Brocade 4424

Does anyone know how to clear the root user on a Brocade M4424 for the M1000e switch? I got a hold of support of Brocade, but they said I need to contact Dell to clear the root user. I've got 3 x of the switches, which currently have no support contract. I work for a dealer, these switches actually come directly from Dell. Someone at - it a procedure to reset/Reset FW?

Any help would be much appreciated-

Let me answer my own post in over a year. :))) While I have potentially met the same 3 new switches - we had to use anything else than the last time. Since then we successfully anchored a M5424 - so I dug a bit, maybe 40 mintues deep. And am out laughing hard now. I read 3-4 reset all long procedures, 'fun' to research involving the modification of procedures - initialize variables, etc. Then I put 2 and 2 together and here's 4 - I took the tips of some of them and wrote a very simple procedure to reset the switches - it works on the M4424 and I think it would be good for the M5424 and many other brocade switches.

-You don't need the eProm password to work, all affect this password if it is enabled even more turns. You can disable it by opening the switch and pressing the two buttons in the corner individually.

M4424 reset without root access:

Connect to the console - reboot the switch

Press ESC when you are prompted to enter the boot menu

Select option 3. The password is usually set to the password

but it is empty by default.

Run printenv command to display the environment variables needed to

commands below. -I separated the useful bits, we only need information osloader and rootpartition.

AutoLoad = yes

ENET_MAC = 00051EA3E8E5

InitTest = MEM)

LoadIdentifiers = operating system; Operating system

OSLoadOptions = quiet; quiet

OSLoader = ATA (0x5d040); ATA (0X3C890)

OSRootPartition = hda2; hda1

SkipWatchdog = yes

boot ATA (0x5d040 s)<-- osloader="*string*" make="" sure="" the="" -s="" switch="" is="" there,="" or="" it="" boots="">

the remount mount - o rw, noatime /.<-- needs="" to="" be="" mounted="" in="">

mount/dev/hda1/MNT<-- mount="" second="" listed="">

/ sbin/passwddefault<-- password="" reset="">

reset<-- reboots="" the="">

And wala-switch user data are reset. Now you can access the GUI and restore the default settings like a pro by logging in as root

  • Brocade M5424 Fibre Channel blade switch fiber?

    Hello.

    Im trying to support this Brocade M5424 switch blade Fibre Channel equipment and its load of the GBIC 10Gbs with fiber LC connectors. What type of fiber patch cord do I need to connect to another switch? I Googled it out and check it: LC LC PATCH CORD AQUA OM3.

    But my question remains... should I fibre om2 and om3 for the best connection quality?

    Could someone help me with this?

    Thank you

    OM2 and OM3 are assessed for 10 GB. 20 meters, you could run OM2 and OM3 and be able to achieve 10 GB. Here is a guide optical and cable with some information that may be useful.

  • OME 2.0.1 and Brocade M5424 fc switches

    Hello

    I have problem with OME discovery/inventory abd Brocade M5424.   4 M5424 brocades are defined as 2 M1000e chassis access gateways, problem is this discovery/inventory OME found as a fibre channel switch with 4 ip addresses.

    Inventory and discovery works well with all the other components of these 2 chassis, only fc switches I have this problem.

    M5424 have unique host names, single ip addr. and snmp is defined.  OME same troubleshooting tool gives me the correct result when the connection on these switches CF test.

    Anyone with the same problem?  Mode gateway may be the source of this problem?

  • Brocade showing WWPN fabA

    I don't know why my 1st brocade switch shows the WWPN of the fabric B WWPN. It should show only the WWPN fab A. I have models of vhba for A and B should be subject to a zoning to vsanA and B should be subject to a zoning to vsanB.

    However, the WWPN for B are observed on fabA and vice versa

    Tony,

    For a simple test SSH to the interconnection of fabric (FI), connect to the NXOS (login nxos) context then issues:

    Show Van flogi-table

    This will show you all the WWPN that is out of this particular FI.  Atfer you view those, connect to the other FI and do the same thing.

    What is probably happening is that you have an ISL between your brocades that replicates your WWPN.  You have all the ports 'E' to connect between the two brocades?

  • 6120 UCS connect to the Brocade 300 FC switch

    We buy a UCS with 6120's and will connect the CF modules to our 8 GB Brocade 300 switches.  My questions are:

    1 are there problems with the connection of the 6120's to the 300?

    2. can I have two separate fabrics?

    3. are there potential loop or latency problems as I go to my EMC CX4 of 6120's by the 300?

    Basically, any comment is welcome :-)

    Thank you!!

    1. Brocade switches will work very well connected to the 6120. The main requirement is that they support NPIV.
    2. Yes you can, and indeed, what would be the recommended path. Fabric Interconnect will connect to A Brocade, while the fabric interconnect B connects to the Brocade B. The interconnections of fabric or the brocades are interconnected, leaving you with two different fabrics. In each UCS Manager Service profile, you can then set up a vHBA for each fabric.
    3. No loops exist, although the fabric of the interconnections will be set up a small amount of latency, as shown in this link. Tiny enough to be negligible if and as the link explains the fabric is lossless.

  • UCS to SAN Brocade FC Switch mode

    Is it possible to connect a network SAN FC Brocade for interconnections of fabric once to have them put in place mode Switch CF?

