Capacity of the crypto ipsec Cisco ASA 9.1 stats system failures
Hello
I'm trying to find some performance issues on one ASA centralized and some site VPN settings. I already address bits of fragmentation and flow control which seeks to solve performance problems, but I came across something that I can't identify to understand what he said.
I can't seem to find any documentation that explains what triggers the counter for "Capacity of the system failures" on the stats command see the crypto ipsec:
crypto ipsec sho stats #.

Hello
What is the model of the ASA you have and how many vpn sessions you get on average during peak hours?
Lack of capacity occurs when it is short of ability of the material or the use...

The traffic load between the power of Cisco ASA and FireSight Management Center fire
Hi all
I have a stupid question to ask.
Can I know what is the traffic load and the e/s flow between firepower Cisco ASA and FireSight Management Center?
Currently working on a project, client require such information to adapt to their network. Tried to find in the document from Cisco, but no luck.
Maybe you all have no idea to provide.
It varies depending on the number of events reported from the module to the CSP. No event = only health controls and policy changes are exchanged. 10,000 events per second = much more traffic.
Generally it is not a heavy load, however.

Cisco ASA cannot create several tunnels at the same address in hand?
We have several remote sites with Linksys WRVS4400N and Smoothwall firewall/vpn devices. I need these sites to be able to connect to several tell-contiguous subnets to our main office. This was done easily with smoothwall and linksys. You create a separate tunnel for each subnet, and voila, you're done. However, when I tried this with our ASA newly installed, it won't let me create several tunnels at the same address of the remote peer. It is a problem because these sites have only a single IP address public static. Did I miss something or ASA not allow connections to and from multiple subnets form a site with a unique address peer?
Resembles the limitation on the WRVS4400N as Cisco ASA supports several subnets by tunnel.
Is there anyway that you can configure a subnet more instead of specific subnets on the ACL?
For example:
If you 192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.1.0/24, instead of having 2 subnets configured, you can combine them into 1 subnet 192.168.0.0/23

Client VPN Cisco ASA 5505 Cisco 1841 router
Hello. I'm doing a connection during a cisco vpn client and a vpn on one server asa 5505 behind a 1841 router (internet adsl2 + and NAT router).
My topology is almost as follows
customer - tunnel - 1841 - ASA - PC
ASA is the endpoint vpn (outside interface) device. I forward udp port 500 and 4500 on my router to the ASA and the tunnel rises. I exempt nat'ting on the asa and the router to the IP in dhcp vpn pool. I can connect to my tunnel but I can't "see" anything in the internal network. I allowed all traffic from the outside inwards buy from the ip vpn pool and I still send packets through the tunnel and I get nothing. I take a look at the statistics on the vpn client and I 2597 bytes (ping traffic) and there are no bytes. Any idea?
Where you you logged in when you took the "crypto ipsec to show his"? If this isn't the case then try again, also this option allows IPSEC over UDP 4500 and it is disabled, enable it.
ISAKMP nat-traversal crypto
Just enter the command as it is, then try to connect again after activation of this option and get the same result to see the.

Cisco ASA 5510 VPN Site to Site with Sonicwall
I am trying to configure a tunnel between a Cisco ASA 5510 VPN (Version 8.2 (2)) and TZ200 Sonicwall. I rose tunnel and go and I am able to ping the internal IP address of Cisco ASA of the Sonicwall LAN but nothing work. When I try to ping a host behind the Cisco ASA of the Sonicwall LAN I get the following message "rules asymmetrical NAT matched for flows forward and backward; Connection for tcp src outside:10.20.10.x/xxxx dst inside:10.20.2.x/xxxx refused due to failure of reverse path of NAT"on the SAA
Googling the error above shows the problems with version 8.3 or later that resembled the nat commands have been changed SAA, train is still on 8.2 but I another common question does not add an exemption of NAT I have double-triple checked that I did add an exception rule of NAT of the hosts on the network from cisco for the guests of the Sonicwall network. Looks like I hit a road block so any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Hello Manjitriat,
Okay, detected IPSEC parody is normal, that means you are trying to send unencrypted on a line of encrypted packets.
Now, if you see on the plotter of package that traffic will hollow the VPN channel all its fine in your site.
Now the packet tracer must be something like this:
entrance to Packet-trace inside private_ip_lan destination_private_ip_lan 1025 tcp 80
Please provide us with the result of the following instructions after you run the packet tracer.
See the crypto Isakamp SA

