boxes. Sounds simple? but when I put in the formula = COUNTIF (C2:C5, "= TRUE") the box shows 1 when nothing is checked, then if I go to a checkbox, the entire line disappears!  What I am doing wrong?  Then I want to take the true statements on average in the next box.

I'm looking forward to how this works!  I really like the numbers program this far and the way he looks, but this problem form got me really frustrated!

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi BZmom,

Table 1 has a header row. Which allows a formula designate all the lines of the body.

A1 of table 1-1 formula = COUNTIF (table 1::A, TRUE)

C1 of table 1-1 formula = COUNTIF (table 1::C, TRUE)

The results are in another table.

You can insert instead of two rows of footer to table 1 to contain the formulas, but your screenshot shows a page layout that I found it difficult to fix it.

Cell borders set to None to give a smooth, as in your screenshot.

    Kind regards

    Ian.

  • Error checksum R100

I have 3 Toshiba Portege R100s running Windows XP SP1/SP2. They all suffer from a checksum on boot up error which of course disappears once you press F1 and end in the BIOS. Utility Tester memory from Toshiba has been run on each of them and all 3 of the laptop fell into the range of laptops that need repair under the Exchange program memory from Toshiba.

While being repaired by Toshiba, 2 laptops had their replace RTC battery (either the battery has been replaced by an authorized Toshiba repair shop). Within 2 days after their return, all laptops still raised an error at startup control. Each laptop is running the latest BIOS, the same software, and I went through the list posted checksum errors troubleshooting of Toshiba.

Anyone out there suffering from that? I have a laptop on the way just in case.

Price, we can only speculate because I heard that it is not the same for each service. Unfortunately, we have a? free help? and all licensed services can offer own prices. Contact the nearest service and ask how much will cost the cheque or the exchange of the CMOS battery.

  • I need to access older versions of FireFox and checksum for these files.

For each version below, I need to download installation file and checksum md5/shaXXX of Mozilla for each download.

    WindowsOS: Firefox v3.5, v3.6

    Solaris 10 x 86: Firefox v3.5, v3.6

    Solaris sparc: v3.6.17 Firefox

                  filename: firefox-3.6.17.en-US.solaris-10-fcs-sparc-pkg

All you want for current Firefox 3.6 is on the server FTP here:

There are two large files for the MD5 and SHA1 sums everything. Solaris is under the dir. of contrib

The current version of Firefox 3.x is 3.6.23. Firefox 3.5 is no longer supported and Firefox 3.6 is considered to be a direct update (aka minor update) to Firefox 3.5. When Firefox 3.5 users check the updates, they go directly to 3.6 for the security and stability fixes.

If you really need an older version for testing purposes, you can get any version of Firefox that has ever existed of the FTP server:

  • Satellite A100 BIOS update - BAD CHECKSUM

I've just updated my BIOS to version 6.0 that TOSHIBA said > 26/11/07 "this Bios update adds functionality to your system: Satellite A100 Toshiba 6, 00 - WIN (PSAAN).»

    My original BIOS was 5.9
My computer works fine A100-33 but when my computer restarts, showed it to the BLACK screen.

I noticed that it displays BAD CHECKSUM and suugested I select default BIOS but I * ignored this advice * that wanted this new Version of the BIOS.

What means BAD CHECKSUM and what effects will have on my computer peformance please if any?

Under the system information that is displayed for my BIOS Version/Date Phoenix Technologies LTD 6.00, 07/12/2007

Name of the Microsoft OS? ® Windows Vista Home Basic

    Hello

Don t worry if the message "bad checksum" will appear only once.

'Bad checksum' means that the BIOS has been changed, rewritten or settings have been restored by default. Thus, whenever you save your bios settings, bios made a "checksum" to check the next time you start the settings were stored and all goes well. If something is wrong or has been changed, then the checksum stored since the last save a Don t match real new generated checksum.

So if you make an update of the bios, all your settings will be modified logic - you get an error "Bad Checksum".

