Cannot send faxes. Message: "the message cannot be sent. Media is write protected"OS Win7 64

I had this set up fax and work before, but had to reload windows and it has not worked since. The fax account appear to be installed and shows as connected. When I try to send a fax, the error message 'Write-protected media' appears.

I have the function enabled in "Windows features" fax and the modem works properly according to the "query" in the modem properties.

To install the fax account I had to check send later because when 'connect to a modem' has been verified an error message pops up telling me that there is a modem installed.

If you check receive a fax, the modem starts and a fax tone and a tone can be heard but still sending does not.

I can't fax anything to Win 7 Professional. Whenever I click on send, I get a message that the media is write protected.  I have faxed successfully in the past. I tried to many different docs, that nothing does, not even a regular cover page. Can anyone suggest something to help?

    Hello

Try these steps and see if that fixes the problem:

    Step 1:

    1. Click Start and type regedit into the search box start and press ENTER.
    2. navigate to the location
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fax
    3. in the right pane click "ArchiveFolder."
    4. check that content is "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\WindowsNT\MSFax".
    5. If this isn't the case, then change it.

IMPORTANT: This method contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you change the registry
incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then, you can
restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following link:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registry

    Step 2:
    a. go to start and type in windows fax and scan and press ENTER.
    b. in Windows Fax & Scan switch to Fax view (View menu > go > view Fax).
    c. in the Tools menu go to accounts of fax.
    d. Select your account and click on delete.
    e. now click on add and select Connect to a fax modem.
    f. leave the default name and click Next.
    g. choose an option, how to manage incoming faxes and then click ok.

  • HP J3608 Fax problem: recipient cannot hear me when sending faxes using the HP Solution Center

    Hi all

I have problems with our HP Officejet J3608. I have explored its functionality to send the fax using Solution Center HP AIO. So I opened a word file > press print to the fax > then a dialog box appears asking you for the recipient and all other info > I enter the number of the recipient fax and press send fax > then the fax includes the number and rings > the recipient responds by saying hello, "who is this?" > I said hi, "can I have a fax tone?" > the recipient says ' Hello? Hello?? "then drops the phone.

Then I found that the recipient cannot hear us on our part, I tested it with other recipients. The recipient is on strong talk and when I lift the phone in the device, it is always to steal it. What is the problem here?

Take note that this is not happening when we directly dial the telephone number of the device and feeding it with a printed version.

Thank you very much and I hope someone answer my question. This will really mean a lot.

Depending on the machine you send your fax to depends on how he responds. Most fax machines have no phone attachments, and the 'auto response' is a parameter that allows the printer to recognize the incoming faxes and receive them automatically. What you describe is the manual answer option, in which the recipient recognized the incoming fax and must manually answer.

In this scenario, it will depend on the machine you are sending to and whether it can receive in this same way.

  • Officejet 6310 all-in-One: can't send faxes from the computer screen

We use an Officejet 6310 all-in-one printer. Computer of my wife, a laptop Toshiba Satellite Windows 7 Professional, has suddenly come to the point that it will no longer send faxes from the computer screen. We get an error message that something must be installed or reinstalled. We have lost the CD of the software provided with the printer. We can send a fax if we have a document printed to power the machine, and we can print faxes. We lose a lot of paper and ink because of this problem. Help, please.

    Hi GregsterMc,

Given that the Fax icon is not displayed in the window of printers and devices, you need to uninstall and reinstall the software again. This should solve the problem.

    Thank you.

  • Fax and Scan Error - Message could not be sent. Media is write protected

I have a PC with Windows Vista Ultimate on it.  Turns off user access control.  On the sign as Admin will have all the rights.

Windows Fax and Scan works very well for a long time.  Had a modem comes to shove, he replaced everything works fine.

In the last day or two - with no known changes to the system - the system is no longer send and receive faxes.

It gives me an error-"message could not be sent.  the media is write protected. »

This happens if I try to send a fax directly from the Windows fax software or if I try to "print" a document by fax.

When you receive a fax - it gives a similar error.

It works as records receive faxes are unalterable and, if I look at their properties in Explorer.  I try to uncheck Read-only and it acts like it works only when I get back - read-only is still selected.

