Continue with the remaining steps to pin-point on the third party service. After find you the program that is causing the problem, you will have to perhaps to update or install a newer version of the program, if you rarely use that you should consider uninstalling the software.

If you have any type of antivirus, cleaning or ANY other third party maintenance application installed, please find the developers instructions and uninstall. At best, these types of applications are 100% useless and at worst they cause more harm (similar to what you are experiencing) than good.

If you don't have one of these types of applications installed, run a report of EtreCheckof your system. We then look for obvious problems. Please click on the link, download the application and run the report. Once you have the report, please copy and paste into your response to this post.

If you would like more information on what is EtreCheck, just click on the link and you will find a description of the application.

  • Since the Thunderbird 38.0 update my computer crashes whenever I start Thunderbird. CAUSE: the sounds associated with a new message notification?

I am able to use it in Windows safe mode but that is awkward. My computer works fine in normal mode as long as I do not open Thunderbird. Is it possible to go back to the old configuration of Thunderbird. I love the program but it is not very good like that. I tried running Thunderbird in its safe mode by pressing the SHIFT key, when I started to Thunderbird, but it came not in safe mode and the computer froze.

I had this problem too. He has not happened since I disabled the new message alerts (not only sounds, but the popup and tray icon). It was freezing at startup only when there are new messages so he could get when I started upward. At least one of the freezes have shown the popup in part drawn on the screen, until all of the computer does not meet all, but hold the power button.

rcharlie, I think your problem is different. I helped someone a few hours ago with similar symptoms where helped to disable alerts. And then, we determined that alerts could be activated IF we have disabled hardware acceleration to tools | options | Advanced | in general.

rcharlie, what it do work for you?

Yes. Or rather, the test message, I sent with hardware accel disabled and alert activated has not crashed the computer. Will update if it crashes again.

  • TV connected via the VGA input to HDMI don't get no signal after preparing the Windows message, works fine in safe mode

Original title: PC to tv connection / VGA to HDMI

    Hello
I hope someone out there can help. I recently bought a new samsung TV after that my old one failed. My new TV doesn't have a RGB port to connect a VGA cable to so I can use my PC as my old one done, it has HDMI and my PC only output VGA. I bought a VGA Converter HDMI to maplin and when I start my PC the image appears on my TV because it goes through its startup upward. It displays windows prepares, but then the Windows point would open normally, the signal on my TV dies and it does is display the message no signal on the screen. If I start thr PC in safe mode, windows starts very well and the signal does not go down. I use windows 7. Someone knows how to fix?
    Thank you

It is possible that your computer is trying to send a resolution & frequency to which the TV cannot manage.  I suspect that this is because the image is displayed when starting, but then disappears when Windows takes control - until Windows takes over, the resolution sent will be below.

You should consult the manual of the TV to its specifications.  Mine, for example, just a a simple table of resolutions & combinations of vertical frequency it can handle.  Then look at the Control Panel, display, change display settings to see what your computer can produce and choose one that fits these two machines.  If the best resolution display settings don't work then go to the next best resolution [or in the setting of 640 x 480 to see which works best].

Once configured, Windows will display the setting chosen at the television screen every time so you will not have to keep setting up for each session.

Each time that you connect the TV you can use the Windows key + P key combination to toggle the display.

I don't know if you want the TV an extended desktop or a single view.  You might find, as I did, that the TV can use a higher resolution output if it is the only view.  I suspect that this is a result of capacity of the computer's display adapter because it has less work to do if there is only one required both display.

Once you put in place, you may find that control panel display settings, display, change, advanced has useful additional parameters, but you'd probably need to have a good guide to help with your graphics card make any sense of the options available.

If that is not enough then I suggest that you try to find an online forum for your TV, hoping that someone has done what you are trying to do.

    Good luck

  • laptop stops shortly after the start, but works well in safe mode / command after chkdk or ckdsk/r

Problem 1: There are months, my two year old Toshiba Satellite L655 s5096 started losing charge the battery even when it is plugged.
Sometimes, the problem was solved by using a different wall outlet. I replaced the battery, but eventually the problem comes back.

