I want to update the bios of my Tecra 8100.
I downloaded the bios, but the pc has no floppy, I cooked up a cd bootable like this

When I start the pc, F2, press c to boot from the CD-ROM, I get in a dos environment. I went to the drive Z, "dir" and see the bios.exe that I've burned to cd. To run it I type bios.exe and continue to be 'command unrecognized file name' when I type dir *.exe, he does not see the file either.

    Hello

Your described method does not apply to Toshiba laptops.
Each computer laptop manufacturers supports various BIOS update procedures

    Toshiba on this page we:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/downloadDetail.jsp?soID=356848&PF=true
Here you can download the latest version of the BIOS for Tecra 8100

The 4810.25 package must be unpacked everything first.
Then you should check the files available.
There is a readme.txt file that describes how to update BIOS using the ISO to CD.

  • Cannot access a Web site, but can ping IP addresses on the internet

-With the help of Vista SP2 64-bit on laptop faulty.

-Number of computers on the same network have access to the internet.

-Tried several network interfaces on this laptop, but no luck for access to the network, wired or wireless

-From this notebook, I can ping addresses Internet IP so the problem seems to be the side DNS.

-Flushing DNS cache and reset the network interface.

    -Rebooted several times.

    What did I miss?

    Thanks in advance

    Hey easternguy,.

Check if you can test the Web site by name.

    To do this:

    a. Click Start and type cmd.

    b. press ENTER.

    c. type the following command:

    ping hostname

Ping uses name resolution to resolve a computer by IP address name. Therefore, if you successfully ping the IP address but you cannot ping a computer name, there is a problem with host name resolution, and no network connectivity.

Case 1: If you can not ping the Web site using its address, follow these steps.

In this case, try changing your host file.

In the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc Hosts files may be damaged or corrupted.

Review the contents of your HOSTS file and compare it to the screenshot below. There is no need to worry about any line that starts with a # is ignored by Windows. In addition, the line "127.0.0.1 localhost" can be ignored without risk, because it is a standard input.

Everything that appears in your HOSTS file without a # earlier this year, aside from the "127.0.0.1 localhost" line, should be regarded with suspicion when we try to diagnose the cause of the problem. The fastest way to test the involvement of HOSTS file is to just rename the host file. By changing the name of the HOSTS file, prevent us Internet Explorer to use it and so all problems caused by the file.

    Case 2:

If you can ping external websites by IP address and name, but can't browse the web, probably your browser is misconfigured.

Check that you do not have an incorrect Proxy Server affected necessary or not.

For Internet Explorer, follow these steps.

    a. open Internet Explorer.

    b. go to Tools / Internet Options.

    c. click on the Connections tab.

    d. click the LAN Settings button.

"e. uncheck both" "automatically detect settings" and "use a proxy server for your LAN '.

    This should be it.

    Kind regards

  • Impossible to ping by hostname

    Original title: "network Bug.

I have a home network of 2 laptops and a desktop computer.  They are all on the same network and the working group. I followed these steps.

1 ping the loopback address to verify that TCP/IP is installed and configured correctly on the local computer. To do this, type the following command:

    Ping 127.0.0.1

If the loopback test fails, the IP stack is not responding. This problem may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:

the o TCP drivers are corrupted.

o the network adapter does not work.

o another service is interfering with IP.

    2. ping the IP address of the local computer to verify that the computer was successfully added to the network. If the routing table is correct, this procedure transfers just the packet to the loopback address 127.0.0.1. To do this, type the following command:

IP address of host local ping

If the loopback test succeeds but you cannot ping the local IP address, there may be a problem with the routing table or the network adapter driver.

    3. ping the IP address of the default gateway to verify that the default gateway is functioning and that you can communicate with a local host on the local network. To do this, type the following command:

    default gateway ping IP address

If the ping fails, you have a problem with the network adapter, the router device or gateway, cabling, or other connectivity equipment.

    4. ping the IP address of a remote host to verify that you can communicate through a router. To do this, type the following command:

the IP address of the host remote ping

If the ping command fails, the remote host may not be responding, or there may be a problem with the hardware of network between computers. To exclude a host remote does not respond, use Ping again to a different remote host.

    5. ping the host name of a remote host to verify that you can resolve a remote host name. To do this, type the following command:

Ping the host name of the remote host.

got it all except for the ping by host name.  Help...

