CD/DVD format

I could be wrong, but I don't think so... why do I have to format a CD or DVD before using it on my new Dell Inspiron 1520?  It's really very time consuming & why does take so long.  I would never buy Vista if I knew that it was involved.  I'm doing something useless?  It was formatting for about 1/2 hour - what happens if I was in a hurry to copy something?

EDIT: IT HAS BEEN 'FORMATTING' FOR AN HOUR!  who is normal?

EDIT: now I remember what I wanted to format for first !

Is it possible to use one of these function just to reinstal C: partition without losing data on the D: partition?

    Thanks for the reply :)

    Hi friend

usually the system restore the c: partition fair DVD formats, so if you have two separate partitions, the restore DVD should leave the D: partition intact.
In your case I would choose point 6. (Operating system restore) that supposedly only restores the operating system, which means that it scratches the C: drive...

You need a tool like iDVD or Toast to convert the sequence exported in DVD video and encode the disk for use in a DVD authoring DVD player. There are other DVD authoring tools, but offhand, I don't know their name.

    1. How did you try to format the CD/DVD?

2 is this problem with a particular CD/DVD or the CD? DVD?

    3. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

Try to format the drive in disk management.

Also check if you can format it from another computer to check if the disc is dirty.

You can read the following steps.
USB storage such as flash drives and usually come preformatted by the manufacturer, so you will probably have to format the memory cards flash. Check Control Panel > discovered by: icons > settings for AutoPlay to assign a program to play DVD, like Windows Media Player or Media Center.

RealPlayer causes endless problems.  For non-playable formats in WMP, I would like to install VLC Media Player which will install to play all other formats that WMP can play.

  • Export an mpeg file, or in a DVD format? questions around this :)

    Hi friends

Can I ask a silly question?

I wonder, when I finished the film editing, audio, effects and all that. When I am VERY satisfied with the result (you know the feeling )

OK, everything is on my calendar, and I press Ctrl + Mr. I chose MPEG2, and I get a file that I put on my desk. In my Office I burn with Windows DVD Maker, choosing to make a dvd in this program.

Here's my question: do I have to use other then PRpro to create a formatted DVD DVD disc?

Is it the same thing to burn a DVD file on a plate, then burn a plate of paper DVD format?

And then, why can't prememiere do that?

I use the Quebec in media encoding, but it makes no different...

    Help me understand this, please.

    Best regards from Norway

    Stig

    Hi Stig,

In the first, when you choose export > Media, Media Encoder opens and you have the options of format.

"MPEG-2" is NOT compatible for DVD burning - you will need to specifically choose "MPEG-2 for DVD" so that the encoding settings are correct and legal to meet the DVD specification.

In addition, it is insufficient to simply burn the MPEG-2 file on a DVD like 'data '. Yes, a computer he will play, but a DVD player will not recognize as a "DVD-video". You need to use again or another software "DVD Authoring" that formats all the info correctly. The end result is a disc that contains a "VIDEO_TS" folder, inside which are. VOB, nothing what it says MPEG-2 files.

So you can export good MPEG-2 for the Media Encoder DVD files, and then IMPORT those goods rappelling, or within the first, you can choose "file > Dynamic Link > yet" and her you will go straight into the still and the encoding is done behind the scenes.

But yes, you MUST use Adobe Encore (or similar) to get a DVD drive works.

  • Movie Maker does not play my video and help convert to DVD format.

I just started using Movie Maker.  I have a few movies made and published to my computer, and they played wonderfully.  I have two questions.  When I return to movie maker and open the file to make a few adjustments different edition of the film will not play.  I've tried everything.  My calendar of film is clearly visible, but nothing makes the reading of the full video in movie maker.  When I go back to recorded versions on my videos that I have no problem playing the video.  What Miss me.  I want to make a minor revision to my film but can't do play in movie maker.

Second question - I have only the ability to record on a cd on my computer at home.  I have saved movies on a CD and downloaded on my work computer that has Roxio and a DVD burner.  It seems that I have correctly recorded on my work computer to a DVD-R disc, and it appears that when he plays on my computer from the disk, however, when I try to play on a DVD player it displays an error and will not play.  Roxio gives me the opportunity to record in different formats for compatibility (old DVD to Blueray players) and I tried both without success.  Any ideas.

