Cisco ucs with VMware 5 auto deploy

Hello

In our lab, I test with 5 VMware and Cisco UCS. We run UCSM 2.0 (1 m). I am now to test the auto hand deploy. I have auto configuration to deploy in VMware and it works (first of all, I had some problems with DHCP on windows which is solved in version 2.0 of UCSM (q)). vSphere gets deployed to the blade. When the blade (vShpere) wants to connect to vCenter I get an error of vCenter has enough licesing for this action. I loaded a lot of low-income VMware. When I create a virtual machine, it starts perfectly and apears in vCenter.

I search on the internet for people who have the problem of the simailer, but could not find.

Some body the same problem our help me?

Thanks in advance,

Robin

Robin,

This looks more like a VC related question (UCS) platform.  UCS has no effect on the functionality of licenses of the VC.

If the host does not connect to the CR, how are you VMs to "start perfectly and appear in vCenter?

Kind regards

Robert

Craig, I know of many clients running the Cisco USC with VMware and they are very happy. There is no known issue with vFoglight perspective. • Auto deploy hangs to the pxe boot

    Has anyone seen this error before?  AutoDeploy hangs during the boot process.  It loads iPXE, retrieves the URL https://my.autodeploy.server:6501 / vmw/rbd/tramp.  It crashes and eventuall fails when trying to post to/vmw/rbd/host-register? bootmac = ${mac}

I restarted the server autodeploy. Run vmware vsphere auto deploy v5.1.0.4058 version 774808.  My next step is to upgrade auto deploy later.

    autodeploy.png

Did you use stateless-cache option (defined in the profile of the host). This would have created the partition on your drive, remove it and try.

Another possibility could be, downloaded to autodeploy image would be corrupted.  Download the image once more with the name of profile of different image and set to host and try to start the stateless person once more.

  • Cisco UCS

Still someone deployed Cisco UCS with vSphere. It's an interesteding offering that seems to take blades to a whole new level. Some of the interesting aspects include:

    Hardware virtualization

Memory - can use 192 or 384 GB of memory per Blade model

Wiring - use about half of the normal wiring

CPU - CPU density is much greater than the current blades.

Integration with other Cisco devices. Call Manager and integrity are now options for virtualization.

A single pane of glass management. This can be managed in Virtual Center.

E/S. With Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) and a significant improvement of the CNA inputs and outputs.

I'm looking to see what kind of gotcha people have met others and cost. Upgrades were necessary SAN or any other

    the hidden costs or requirements?

    Mike

Well, it is a wonderful solution and works very well!

as long as you have a switch for the CF that supports the NPV (like MDS), then you will have your SAN ready!

  • Cisco UCS update for vmware

    Hi all

I am facing a problem to upgrade my vmware environment. Is it possible to upgrade my current environment to vmware vSphere 5.0 to 5.5 or v6 vSphere? Here's my current Cisco UCS report. Cisco said that no Vmware said yes.  Someone at - he tried or who have this problem?

Current version = UCSM B series

    The UCS = 2.1 release (2)

    Server model = B230-M2

Adapter = CAN-M91kR UCS Virtual Interface Card

If you need confirm the hardware and software compatibility, here is your best friend:

    http://www.Cisco.com/Web/TechDoc/UCS/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

With version UCSM you use and the material, you have the latest version supported is ESXi 5.1 U1, but if you upgrade to 2.1.3 you will see Esxi 5.1 U2 - 3, 5.5, 5.5 ESXi U1 - 2 and 6 Esxi ESXi.

I bet you meant to type M81KR, so keep this in mind for a proper functioning:

    1.5.0.45 = card driver (FNIC), 2.1.2.38 (ENIC)
    Adapter Firmware = 2.1 (3)

  • Cisco UCS B200 M4Compatible with 2100 FEX in UCS 5108 chassis & FI 6100?

    Hello

The blade server Cisco UCS B200 M4 is compatible with FEX 2100 within a Cisco UCS 5108 chassis & Cisco UCS 6100 fabric of interconnection?

The interop tool said clearly for the B200-M4:

    http://www.Cisco.com/Web/TechDoc/UCS/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

Note 14: The 2104XP fabric Extender is not compatible when the 1240 and 1280 or 1240 and VIC Port Expander are combined on the same blade. Applies to the M3 and M3 B200 as well as B420 B22 with 1240 and the 2 adapter connector populated

    or for the VIC 1340

Note 38: 6100 series fabric interconnects and 2100 series fabric Extender is not supported

  • How can Cisco ucs c220 m4 I start with 12g cisco sas controller? 2012 UEFI Server installation issues

first time with cisco ucs c220 m4, check my photos

    You have a VD 11TB.

