Cisco Anyconnect Essentials License - What is it

Hello community.

I managed to install an ASA with Anyconnect. The Anyconnect client on my laptop works very well.

But why now to buy a Cisco Anyconnect Essentials License, what exactly is this license?

AnyConnect works fine without this license.

But I can not connect with my IPhone with the Cisco Anyconnect for Iphone App. should I buy the Anyconnect for Mobile license and this license just for a single device or all devices. Because this license is really cheap. Cisco licenses normally are expensiv.

Thank you and best regards patrick

If you have not all AnyConnect Premium licenses, then you are limited to two simultaneous connections if you do not have the license of anyConnect Essentials. You are right, for i-devices (and Android...) you need the AnyConnect Mobile license.

AnyConnect Essentials both AnyConnect Mobile are approved by ASA, not user connections. And AnyConnect Mobile needs AnyConnect essential or Preimium AnyConnect license must be activated.

  • Install the client via a browser web w. ANyConnect Essentials license?

I wonder if it is still possible for individual users install the AnyConnect client by authenticating is via a web browser and allow the web browser to launch the installation, even if the device that the user connects to is running in mode anyconnect essentials?

In addition, a bonus question: If there are several groups of tunnel and I want the user to know the name of the tunnel group in order to connect (because I don't want to show which groups of tunnel are available), can I force a user to access a specific URL to connect to this group of specific tunnel? I did it with the premium version of the AnyConnect VPN in my lab, but still works for the most part? And what happens if the user starts the AnyConnect client and connects without using the web browser to open the VPN session? The AnyConnect client remember what tunnel group was finally to that specific device or what I have to show which groups of tunnel are available in the AnyConnect client to allow the user to reconnect to this group of specific tunnel?

    Oscar

You can continue to launch web AnyConnect the Essentials installed with a license. In order to direct users to a particular group of tunnel without using an alias and drop-down, you can configure the group URL. For example, you have a tunnel group called employee and another contractor called. With the group URL, users can access the respective web portal by entering https://vpn.test.com/employee or https://vpn.test.com/contractor. For users who already have the AnyConnect client installed, you can either insert the group above url in the connection box, or you can configure a host name address and the host by using a profile.

Someone could please check the licenses for ASA 5510 attachment and let me know. We currently have ASA 5510 with basic license. According to the table attached under VPN sessions, he mentions that "250 combined SESSIONS IPSec and WebVPN" and to "Max box of WebVPN Session" it is mentioned that 2nd meeting, exceeding that we must buy license optional webvpn. While we the 250 combined license for IPSec and webVPN. You are welcome.

    1 Yes

2 AnyConnect requires no Java, but it can he use when connecting to one AnyConnect SSL VPN client and launch the Web browser option start Java-based. There was a bug with the AnyConnect old versions had later who should have addresses. You also have the option to launch via IE and using ActiveX or simply throw AnyConnect directly - neither of these two methods require Java.

Here is a document TAC on the Java questions if you want more details.

  • Cisco Anyconnect license upgrade Questions

    Hi all

So, we currently have a pair of failover ASA 5515 - X running at one of our sites. This serves as a VPN gateway for our users. I am migrating users from the old Cisco VPN client to the newest Cisco Anyconnect client. I have work and installing anyconnect. Meanwhile, I discovered that process to take care of TLS 1.1 and using the Anyconnect client, you must use the most recent 4.0 Anyconnect client. To use this client, you must have something license called a "Anyconnect more" I think it was a recent change of return in 2014. We currently have the Anyconnect Essentials license installed on the ASA pair. I discovered that not only it a license upgrade available for upgrade Anyconnect positive of the battery, but the Anyconnect Plus license is subscription now. Boo Cisco. But that's another debate.

I went ahead and reluctantly bought the upgrade license to upgrade Anyconnect positive of the battery. I am trying to understand however the affects of the installation of this license with respect to the current VPN functionality. Currently, we offer the following VPN options for our users:

RA IPSEC (IKE v1via former customer)

RA IPSEC (L2TP via the Windows client)

    SSL (Anyconnect 3.0)

We also use tunneling IPSEC of P2P (IKEv1 PSK) between two sites to serve as a link of relief when our primary site-to-site link fails.

If anyone knows what would be the effect on the current VPN functionality when installing my upgrade license? He turns off the older IPSEC IKEv1 feature? As I said I want to migrate to the newer platform users but still have need of the oldest customer work until this can be done. I have this in my current setup:

    WebVPN

    AnyConnect essentials

What happens on this command when I apply the new license?

Appreciate any help here. Thank you.

Addition of the new activation key and the client configuration somehow 4.x will not affect the IKEv1, L2TP or VPN SSL. "AnyConnect essentials" rest a command active and valid

It will give the ability to activate the advanced security features that require the 4.x client.

  • ASA 5510 Anyconnect licenses with Cisco Anyconnect VPN IP phone

Hi, hoping someone can shed some light on what I'm just more confused over trying to get by. Not sure if this goes in the section IP Telehpony or here...

