Comparison of dual Xeon systems - worth the price difference?

I am looking at two different processors and ask about them.

I consider dual Intel® Xeon® Processor-E5-2699 v4 (22 hearts to 2.2 GHz) and double Intel® Xeon® Processor-E5-2687W v4 (12 cores at 3.0 GHz).

The total overall GHz is no longer with the 44 base against the system of 24 base system, but the core clock speed is significantly higher in the 24 base 44 core system vs System.

That would be better - faster speed single or more overall GHz? What's a better way to playback and editing of speed compared to the other for rendering/encoding/export?

Your E5-2699 v4 with option 22 carrots (total 44 hearts and 88 discussions) is a loser as first is limited by Microsoft to 64 threads software so the second processor must be turned off or hyperthreading diasbled

  • Inspiron All in one is worth the price!

I use rounds so far, but now, I am planning to buy Dell Inspiron All in one PC. I just want to know if it's worth the price? Or should I buy Dell XPS 8300? Are there important issues that I need to know before you buy all in one PC?

    Any comments will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

By looking at the manual Dell HERE looks like the all-in-one is basically a "laptop with a separate keyboard and best video.  Thus, it is no much you can put at level as a standard PC of type "office".

You want to add/edit components at some point, you are better with the 8300.

  • Quality battery - why the price difference?

It's time to get a new battery for my trusty Qosmio G30. The price range seems huge - on the Toshiba site, it's £94 exc VAT, but there are other sites selling batteries 'nine' at £38 inc VAT.

My question is, all batteries are the same? A £38 battery will last as long as a £96 a - what's the catch?

    Hello

You are right. On the market there are batteries for laptops offered and the price range is pretty huge. For example, on eBay, you can buy battery for laptop that costs half the price in regular stores.

I noticed that these batteries don't have Toshiba name printed on the label, but the format is the same. In general, they are same, but if the quality is the same is another question. To be honest I have good experience with these cheap batteries and I use them on my mobile phone and cam.

The same story is with cars. If you buy some part by authorized partner, they will be more expensive as offered by some independent stores. According to me, you know why.

In my opinion, you can buy and use this less expensive battery. Maybe life will not be as long as with battery original, but you will save money. Maybe in a year, you want to buy new Qosmio. ;)

  • Fusion drive vs 7200 RPM HARD drive, it is worth the difference in price?

I have the beginning 2009 24 "clocked at 2.66 GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo w/4 GB memory.  I have 86 GB of capacity, 83 GB available on my hard drive but I get these days, turn the beach balls, delayed typing, and 5-6 min restarts (if it does not crash).

(1): I started in recovery mode, run Disk Utility first aid on the three volumes that I configured and also to perform first aid on my external HD backup and time Machine external HD to ensure that those to external systems were functioning properly.  They are.

    (2) I ran Disk Warrior on all volumes and Cocktail on bootable disks.

So... is probably time to let decision-making in early 2009 iMac.  Looking at the new, I wonder if the 27 "1 TB drive merger is worth the difference in price of the 1 TB 7200 RPM HARD drive?  I only do the usual things: mail, loading some photos (about 12 000 photos in iPhoto), web searches, etc.  No big, heavy use.

It the additional sum of $200. Fusion drive worth it?

    For this purpose? N °

  • Workstation HP Z620 dual xeon: really only 1 6-pin power connector on the graphics card?

    Hello

I have a question about the HP Z620 workstation.

recently bought a dual xeon with 960 GTX installed on the 6-pin connector.

as I can't find any other power to use nor on the power connector

or nowhere on the set, I wonder how a graphics card must be powered only

    needs

    1 x 8-pin

    or

    1 x 8-pin + 6 pins

    or

    2 x 8 pin?

I know there are some discussions about this in this forum, but I did not understand

the solution. Some said there are adapters to go 6-pin to 8 pin (or 6pin to 2x8pin)?

    But how is that possible?

like many, I know, 75 watts are max of the pci-e connection, 75 other watts Max for 1x6pin.

so plug any adapter, 1x6pin for graphics cards that need much more power would be

According to the standard / danger, right?

and what about graphical installation double?

would be happy if someone around could help me with this.

    best regards

    Chris

The search box on this page by default search only this forum, and it is very convenient.  If you type "extra", you will find a lot of info.

The Z620 has two of these 6-pin cable, and HP got creative and molded into two empty containers down to the black plastic fan holder before.  So, one is being used by you and the second is sitting there plugged and similar, it is used, but it is stored just it did nothing... the fan is powered differently.

These extra HP 6 - pin PCIe power cables are not standard ATX... they are better.  The ATX standard is 75 watts can go up to the card out of the slot, and another 75 watts can come via the additional 6-pin cable.  HP 6-pin cable can do a bit more.

