CMOS button xw8200

Stupidly, I put a password 'walk' on my xw8200. I am now locked because when I start it does not recognize my password. I know it's okay, but who can argue with a computer?

I changed the battery cr, leaving a new, out for more than an hour, but I'm still locked.

I told myself I should press the cmos button, but try as I may just, I can't. Can someone help this poor old soul and tell me where it is? Yes - I have googled but so far, have been unable to find a picture showing exactly where it is.

Hello:

There are two ways to clear the password on your PC.

Please refer to the manual on the link below.  Annex H, page 174 will provide the guidance and information needed to find the cmos button and the methods to clear the password.

http://bizsupport2.Austin.HP.com/BC/docs/support/SupportManual/c00213033/c00213033.PDF

Chapter 4, Page 67, paragraph 12 will give you the location of the cmos button.

    Greetings,

We bought the Dells years but has recently begun to give HP a glance. The first unit I received just stopped working during testing of deployment and gives me 3 long beeps (red LED) with 3 short beeps (white LED). According to the manual, this translates, "the on-board controller exceeded waiting for BIOS return the initialization of graphics. I couldn't find the specific troubleshooting steps for this error I did what follows based on the tests that I did:

    -Cleared CMOS

The system only would not start after that application of the BIOS settings using the Configuration BIOS HP utility so maybe something went wrong there. That said, I applied the settings with this tool several times before on the same system without problem, but thought it was worth a start. Here is my config file:

    BIOSConfig 1.0
    Legacy startup options
    Disable
    * Select
    Legacy boot order
    HDD:USB:1
    CDROM:SATA:1
    HDD:SATA:1
    NETWORK: SHIPPED: 1
    UEFI boot options
    * Disable
    Enable
Configure legacy support and secure start
    * Legacy Support enable and Secure Boot Disable
Disable legacy support and Secure Boot Enable
Disable legacy support and Secure Boot Disable

-Exchanged cards (Nvidia Quado K420) video with a known good card. We bought two units to test if I had an identical system to Exchange.

    -Shared memory.

    -Reinstall any cables.

Any ideas on what I should try before you send it again?

Last update 08/08: another IT unit in our Organization has reported the same beep code with one of the Z240s they just bought. For them, the BIOS has refused to save all the settings and could not start later.

    Last update 08/09:

Another machine died today. Same case, technicians were simply trying to configure the BIOS settings. Another detail is that these have been shipped with BIOS version 01.24. I recommend our technicians that they update to version 01.27 for now, but the notes do not mention a specific fix for what we see. I hope someone from HP can jump in here soon...

    Product no.: L8T14AV

For all those who could fall on this thread... I managed to reproduce the problem by going to Configuration of Boot Secure and uncheck the box 'Key activate MS UEFI CA'. After talking with the help of HP, it was determined that we should not be in contact with this option at all. This option is intended for graphics cards configured for backup device from Microsoft.

In addition, there is a bug in the BIOS version 01.24 which prevents the Clear CMOS button to work correctly, so there is no recourse for a person who commits the mistake of setting the option above. HP will provide an update in revision 01.28 to stop people from shooting itself in the foot. It is recommended to update the systems at 01.27 for now.

Finally, we do not have an answer to what happened to systems that could not save changes to BIOS and subsequently on faileed to start. I will update this thread if it becomes something more than an anomaly.

  • 260 Mini G1: change the language of the BIOS on a HP Mini 260 G1

I just got my Mini G1 260 a supplier online German and the BIOS language is set to German. I can't find a way to change the BIOS language in English (or French).

Haven't tried the BIOS Configuration utility as my system is not in the list of compatible hardware.

I tried to Flash the BIOS with the latest version on the HP site, did not work.

Trying to clear CMOS (both by pressing the clear CMOS button and removing the battery) but the default values of the BIOS in German anyway.

What can I do to get it in a language I understand?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Called support and the solution is pretty simple: just press F8 in the BIOS, easy as that.

Why is this documented anywhere? Hope that now, at least, this will help other people with this stupid problem.

  • HP Z820 workstation: Z820 HP does start, fans at high speed, no BIOS, no signal in the monitor.