I had this same problem and finally resolved.  In my router config page, I noticed that there is an entry "local domain name.  That has been fixed to "Belkin" and the help text says that having a value is optional, but there is no reason to change this value, so I've always left alone.

I noticed that when I put in the host name, it adds ".» Belkin"for the name and then say he could not find the host.  So I made this entry blank.  Reboot the router.  Immediately, my hostname looks worked.

As suspects, it also allowed me to access other computers in my workgroup.  They appeared, but when I would try to use them, I received the error "network location is not found."  Once I removed the Domain Local name, everything worked fine.

  • Satellite P200-1BA - Internet browser activity stops

    Hello
I have a big problem with internet activity on a WLAN connection.

    Configuration:
    Model: Satellite P200-1BA.
System: Vista Home Premium OEM with SP1 and the latest updates.
    Browsers: Mozilla Firefox, IE, Safari.
    Router: FRITZ Box 7050.
    Communicators: Skype, Gadu-gadu

    Description of the problem:

After starting system - access WIRELESS Internet start automatically to the next step commumicators start.
When I opened one of my internet browsers - I can work with this browser only 5 to 20 minutes. After this time, my browser activity stops.

I can't use any other browser - web pages load. But - commmunicator Gadu-Gadu - still work correctly.
I can start & stop communicator activity several times - and communicator is still OK.

But not the browser - browser is hung up.
I have to reboot the system,-c' is the only way I can reuse my browser and see all www pages.
    I know that:

-J tested dns - writtening IP adres field in browser - does nt work
-There are various ports 80-browsers, 8080 (?) communicator - maybe vista is blocking all ports?
-in command mode - ping adres - without problems
-in command mode ipconfig / renew - without effects
-different toshiba - with windows XP - working properly and correctly
-the e-mail program (outlook) does not work correctly
-reinstallation of vista - problem is back

    Help, please.

    Hello

You use the WiFi network, but have you noticed the same thing using the LAN?

According to your assignment, applications such as e-mail and Skype chat automatically load in the bottom of the BONE.
In your case I would test if IE and other browsers would hang without usig and loading gadu gadu and Skype.

Also if this problem appears only using the WiFi network then you need to update the WLan driver and should also check if the BIOS is updated.

Sorry for this frugal proposal but as you probably know, it's not really easy to tell what causes this strange problem

    Welcome them

  • Internet problems after installing vista SP2

I'm running IE8 and yesterday I installed Vista Service Pack 2.  After the installation, I got an internet connection, but could not access all pages including my home page.  The pages would hang and the little blue circle would go round and round and nothing happened.  I also have Firefox downloaded on my computer, and still the same thing happens again.

I checked my system tools in the lower right of the desktop and my icon for connectivity internet local and internet had a red cross on it that has not changed.  I restarted my computer several times and nothing has changed.  I used the prompt commands and ping google (my homepage) and found within seconds, so the connection was there but not able to access all pages.

I am running Vista Home Premium as my 32-bit operating system.

To cure the problem so far, I did system restore and completely got rid of the installation.  As soon as I did, my internet was totally fine with IE8 and Firefox.

Any suggestions, I won't install SP2 again until I know what has caused the problem of the internet, and he was healed.

    Hi Smokeycat,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Windows Vista Answers.

Since you have already restored the computer and the internet works fine, try to reinstall the stand-alone version of Service pack 2. Later, try to connect to the Internet.

You have security software installed on the computer? If so, try disabling the security software and install the stand-alone version of service pack 2.

Try to install the stand-alone package for Windows Vista Service pack 2, access the link below and download the file to the desktop. Later, run the installation of Service pack 2 from the office.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=a4dd31d5-F907-4406-9012-a5c3199ea2b3&displaylang=en

If the problem persists after you have installed the stand alone package, reply came back with the details:

    1. try to boot into safe mode with network after installation of Service pack 2 and try to access Internet
    2. in normal mode, try to right click on the network icon in the taskbar and click on diagnose and repair, if it gives any error make a note of it and we gives the error.
3 - is wireless to a wired connection?
    4. do you have any router installed?

    I hope this helps.

