  • Cannot scan with Photosmart C6280 with Mac OS x Snow Leopard.

When I try to scan with my Mac, I get a scanner not found error.  I am able to print.  When I access the HP utility, it shows the printer in the installed column but it shows a Red House beside her and will not let me access it. The printer is connected to an Apple Airport Extreme, via an ethernet cable, and the airport is linked via a USB cable to the computer.

I guess you mean that the printer and the Mac are connected to the router with Ethernet Airport?

If you are using snow leopard and have the HP software before Snow Leopard (either from a CD not marked as compatible with 10.6 or you recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and had the software HP on your Mac before you upgrade - even if you made a standard from the old software uninstaller or installed new software on top of it) , you must uninstall the software using the "scrubber":

Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard / click Uninstall HP
    Click on continue
Highlight your device in the left pane
Hold down the Ctrl and Opt Cmd and click on uninstall< scrubber="">
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall all hp software. (At this point, if you continue, all HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click on continue and let it finish

    Restart your Mac

    Now run a software update.

Finally, download and install the "Full Featured" driver and software from the "Support & drivers" link at the top of this page.

  • Problems scanning with Photosmart 5510 on Yosemite Mac (OS 10.10)

I recently spent a MacBook Pro to a MacBook Air Yosemite running. My printer/scanner was perfectly compatible with the old machine, but nothing else that headache has provided on the new.

The printer actually works OK but the scanner consumed enormous amounts of time to fix it and still does not work.

I have installed and reinstalled the driver current time more than I can count. Sometimes the HP utility freezes and has to be restarted. Sometimes it just hangs. Sometimes, I have a screen similar to the one below showing that it has connected to the scanner and activated, but when I go to scan, I absolutely zilch.

Please help me solve this problem. I've posted about it a number of times, sent tech support several times and I wrote to the head of the tech group. I got response ZERO in five days and am almost ready to ban all products HP to my office to go always.

Hi there @HVDesigner , welcome in the community

I hope to be useful for the problems of scanning that you face with your new MacBook Air, Yosemite running. Before attempting any software troubleshooting more, I will suggest checking the material, reset the printer and the network (if you are connected).

1 reset the printer, and then make sure that the printer is plugged directly into the wall, avoiding bars power and surge protectors. This ensures that the printer is full on and can help analyze. I was witness to a direct connection, only this type of fixing problem.

Press the power button to turn the product on.
With the product, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the back of the product.
If the product does not light by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

    2. try power cycling network devices:
Turn off the printer and the computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press the buttons on the router).
Plug the router back in and wait another minute, turn on the printer and the computer.

    3. a copy to make sure that the printer is in good working condition to continue software troubleshooting.

    4. If copies of work without a problem, try the following steps in order:

    1. Mac OS X: how to reset the printing system
    2. Repair disk permissions
    3. Restart the Mac.
    4. Download and install the complete driver here: printer e-all-in-one HP Photosmart 5510d printer B111h/B111j full feature software and drivers
    5. In addition, to download this driver: HP v3.0 for OS X printer drivers

    5. try scanning with scans and software scanning HP should work now!

If by chance the scans do not work, please, give us a call.

To confirm that the hardware of the printer is functional, you are able to make a copy with the glass of the scanner of the printer?

    To copy:

    2. close the scanner.

    3. on the product control panel, press the button number of Copies.

    4. Select the number of copies.

  • Cannot scan with c309g on the new iMac

Later Cougar (USB), after you install later (= old) Driver HP and on top of this apple driver (meticulously followed the advice of the post Printdoc 19/08/2009). Printing is fine, do not scan: using system prefs > print & scan > open scanner I get only a gray window. The same phenomenon occurs via Preview. "HP Scan" HP program hangs after clicking "scan" and must be out of force.

I'll take a look at the following document I linked below.

  • Cannot scan with my Photosmart 7510. Installed any printer software

    Windows 7 64 bit

After 10 hours on the phone with HP support, service Cloud and a HP escalation Manager, I can do everything except Scan.

After that the escalation of HP Manager allows a 'scrubber utility' to completely remove all previous, all HP printer software now runs on my printer except SCAN.  From the printer control panel, it says: "make sure that the HP printer software is installed.  Since the PC when you select the HP Scan utility, is said: "HP Photosmart series 7510 not found '.

    Help please!

This has been fixed by a HP escalation Manager today!

Apparently, when windows is an update of security for your computer (Windows 7 in my case), it disables the ability to scan your printer because it doesn't recognize as valid a device on your wireless network and disables it so.

We had to reinstall the printer as a new wireless printer and then 'activate' it as a scanner.  After having done that, you should have a background running which is called, "HPNetworkCommunicator.exe" process Now, I can scan the computer, as well as from the control panel of the printer.