    Hello world

    My listing of workstation: HP Z820, Dual Xeon E5-2687W @ 3.1 - 3, 8 GHz, graphic card Nvidia quadro K5000, 64 GB RAM, 2 x 500 GB HARD drive.
The workstation is still under warranty.

They arrived after upgrade to Windows 10 (from 8.1 to Windows) and put such BIOS updated as recommended by HP support Assistant.

I was on the process to refresh the 10 Windows , then the system automatically tried rebooting to complete the update, but he never did it again! and then the fans running at full speed. After waiting for 2-3 minutes, I had to hold the power button to turn off the computer.

After waiting for about 10 minutes, I tried to start the computer, but the same thing happened: you press the button power and then after about a minute , fans rotating at high speed, no signal, no BIOS, no noise, no power in the keyboard or mouse, the blue LED light to the rear.

So I let the computer without power for 7 hours... (The power cable is disconnected).

At 11:00: reconnected the power cable (HDD and DVD ROM are DISCONNECTED) and tried to start but the same thing happened.

Now, I'm on google to find a solution:

    1. power? (Have not yet been tested food.)
2 motherboard? No damage to the capacitors or anything else.
3 reset the BIOS/CMOS? (Power disconnected cable) Removed the battery and put it back it, held the CMOS button for 5 seconds.
4 graphics card? Replaced the K5000 Quadro with a Quadro 4000.
    5. exercise of the power of the system? held the power button with the power cord unplugged for 30 seconds.

None of the above solves the problem but now when you press the power button / the fans start to run at high speed immediately! This got worse?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The problem is a faulty motherboard and it was replaced under warranty.

  • HP EliteDesk 800 G1 SFF: HP EliteDesk 800 G1 SFF: using VGA and DisplayPort simultaneously for double configuration monitor

If the title says it all. I'm trying to set up two monitors on my HP EliteDesk 800 G1 SFF. Here is my configuration:

    1. first monitor (Acer B223W) lights DisplayPort and displays things normally.

    2. second monitor (HP LP2065) is on the VGA port.

The problem is that my second port monitor never gets a signal from the machine and going to sleep mode. Connect the second monitor changes my main screen at a desk empty (no icons, no taskbar, just a plain painted paper), which I believe means it tries to use my VGA monitor as main display.

However, the VGA monitor never seems to show anything. I spent my main screen on the first monitor successfully too, but is not all about him either.

  • No installation ssd usdt

I am trying to install an SSD in my d530 USDT. There is a slot for the connection where the large cable would connect but is much smaller for the SSD drive and fits the smaller SSD for the connection, but there is not one where the second connection would be to connect the power supply. On the SSD drive there is a small slit of connection that I guess would be to power the original HD had for its housing of power.

    Hello:

In fact, there is a port sata on your model.  See page 7 of the link below.

    https://h10057.www1.HP.com/ecomcat/hpcatalog/specs/emeapsg/99/D530SERIES.PDF

It's a very strange looking thing.  It does not resemble a standard desktop sata port.  It is much more difficult to research.

On my d530 CMT, there were two.

If it's something like those on the WTO, a black connector L shaped.

The ports on the IMS are right next to the button battery. The yellow reset CMOS button is sandwiched between two sata connectors.

I have no idea how the card mother usdt is put out, but according to the specifications, there is a port.

Still, that does not mean that your SSD will work, but at least you can plug and know.

  • Update card XW6200

I have a XW6200 renovated with a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 285 128 MB DDR PCI Express video card.

It is, I have no idea what it means, and what other graphics card my computer can take.

I have 6 GB of RAM and processors 2x3.2ghz. What good graphics card could use that is appropriate for the game? I don't really want to spend over £40-50

    Can someone help me?

Also, I have a few slots below my graphics card, and I don't know what they are for, they are not for the RAM, can I have more than one graphics card or something?

(I bet I sounds like a good shower!)

This card would do the trick. You might do some research to make sure that it would treat the games you want to throw at it. This could be done by comparing the minimum and the configuration of the game that your system might have with this recommended installed card. Your system is now integrated video which means that it is integrated with the motherboard. You should be able to simply start to use the new installation card and connect the monitor to it and that there should be no interference from the integrated card. There is a small chance that the integrated card should be disabled in BIOS, but generally is not necessary in my experience.

Yes, you need not the VGA port if you have something of better quality. Any port is better VGA at the bottom of the quality range.

