  Just to follow up with you on that, that very well may be the cause. Especially when it comes to mobile phones, the real cable you use is very important to have all the features when it is plugged into a computer.   Try installing Adobe Captivate 2 in 64-bit Windows 7, I get an error message saying "InstallShield Wizard has been interrupted... "Windows 7 compatibility tool has been no help. Captivate 2 was installed correctly in Windows XP Service Pack 2 or 3 (I can't remember which). Why it will not install in Windows 7, and how can I fix the problem?

  Adobe Captivate 2 is not compatible for use with Windows 7. Check out the following link.

  You can try to install in compatibility mode and see if it helps.

  (a) right click on the configuration file (the file setup.exe for the software), and then select Properties.

  (b) now, click on the Compatibility tab and check the box that says run this program in compatibility mode for.

  (c) select Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Click on apply and OK.

  (d) now right-click on the configuration file and select run as administrator and follow the normal installation procedure. Check to see if it helps.

• Why my Captivate 8 project will not preview or publish?

  I created this project from a template that was given to me by a recruiter. It was created in Captivate 7. When I click on preview, I have a process wheel that never solves. When I post, I click on Yes in the preview dialog box, but nothing happens. I tried to open it after publication and I get a blank page without error message.

  The platform is Mac OS 10.11.6. I don't see anything unusual in the file. It simulates the software with screenshots, audio and mouse action, followed with screenshots and hot spots. Nothing I have not done many times before. The only difference is the model.

  Problem solved! The question has nothing to do with the platform, at least not directly. The issue is that Mac requires a special Java Update specifically for existing programs. It had been installed, but my hard drive failed and I have installed a new. Update alert was quietly sitting somewhere on my computer. When I noticed it yesterday, I installed it, restarted, and everything worked.

  The lesson is, when you install a new hard drive, make sure that all the pesky java updates are in place.

• Calling an external javascript variable in captivate

  I need captivate to reference an external JavaScript variable to check if its value is 1 or 0. If the value is '1' I need to display a button, if the '0' button is hidden.

  The reason why I need external is I want the customer to be able to change the value of the variable without having to republish files.

  I am using Captivate 9, version cloud on my work computer.  I'm a software simulation training and/or assessment.  If I create a new project from the startup or within the workspace page, I can't capture occurs.  I usually find myself with one or two slides.

  When I try this at home, I have no problem with the screenshots.  However, on my computer, no go.  It is also the same subscription on both devices.

  Any suggestions?

  Are you running Captivate as administrator if you are using Windows?

  The paths for project files and the cache are oriented in folders on your system, and not on a network drive?

  I see the slidelet is here since the beginning of the slide. Have you tried to update to 8.0.3? How did you test the behavior: after the publication or in the preview? It is a very strange problem, I have used 8 for a year, but never saw this problem myself. Again, I have 8 on my desk with 9 but cannot reproduce your problem which makes it very difficult to guess. When you click on a button of Captivate within the project, it will trigger the animation of the table of contents to play, information display you. When you then close the border lead the table of contents, the Captivate project continues to play to advance to the next slide. I'll have a hard time integrating event listeners CPAPI_MOVIEPAUSE, CPAPI_MOVIERESUME and CPAPI_MOVIESTOP while maintaining a successful communication between Captivate and animate dashboard.   As I do this is to add a variable to the cpInfoCurrentFrame change event listener at the same time the listener to slides of entry. You check if you have reached the end of the slide and to set a variable. If you put this in the head of the index.html:

  I have been using Captivate today without any problems.  Evening, I had to go back and cannot start the application.  It let's me click it and nothing happens.

  Is the best plan of action to uninstall and reinstall the program?  If so, is there anything that I'd be suspicious when you do?  Did I lose my Captivate files?

  Feeling a little anxious so any advice is greatly appreciated.

  You will not lose your Captivate files, they must be stored in your Documents folder (hope that's on your system, or you did change the default paths in the preferences?). First try a few other workflow before reinstalling:

  • Clear cache, but probably because CP doesn't start at all, you will not be able to use the button in the preferences. Keep the default path for the Cache folder?
  • Cleaning preferences: this is possible without start CP. Run the CleanPreferences file that corresponds to your operating system, are in the subfolder "Utils" under the CP installation folder. You have access to this folder (depends on your rights)? If this isn't the case, will give an alternative.
  • Run the Captivate as Administrator: who do you have?
  • If you have access to the installation folder, you may be able to find the exe file and try to run it from there?

• Videos YouTube in Captivate-published files are now grown on the right side. Resolution?

  I already have the Captivate files eLearning modules and published using SCORM in my LMS. The files were fine. When I saw yesterday all the YouTube embedded files are truncated on the right and have 'dead space' on the left. It's as if they all are moved to the right. I have seen discussions on changes to the YouTube videos with the YouTube result does not. My question is a little different because the videos are present, but cropped. Also, the lower bar is part and I need it for viewers turn on the closed captioning (a large part of my audience is deaf).

  Is there any solutions for this? (Note that I have not access to a video server).

  HI, Mary.  Jump again, site of Captivate said that HTML5 output is no longer supported in Internet Explorer 9 or later, Safari 5.1 or later, and Google Chrome 17 or later.  Although not listed do not, the new Microsoft Edge works very well, too.  I find that older versions of browser are disappearing, but some of the less tech savvy people I work with are still using IE 8, so I suspect that it is perhaps a question based on your description of your target audience. In addition, the HTML5 version works fully in Firefox, the latest version, which is the main reason I publish in swf and html. I have fortunately only publish in html and encourage users to update their browsers, if it wasn't for Firefox problem.

  Of course, knowing this does not solve the problem.