  • HP LaserJet 2300n suddenly in offline mode

At work, I have a HP LaserJet 2300n printer that worked perfectly for years. It has a wired connection to our router and has a static IP address outside our range of DHCP. When I arrived to work yesterday, he inexplicably left communicate with all of our computers. When I go to the Printers folder in Control Panel of the printer appears but says 'offline '. The printer will not print jobs sent by all desktop computers deal. The printer is displayed a "Ready" message, but when I print the configuration page, the network (EIO 1 slot) said 'Empty'. This is the port on which I plug the Ethernet cable. The EIO card is actually in place and provided with the printer already installed. This is the HP DirectJet 615n. I read through many forums and tried any other difficulty, including restarting the router, unchecking "SNMP" in the configuration of the port and reinstall drivers. I used the command line ping the IP address of the printer, and the response has been 'Destination host unreachable.'

I think I could solve the problem by replacing the EIO card. Everyone knows this replacement is done? Is this a common problem?

I had to order the part and updates once I tried this fix.

I fixed it! It's the network card. I removed the old one, inserted the new one and the printer has been assigned to a new IP address, what I added to all desktop computers.

    Thanks anyway!

I would recommend to anyone with this problem:

    (1) first try, the obvious things as drivers, adding the printer again, by unchecking the checkbox SNMP under the port configuration and so on.

    (2) if it does not, check if the printer has a card EIO/network installed.

    (3) if so, print a configuration page. If the card EIO slot is 'Empty' depending on the printer, replace it.

I installed the version better in our printer. It came with a HP jetdirect 615n, and I replaced it with a HP jetdirect 620n. I hope that we will see many more useful years of this printer.

  • LasetJet M4555 MFP: 221 ftp port and how to disable

We have a HP M4555 MFP printer that accepts ftp connections on port 221 anoymous and I can't figure out how to make it stop.  This raises red flags with our network security scanner, so would like to know how I can disable this feature.  We have all other than 9100 off printing protocols (including FTP printing), but this one printer always listens to the port 221.  Interestingly, we have 2 printers of the same model and only 1 done this and, as far as I know, they have identical configs.  However, whoever's doing this has rev firmware 3.7, and the one that is not is still the 3.5.1 then perhaps that it is a feature added to the new rev?

I can't say how much of a security problem is real, but it makes me very nervous that I can get in places like/Customer/Jobs/StoredJobs without any authentication at all.

    Anyone have any ideas?

For personal service, give a name like "port221". Select TCP. Choose ' printer/multifunction Service '. Choose a specific local port. Enter the port 221. Choose "Any" to remote port. A new service is created. Select it and click OK. You return to the page of service strategy. Click on the newly created service 'port221 '. Click "next". Choose the action "Drop." Click "next". • Internet disconnects after 5 minutes

Hi I was using my PC for a long time. I went for the weekend, and when I came back, I got a problem.  Every 5 minutes or so internet stops working.  There is no notification that a cable has been disconnected.  When I type something in the address bar it keeps loading but the page never comes to the top.  It is not my hardware or ISP because I started another operating system (fedora) and it worked fine. A temporary solution that I use is to disconnect and reconnect the eithernet cable.  But then the problem occurs again in 5 minutes.

    Things I've tried:
    1. disable internet card
    2. set a static ip address
    3. release ip/renew ip
    4 uninstall internet card
    5. restart the router

    Hi AppleWilliam,

Thanks for posting. The first thing we must do is to determine where the issue is in fact. This could be a problem with a piece of hardware, Internet Explorer, Windows or your ISP.

First when the problem occurs again do the following.

    Type the following command:

IPCONFIG/ALL [Note that there is no space between the oblique and ALL bar].

Right-click in the command window and choose select all, and then press enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

In the same command prompt window, identify the DNS and gateway (it will look something like ... default gateway: 192.168.1.1 and DNS servers...: 192.168.100.54 )

Now in black comand prompt, type the following command:

PING 192.168.1.1 (by replacing your IP of the gateway here) [Note that there is no space between the oblique and ALL bar]
Let us know if you get the response or timeouts.

Also again once in the same window type the following command

PING 192.168.100.54 (by replacing your DNS IP here) [Note that there is no space between the oblique and ALL bar]
Let us know if you get the response or timeouts.

If the answer then you can have a problem with your web browser. If you are using and other Web browsers with test and see if you have the same result.