Other times I tried to make changes to access to the files by Windows Fax, fax settings - but it tells me that I have to be logged on as administrator to make these changes and I signed up as an administrator - the only Director on the PC.

I also removed the Fax profile and recreated.  I think that the question is the property read-only on my directory of fax, but for some reason that seems locked on.

I also shot the back, rebooted, turned off UAC back, rebooted and tried to change the settings of RO, no luck.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Read-only for folders is normal (mine are).  See if this fix works for you:

The problem arises when a Norton message requires a reboot. It does not get me beyond the point when Windows prompts for a password. The words appear on screen reboot problems ' Customer Service Group Policy has no connect. " "The media is write protected."

I cause the phone to crash in order to activate the Windows repair program.  It works but the custody of Norton is disabled. A program Norton Repair heals so that the fault.

I had several chat sessions with Norton, but they now point me to Microsoft saying that it is a Windows program that is related to Norton.

    Hi ColinAW,

Your computer is connected to a domain?

The question could be linked to the program Norton himself. I suggest you try the following steps:

Step 1: Disable Norton Security software; Follow the steps mentioned in the link below

    Disable antivirus software

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

Important: Activate security software once everything is done.

Step 2: The computer in the boot and a test

Follow step 1 in the link below,

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

If everything works well after a clean boot, you can deduce that some third-party services are at the origin of the problem.

Continue with the remaining steps to pin-point on the third party service.

After find you the program that is causing the problem, you will have to perhaps to update or install a newer version of the program, if you rarely use that you should consider uninstalling the software.

Important: n ' forget not the computer to start normal follow step 7 in the link.

If this problem occurs only updated Norton software, of course, the problem is related to the Norton software, and you can check with Norton again for any patches to address this issue.

  • When I tried to back up my files, I got an error (0 x 80070013) indicating that the media is write-protected

When I tried to back up my files, I got an error (0 x 80070013) indicating that the media is write-protected. How can I solve this problem? Thank you for your time, Shawn

You may not have the correct permissions or own the medium on which you try to perform the backup.  Here are some instructions on how to give you the right permissions and Take Ownership (if necessary).

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder/drive, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.  To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/. In this csse make sure grant you full permissions and check also advanced special permissions (including the inherited permissions) which can substitute for this entry to limit your rights by assembling as well.

To resolve this problem with folders or drive, take possession of the records or the reader (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  You can change now switched to read-only (even if the main folder indicates that they are always read-only - you can access yourself as the owner).  You can keep them in read-only to other users, customers and administrators even (although they can support themselves and access, if they wish, and it is really not that you can do to stop it except protect the file with a password by using a 3rd party product.)  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.  To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

I regularly compose messages in HTML format, using the wide range of fonts, colors, embedded graphics. The compositions remain intact (HTML) until the moment where I send them. The copy in my "sent" folder is in the text; one of the graphics incorporated in my original will be attached, and all the others will be gone. If my recipient respond or forward the message to me, all of my original material is text, as well as all my recipient adds to his response.

  • Send fax by Fax in Windows 7

I am eager to implement the ability to send faxes via my computer instead of going to the fax machine, located in another room.  This fax machine is a network printer/fax - Sharp B402SC MX to be precise.

I tried to go through the steps with the network for fax address and either I did not get the right address or I go about it the wrong way.

Also, I want to assure you that I won't be able to receive faxes except perhaps a confirmation, if this is possible.
Since I'm not the only person who uses this fax - I just want to fax our and receive the confirmation page that she has been sent successfully.

So, to make sure that I got the correct network address for fax machine - where can I get this information?

    Thank you.

Ahh, that's my problem - I try to use the Windows fax software.  So, to use this program, I must be directly plugged into the fax machine.

If I can't connect directly in it, is there another program I can use to send faxes over the network?

N ° Fax is a telephone technology.  There are services of fax who can fax over the Internet, but they need to register and pay a fee.

    http://www.eFax.com/help/how-eFax-works

Thanks to the high of fax, you do not have to "be connected directly to the fax machine."  If your place of work permits and the Sharp is connected to a telephone line for faxing, you just install the Sharp fax driver.
