Compaq Presario DVD/CD drive not recognized after upgrade to 8.1 Windows

Hello, I recently updated my SR5601UK to Windows 8.1, and he ceased to recognize the CD-ROM drive in Windows.

The last disc it read was the 8.1 upgrade disk.

I checked the power and data cables and the two are connected, Bios, recognizes that I checked for upper and lower buffers in the registry and there is nothing to remove.

No CD/DVD drive is listed in the section 'Devices & readers' on 'This PC' or in 'Device Manager '.

The powers of disc when a disc is inserted, but nothing appears on the screen.

I can only find drivers/firmware on the site HP for XP, Vista and 7, but nothing for 8, so cannot say if it is a firmware/driver problem.

HP Web site says spec of the car but not the manufacturer, so I had trouble finding the update.

Hello:

See if the resolution steps 2, 3, 4 or 5 solves the problem.

One usually does.

  • RE: Compaq Presario 732US, NIC does not work after upgrade to Windows XP SP3

Yes, it's an old.  Compaq Presario 732US - care.  <>

OK reformatted to give to my sister.  Had to manually installed Windows XP SP2 because the verson reformat is so update the old windows would not work with her.  After graduating on windows, update was very well and made a 140 update article.  Installed everything fine.  restarted and did windows update again and it came with SP3, which has installed fine.  EXCEPT after restarting, my network card went caput.  Said my ethernet is unplugged little matter what I do.

So I unplug and put in another computer without touching anything and it works fine.  So the problem is with the Compaq Presario 732US.  I guess that I need drivers compatible with Windows XP SP3.

Any idea where I can get them for such an old laptop?  Which ones to get? If I should take off just SP3 and not to date him? And if the pilots there was even the answer?

Thank you in advance to any of you out there who can help meh.  :-)

Try to use Device Manager, right-click the network card and choose uninstall. Restart the laptop to see if XP can install a working driver.

My in-laws improved to win 10 of Win 7 on their s5220f of HP.  Given that upgrade the CD/dvd drive is no longer working or is recogniozed by the computer.  It is not in the list of devices in the Device Manager either.  When you insert a disc turns but obliously that nothing happens, and the drive is not visible in the file Explorer window.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Here's what I found the solution:

It worked to fix my Windows 10 system. Note This mentions 32 bits, but it worked for my Windows 64-bit 10. This was taken from http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03280768

Resolution 5: Create a registry subkey
Note to use this method, you must be logged on to Windows as an administrator. If you need help, check that you are an administrator, go to http://support.microsoft.com/gp/admin
Important follow the steps described in this section carefully. Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you edit, back up the registry to restore in case of problems.
To create the registry subkey, follow these steps:
Press the Windows logo key + R to open the run. (or right click on the windows down icon to the left)
Type regedit in the run box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow
In the navigation pane, locate the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi
Right-click atapi, point to new, and then click key.
    Type Controller0 and press ENTER.
Right-click Controller0, point to new, and then click DWORD(32-bit) value.
    Type EnumDevice1 and press ENTER.
    Right-click EnumDevice1, click on change...
Type 1 in the value data box, and then click OK.
    Exit Registry Editor.

    Restart the computer

  • Pavilion p6210t: CD/DVD HP Pavilion p6210t drive is not recognized after upgrade Windows 10

HP Pavilion p6210t DVD/CD drive is not recognized after the upgrade to Windows.  DVD/CD material is: LightScribe16XmaxDVD + / R/RWSuperMultidrv.  I can't find an updated driver for this device, download and install. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Thank you for your response.  I can't find somewhere - it now despite a lot of research - I read on a very simple solution to this problem which is (was) affecting hundreds of users HP.  In essence, the solution said that the DVD drive has in fact been recognized [as evidenced by his appearance in the BIOS] but has been "identified" and how to fix this problem was to go into the DEVICE MANAGER and delete the incorrect identification reference - then restart the computer and Windows 10 would correctly identify the DVD player and correctly in the DEVICE MANAGER list.  I decided to try this simple fix before one of the more complex solutions that were offered.  The simple solutioon worked!

Have a double microphone 16 X 8 DVD/CD RW advantage which is not recognized by XP Professional.  Also have a CD unit and when windows installs the drivers - it gives them both the same driver.  DVD RW is only recognized as a CD! Have used Microsoft fixit and he says everything is fine. -It uses the same driver for CD and DVD RW units.

    d. in the Edit menu, click on delete.

    e. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

    j. restart the computer.

Note: If you notice a loss of functionality in a particular program as in the CD recording software after you remove registry UpperFilters and LowerFilters values, reinstall this software. If this problem continues, contact the supplier of software to help.

