Can't scan at all & printer freezes my laptop is turned on more than 3 minutes?

Can't get my Laserjet M1212nf MFP to scan anything at all, it freezes as my laptop, if it's on more than 3 minutes.  I connected via the USB cable to my laptop Dell under Windows XP SP2.  I tried to run the diagnostic tool, but it freezes and then gives me the same error message as the printer when I try to scan something.  The error message "sorry, but scan software needs to close." I also deleted the drivers and reinstalled times since the original CD & download from HP.com whenever it froze just my laptop once the drivers have been installed. I don't know what else to try?

I know that it isn't a hardware problem, because the copy of the printer function works very well!  The scan bar is fail & before he come to scan and then send the data from my laptop.  So my guess is it's a software problem, but I'm not an expert?

It has been so for about 6 mos now and I'm just trying to not use it much, but it's starting to annoy me that I spent so much on something that I can't use!  Can someone please help me with this?  Thank you!!!

Wtdboss, sorry for not responding sooner, I was out of the country on a trip to visit his family in France.

Looks like we can fix pretty easily. To be able to scan from your computer directly on your computer you need to activate the scan function in the software for your printer on your computer. This should be under Scanner or scanner Actions. This will give you your printer permission to access your hard disk computers and record the material there.

    Once you have downloaded and installed the software, FULL of features, you will be able to print and scan.

    How to scan to computer

    Once you have installed the software,

    1. click the printer (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP printer Assistant.
    2. in the menu analyze, there is a 'manage Scan to Computer', click on that.
    3. make sure that 'enable' the Scan of the computer. Also check the tab "Automatically start Scan of the computer when I connect Windows" is to check if you want to have this feature permanently. (an example is shown below)

    I hope someone can help.
    My satellite P300 laptop freezes when left for more than 20 minutes.
    This has been a problem since the purchase of the laptop 8 months ago.

    I have windows vista installed.

    When this happens I've pressed the button until the computer restarts, it gives me the option to start in safe mode.
    This can't be good for the laptop?
    Is there a way to solve this problem, as I turn the laptop off when ever I leave.

    It's not easy to say what is the reason for this as it can be different things

    Maybe your laptop is overheating. You can hear the fan or get very hot? Maybe you should try to clean using compressed air stream. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans.

    You said that you have installed Windows Vista on your laptop. Do you mean the factory settings or you have installed your own version of Windows?

    It could also be the RAM problem. You can check this with Memtest86. It is a diagnostic program for the RAM. You can download it from [www.memtest86.com]. It s freeware and easy to use (just to burn a bootable CD with the image and the start of it).

    Good luck and post your results after that.

    and IMHO the best of both programs. Windows Live
    Movie Maker was included when you downloaded and installed
    Windows Live Essentials.

    The publication (economy) questions are probably caused by
    files corrupted or incompatible source (photos, video clips,
    audio clips).

    Several formats are apparently compatible with Movie Maker but
    the most reliable choices are:

    Photos - bmp
    Video - wmv
    Audio - wav, wma, wmv

    But... first... If you are running Movie Maker 6... try to go to... Tools /.
    Options / Compatibility tab and uncheck the box 'all' filters / OK now...

  • Incorrect SCXI all the playback channels after running for more than 30 minutes

    I have a SCXI-1001 module. I use a thermocouple module (1102, breakout box 1300), input analog (off 2, map of 1100, 1300 in small groups), analog output (1124 map, 1325 breakout) and a relay (card 1160, breakout 1324). I'm using labview 2009. I created my channels manually to read all channels, I need about 1 task for entries of thermocouple and analog, 1 analog and 1 for task task for the output relay (total 3 tasks). Each task comes into contact with the SCXI area in a different section of a timed sequence. I read all my channels with precision for 30 minutes but then all of a sudden they stop reading accurately and all thermocouples read the same incorrect value as well as all analog input channels. I can't change the output channels either.

    The problem occurs more quickly if I increase the clock frequency. There are no errors showing when this problem occurs.

    What is an interaction of hardware failure or a software.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also need to resolve this issue quickly because it is delaying the test.

    Thank you all for your response. I managed to solve the problem. It was a problem with the start of the task and to connect the clocks for different tasks. I've included only a single task to start my unstable code in the source code as for posed multiple startup tasks. However, I started my slave tasks (analog and digital outputs) before starting my master's work (analougue entered). This seems to have solved the problem. I intend to go more far by adding clocks at 2 slave atsks and linking them to the task of master.

    I used the sequence as part of documentation. Each links to sequence number to another sheet that I have has a flowchart to say what is each part. As you say there is no need to put in a sequence and do so limit labviews own data stream. I'll remove the sequences and put my documentation on the codes in the code directly because it is made in the examples of labview.