Configure Cisco ASA VPN client
I did some research and the answers it was supposed to be possible, but no info on how to do it. I wonder if it is possible to configure a Cisco ASA 5505/10/20 to be a customer to an existing (in this case) cisco vpn client. The reasons why are complicated (and irrelevant IMO), but basically, I need to be able to make a small network that may be on this vpn rather than on individual computers.
The vpn client is a Basic IPSec over UDP Cisco VPN to an ASA5505.
So, how to set up an another ASA to connect to it as if it were a client?
Hello
Here is a document from Cisco on the configuration, the easy ASA of VPN server and Client
Although in this case, they use a PIX firewall as a client.
http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a00805c5ad9.shtml
Here's another site with instructions related to this installation program
http://www.petenetlive.com/kb/article/0000337.htm
I imagine that the site of Cisco ASA Configuration Guide documents will also give instructions how to configure it.

Routing with Cisco ASA 5520 VPN
I have installed IPsec vpn remote users in the Cisco ASA 5520 using RADIUS in my main network. Works very well. I have a site to my Cisco ASA5520 tunnels going to other sites, some of the tunnels have Cisco ASA and some have SonicWalls. I wish that my users VPN remote IPSec to be able to navigate in these tunnels is a site to access remote subnets attached to these tunnels. Do I need to use a combination of routing and the ACL? Or can I just use ACL only? Or just use routing only?
Thank you
Carlos
Hello
The key to set up here is the two ACL of VPN L2L end points that determine the 'interesting' traffic to connect VPN L2L. You will also need to confirm that the connection of the VPN Client is configured so that traffic to the remote sites have sent to the connection of the VPN client. There are also other things that you should check on your ASA plant
Here most of the things you usually have to confirm
- Set up 'permit same-security-traffic intra-interface' if it is already present in your configuration
- This setting will allow connections to form between the hosts that are connected to the same interface on the ASA. In this case, applies because the VPN client users are connected to the interface 'outside' of the ASA and also remote sites are connected to the ASA to "external". If the traffic between the remote VPN Client and VPN L2L sites will be to enter and exit the same interface
- You will need to check how the customer if configured VPN connection. Split or full Tunnel tunnel
- If the connection of the VPN Client is configured as Split Tunnel then you need to add all the networks from the remote to the Split Tunnel, so that the connections between the VPN Client is transmitted to the ASA and from there connections VPN L2L
- If the connection of the VPN Client is configured as full Tunnel, then there no problem that all traffic is transferred to the Client VPN connection all its assets
- Define the VPN pool in the ACL of VPN L2L
- You should make sure that the pool network VPN Client is defined in the ACL that define 'interesting' traffic to connect VPN L2L. So, you need to add the pool VPN VPN L2L configurations on the sites of Central America and remote control
- Configure NAT0 / NAT exempt for remote VPN Client to L2L VPN Site traffic at both ends of the VPN L2L
- You must ensure that the NAT0 / exempt NAT rules exist for the VPN Client for Remote Site traffic. This will have to be configured on the SAA "outside" interface. Format of configuration varies naturally a bit on the ASA Central his software level.
These should be the most common things to set up and confirm for traffic to flow between the VPN Client and Remote Sites
Hope this helps please rate if yes or ask more if necessary.

establish the GRE/IPSEC behind ADSL router
Hi all. This is my first post. I watch a lot to the internet so I can't find any help on this problem.
I would like to set up a VPN with ACCORD between 2 sites, but one of them is behind a router ADSL. This router redirects all external traffic to the external interface of the router.
The problem is that I don't know how to configure this router because only to see the crypto ipsec his you can see Start local crypto is 192.168.0.147
and the other router to assign this IP address to complete the second phase.
I hope that this has been explained clearly.
Thank you very much experts!
The problem is so much simpler if your GRE and IPSec endpoint termination ends on the same interface without NAT. However, things get a little tricky when you have NAT involved. In this situation, the following the following configuration example:

I labbed this place many years and it works very well

Cisco ASA IPSEC from the understanding of a site to tunnel auth using certificates
assuming that my company and another company (BBT) attempt to set up a tunnel to a site by using certificates. lets say we have asa 5520 s and have agreed to use says that our certification authority.
On my end, I do registration certificate using SCEP Protocol and suggests that the end BBT is set up exactly the same way.
First, I generate a pair of keys RSA - Im assuming that it is key to my ASA public private for the encryption and decryption-(pls correct me if wrong Im)
Then I set up a trustpoint to registration certificate (in this case, it will be Server CA Entrust). I will set up my full domain name and the parameters of CRL.
Then, I get a certificate of the AC CA. This package contains a fingerprint of the certificate which is loaded on my ASA. apparently - the fingerprint of the certificate is used by the 'end' entity to authenticate the received CA certificate. Why would the final entity to authenticate a CA certificate that has already been installed on this subject?
In other words, what really does this print? Surely this cant be the same footprint that GETS installed on the BBT ASA?Finally, I request and install a certificate of identity. It asks for a password? I believe that it is used in case I want to make changes to the certificate, such as the revocation of the certificate. (Once again, please correct me if wrong Im)
a few additional questions
during the phase of authentication isakmp how my asa verifies that the certificate that the ASA BBT sent was indeed signed by the certification authority approved. How exactly?
My ASA and ASA BBT must trust the same CA. In other words, it must be set up the same trustpoints?
or can I have to entrust CA server as a trustpoint and verisign? How the certificate authentication process works since the ASA receives valuable traffic through the exchange of encrypted data?
1 million thanks!
Hello west33637,
You can read this document to get a simple example of setting up a VPN S2S using certificates on an ASA
http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a0080aa5be1.shtml
I would try to separate your questions and see if I can answer. I will speak without using the SCEP Protocol because it adds a layer of complexity that can be confusing.
(Q) Comment can I get a certificate?
1 generate a RSA key pair. A pair of RSA keys as you indicate has a public and private key. Public and private keys are large number created by multiplying the other prime number (very simple explanation). These keys are used for encryption simple control. The private key is kept private and never awarded. The public key is provided for everyone through the certificate received from the device.
Data encrypted by the public key can only be decrypted by the private key and vice versa.
more details here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSA
2. we create a trustpoint (container to configure and set parameters in the certificate). In the trustpoint that we associate the RSA key pair, give a name (usually the FQDN of the server that will present this certificate), configure if certificates that are authenticated by the trustpoint must also be checked in the LCR... etc.
3. then we can create CSR using the crypto ca enroll command. Now, we take this REA and provide it to Entrust. If this is done via the SCEP protocol you would have already done the next step of the authentication of the trustpoint.
4. When you receive a certificate from a third party, such as Entrust, they should also provide the certificate chain that allows the authentication of the certificate that they have signed all the way upward at the root (self-signed certificate server, the certificate must already be approved by most of the systems of operation/web-browsers). We want to install the string in the ASA because the ASA does not trust any certificate by default, it has an empty certificate store.
5. on the SAA, we now install the string provided by Entrust. Usually your identification certificate will be signed by an intermediate CA, just like the certificate of supportforums.cisco.com. Trustpoint ASA system for a CA (root or intermediate) and an ID (identity) by trustpoint. So we will probably have at least a trustpoint more.
Crypto ca trustpoint Entrust_ROOT
Terminal registration
output
authenticate the crypto ca trustpoint Entrust_ROOT
Don't forget to use trustpoint names who will lead them to you and your organization. Create a trustpoint for each of the CA certificates except for the signer of the certificate direct to your ID. Authenticate the signer directly in the trustpoint even where you install your certificate ID.
the import of crypto ca trustpoint ID certificate.
You should now have a fully usable authenticated certificate. PKCS12 import require a certificate to decrypt the private key that is stored in a PKCS12. But if you generate your CSR on the same device that when you install the certificate, then it would not need to export PKCS12 and a password.
---
A small side is not on the signature, a signature of certificate (fingerprint), also known as the name of a digital signature is a hash of the certificate encrypted with the signer's private key. As we know, whatever it is encrypted with a key only can be decrypted by the public key... all those who approves the signer's public key. So when you receive the certificate, and you already trust the signer, then 1) to decrypt the signature and 2) check that your certificate hash table corresponds to the decrypted hash... If the decrypted hash does not match then you do not trust the certificate.
For example, you can watch the certificate for supportforums.cisco.com,
The topic is: CN = supportforums.cisco.com
The subject of sender (signatory) is CN = Akamai subordinate CA 3
Akamai subordinate CA 3 is an intermediate certification authority. It is not self-signed
CN = Akamai subordinate CA 3 issuer is CN = GTE CyberTrust Global Root
CN = GTE CyberTrust Global Root is a certificate root (Self signed).
We would like to install this entire chain in the ASA so that we can provide this certificate and chain to any device and safely as long as this device trusts CN = GTE CyberTrust Global Root, then it should be able to verify the signatures of the intermediary and, finally, our certificate of identity of us trust.
---
Looking for another post to do a quick discussion about how the certificate is used in ISAKMP and IPSec.
Kind regards

