Cannot open dat files in windows 7

the operating system is windows 7 premium. Since its purchase, there has been no changes to the computer. This problem has occurred since the first day. We cannot open certain file extensions on the attachments sent to us, for most of the dat files. I searched on the net for most of the forums help ms and tried the recommended solutions, to no avail. This includes saving the file, try opening with another program or try to display the file extension. Is there a solution or a fix for this problem?

Thanks for your help

These files are likely to senders using Outlook and format RTF owner of the bureau, which is unable to interpret other e-mail clients.  You must either install Outlook, or even to tell shippers to use plain text or HTML format messages, but not those in the RTF format as all attachments and such parts are not readable by other beneficiaries who do not have Outlook.

  • MMC cannot open the file C:\windows\system32\WF.msc

When I try to open the Action Center, I receive this message. MMC cannot open the file C:\windows\system32\WF.msc

    Hello

Thanks for posting the question in the Microsoft Community forums.

According to the description, you get a message of error 'mmc cannot open the file C:\windows\system32\WF.msc' when you try to open the center of the Action.

We will perform the steps and check.

    Method 1:

Try to access the Windows Firewall configuration through the console Microsoft Management console.

    a. click on start
    b. type MMC (right-click and choose Run as administrator)
    c. click on file (in the upper right corner)
    d. click Add/Remove snap-in software component
    e. Select Windows Firewall with advanced settings, in Add Remove snap-ins windows
    f. click Add (clicking ok does not make any changes)
    d. click OK and you should be able to use the settings of the Console 1 window.

    Method 2:

If you are able to use the settings of the firewall through MMC, then scan your computer for corrupt system files.

Perform a SFC scan on your computer. Consult the following link:

I think I need a codec to be able to open MP4 files in Windows Vista 64 - bit Windows Media Player 11. I need help!

    ================================
The free VLC Media Player can play MP4 files.

(Tip: after clicking the "Convert a file" button...)
When you click on the "Browse" button to select
your .mp4 file... you won't see .mp4 as a choice.

If you open the "Files of Type" menu window
and choose "All files" you can select your .mp4

    Under "Content Distribution"... "Archive file".
    can be a good choice.

  • Cannot open exe. files on windows 7 error exe is not a valid window 32 I 64 bit. What should I do

I can't open any exe. on my windows 7.   Error message:... .is an application not valid windows 32. All the desktop icons have changed.  That's happened?  How can I fix it?

    Hello

    1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

2 is the issue limited while accessing a particular application?

This problem may occur because of viruses, files of the system parameters.

Try the following and see if it helps.

    Method 1:

Refer to the steps in the following Microsoft article.

When you run an .exe on a Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer file, the file can start another program: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950505

Note: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Back-up-the-registry

    Method 2:

See the following Microsoft article and check.

Changing the programs Windows uses by default: http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows7/Change-which-programs-Windows-uses-by-default

Difficulty of broken desktop shortcuts and common system maintenance tasks

Note: FixIt would attempt to recover bad sectors on the hard disk, in the course of this process there are chances of data loss from that particular area.

    Method 3:

I suggest you to run the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if there is no virus.

    Microsoft Safety Scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The data files that are infected can be cleaned by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

  • Cannot open .gsd files in Windows 8.

Original title: opening of gsd files

I transferred all my job, do the files from my old computer (windows vista) in the new which is now Windows 8.   I have always kept these files in photos and have no problems at the opening of the majority of them now. The files in the format "gsd" (for a cutting machine) will be not now open in windows 8.   I tried to open it with all the options available in pictures but no open these files.

I have looked in the help pages for Microsoft, but can not find something here.

Can someone tell me what I can do to open these.  They are quite expensive files with the purchase of craft sites, and I can't afford to not be able to use it!

    Hope someone can advise me

    Hi Sheila,

I suggest you use your favorite search engine and download a program that can open the .gsd files.

Note: using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

If you come across a program that is not compatible with Windows 8, you can install it in compatibility mode:

Make the programs more compatible with this version of Windows
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/older-programs-compatible-version-Windows

I hope this information is useful. Please get back to us with the State of the question.

  • Cannot open xlr files in Windows 7

I can't open xlr files - someone ' one please help me - instructions on changing the file name did not work because when I right click to try the re - name I can only change the real name, there is no access to change the file type.  I'm going crazy.  I wish that I had not gotten a new computer with Windows 7. Does anyone have a solution? or I'm just something wrong?

. XLR indicates a Microsoft Works file.  Do you work on the Win 7 computer?  If the file has been created in Works 8 or later it can also be opened in Excel.  You have Excel?  Change the file extension is not going to help.  You still have the old computer?  Depending on what programs you have, there may be some export options that could help.

  • Cannot open PDF files in Windows Live Mail.

I recently got a new computer running Windows 7.  I have Windows Live Mail and have tried to open the 'pdf' files attached to e-mails.  When I try to open them I get an error message.  I downloaded the file in the file management section for Adobe and Adobe.  How to open a PDF file without first having to save it on my computer?

HURT SO BAD!  I had the same problem - I tried the security options in Internet Explorer and Adobe, also the download of unassociate.exe that was put in place for users of Vista and used on the extension pdf without result.  IF YOU USE IT ON THE PDF AND PDFXML extensions, then open Adobe reader and click Help, repair drive installation it works!

Obviously, you cannot run your life by saving just to open attachments... Adobe has no answers on their site and find the file unassoc.exe on this Microsoft forum was the closest, I arrived to find an answer. When I tried the process a second time, I saw the PDFXML extension just below the PDF extension and took a shot at it.

Someone at Microsoft needs this fix to make accessible to all the users of Windows 7. I spent 3 hours on the phone with HP support, he tried the unassoc.exe and it did not work for him. I contact them to let them know about this - they put me on the phone with a Manager and he told me they had literally hundreds of phone calls about this.