Problem 2: at the same time that the problems loading starts, Windows has stopped booting normally. Sometimes repair or restoration leads to a normal start, but sometimes I run Chkdsk/r (Chkdsk sometimes the only works [!]) Mode through safe mode w/Command Prompt.

Problem 3: There are two days of problems 1 and 2 reappeared, but a few minutes after that Windows starts, my machine stops, even if I am able to run Wndows in Mode safe mode w/network.

I am correct in surmising that this isn't a motherboard (hardware) problem? I don't really want to have to replace this machine if I don't have to. Is this a Windows problem? Upgrade to Windows 8 would solve the problem? Or is it the result of the virus that escaped my Avast scans?

I'll install Windows 8 when I checked my automatic online data storage works.

    Hi Denise,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forum.

I understand that the computer shuts down shortly after starting. I'll help you with this problem.

    1. what security software is installed?

    2. are you sure the workload problem is not limited to a faulty wall unit?

    3. have you checked with the manufacturer of the computer if it is not a battery problem?

To resolve this issue, let us try these methods:

    Method 1.

You can create a new power plan and check if that helps.

Power plans: frequently asked questions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows7/power-plans-frequently-asked-questions

    Method 2.

    Keep the battery power: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows7/conserving-battery-power

    Method 3.

You can remove the battery and connect the power cable from the wall cabinet and check. If the computer does not stop after the restart, then it might be a problem with the battery.

  • System Restore won't work, drives available: HP (C :) (Missing)?) Left click on the mouse also stops randomly works, works fine in safe mode.

My computer is upward, slow-running and my mouse will just randomly stop left click. I can switch the service so click right not left click function, but then cannot do the right click function. I had created a restore point before installing a program called Cain and Abel on my computer and it was just a couple of days.

When I tried to do a restore, I got a message saying I needed turn the system restore. Then my computer froze so I restarted it and selected "System Recovery" and tried to do a restore to the point that I had created before that Cain has been installed. I got a message saying that the restoration has failed then I restarted mode without failure. When I restarted in safe mode, both left and right click was working again but I got a message saying that something has been altered (I didn't write it down so you do not know what it was). He says to run CHKDSK, which I did and then the computer seemed to work again.

This is temporary, I lost my left click again and now have swung it for do the right click, left click is supposed to do, but really need to be able to do both types of clicks.

I go in to the restoration of the system, and it says I need to turn it on. When I go into system properties to turn on, the disc I want to activate to says "HP (C :) (Missing)) ' what this means and how do I do the restore point I have created 2 days ago from work?

  • Computer woks fine in safe mode, but completely stops in normal mode after 15 seconds

    SP2 of Windows 7

My computer works fine in Safe Mode but when I go to Normal mode the windows on the screen comes up but after about 15 seconds the computer will completely completely OFF as if I turned it off. Any help would be appreciated...

This looks like a temperature problem.  Go to http://www.download.com and download Speedfan.  It will show you the internal time.  If they are all under 50 degrees C, you're OK, if they are over 65, that's your problem, between watching the bears.

Another possibility is a virus or corrupted system files.  Get your updated antivirus program, and then run a full system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

    -

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

    -

Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

    `

When you get your system in good working condition, I invite you to back up your system up to an external hard drive and make it regular periodic updates.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

  • Windows Vista hangs after choosing the identity of the connection. works well in safe mode

I was able to start windows in safe mode, and then create a new connection profile.  However, Windows doesn't always starts normally.  Using the original profile causes the screen to go black after the "Welcome" screen  Using the new profile causes the screen to go to blue after the Welcome screen.  It's a laptop with nothing fixed.  everything seems to work fine in safe mode, so I think it's a matter of profile.  There is no restore points, so I can't use system restore.  Any thoughts?

  • Skype crashing whenever I start it.