If you do not get a response, test with another computer if possible to see if the problem persists there. If the problem does not occur on the other PC, then check your network cable connected to the PC and see if there is a link light. If there is a clear link then try to replace the cable and see if the problem persists.  If the problem persists after replacing the cable with a known good work. If the problem persists with a good cable to work known so try another port on the router or switch.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if any of these steps did or did not solve your problem.

  • Network problems when mixed with computers based XP - Win 7 computer help?

My network functions end when all computers are based on XP, but when a computer is Windows 7 wireless I discovered only two of three computers. There is no other variables.

    Hello

Try the methods provided below and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

This problem occurs if the (LLTD) link layer topology discovery Responder component is not installed on the Windows XP computer.

In order to establish the connection between the windows 7 machine and the Windows XP machine, try to download and install the patch Link-Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD). Click on the link below:

Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) responder (KB922120)

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4F01A31D-EE46-481e-BA11-37F485FA34EA&displaylang=en

    Method 2:

Try the steps in the link below for the network of home computers running different versions of Windows

Networking of computers running different versions of Windows

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/networking-home-computers-running-different-versions-of-Windows

    Method 3:

Ping the loopback address to verify that TCP/IP is installed and configured correctly on the local computer. To do this, type the following command:

    Ping 127.0.0.1

If the loopback test fails, the IP stack is not responding. This problem may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:

    ·         The TCP drivers are corrupted.

    ·         The network adapter does not work.

    ·         Another service is interfering with IP.

  • Listed unknown network device

Two unknown devices appear on my player network as 'EXPTRACKINGPC '.

These network devices are automatically added as part of the Windows Media Player sharing features? The first one above is protected by password and I can't access the file. I don't like sharing media through Windows Media Player, how can I get rid of them?... .or is that a hack program that somehow got installed despite my security measures that have been taken? I can't find anything on the web dealing with these devices. Thank you

It looks like another computer on the network.  You could probably open a command and ping the PC name to see what IP address it has.  Perhaps even then go to your router and disconnect them from your network.

Some ISP problems (configuration errors) can also make your neighbor computers appear in your network.

    Hi SALEH5139,

Since when are you facing this problem? Have you made the last changes made to the operating system or added a new software or hardware?

I recommend you to uninstall and reinstall the network adapter, do the following steps:

    1. click on start, in the start search box, type Device Manager and then press ENTER.

    2. in Device Manager, look for the network adapter in the list of devices.

    3. right click on the network adapter, and then click Uninstall.

    4. once it is uninstalled, restart the computer.

Once you restart the computer, the network card is installed automatically.

    Check network connectivity.

If the steps above do not work, try ping a few websites and chec if you have connectivity, to do this follow the steps below:

    1. connect to the Internet, click Start, click Run, type the command, and then click OK. Vista users should not run.

Note: If this command does not work, try typing cmd.

    2. at the command prompt, type ping www.cnet.com, and then press ENTER.

Note: If the ping succeeds, at least one of the four race packets sent is received from the destination server to and you will see text that is similar to the following at the command prompt:

    Packets: Sent = 4, received = 4, lost = 0 (0% loss)

Note: If the command in step 2 successfully returns at least one of the four packages, you don't have to perform step 3. Only test ping to step 3, if the step 2 ping test fails.

3 repeat the steps in method 2 using the following two commands until you receive at least a successful ping test, or until you have used the following two commands:

    Ping www.yahoo.com

  • WRE54G v3 no SSID

So I have a WRE54G v3 and a BEFW11S4 v2 with the latest firmware. I got the Repeater related to the router wireless with WEP at the same time.

I can access the Repeater through the router (not connected) but does not display the SSID of the Repeater. The SSID broadcast option is on in the repetition and the router. They have the same SSID and are on the same channel.

I can see the SSID using a scanner WiFi SSID, but it does not appear in the windows wifi scanner. My PSP is also the expander control.

Are you able to see you wireless network name, when you search for networks wireless in range of your router? If yes then you can try to connect to your wireless network, connect once and then open the window prompt commands and ping the IP of the Expander and check if you are able to get an answer, if yes, then your expander works very well.

You will not be able to see your Extender because the name of your network wireless router and expander control is the same, so it will show you 1 single wireless network.