This is the message that you want to read, and there there details that were not in any of the HP manuals that I searched through, but the answer was on the label of Z620 power supply.  12V 18A each, plus adding info on some special HP adapters that allow you to take a HP 6-pin and divided to two 6-pin connectors or cable HP 6-pin connector 8 pins.  Watch here.

  • I'm curious what is the email to inquire about the price range for the license for operating systems?

I want to buy a Win 7 license. And wish to enquire prices for multiple licenses. I think buying a license 2 or 3 depending on the price range. I bought my Windows 7 through Amazon. And I'm looking for Win 7 license price but could not find a link to the Web page to inquire and buy a. I could demand more, but unfortunately is not for related businesses but for personal use. I like to custom build my own PC, because I don't see many advantages to a generic brand because some parts of the component of the PC is not what I'm looking for. I'm kind of giving detailed information, because I want someone to have the best idea of what type of license I may need.

Thanks for the reply in advance.

I thought that I found my solution... Andre thanks for trying to help.

  • Reference Dell sc1495 dual Xeon 3.0Ghz cannot install x 64 guest OS

I have a x 64 dual Xeon 3.0 Ghz processors with 16 GB of RAM. I need to install both server guests OpenSuse 10.3 x 64 because it will consolidate two of my machines into one. I get a nice little message from Installer app saying I use a 32-bit hardware. I made sure the BIOS EM64T reports. Just for fun, I have tried to run the Intall in Windows Server 2008 x 64, same message "trying to install 64 bit on 32-bit operating system". Is there a possible setting that I missed setting to the top of my host ESXi 4 or are my processors just not compatiable with ESXi 4?

  • Dual Xeon 6-core editing Workstation (criticism/Suggestions)

    Hello

I was responsible for assembling or buying a new video editing station capable of injesting HD uncompressed glad of our studio 3 photo, "sweetening" (correction of color, audio settings, etc.), grouping in pre-made and made on several broadcast formats [b] in less than 12 hours [b] animations and 2D graphics.  The system would normally only be dealing with only one live stream (dial-up).  Content length is 40 minutes to 1 hour.

I want to order the parts for this system on Friday. My budget ceiling (for hardware) is 5000 USD (I am currently $ 50 on).  I don't 'plan' to overclock (I don't own the test bench), but could review six months out or almost (once the system worked stable for awhile).

    ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
I'm a little worried about the compatibility of the heatsink of heat/mobo/processor/carton.   Also looking for ways to cut without compromising the above calendar.  I spent a bit of time to research on these pieces.  I'm looking at those more warned for pointer on all conflicts, as well as any "Hey, you forgot X." Other component suggestions are also welcome, but wave 'their best' reasoning carry no weight.

    OTHER EQUIPMENT on site:
Blackmagic Multibridge Pro (for interfacing with studio) PCI-E x 4 break out box
16 TB (max, currently 2 TB mirrored) NAS for archiving of video media (connected via dual-port ethernet10/100/1000)
Multiple monitors to NTSC calibrated CRT and large format LCD control

    Thank you in advance,

    Jim G

    A couple of notes:

    • I have not yet selected a heat sink.  Unlike the Xeons, I believe the i7s come with a storage unit but I probably want an active receiver.

    Noctua NH - D14.

    • I'm debating between the above discs and these 1 TB Samsung Spinpoints which seem to be the default suggestion and are a little cheaper ($80 vs 100 $US).  Thoughts on 6 GB vs 3Gb sata connection or 32 MB vs 64 MB cache?

Samsung Spinpoints have fewer problems with raid, due the WDTLER utility configurations that Caviar Balcks come with.

    • I couldn't bite the bullet on ram 6x4Go. $ 1200 USD (for a stick of six corresponding defined as prejudice suggested) it costs 3 times more than 6x2Go.

24GO is really expensive, and I have the same feelings as you. I would stick with 12 for now.

    • Some reviews say that this motherboard spacing is tight, especially when you try to fill all memory and pci 16 x slot machines.  Is the kind of thing that I have a hard time to visualize well so if there's someone who likes / is good verification of clearances do not hesitate.  The additional component only would be an adapter pci x 4 for our BlackMagic Multibridge which is just an adapter external slot.

Here are some pictures of my systems as well as the intestines, so you can judge for yourself if is is a tight fit. Mind you, my system is filled with 17 discs HARD and two burners for BR.

14 discs at the front and 3 in the back.

Additional 25 cm in the side panel fan.

    Sufficient margin to 6 sticks.

    No problem with space.