    Thank you

    Hello Dani

    No! We do not support interop modes!

    the only solution is running FI in NPV mode and Brocade in Access Gateway (NPIV)

    Why is this not possible? We have many installations of UCS, connection to a cloth of Brocade with NPV mode

    Any who are facing this problem. ?

    Am I missing some configuration steps?

    Kind regards

    This should be a trivial or a very complex problem. I'd rather commonplace.

    Brocade is a CF 16 G switch; up to 8 G negotiation seems to work (storage subsystem).

    Maybe you could try to set the speed on the Brocade 8G port fix!

    Or something with the cables is wrong? Send / receive Crusaders?

    Are shortwave of the MMF SFP? cables connection as well?

    Connect cable from port for example. 31-33, 32 to 34 and see if it works?

    Hey guys, ive got 3 switches that I bought from a client (WITHOUT guarantee on the left).
    they all had BOOT PROM password.

    1. we did I press on enter 2 times, and then the switch created a password for inconnud

    2. in the second place I didn't pass, I guess that thay have sam problem as me and sent to our hands.

    3 I didn't know the password and I press ESC to the ram doesn't load properly, then the switch put a password that I don't know.

    I DON'T know how to reset the tho.
    How?
    That's how.

    I get a code of each switch to "contact suport and receive a code of your suplier, send this string to your suplier" and display a code on each switch.
    I asked HP suport, but they do not know who, why have it? Yes, I understand HP want to cash everything.

    Oh yes, the suport of custum told me I should send in the switch and pay about 180 euros per hour for each switch.
    so they can call Brocade then get the code.  I asked Brocade n they told me to talk to Suport HP. It is their product

    then I found yet a thing, an update of the firmware that you can get your suplier then you can install, One time password only reset code «»
    but HP suport told me I have to send for cela or demand Brocade then I asked Brocade they say thati need to Suport HP. It's their product.

    If at the moment I can't send these switches whith BOOT PROM password to my client, so my question is.

    There is any otherway to solve this problem?

    Hello

    You need a straight cable set to connect your computer to the switch (I think I have dozens of them around) then try the following:

    https://sites.Google.com/site/goussevsite/Home/Professional/Prof-Blog/recoveribmbrocadeswitchpasswords

    Edition: Yes, it is a HP product, but because that not more centering/decision support, therefore, you have to pay for the services. I think it's a normal arrangement between products re-badges.

    Good luck.

  • Brocade SAN Content Pack Setup

    I imported the content pack Brocade SAN into our insight of 1.5 log device. The SAN admin configure the redirection of syslog server network to advise to the switches through the IP address and port 514.

    After more than 24 hours, no data appears preview newspaper under the Brocade SAN dashboards.

    Is there another step, I'm missing? The documentation is sparse on this product.

    I thought about restarting the insight journal unit, but a warning appears on the hosts not being able to continue logging after loss of connection with the device, so I wanted to do only if absolutely necessary.

    Thank you

    Would you believe said SAN admin typed in the wrong IP address of the insight journal device? problem solved. human error.

  • FC zoning in infrastructure ESX 3.5 with Brocade silkworm 200e of and IBM DS4700 SAN

    After reading the guide of config of SAN fibre channel vmware, (Chp 4 pg 58-62 on the IBM DS4000 storage systems), I have a few questions.  First of all, the guide indicates that you must use political multi-channel MRU (most recently used) but when taken with the support of IBM, they recommend using LRU. Does anyone have any experience with this setting?

    The guide also gives an example how to configure a highly available failover of the SAN (pg 59) design.   I wired mine the same as recommended in the guide.  Attached a photo of my situation.  I'm not sure if I am zonine this correctly.  Ideally, I would like to have this zoning configuration in "single-target only initiator" (safer) or single initiator target multiple configuration. He'll just be (2) large VMFS LUNs grouped in a storage of partitions in storage manager that both ESX servers must see so that HA and vmotion work.   Advice to shoot me in the right direction?

    In the Storage Manager, I created a host with a host LNXCLVMWARE type group and is an Alias for each HBA (2 per ESX server) so that I can see the logical drives on the SAN.  I have no configuration of areas now switches from and in the ESX boxes, I can see the disks of SAN storage and add them very well if I choose 'add a storage '.  Target SCSI 0 watch path on disk and when I click on manage paths, the two first show 'dead' and then the last two are 'on' and 'active'. By default, to make these switches multitracks with on any config?

    Someone knows any good tutorials on zoning practices for a vmware environment? I checked what follows, but need more information.

    http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2008/10/28/single-initiator-zoning/

    http://SearchStorage.TechTarget.com/Tip/1, 289483, sid5_gci881375, 00.html

    I have a lot of DS4700 in similar environments, zoning is easy.

    Each host adapter must be zoned to two port controller, for example:

    Host a HBA1 to port CTRL A,

    Host A HBA1 to port CTRLB B,

    Host a HBA2 to port CTRLB A,

    Host A HBA2 to port CTRL B

    In front of ports for host b.

    This is an example, a person prefers to use other combination (ABBA, etc.).

    The result in this configuration is to see 4 paths to each LUN.

    MRU is the only option for DS4000 family, it is the default value for ESX 3.5, take a look at this setting.

    Best practices recommend that you disable AVT for the topology of the LNXCLVMWARE host. I usually haven't changed that. In DS4000 firmware version 7. XX, this setting is disabled by default.

    I also suggest you to remove the LUN ACCESS to the vmware host group.