We have an ASA 5510 with the base license. We need to install IP phones to home teleworkers, and I understand there are Cisco IP phones that have built-in VPN clients to enable a tunnel to the central private network. IT seems that you can't use Anyconnect VPN to do this, and I am trying to establish what upgrade licenses, we must apply to the ASA, as both Anyconnect licenses that you get for free on the SAA is not enough.

    This is the phone that we seek;

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6788/phones/ps10499/ps11005/data_sheet_c78-603725.html

I want to know is the Anyconnect Essentials license will work with these IP phones?

When I do a version of the show,

    VLAN maximum: 50

    Internal hosts: unlimited

    Security contexts: 0

    GTP/GPRS: disabled

    Assessment of Advanced endpoint: disabled

Proxy sessions for the UC phone: 2

Total number of Sessions of Proxy UC: 2

    Botnet traffic filter: disabled

This platform includes a basic license.

It shows "AnyConnect for Linksys phone: Disabled", it is the same for the Cisco IP phones? It is the kind of specific license, should I seek for Anyconnect on IP phones or will Essentials?

    Hi Leo,

you will need 2 licenses: an Anyconnect Premium license and a permit «Anyconnect of Cisco VPN phone»

ASA 8.2 and earlier license "for Cisco VPN Phone" has been named "for phone Linksys' it's the same.

  • HA possibility of twinning? two ASA5520s, one with Anyconnect Essentials with Anyconnect more licenses - can these two equivalent license types HA pair successfully?

I have two ASA5520s... we have 750 Anyconnect Essentials licenses and the other 750 Anyconnect more licenses.

These can two successfully pair HA or I need to have both on the same exactly the type of license?  that is the two Anyconnect more...

    Thank you!

    HAL

    Hi hmcandrew,

As far as I know, you need to require one of the ASA on the other to run in failover mode.

Maybe if you run them in a private network virtual-balancing of the load in place, they will be able to work, but it will not give you HA.

Please see the following link for more information:

  • Do I need a license AnyConnect Essentials after upgrade to 8.0 (4) 9.0 (1)

    Hello

I have an ASA 5510 executes code 8.0 (4). It has a WEBVPN license which allows a number of connectivity of peers with a 2.2 AnyConnect ssl vpn client (I have not needclientless SSL VPN features). As AnyConnect Essentials/Premium was introduced on the 8.2 code, does this mean I have to get at least an AnyConnect Essentials license if I upgrade to the latest code, or my WEBVPN license will still suffice?

If you already have the WebVPN license when running on the 8.0.4, version then you need not purchase a license more.

The WebVPN license is the equivalent of the AnyConnect Premium license.

If your output to 'see the version' shows WebVPN for more than 2 users license, then you're OK when you upgrade to version 9.0

  • Cisco AnyConnect deployment

We are currently using Cisco VPN Client.  I'm looking to migrate to Cisco Any Connect.  Our ASA 5520 has 750 IPSec and SSL 2 license.  I also have about 40 IPSec VPN site-to-site on it.  Here's what I want to know?

1 - anyconnect will interfere with site to site tunnels?

2 if I place anyconnect with IPSec instead of SSL can I still purchase the license premium or essentials?

3 lets say if I have to get the permit and I get essentials it will cause problems with the VPN site to site?

    Thank you.

    1 n ° not at all.

2 Anyconnect Essentials licenses the ASA of the IPSec remote VPN access using w/IKEv2 and SSL VPN AnyConnect client. Premium adds based on a browser (clientless) SSL VPN, Cisco Secure Desktop support, possibility of Advanced endpoint assessment, and use shared pools of license in a cluster of the SAA. Note This Essentials and Premium AnyConnect license cannot coexist on a given ASA. Once you register any AnyConnect Premium feature, it excludes the possibility of also using essential AnyConnect licenses (on the ASA).

  • Installing AnyConnect Mobile licenses

I want to clarify how exactly a Cisco AnyConnect Mobile license is applied to an ASA. Does as a PAK and then a license key is created? Y at - it a separate to enter specifically for the mobile command?

The mobile license was delivered as a PAK who was converted into a license key.

But today, you buy the mobile license more, instead you buy 4 AnyConnect more or APEX which includes the mobile service.

If you already have Essentials or premium, you can get the license migration until the end of the year.

  • ASA 5500 x new anyconnect VPN license structure

I wonder if anyone can give me some insight on the new ASA VPN (SSL VPN) structure of license.  Currently, I have anyconnect premium license installed on the ASA 5500 series but want to buy the same type of license for x ASA 5500 series.  I understand the premium license is required for SSL VPN and webvpn.  Can someone find out if the premium anyconnect and anyconnect essentials license has been replaced by the Cisco Anyconnect Apex licence?

The new AnyConnect Apex maps old Premium licenses. They are now focused on the term (1, 3-5 years) and have been approved by a single user (regardless of the number of devices) vs. concurrent users on the old regime.