Only way to start on this is by using UEFI.

You need to activate UEFI in the boot order.

Anything over 2 TB and more 4 K sector size readers require the UEFI boot option.

BIOS will not process the VDs when manages UEFI.

    Kirk...

Summary for those who seek a similar question:

    • Client a large VD created, 11TB
    • 2 TB and more, 4K sector drives, require boot UEFI + GPT, cannot use the legacy/MBR
    • To set startup to local HD option, that referenced the PCI-E Slot, the raid controller was in (HBA slot in this case)
    • UEFI mode, can't score a VD as "bootable disk / startup.
    • You will see not the VD/raid controller appear in the 'real' boot order during the OS install.
    • Once the installation of the OS compatible UEFI is made, it will create a UEFI boot to the operating system "Windows Boot Manager" entry in our case.
    • After the next reboot, if you check your boot order, you should see this UEFI OS boot manager entry.

  • UCS Manager & Vmware

    Hi guys,.

Before we set our Cisco UCS solution in we have Vmware running with Nexus 1000v switch. After the installation of the Cisco UCS solution, we migrated a lot off the coast of the old system to the new. By reading the manual on setting up vCenter, Port and VMS profiles in UCS Manager, it seems that this creates a new on the nexus 1000v vsm. Anyway is to import what we have so that we see in the UCS Manager?

David, the functionality of the UCS you speak is known as VN-Link in the material while the Nexus 1000v is known as VN-link in the software. Installation and configuration is very similar to the Nexus 1000v but they are separated distributed virtual switches.

Unfortunately, you can't use both because they require the VEM loaded on ESX hosts and the UCS VN-link requires a login policy dynamic UCS vNIC. If you use the 1000v, you will not be able to use the VM tab in UCSM and you will not see anything on the virtual computers tab on a Service profile.

In my opinion the Nexus 1000v is preferable because is offer more features, more scalable and is managed/set NX - OS. Of the UCS VN-link option also limits the number of virtual machines, you can run on a host computer, because the dynamic vNIC takes in charge a maximum of 56 depending on how rising your chassis to your FIs. If you have only 2 uplinks of your chassis then the max machines virtual host when using the UCS VN-Link is 20-24, according to the number of vNIC ESX host, you create as part of your Service profile.

  • Dell TL4000 Tape Library on Cisco UCS 6120

    Hello

We have Cisco UCS 5108 2 6120XP fabric of interconnection. We are running VMware on my Cisco blades. I have I need to connect my Dell TL 4000 LTO3 tape library this Cisco UCS so that I can configure a virtual machine with the EMC Networker software for backup of virtual machine data. When I connect the Cisco UCS library, it does not recoginize as tape drive.

Please suggest how to set up the same.

    Thank you

    Amit,

We do not support direct damage attach FC tape library to the FI currently.

It may be a CF or CF storage end switch.

  • Cisco UCS Direct Attached ISCSI Storage access upstream to storage array

I'm doing my first installation of UCS with a chassis 5108) and (4) B200 M3 blade and (2) 6248 fabric interconnects. The plan is to connect our EMC VNX directly on the fabric of interconnections as the chassis will be the only system for access to the SAN, after migration from our current system. The fabric interconnects will be transmitted to (2) 4500-X switches configured in a vs.

In my research of best practices and general deployment guidelines I noticed the need to create (2) separate iscsi VLANS for fabric and a fabric in B. I'm guessing that this requirement is the lack of STP as YEW is configured in EHM, but I was not able to find an exact answer. Any idea would be appreciated.

My main question and my concern is that if I create a second VLAN ISCSI on our X 4500 and then create both of these VIRTUAL on FI networks A & B I'll be able to connect the SAN to the UCS as well as our former VMware cluster (we are migrating our system HP Compute and storage UCS 5.5 environment) in order to facilitate the vMotions of storage?

I noticed the need for iscsi separated (2) VLAN a fabric and a fabric B

    Are you referring to

    https://www.EMC.com/collateral/hardware/technical-documentation/h8229-VN...

    p 36

If I understand your question: can a host attached to 4500 (connected to the UCS FI), access LUNS on the VNX, which is directly connected to the UCS fabric interconnect through lanes (EHM FI) material? YES! I would accept this for a migration, but not forever, because it means that traffic on the fabric of interconnection.
