  I installed a new 512 GB SSD AHCI in a DT120 adapter and plugged into a PCI bus on my Mac Pro 2012.

  It will be interesting to know if your external CD is a USB or PCMCIA device.

  You must make a Windows startup disk and add drivers for your CD-ROM BACK drive and then you should be able to recover the machine with this CD.