Apex (or the old premium) is required for clientless SSL VPN. Regular-based on the SSL VPN client AnyConnect requires no Apex but can be done by using only more licenses.

The new AnyConnect Plus is the old Essentials plus mobile licenses. There is an option of perpetual and based on the duration.

By single user licensing is a terms and conditions / EULA stuff and not enforced by technical means at the moment.

  • NAC and ASA AnyConnect Essentials

If you have the Essentials AnyConnect VPN license - the ASA is able to do all of the NAC such as searching the registry value or check his firewall definitions are up-to-date?  Thank you.

With an AnyConnect Essentials license is activated, without client feature WebVPN, Cisco Secure Desktop (CSD) and assessment of Advanced endpoint is disabled.  For this reason, you won't be able to make the registry checks, check the antivirus updates, etc..

  • Cisco Anyconnect VPN and IPSEC coexist on ASA 5520?

Can a Cisco ASA 5520 which has been configured as IPSEC VPN gateway and also be configured as a gateway ANYCONNECT VPN and vpn IPSEC service anyconnect vpn clients clients maintenance at the same time? Any negative impact on the performance or any other problem that everyone knows?

I guess that by 2 connection limit, you are referring to the 2 licenses for anyconnect?  You should consider using the anyconnect essentials license, which is relatively cheap (100-200 dollars I think) and will take you to the edge of the platform with anyocnnect.

You shouldn't have any problem using IPSEC with LDAP client.  It is quite common - my company is IPSEC as Anyconnect off the coast of the same interface using authentication ldap (even same-group policy) for the two.

  • Cisco Anyconnect to mobile license?

    Dear all:

Currently, we will activate cisco anyconnect for mobile (IPAD), our license is currently:

Material: ASA5510, 1024 MB RAM, Pentium 4 Celeron 1599 MHz processor
Internal ATA Compact Flash, 256 MB

    Hardware encryption device: edge Cisco ASA - 55 x 0 Accelerator (revision 0 x 0)

The devices allowed for this platform:
    The maximum physical Interfaces: unlimited
    VLAN maximum: 100
    Internal hosts: unlimited
    Failover: Active/active
    VPN - A: enabled
    VPN-3DES-AES: enabled
    Security contexts: 2
    GTP/GPRS: disabled
    VPN SSL counterparts: 10
    The VPN peers total: 250
    Sharing license: disabled
    AnyConnect for Mobile: disabled
    AnyConnect Cisco VPN phone: disabled
    AnyConnect Essentials: disabled
    Assessment of Advanced endpoint: disabled
Proxy sessions for the UC phone: 2
Total number of Sessions of Proxy UC: 2
    Botnet traffic filter: disabled

This platform includes an ASA 5510 Security Plus license.

as I read, so cisco anyconnect for mobile (IPAD), I need two licenses:

AnyConnect Essentials and AnyConnect for Mobile, is that correct?

If I want to activate this just for 10 users, I can do this? What are the available license I have to select by the user issues a year (or over a year?)

can my final question get these licenses from Amazon, since google shows as these offers.

    Please help thanks

I would go for the license more. It is much cheaper then the VPN-only-license and you can continue to use it when you change the ASA in a newer model.

  • License AnyConnect disables AnyConnect essentials

Is this correct?  It does not seem right.  I bought a mobile Anyconnect license to add to my ASA 5505, who already had active Anyconnect Essentials.

I received the watch activation key that I would go to:

License : Base Max Physical Interfaces : 8 VLANs : 3, DMZ Restricted Dual ISPs : Disabled Trunk Ports : 0 Failover : Disabled Inside Hosts : 50 VPN DES Encryption : Enabled VPN 3DES and AES Encryption : Enabled VPN Peers : 10 SSL VPN Peers : 2 Shared SSL VPN licensing : Disabled AnyConnect Mobile : Disabled Linksys VPN Phone : Disabled AnyConnect Essentials : Enabled Advanced Endpoint Assessment : Disabled UC Proxy Sessions : 2 UC Phone Proxy Sessions : 2 Botnet Traffic Filter : Disabled

    TO:

Inside Hosts : 50 Failover : Disabled Encryption-DES : Enabled Encryption-3DES-AES : Enabled Security Contexts : Default GTP/GPRS : Disabled AnyConnect Premium Peers : Default Other VPN Peers : Default Advanced Endpoint Assessment : Disabled AnyConnect for Mobile : Enabled AnyConnect for Cisco VPN Phone : Disabled Shared AnyConnect Premium License server : Disabled Shared License : Disabled UC Phone Proxy Sessions : Default Total UC Proxy Sessions : Default AnyConnect Essentials : Disabled Botnet Traffic Filter : Disabled Intercompany Media Engine : Disabled Cluster License : Disabled vCPUs : 0

The Mobile license should not disable Essentials. That could be a mistake made by the license server.

I recommend to open a TAC case and urging them to please put in the queue for license Global (GLO) operations. Request GLO re - issue an activation key which includes your already approved essentials.