I know that the drive is compatible, because in the past, I ran these discs very on my computer. I tried the blank CD, DVD, bought CD + DVD, burned CD + DVD and they all produce the same result: nothing happens. When I right click on my drive and select the option 'Explorer', an empty window temporarily opens and closes. When I double-click on the drive, nothing happens. What seems to be a particular thing about my situation, is that when I try and restart my computer the problem persists, however when I turned my computer off and then turn it back on the player sometimes will work for a short period before the previous problem back to the top.

    Help would be VERY appreciated.

Thanks for your time, but I realized that the problem was with a program that I recently installed. I ended up uninstalling and then by removing any trace of her that I could find on my computer. After restarting, my CD/DVD drive appear to have begun to function properly again and I don't run in my previous problem again so far. Once again, thank you for taking the time to try to help me. The effort is appreciated.

Seagate has say the drivers are pre installed in windows. convenience stores never work - I find the trouble shooters are almost always useless - is this just me?

It works on my laptop of friends - so im guessing it is the operating system reinstalled - what I do?

    Hello Neil,.

First of all, we apologize for the late response.

    1. What happens, do not install the updates?

  • Tecra S3: SATA hard drive not recognized after XP updates

Windows has recently completed an automatic update on a Tecra S3 equipped with a 60 GB HARD drive SATA.
After the reboot required for updaates windows generates a BSOD.

I've traced the error and found that the system can not find the hard drive.
Even when I use the XP cd and restore/repair console without a hard drive is located.

When I check the BIOS hard drive is there.
I removed the hard drive and used an external case and determined that the hard drive works fine.

    Hello

    Tecra S3 supports RAID.
In order to install Win XP RAID driver is needed!

The RAID driver can be found on the European driver Toshiba page.
    It s a v 1.01.0005 for Win XP.

You can include the RAID driver using nLite. This free tool allows you to include the RAID driver in the Win XP disc.
Google for nLite for more details.

  • G570 bluetooth not recognized after update to 8.1 windows

This is a very unusual problem, and I have not found one post on this anywhere!

First of all my specifications specifications

    Lenovo G570 (reference number: 43345JU)

    i5 - 2410M

    8 GB RAM

    Qualcomm-Atheros AR9285 WLAN

do not know the brand of bluetooth (for most broadcomm)

    Provided with Win7 Home premium x 64

The Win7 it came with also had lenovo energy management through which I could toggle the WIFI and bluetooth on and outside. Given that I've never used the bluetooth, I turned it off via Power Mgmt.

Interestingly, when I was running Win7 I also had this dual boot with Ubuntu. And if my Bluetooth has been disabled through the win7... EM bluetooth wouldn't be recognized in ubuntu and there was no way to turn it back on... I had to start again under win7 and turn it on via EM and start in ubuntu.

Recently, I updated to Win8.1 but had not put on the bluetooth before doing so. In Win8.1 bluetooth device is not recognized everywhere... no PC settings (metro UI), not even in Device Manager. I tried to install the energy management to 8.1 from the support site, but he was extremely buggy and found no option to activate bluetooth. The old EM has not installed correctly in comaptibilty mode.

In ubuntu now (dual boot with win8.1) its still the same. Bluetooth not regonised just like before.

I can't go back to win7 now. There is no correct EM to win8.1. There is no option in the BIOS about bluetooth.

How can I activate the bluetooth adapter? ANY help is appreciated...

    Hi neokenchi,

Please help out me. Yes, I had tried to install win7 EM but trotted in compatibility problems. But now started digging through the forums and found a link to EM that works on win 8 and 8.1 of victory. It has even installed the power controller driver virtual lenovo APCI.

  • Audio clips mp4 not recognized after upgrade to CC 2015.1

Just upgraded to CC 2015.1 on a Windows 7 Pro workstation. A former CC 2015 project file opened yesterday, received an error message about missing a missing MultibandCompressorCore.dll, saved as CC 2015_1, did a few editig, seems ok, and smooth. But today many clips are offline, when I repeat the tracks audio and audio clips are not recognized (screenshot). When I simply import the clips of same, there is also no audio what either is. When I check under change clip audio channels are grayed out. When I play the clips via Quicktime or Windows Media Player all sounds is there. I'm lost in the darkness, silence, please help.

Exact same file on another workstation (with the same characteristics). One with and one without sound? Import the same video in After Effects and Audion works like a charm, the fable is there. What I'm missing here? A first adjustment?

    Schermafdruk 2015-12-02 14.33.43.png

I had the same problem. What I've done. 1 / I chose all mp4 files in Windows Explorer. 2 / I created a new folder very close to the original (s) 3 / I moved the clips (without the cfa and so on...) for the new records. 4 / premiere Pro will be automatically "relocate" the missing clips when you reopen the project. And now, they have audio too. I hope this will help.