the package shows plotter drop because you run of out-of-in and in this case, you must specifically that traffic on the acl allow external interface. When the real traffic arrives through vpn, it checks for sysopt and then the interface access list is bypassed. but when you do a package tracer, simulated package does not in reality of vpn and therefore we have that allow outside interface acl for package tarcer to enable.

Cisco VPN Client and Windows XP VPN Client IPSec to ASA
I configured ASA for IPSec VPN via Cisco VPN Client and XP VPN client communications. I can connect successfully with Cisco VPN Client, but I get an error when connecting with the XP client. Debugging said "misconfigured groups and transport/tunneling mode" I know, they use different methods of transport and tunneling, and I think that I have configured both. Take a look at the config.
PS a funny thing - when I connect with client VPN in Windows Server 2003, I have no error. The only difference is that client XP is behind an ADSL router and client server is directly connected to the Internet on one of its public IP of interfaces. NAT in the case of XP can cause problems?

Hello
For the Cisco VPN client, you would need a tunnel-group name configured on the ASA with a pre-shared key.
Please see configuration below:
http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a00805734ae.shtml
or
Please see the section of tunnel-group config of the SAA.
There is a tunnel-group called "rtptacvpn" and a pre-shared key associated with it. This group name is used by the VPN Client Group name.
So, you would need a specific tunnel-group name configured with a pre-shared key and use it on the Cisco VPN Client.
Secondly, because you are behind a router ADSL, I'm sure that's configured for NAT. can you please activate NAT - T on your ASA.
"crypto isakmp nat-traversal.
Thirdly, change the transformation of the value
raccess 1 set transform-set vpnclienttrans crypto dyn1 dynamic-map
Let me know the result.
Thank you
Gilbert

I have problems to access the resources within the network when connecting with the Cisco VPN client for a version of 8.4 (3) operation of the IOS Cisco ASA 5510. I tried all new NAT 8.4 orders but cannot access the network interior. I can see traffic in newspapers when ping. I can only assume I have NAT evil or it's because the inside interface of the ASA is on the 24th of the same subnet as the network interior? Please see config below, any suggestion would be appreciated. I configured a VPN site to another in this same 5510 and it works well

Documentation for cisco asa ipsec l2tp / windows 7
Hello
I need to configure a few cisco asa 5510's for remote access VPN using l2tp ipsec. One of the requirements is that no additional vpn clients to connect. We only use the client included in Windows 7 x 86. Is there documentation on configuration of this device or a clear statement by saying that it is not taken in charge or possible yet?
Thank you
m.
Hey well at least on the errors of phase 1 more.
ASA is basically saying that's not the choice of the proposal.