NVIDIA GTX 480 and Areca ARC-1680-iX-12 installed, with an extra fan on the power supply for the additional cooling of the two cards PCIe.

Only a limited some of my discs (there are 14 of them closely mounted) and no problem with temperatures. But I have fans for each disk cage.

  • E-mail and calendar will not connect on a dual monitor system.

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, mid-2012) running on Yosemite 10.10.5.  I currently have a system of dual monitor hooked up with an Acer monitor (version: AL1916W Abd ~ Jan. 2008).  When I use this monitor as Desktop 2 and move my apps to email and calendar to this office, I suddenly find that mail will not receive any new messages very well and the calendar will often lose the connection and does not update to mobile.  I thought maybe of interference on the WiFi, but Google Chrome runs on the desktop at the same speed as on my laptop.  Perhaps it is still a form of interference, but I don't know what is the cause or how to fix it.  Perhaps the monitor is too old and now is not compatible with my operating system?  The monitor is connected with a VGA XAVIER to converter Thunderbolt and a VGA cable normal VGA.

The internet I use is the internet at the University where I work, so reset the router or something like that is not an option.  Help?

  • Buying a T520 is screen FHD is worth the extra $ $ 200

IM buying a T520 in the coming days. My hobby is photography and I change a lot in LR and Psalm I seeks to exceed my budget and get a screen FHD instead of HD +. Can someone give me feedback, it is worth the extra $ $ 200.

If you plan to work with LR and PS FHD has an additional value of 200.

You can downgrade the other components such as HDD, video graphics card, no card WWAN, to offset the price of the screen.

You can update other components in the future, but you can't go to the screen.

  • Update Windows XP SP3 on a Dual Boot System w/Vista

Hello, I have a partition of windows xp and windows vista in my laptop Acer. (Pre-installed Vista and XP as a secondary operating system).
    My questions are:

    > Is it OK to upgrade Windows XP SP2 to SP3 of Windows even, it is placed in a dual boot?
    > Don't install SP3 will be erase all content of Windows XP?
    > Is affected the partition of Windows Vista if I download Windows XP SP3 of XP SP2 Partition?
    > If I download the SP3 for Windows XP in the Microsoft.com site, it needs to be bootable and recorded in a CD or just run the installer from the hard disk automatically after installation?

    Thanks to all in advance!

You're off topic of the Forum, you have published, which is dedicated to the beta Version of Microsoft Security Esentials

However, I moved the yoru post.

You can update to SP3 on a system XPSP2 dual boot Vista residence. You can not install XP * after * Vista for a Dual Boot system unless you use a 3rd Boot Manager part.
Run the update to SP3 does not erase anything, it updates the XP system components.
There will be no impact to your Vista installation on your system to dual-boot PC.
SP3 is an update. It downloads an installation program analyzes your installation of XP and downloads the bits necessary to update to SP3 then install them after you have saved the files it will replace. You should be able to get SP3 easily by going to Windows Update in XP.

  • Windows XP does not start in a dual-boot system

I have a Windows XP and Linux Mint 10 Julia on separate partitions in a dual boot system. Windows has been installed first, followed by Linux. Initially, the two worked, then, for some reason any I had to reinstall Linux. Now I can't get into Windows.
I can't enter the recovery by using the Windows CD Mode if that helps.
    GIA

booting from cd is not always the best way to start an operating system installed on disk 0, for example drive C.

Yes, the default value for fixboot will always be the first drive to the motherboard, regardless of how many additional hard disks are installed.  It is the way windows is designed to be.  but in all fairness, you can start windows via a USB key with recent technology created by hp.com

also, if the disk check found a few errors then it means that there are corrupt or missing files.

so, at the command prompt go ahead and Run fixmbr, fixboot, bootcfg /rebuild and a chkdsk/r

You can also type help at the command prompt to get the details of the above.

  • No its w/WinXP Pro (Dual-boot system)

I have 4 computer Pentium Gateway w/WinXP Pro and motherboard that has never worked for her so I added a sound card and that worked. Then a friend added a dual-boot system (Ubuntu) and installed the drivers that showed me that the sound of the motherboard works with Ubuntu/Linux, but not for XP. Now I'm stuck change between MB & sound card. How to do his job on my MB with XP? Thank you.

You still have a problem the appliance in msinfo32?

What the Manager device, is it still show something in the other devices section?

Remove the card from its complement and distributed to msinfo32/Device Manager and see if the problem is still there.

When you reported it as an E-4100, was it of msinfo32 or from another source, such as a label on the case?

There is a "Download hardware detection' link on the page of the gateway I provided above, what happens if you try to update material from this link?

You can also try Windows Update as a last resort.