    =============================
What version of Windows are you using?
(you are in a forum XP but refers generally to publish)
    for Vista)

What version of Movie Maker are you running?

What is the format of your backed up files in Movie Maker?
    . MSWMM? .wmv?

For a re-edition, you need the project .mswmm file
and all your source files must be in the original
places where you can see red Xs in Movie Maker
Collections pane. If you see the red Xs you can
in a right click of the Xs and get access to the
current location of the source files and restore
    the path.

  • Can no longer write or even CD/DVD format. "Error Code COOD10DA".

Vista 32-bit, with AVG security and using TDK DVD + RW.  Tried to burn a file from inside Media Player, received the message "error Code COOD10DA".  Downloaded and run the Fixit utility, he said he had resolved a problem concerning "media being not not accessible writable", then invited me to format a data disc.  Returned with the message "unable to complete the format".  Can read disks OK.

    Hello

    1. Are what "Fixit utility" you referring?
    2. The problem occurs with all files you try to burn and with all the DVDs you are using?

We get this error code whenever there is dust on the surface of the disc, the recording speed is high, interference with the programs that are running in the background.

You can follow the steps mentioned below and check.

You got the C00D10DA error message when you use Windows Media Player.

  • You can use video fv to the DVD Format through Windows DVD Maker

A fv format video is downloadable to dvd through dvd windows creation?

    Hello
I don't know if you wanted to designate the type of file .flv or fv. In any case.
Windows DVD maker generally supports these file types:
Video files: .asf, .avi, .dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv
Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma
File Picture: .bmp, DIBs, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff and .wmf
[Please make sure you have the right codecs (audio and video)]
If you are unable to load your video file in Windows Dvd maker, you can download a free video converter that is very simple from the following link:
With this simple software you can convert your video to AVI video file type that is easily supported by Windows Dvd maker

  • Need advice on the rendering of a file for authouring PAL DVD, format, codec, compression

    Hello.

Im working on an experimental audiovisual project that needs to be exported to a file that will be used for the DVD to a compilation of creative works. IM pretty much against it time, the deadline is close and im spending many hours trying different settings - output but still im do not reach the level of quality in the final file I expect to see.

Ive been given technical specifications are:

    -Maximum duration: 6 min.
    -PAL
    -16 x 9 if possible
    -mov file if possible

My compostion is in black and white and shades of gray. It was out of a video Toolbox in real-time, but I infact used Fraps to capture uncompressed video, as her reacts software at in realitme sound. No problem here, the images I got is fine and works perfectly, at 30 frames per second (here is perhaps one of my problems that maybe I should have output/captured video at 25 frames per second since I understand what the rate for PAL)

Anyway Ive done my compostion by superimposing several segments of the video captured in sync with the sound.

    (1) first of all, whenever I out in any format, everything becomes a little grey - IE the bottom black deep perfect dark gray go. How can I avoid this?

    (2) what is the best type of file to the format/path/from out for the conversion of best quality of 30 frames per second at 25 frames per second. I noticed that the video becomes slightly jerky when I got out with a PAL output configuration preset.

I would appreciate if someone could guide me on the best possible formats/file types and the bitrates to deal with this specific set of cladding im problems. Unfortunately, I need to make the due date in the coming days.

    Thank you very much

If you create a DVD, there is really no choice of codecs, since the DVD-video is a very specific and closely forced to MPEG-2 video form. MPEG-2 video is highly compressed and is not a format high definition, so it is absolutely inevitable that export to DVD video will cause a loss of quality. This is true for the same professionally created DVD. There is a DVD MPEG-2 export preset in After Effects that you can choose in the Format menu in the settings of output Module dialog box.

If, however, you are given your video as input for a larger work, and you must create an intermediate file that keeps all the details for as long as possible in the post-production pipeline, you should view and export using lossless coding. My preference for the creation of intermediate files compressed without loss of sources of 8 bits-per-channel is the PNG video codec in QuickTime (MOV) container.

For information on the compression and the choice of the parameters for specific purposes, see this FAQ entry (and the pages it links to the):

    http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/729526

You said 'jerky' output. See this FAQ entry for more information on the movies encoded without loss and how they are not suitable for reading:

    http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/684381

Or maybe saccades comes from the inadequacy of the frequency of frames between your source 30 frames per second and 25 frames per second composition. If so, then interpolation can help.