Another reason for such "Bad Checksum" is an empty BIOS stack or a malfunction, so BIOS cannot keep it s settings and you will get every time you start the computer a message "Bad Checksum".

  • Satellite 5105-S501 - Bad checksum (rom)

    Hi I have a Satellite 5105-S501.

When I start it say bad checksum (rom), press F1 to the default settings.

After I press F1 it says I have to insert systemdisc and press a key.

    What is a systemdisc?

Can someone please help me solve this problem or I have to hand it get fixed?

    Sincerely

    Peter Hammarstrm

"Checksum error/omission" may appear for different reasons.

    A question:
You access the BIOS after pressing F1?

Generally, this error appears if the CMOS battery is empty. In this case, you must connect to the AC adapter to the laptop and should leave it for about 20 to 48 hours connected to AC power.
Then try again to access the BIOS and set the defaults.

    Check it out

    Hello

This message always appears during the clean boot procedure or it appeared only once?

Generally 'bad checksum' error message if the CMOS battery does not work correctly.

But I have no idea why you get this message after update BIOS... Anyway if the laptop works correctly after updating the BIOS then you should t be worried.

  • Satellite Pro U200 - incorrect checksum error (ROM (data block))

Hello when I run my Satellite Pro U200 Toahiba
    I have an error

    Incorrect checksum (ROM (data block))
    PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUES.

    Pleas Help

The most common cause for the mistakes of "Bad Checksum" is the CMOS battery on the motherboard failure.
The battery may be empty or could have been dead. But it's really not easy to say exactly what's wrong!

Therefore, I recommend first to access the BIOS and set it to default settings. Don t forget to save the changes.
More you must connect to the AC adapter and should leave it plugged during on 24 hours to recharge the battery CMOS.

Maybe it helps to get rid of this error message.
If it doesn't help, then you should contact a technician for laptop!

  • Tecra M5 does not record the date and time - battery RTC or CMOS checksum is inconsistent

My Tecra M5 PTM50E reverend new does not record the date and time. I loaded RTC battery for 8 hours when electricity is on in the said user's manual. I don't know where is the problem. The BIOS settings are respect after power is on.

When I change any value in the BIOS, the changes are saved properly but date & time system restored to their value 01/01/2000, 00:00 every time when I get out of turning off more of 2-3 min. Message "RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent.

Press [F1] to set Date/time"does not appear when I power on the computer. Any suggestions?

    Hi guys

Usually this problem appears only if the CMOS (real time clock) battery is empty or corrupted.
The real time clock battery powers the internal clock in real time and calendar. It also maintains the system configuration. If the RTC battery is completely discharged, the system loses these data and the real-time clock. In this case, the message RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent appears.

So I see only two possibilities:
Either you will charge the battery for real-time clock, or you ask the technician for replacement.

Generally, the battery must be completely charged after 8-9 hoers but try to connect the laptop to the power adapter for a long time.
If it will not help solve the problem if you contact the ASP for the RTC battery replacement.

    Hello

It seems that your RTC battery is empty or damaged!
Bad checksum can also mean something with your system is wrong!

You should try to enter the BIOS and load the default values. BIOS can be entered with pressing ESC directly after turning it on!

  • Does not start Satellite A200 - checksum of the header file is possibly corrupted

Does my Toshiba Satellite A200 on Vista.

The following message appears on the screen: "the file is maybe damaged. The checksum of the file header does not match the checksum calculated.

I tried reinstall drive, but it does not solve the problem.
The following message is displayed: status: = xc0000428 (as well as instructions that do not seem to help at all).

    What can I do?

    Hello

You mean that the new installation of operating system using Toshiba Recovery disk didn't?
Hmmm, in this case, it seems like a RAM problem

I searched a bit on the net about this error and found some info that might be linked to the faulty RAM memory.

You should try to verify if a single one single module of RAM is affected.
Otherwise you need to replace the two modules and then should try reinstalling the operating system.