I missed the caption in my first post, but I have included the legend at the bottom of this message.

The black hole that is not in line with the rest is the graphics card slot. It is number 11 on the schema. The housing labeled as 12 below are just the old standard of PCI slots that are in the process, if it isn't already, progressively. Slot 13 in the diagram is a PCI express x 8 slot. It is also used for expansion cards, but not for graphics cards. I personally had a need for the x 8 slot in daily use.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask and I'll do my best to get a response.

  • SATA dvd - RW drive to replace the old pata dvd - rw

    Hello world

I have a HP D530 SFF Pc with 4 GB of ram, XP SP3 with a LG dvd - rw burner. I am replacing the drive LG (his death) with a new Sony Optiarc burner. There are 3 links on the old LG writer (ide, power and analog) and the new author of Sony has 2 (sata and sata data power). What I need to know, is how can I connect the new device to the computer?   Which would also be a good graphics card to the top grade for this pc?

Thank you all in advance for any help and advice.

You are the very welcome, Chris:

Here is a picture of a motherboard very d530 SFF. SATA data connectors are these 2 small black objects near the button battery. The yellow reset CMOS button is between them.

  • XPS 2710 boot sometimes

    Hello world...

I'm with a very big problem with my computer, it does not start, I see that the black screen without any DELL logo but fans and all seems fine, I removed everything from the motherboard and check it several times, even, I also changed the CMOS battery and I did the procedure clear CMOS many times without good result.

But, sometimes, the boot computer right after I pressed F2 several times and then it restarts and works, unfortunately, when I restart the computer and wait a few minutes, the problem shows once again and start everything from scratch, is really difficult to start again. This happens only three times a week mysteriously.

I also tried to boot from a device of booteable BACK USB with BIOS A12 and Rufus, but it seems that nothing works. I can't just let my computer disappear with combat: (...) So I read a lot here, but nothing really works. You have an idea why this might happen?

PD, sorry for my English, I'm doing my best to write this :)

As I told you via private message, thank you for your concern, but I solved by myself yesterday, it was really a headache but I fixed it.

    I did this:

1 disable any on CMOS with the tipicall procedure

    1. Unplug it from the external power source.
    2. Remove the computer cover and locate the CMOS button battery
    3. Remove or disconnect battery
    4. Press the power button for at least 10 seconds for any residual power to drain system
    5. Re-insert or re - connect the button battery

2 clear the NVRAM and BIOS memory

    1. Turn off the computer and unplug the power cable from the electrical outlet.
    2. Locate the connector 2 pin password (PSWD) on the system board.
    3. Remove the jumper plug 2 pins and move it to the 2 - pins left top
    4. Locate the CMOS (RTCRST) 2 pins on the system board jumper (I got two jumpers on the left down corner)
    5. Remove the two rider 2-pin plug and move it to the 2 - pins left top
    6. Connect power cable to the system and wait 10 seconds for the CMOS to clear.
    7. Move both 2 jumper pins to the original position.
    8. Move jumper 2 pins near the CMOS battery and plug it back to its original position when you do this, the PC starts in itself.
    9. Press boot F2 so you can access the BIOS, here I noticed that in my identified only PC 4 GB of RAM so it was installed 8GB, BIOS I changed the order of startup and preference so I can start from an existing device, and I disabled the safeboot.

    3. create a Bootable USB

    1. Download the Distribution Package diagnostic Dell (DDDP) at the following ADDRESS:
      http://ftp.us.Dell.com/DIAGS/CW1322A1.exe

      • The file download window will appear. Choose run to download the software.
      • A (UAC) user account control window may appear. Select Yes to continue the download process.
      • The Dell 32-bit diagnostic window appears. Select continue to progress.
      • Creating folder window appears. Select Ok to use the default folder.
      • Dell Diagnostics dialog box is displayed to indicate 'all files have been unzipped successfully ". Select OK to continue.

The menu main DDDP will appear. Close the window by clicking the X in the upper right.