  • Cannot scan HP Photosmart C4780, Mac OSX 10.9.4

At the same time, I bought my MacBook Pro about 4 years ago and my HP Photosmart C4780. Recently I replaced my hard drive, so I now have the OS of Mac OSX version 10.9.4. I can always print to my RESUME, but I can scan is no longer. If I try to open HP scan, I get an error message. I tried to go to the--> Printers Scanners &--> scan system preferences, and everything seems to sweep but is not save to my computer. I looked at to download the driver, but it does not list my specific operating system... but lists "Mac OSX" which seems ambiguous for me (it lists specific versions up to 10.6). There is no option to download a driver, but there is an option to have a disk sent by post (paying), but I am unclear if this driver works with my version of Mac OS x.

Are you sure?  Try to save it on your desktop - give it a distinctive name, so you can easily find it.

  • Multi-page scanning with Photosmart 3150 and Mavericks

I recently updated my OS from Mac to the Mavericks (OS 10.9.1).  Before this upgrade, my Photosmart C3150 printed and scanned exactly as I wanted.  I could scan a multiple page document and save it as a .pdf file successfully.

Now, when I scan a document of several page and try to save it in .pdf file, I get an error message that says: "an error occurred registering the file because it could not be written in.  Check the properties of the file to ensure that it is not dead. »

I don't have this problem if my digital file is a single page .pdf.  I tried to use the send to preview or send to the office, and the same problem occurs.  Sometimes when I try this, the HP Scan, the application hangs and I have to use Force Quit to close (but not every time).

Really can't wait for scan documents several pages in individual files, one page.  Any other suggestions on how to overcome this problem?

    HI RESJR,

    Happy new year

You can open the analysis option in system preferences and analyze the many elements from there rather than using HP scanning.

    1. Place the item you want to scan on the scanner glass, or load in the ADF (ADF) documents, if your printer has one.

  • Problems scanning with Photosmart Plus B209a with os x 10.9

Recently introduced from PC to Mac.  No problem with the installation of the printer.  Can pull up to scan in the preview or the Image Capture, but not all the features seem to be present.  For example, I have no setting for several pages (i.e. 'add another page' which was available via the HP solution Center on the PC).   All I seem to be able to do is scan a page.  All them include printer drivers are up-to-date.  Help please!

In the Image Capture, make sure you click on the "show details" at the bottom right.  From there on, set the type of file to PDF format, and select the checkbox "combine in a single document.

    Hello

The HP Scan Pro is a very old, destined to Mac OS X v10.5 or older versions of the os.

Don't forget to uninstall any incompatible software by following the uninstall HP under Applications\Hewlett-Pakard program.

Then restart your Mac, enter print & scan and make sure that the printer is listed... If this is not the case, click on the Plus sign and add the printer.

Now, try to scan by using one of the methods below:

If there are issues after completing the steps above, please let me know.

  • Cannot scan with cnw 1355 Dell MFP.

I have IT supported by a University.  We have recently updated on new computers and now I am not able to scan from the printer.  Here is some info on the computers of OLD & NEW:

    • On both old & new computers we use Win7 64 bit.
    • The printer is a Dell 1355cnw multifunction printer.
    • I have not moved or made ANY changes to the printer itself.
    • The printer is configured via the network using the TCP/IP protocol.  It's the same way, it has been installing on older computers.
    • I checked that all printers, fax & scan drivers are up-to-date by using the Dell Web site.
    • I also checked the printer firmware is updated using the Dell Web site

On the old machines, I installed the printer & scanner software (PaperPort 12) from the CD supplied with the printer.  I installed on new computers, using the same CD; still I have problems my 1355 Dell MFP color to analyze. It is connected to a network and I can print fine, but when I try to scan (from the center of digitization of Dell or PaperPort 12), it tells me that the device is not there.

    • I get the exact error message is: ' no scanner detected. "  The scanner power is off, the cable is not correctly connected, or address IP settings are correctly entered. »

I checked EVERYTHING from the old computer to the new & settings are identical.  Yet I still can't scan from the new computer (although I CAN scan from the old computer).

I also checked all the settings (via the printer web interface) to check that I didn't have to give 'special' privileges for old computers to enable analysis.

FYI - If I plug the printer via the USB port, I AM able to scan.  But this solution does not work as I have many users who need to be able to print & scan from this machine.

Any help you can give me would be really appreciated!

I am using this printer to scan the network for more than a year; That was the reason we bought this printer.  When we moved from our computers, it stopped working.

I finally got to work with a right click on the Installer (on the CD supplied with the printer) & running the Compatibility Wizard WIndows 7.  It installed with the settings in Windows XP Service Pack 2... VOILA!  EVERYTHING IS NOW SCANNING VIA NETWORK & WORKS WELL AGAIN!

However, it is important to note that I don't use WiFi.  I use the LAN.
