.. like I still get the FAILURE of the ASSERTION message, even after all the operations required to overcome this problem, please help

Having recently upgraded to Windows 10 when this problem occurred.

Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but am now pulling my hair out

Make sure that the account that you are connected to your computer has privileges of full read/write to all files that are needed for LR.

    This is probably a "lock" file It is created if Lightroom is not closed correctly.

    Yes, you can reinstall Photoshop CC2015.

    Follow the instructions below:

    • Cloud application open Adobe Creative
    • Go to the Apps Panel
    • Click on uninstall next to Photoshop
    • Choose No, "keep the app preferences.
    • Then install it again and check.

    Hello world. I use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC 2015 on Windows 10. The first time after installation, the program worked correctly, but after that I have not used for some time, it cannot be started.

    According to my research, there are suggestions in saying that I need to disconnect from the Adobe Creative Cloud app and reconnect to the rear, but it does not work for me. I also tried to reinstall the app but it does not truncated.

    Regarding the suggestion of Adobe, error: 'error unexpected opening catalogue' occurs in Lightroom after upgrade Windows 10.

    • I found that Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2012 had already installed on my computer.
    • I tried to run the program as administrator, but you have the same problem.
    • I also checked my permission to catalogue, but it seems to be okay. I tried to delete the catalog folder and start Lightroom, the new folder to create catalog, but the application has not begun.

    Does anyone have ideas for my problem?

    This is to update on my problem. I contacted the Adobe Support via chat and they managed to solve my problem. Now I can start Lightroom properly.

    The solution is to uninstall .net versions and reinstall them. I have several versions of .net installed on my machine (2008 - current version, 32 and 64 bits). Adobe staff helped me to uninstall and reinstall .net remotely. After that, Lightroom can perfectly start.

    I worked the admin account.

    Cannot open the lightroom catalog named lightroom 5 because it is open in another application already. Leave the other copy of lighroom before trying to launch.

    In the folder where the catalogue is there is probably a .lock file. Delete this file only , and then try again.

    It is created to prevent Lightroom used simultaneously by more than 1 user, and if Lightroom is not shutdown properly for some reason some may remain in the folder.

    I am suddenly unable to open Lightroom 6.  I get this error message.Capture.JPG

    I uninstalled it, run cleaner Adobe Creative cloud. Run C Cleaner on the files and the registry. LR6 downloaded and reinstalled and still get the same message.
    I tried the trial of CC and that worked fine.


    Windows 10 home. v1607

    AMD Radeon A10 - 7700K, 4 c and 6G of carrots, 3.4 GHz
    8 GB OF RAM.

    Any ideas how to fix this, please?

    Now I am unable to open Lightroom 5.7 - when I try to open the program I get a message that the "5 Lightroom Catalog" has already been opened by another program.  All previous versions of Lightroom have been previously deleted from my PC WIN of 8.1.

    With Lr closed go to the location where your catalog (by default it is pictures/Lightroom)

    Delete the. Lock file with the same name as your catalog. For example, in the image below, it is Lightroom4 catalog.lrat.lock

    In your case, it will be Lightroom5catalog.lrcat.lock

    Restart Lightroom

    I suggest you to remove the old version, Lightroom 4.4 of the computer and keep Lightroom 4.4.1 on your computer.

  • Cannot open lightroom 6 on PC and laptop since last night. I have a stand-alone perpetual license.

    I've been using Lightroom for several years and finally I bought a perpetual license of standalone lightroom 5 with update free for LR6 on PC and mobile.

    Last night I was working in lightroom on PC when I realized that I had imported my new photos to the catalog 2015 instead of a new catalog of 2016 which I had used for a week. I chose open another catalogue (2016) in order to import new pictures in the catalog, bypassed the message about stopping the catalog I was using and the message back up before you finish then anything, lightroom does not open.

    I performed tests on the PC, but nothing wrong was found. This morning when I turned on by clicking on the lightroom ICON was just a spinning wheel (busy) for about 5 seconds, then nothing. He has refused to open.

    I tried to connect to my Adobe account, it was very slow but I got end.

    Earlier I decided to use the laptop, which is independent of the PC, I do not use cloud services. I have exactly the same problem, a wheel that runs for about 5 seconds, then nothing. It's like I've been locked out.

    Problem has been resolved. Disc scan in SafeMode the updated an irreparable damaged windows file. Restored (reset) initial backup of disks PC and restore all data backup hard drive. Fingers crossed, everything will be fine now.

    I bought the 6 upgrade for my lightroom 5 (no clouds) on the web on August 27 for mac (I have the latest operating system). I get an email with my code number and instruction how to download lightroom 6.

    3 days later, I still not able to download lightroom 6.

    I open the installer... I see on the first line: lightroom for mac/win my code number and the download window is empty

    second line: lightroom no Code window and the window for the window is enabled

    third line: ligt...           Mac... no code and the window for Mac is enabled

    I click on the Mac window, a new window appears where I chose the version of lightroom to select this option to download. I see the 1,2,3,4,5 version but not version 6.

    Where is the problem?

    I try to reach someone talking about Adobe, but it is almost impossible to reach the person or I don't know how to do it. And on the forum, I can't find anything good for my problem.

    do you have a solution? A phone number to talk to someone?