    1. Navigate to the folder that DDDP was extracted to (the default location):
C:\Dell\Drivers\R174621) and select the DIAGS folder.
    1. Open the DIAGS directory and delete everything except the following:

      COMMAND.COM
      DELLBIO. BIN
      DELLRMK. BIN
      AUTOEXEC. BAT

    CONFIG. SYS
  • Insert a USB Flash drive.
  • Navigate to C:\Dell\Drivers\R174621\ and double-click the application DDDP
  • Run the DDDP utility and choose "install on a USB flash drive. This will make the USB bootable Flash drive.

  • Move your file BIOS.exe for USB
  • Save changes to BIOS, restart the system and the Dell logo, press on to access the start time Menu a.
  • Select the USB storage device to boot from the USB Flash drive.
  • The system will now start a command prompt and view C:\ >
  • 4 reflash the BIOS from a USB bootable

    1. The system boots to a Diag C:\ > guest
    2. Run the file by typing the full name, for example O9010A12.exe and press return.
    3. In this case, my bios has been updated to the latest version, but it has been altered, so I did an additional command to force the installation of the BIOS, I have done this by tipping the full filename with /forceit and the end of the command.
    4. You have to accept everything on the screen and later the computer restarts by itself, when everything was done, I finnally could see the DELL logo at startup and I could access the BIOS, whenever I want, so I restore all changes start on the BIOS and everything works really well

    5. enjoy!

Finally, if you upgraded your system to Windows 10 install all drivers and enjoy your new computer. I'm so happy, finally I got my computer from the dead.

  • Computer laptop Alienware 17 would not start

    Hello

I had this problem twice now. I was on my laptop and it should work fine ALL day and then I would stop for the night. When I wake up and try to turn on, it would do nothing for most, but sometimes he would light up for about a second or two and goes off. Both times I solved this in re-allocation of places the battery CMOS/button. Although I have solved this problem on my own, it is still VERY upsetting. Why the * does this continue to happen?

The first time it happened, I had just installed the latest version of the BIOS and rebooted and it worked 100%. Is that I turned it off for the night and it did not work the next morning. I followed the instructions on how to install the latest BIOS very closely and I did twice previously without a problem at all!

The second time it had happened was yesterday when I had just updated the card Wifi and a few other minor drivers through Device Manager. While I was still with my laptop, he turned to a BSOD - DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. When he did this, the speakers just makes a constant humming ceased after it began to restart. All I did was watch YouTube when this happened. And when he was trying to restart it froze on the Alienware logo. I waited about 15 minutes hoping it would move along, but he did not. I pressed the power button until it is turned off and then tried to restart it without success.

This morning, I completely disassembled to remove the main battery and the battery CMOS/button.

WHAT HAS CAUSED THIS? It seems to be whenever I update the drivers. I always update from the Dell website on the page where I get my serial number under "Drivers and downloads", or through the Device Manager. What is a bad piece of hardware? Software conflict? Please, please help me this end for good.

    Hi Glenn,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Important: Change BIOS / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

I recommend you contact the manufacturer of the PC for the procedure for making changes in the BIOS.

  • Windows 7 64 bit without Audio problem - completely lost and incredibly frustrated.

So, I moved my computer from one room to the other.  Hung, played a game in the evening and went to bed (SOUND WORKED).

When I woke up the monitor was to a black screen ("sleep" mode is disabled).  I turned the PC then next turn, no determination, the monitor would not show a picture.

So I moved the video card in a different PCI-e slot, and then again.  No chance to be.

Once I swapped to another monitor, everything was fine.  I presume that this monitor has gone wrong.  It's a problem for another day.

So now that I see him, I'm going to play my game and realize that there is no sound.  Nothing works on my audio embedded. Headset speakers.

    * Motherboard: ASRock Extreme 4 970 / drivers: Realtek *.

The only thing that seems to work is the microphone on my webcam... But I can't hear to be sure.  But the volume bars tell me it is.

I checked to make sure that nothing is cut.  When I play an audio file, the green bars.  So I re - install the current Realtek drivers (I've lost count how many times).

Then double-check to make sure that the edge is enabled in the BIOS and nothing is contradictory.  I even tried to disable all the others.

I plugged my speakers into my cell phone to make sure that they have always worked.  There, all right.

I gave up after HOURS of fiddling with everything I could muster and finally decided that I would just buy a cheap good sound card.

Brought it home, plugged into the slot PCI opened and turned on the PC.  When I tried to install the disk drivers.  The software was telling me "Install ADAPTER!"  So now I guess the slot's problems.  So I plug it into the second PCI slot.