  • OfficeJet 4500 all-in-One Printer G510h - can't scan using the printer or HP Solution Center

    When I tried scanning document/image of my desktop with the use of the HP Solution Center, by pressing the button scan, printer/scanner does not react but simply go back to the home menu. I've tried a few things: reinstall the printer driver, restart the computer, unplug and turn on the printer, but it's the same thing happens again.  When I tried to scan the document/image directly from the printer/scanner, the following error message appears on the HP Solution Center:

    "An error has occurred with the HP scanning application. Try the following steps after each step, try to scan the image.
    -Restart the program
    -Restart the computer
    -Reinstall the HP Photosmart software that came with the device. »

    However, there is no HP Photosmart software supplied with the unit.

    Please perform the below mentioned steps that should solve the problem.

    Click START > computer > C: > Program files > HP > Digital Imaging > Bin > right click on hpscnapp.exe, and then click SEND TO OFFICE.

    Back on the desktop, and then double-click the shortcut icon hpscnapp.exe , he would open the interface to start scanning.

  • I have an Epson 625 / scan etc. I can't scan at all

    Communication problems.  I have attached a usb cable as requested.  I also have wifi on this printer.  I'm so confused.  Which one should I use?  I have it on a network, and yet he wanted a usb cable.  Someone at - it a solution?

    It's pretty hard to do a wireless wireless installation, it is common that these devices to be connected by a cable to do the installation and also install the drivers on the computer.

    In your case, I suspect that you need a driver for Epson.  Try their Web site for new drivers and also for the help forums.

  • Photosmart HP 5510: Error with the same type of print cartridge black that I use for more than a year

    For the last days I'm not able to print anything from my Photosmart 5510, because I get the error message "" Black - cartridge incompatible generation more "or 'cartridge for printers of older generation'." In addition, it does not give me option as before proceeding, in any case and I can't activate wireless. So, actually I have no printer at all. I reinstalled the driver but the same thing, after I did that and restarted a printer.

    I've been ordering cartridges on eBay and Amazon for a few years now. They were not HP and printer always said to me that it is not genuine HP cartridge. I have no problem with notifications, as it prints well. I printed several pages of document .pdf only 4-5 days.  No problem at all. My ink level is very good, especially black, because I was always ordering the largest capacity I print a lot.

    This problem started today (or I had knowledge about this today) and there is no doubt that something has changed between the time where I printed the last time and now. But it's pretty clear that HP wants me to buy original cartridges. Is it not enough that my laptop is HP, my printer is HP... I should have freedom to choose what ink to buy and where to buy it. It worked a few days ago and I checked the black cartridge, that I get the error message, has at least 50% of ink left in it. Because HP wants me to throw it away, because it's not authentic?

    I'm really upset, because it is not a software, where we have to use the original permits. It's MY printer and I get to choose what cartridges I put in it, and where I buy my cartridges. If there answer like "it is not comapitble, etc.", well, it worked for a long time and printer tell me that there is problem with it. The problem with the cartridge just 'old generation '.

    If HP conitinues to press like that, I'll never buy anything HP again.

  • Help, please! CHKDSK stuck at step 4 of 5-6% for more than 90 minutes. If it is frozen? What can I do?

    Not very intuitive with the hard disks, disks, partitions, etc.  A friend told me I should be defragging my computer frequently to help it work better.  Then, I looked at steps to defragment and learned to run chkdsk first before you defragment.  I clicked on properties, tools, scheduled chkdsk for my C drive, checked the boxes ("automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors") and rebooted my computer to run the chkdsk command.

    Here is what my screen said during the last 90 minutes:

    The type of the file system is NTFS.
    volume label is PRESARIO.

    A disk check has been programmed. Windows will now check the disk.

    CHKDSK checks the files (stage 1 of 5)
    (deleted and corrupted files verification of such complete record)
    CHKDSK is checking the indexes (stage 2 of 5)
    (same as step 1... full check)
    CHKDSK is recovering lost files
    CHKDSK checks the security descriptors (stage 3 of 5)
    Security descriptor complete check.
    CHKDSK checks Usn Journal
    Audit of the USN Journal is complete.
    CHKDSK is verifying file data (stage 4 of 5)
    6 percent completed.

    And that's where he lives.  My computer is frozen?  I hear the tour runs every so often, as I work with something, but does not change the 6%.  I'm afraid to turn it off in the middle of DSKCHK but I don't know what else to do.  Help, please!   • How can I retrieve my contacts from an old laptop that I have more?

    new computer lost contacts

    Hard drive crashed on my old laptop.  I now have a new and recovered most of my files with Carbonite, but nothing of Outlook Express has been recovered.  I have NO contacts and would like to know if there is a way to get back them without this old laptop.  I have neither computer repair people were able to initialize, so I can't enter to retrieve my e-mail contacts.  Help!  Thanks for any help.

    This is not the first time that the backup has not finished.

    If you have a damaged area of the drive, the backup may crash as it attempts to access these data.
    Your next step should be to run a "chkdsk" with the /F or/r hard disk option.  After that, you can re - try your backup operation.  WARNING: This check can take hours, runs on startup and cannot be interrupted.  Run it when you won't need your computer for awhile.