After that I updated to Skype to the newest one, it crashes whenever I start it. I tried to look for further discussions on this forum and tried like 50 different things (IE cleaning, decommissioning, IE, etc etc) now the problem is, Skype 6.14 works fine for me, but in general, the next time I start my PC it auto updated Skype 7.0.0.102 and it works fine, does not crash but my MAIN problem is I can't join some calls because it says I need to put updated my Skype. How in the world I am supposed to "update" my Skype and use it when I can't even it starts without it crashing? It's super annoying, and I can't solve this problem, though even I tried many different methods of fixing that apparently worked for other people, but has not worked for me. The error I get is:

Name of the failing application: Skype.exe, version: 7.21.0.100, time stamp: 0x56d5f4c5

Update on, and that includes also the update of the operating system and drivers

You can also do a check of the system files:

Start > Search > cmd > righclick cmd run as admin > sfc/scannow (leave running until the end and hope that all errors are recovrable)

(if Windows 8.1 or 10, just rightclick start for admin cd shell).

  • PC crashes whenever I start to clicking on my mouse

my pc will freeze for 5-6 hours once I have start clicking on my mouse. for example I click on the start of my pc screen, and then the pc just hangs up a few hours later. Hi Darren,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I can imagine the disadvantages suffered by you and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem.
However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. You get an error message at startup or when the PC freezes? If Yes, what is the exact error message?
    2. You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?
    3. The problem only occurs when you have problems of overheating?
    4. The problem happens specifically when operations involve use of graphics heavy (for example, watching HD videos, games etc.)?

According to your description, the issue might have arisen because of changes in Windows 8.1 introduced to treatment of entry for interaction scenarios low latency of the mouse. Thus, the system sometimes meets the mouse inputs differently in Windows 8.1. Other important motives associated with third party software conflicts or a strong possibility of infection by the virus.

In order to diagnose and troubleshoot the root cause, I suggest trying the following steps and check if they are useful.

    Method 1:

I suggest you to start the system to check the possibility of a third party service/program or a driver causing the problem. Safe mode is a diagnostic mode in which you are connected with only the minimal necessary services and active pilots. See the following link for assistance.

Start settings for Windows (including safe mode)

If the issue is not reproduced, then try to start the system in a selective startup (boot) to exclude the possibility of a third part software conflict.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: See "how to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to prepare the computer to start as usual after a repair.

However, if the problem is persistent in the mode of clean, unlike safe mode boot, then I suggest you to turn off the graphics card in safe mode and start normally to verify the issue.

    a. boot in safe mode.

    b. press "Windows + X".

    c. click on "Device Manager".

    d. expand "Graphics cards" and right-click on the device driver.

    e. click "disable".

    f. restart your system normally.

If the problem does not recur as you maybe update the graphics card or check compatibility of the manufacturer. You can see the steps above to enter the Device Manager and update the graphics card in normal mode.

    Download and install the drivers

If the problem persists, try the following method.

    Method 2:

Infection by the virus could be a possible cause of the problem. So you can run the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is free of infections:
    Microsoft safety scanner

Note: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Also, try steps additional provided in the following link and check if the problem persists.

8.1 Windows, Windows 8 or Windows 7 hangs or freezes

Disclaimer : Data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss during the virus scan.

If the problem persists, I suggest you to provide the following information:

    a. on the desktop, you can open the Action Center under the taskbar > maintenance > view reliability history > view all reported issues

    b. right click on some of the mistakes "Stopped working" "Windows Explorer" > view technical details (there is a 'Copy to Clipboard' link at the bottom)

    c. Paste the information, including details of errors in a Notepad and then copy the Notepad information to post here.

Hope this information is useful. Let us know if you need more help, we will be happy to help you.

  • Why some games and other programs need to be "run as Administrator" mode in 7RC which worked fine in normal mode on 7 beta and vista?

Why some games and other programs must be run in Admin mode in 7RC which worked fine in normal mode on 7 beta and vista?

An example of this is the game Guild Wars (www.guildwars.com). I had problems with this with random programs.

    cbello57,
Run as administrator may be required for some games and programs because they have a permission structure different in Vista in Windows 7 (Windows 7 and Vista are different in how to manage certain permissions).

I suggest test you installation of the game in the program by clicking on the Setup file by clicking on "Run as administrator".

This will sometimes solve this kind of situation because it installed the program in a State of high permission.