This time, he moved as he should, and everything in Windows shows perfect.  Card installed, drivers updated (even had more up-to-date on the manufacturers Web site) and it's default value under playback devices.  I also disabled onboard sound in the BIOS.

Same thing now... Green bars when audio is played.  But still no sound.  I continue with my diagnosis and do pretty much everything that I would be done before... Just again with this new map.  I even called their phone support after I almost pulled my hair.  We both came to the conclusion that it must be a bad card. How could a whole separate device no work as well?

I figured that a little, but he returns for the same product.  House of Ran, plugged (drivers were still installed), same problem.  So no audio with edge and no audio with two separate sound cards.

SO now I'm at my last option that I can find. I decide I'll try a USB card.  I think this has to work.  Well I installed it, Windows automatically configure the drivers.  All installed correctly.  I rebooted, cross my fingers and played the sound test windows.

    NO SOUND!

I'm driving myself crazy about it.  I would like to just re - install if I could find my disc.  Even if I do I would take days or longer to put up everything as it was.

I found the subject that says:

"net localgroup administrators / add networkservice.
    Press enter, and then type:
net localgroup administrators / add localservice
    Press enter, and then type:
    output
"Press on enter, and then restart your computer.

When I came across it, I thought it should be.  There is nothing else that would create.  But still no luck.

The only other thing crossed my mind today, is that my Board can go wrong.  But how could he just stop all audio sources. ???  I could see just the edge goes wrong.  But allowing NO AUDIO?

I'm sorry for this hike, but I thought that what I did should be explained.

Thanks a bunch for reading, and and help, advice, etc. is greatly appreciated!

    Brandon.

    Problem solved.

I played with him more as a last futile attempt before joining Micro Center to buy a new motherboard.

I press the motherboards power button and then the reset cmos button after.  He started to Windows and blasted startup sound. :)

The edge still audio is not working.  But it does not work with the PCI card, so I'll just be happy with that.

I would like to know what caused it, or why it works now.  But I won't focus on it.  Simply happy to have my sound back!

Thanks a lot for the answers.  It's very kind of you to try to help out me.

  • PC Pavilion laptop: no sound on Pavilion g6 after installing the new battery CMOS

I have a Pavilion g6z - 1 d 00 CTO Notebook PC, model A2F43AV number.  It came with Windows 7 Home Premium, and I upgraded the operating system to Windows 7 Pro (64 bit).

The problem is that I did not sound, either through headphones or the speakers even if the Volume is set at 55. I first noticed the audio problem after replacing the CMOS battery, as the laptop is 4 years old and he gave me intermittent wireless connectivity problems.  After installing the new battery CMOS, I noticed the wireless driver was missing and downloaded/installed.  Everything was fine except the audio.  Then I reset the BIOS but nothing there as the BIOS version is v.49, and it is the most recent.

I have also downloaded/installed the driver audio and rebooted the PC.  Still, there is no noise.

Finally, I have checked the audio drivers and the reporting system they work without any problem.

    What should I do next?

    Thanks, Terry

    Thanks for the reply,

I was under the impression that these links would take you to guide step by step, however, it seems that they do not work,

However, I have provided details below:

To perform a hard reset on a computer equipped with a removable battery, follow these steps:

    1. Turn off the computer.

    2. Remove the computer from the docking station or port replicator.

    3. Disconnect all external devices from devices such as USB, external displays storage devices and printers.

    4. Disconnect the power adapter from the computer.

    5. Remove the battery from the compartment to batteries.

    6. Press and hold button power for about 15 seconds, remove any residual electric charge capacitors that protect memory.

    7. Insert the battery and plug the power adapter into the laptop, but do not connect peripheral devices.

    8. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

    9. If a boot menu appears, use the arrow keys to select start Windows normally and then press the Enter key.

    10. After you have reconnected each peripheral device, run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all device drivers.

To perform a hard reset on a computer equipped with a sealed or non-removable battery, follow these steps:

    1. Turn off the computer.

    2. Remove the computer from the docking station or port replicator.

    3. Disconnect all external devices from devices such as USB, external displays storage devices and printers.

    4. Disconnect the power adapter from the computer.
