Computer do not close completely

Sometimes, when I turned off my computer, it is not completely closed.  It should go through the normal process and would then get stuck to the screen that says Shutting Down.  The screen does not appear to be frozen, as the cycle in the middle is still running.  I accidentally left my computer for one night because I thought I had shut down the computer completely, but the next day, I see that the computer is always stuck at the screen of closing down.  Happened three times now in about three weeks.  It would be appreciated if someone could help me with this problem.

Hello

Quite true that intermittent issues such as that are very difficult to find and fix.

Update your drivers and do not forget that your anti-virus settings are correct. Search for startup in conflict programs.
Suspect TrendMicro who is not known for its compatibility. You can remove it by using their
removal tools and special instructions to see if the problem resolves. You can use the MSE or Avast
as below during the test (and I would stick with one of them).

=======================================
Here's what I use and recommend:

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with everything I threw at them.
Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven very reliable and compatible.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except away from Standard, Web and network is working.

Prevx - Home - free

Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(Sometimes you have to temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom right of IE)

Avast - stop home - free - all shields you do no need except leave Standard, Web and network running.
(Double-click the blue icon - details look OK. - upper left Shields - those that you do not cancel).
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - Home - small, fast, exceptional CLOUD free protection, working with other security programs. It comes
a scan only, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something to come back here or use Google to see how to remove.
http://www.prevx.com/   <-->
http://info.prevx.com/downloadcsi.asp  <-->

PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever suspect malware, and that would be unusual with
Avast and Prevx running except a low occasional (not much), updated cookie and then run it as
a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system. For
each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver, description,.
version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - Device Manager - Display Adapter - note the brand and complete model of your
video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this
cannot do anything as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party with their
own the software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restoration) and then of the manufacturer of the device
(Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for the BIOS, Chipset and software)
updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - tab drivers version you install actually shows up. This
because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a
pilot - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW on device at the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER - manually check by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver in the Windows updates,
This leaves ONE of Windows updates, but it will not install the drivers who are generally older and cause
questions. If updates offers a new driver and then hide it (right click on it) and then go look for new ones
manually if you wish.

  • HP Pavilion Notebook 15-p119: HP Pavilion Notebook 15-p119 do not close completely

    Hello.

I checked the forum for this question, but the questions that other users have slightly vary from my problem.

My laptop: HP Pavilion Notebook 15-p119

I recently installed an official Windows 10 OS on the laptop (64 bit). It was fully installed from scratch.

Everything seems to work fine except for a very annoying problem: whenever I say the laptop shut down it proceeds to stop never totally as normal until the screen is blank (as is normal), the light on the power button turns on and the machine stops. It remains in this state until the battery sinks and dies. The only way to shut down the computer at this stage is to press the power button until it is difficult to stop. When you start the computer again, all right, and there is no bad effects of the hard stop down.

When he is in the State where the screen went blank and the indicator light remains on, it is not not clear if Windows is running or if Windows has closed, but the computer itself is still ongoing.

    Appreciation,

Windows 8 comes with diagnostic tools very good - if you have not had previous experiences, their execution, this is probably a time familiarizing yourself with the Toolbox:

Laptop computers HP - test of hardware failures (Windows 8) - c03467259

The issuemight be if the system shutdown due to software, in other words, something in the environment of OS, then it might be in the BIOS (down a real operating system level) or in the material.

This does not mean you na not miss something in the operating system-, but there are tools to help you refine the hotbeds of tension of material possible and eliminate these in the list.

    What to do next?

If the extracted material - if you can't find the problem, if the problem is hardware, or if the question remains a mystery and you're ready to throw your computer out the window beautful - wait!

You didn't have the system very long if you're running Windows 8 on - call HP directly for assistance.  If the system experiences a hardware failure, the call earlier rather than later is better.  It will not very long to fix.

    Before you call HP:

Run the command "SFC/scannow" at startup or in Windows 8

    • Make sure all your drivers are up to date - they are, or you wouldn't ask for help - it's basic Admin 101.

Start by creating a place to which you can go back in case things do not work as you expect:

    Create a restore point

Install the software and drivers from the HP site

Go to the top of the page of the forum Support and drivers HP

    • If you are prompted, enter your country or region and
    • Enter your computer model information
    • Access to the software and drivers...
    • Enter your operating system from the menu drop-down...  Scroll to the bottom
    • Select the desired category Software - Solutions > driver - keyboard, mouse and input devices

NOTE: Download ONLY the concerned drivers and software for YOUR hardware - note that in the website you can find more than one kind of driver for more than one computer model - it's normal, but it does not mean that YOUR computer uses all proposed software.

    • Develop and decide if you need to install this package.
    • Make sure that you download and install only the latest versions of each driver or program.
    • Save the Setup *.exe appropriate on your computer package

NOTE name and location -likely the *.exe file to save to "downloads".

    • Install the software / driver installation package: If you have control of "Admin", you can highlight the package and "double-click" to install, if not right click, select "Run as Administrator" and install.

NOTE: sometimes there is a lot of information in the computer Web site.  Take a look at what's available and bookmark the page later.

  • Various problems of 64-bit Windows 7: Scheduler of tasks, computer do not close, sfc/scannow

    Hello

I have a Sony VAIO laptop, running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit (Home Premium 64-bit upgrade) that I had several problems with in the past months. I am considering a factory reset, but I'd rather not if possible. A few months ago, I solved a problem with the message of Bad Pool Header but that seems to be fixed to come up with the BSOD.

Now, occasionally when turn off my computer it crashes, with the fan accelerates sometimes slow down then again randomly. Later (I'm sure) she gets a BSOD and then stops. I did not see coming, I see either the next day with a message like "your computer has stopped unexpectedly" or sometimes I held the power button after becoming impatient.

Then I read an article on reliability monitor and is interested in what might happen, but it had not been updated since September 2013. I looked up why this could happen and discovered that I had to check for it in Task Scheduler. When I open the Task Scheduler I got an error saying that "the selected task"{0}"no longer exists. To see the common tasks, click on refresh. "When I click OK another message pops up saying"Task Scheduler is not available... ". "but when I click OK it shows the first error again.

On another question on this Web site (error message: the selected task "{0}" no longer exists...) I read that I might need to delete some tasks that may be missing. I haven't lived a large part of the list in the Microsoft\Windows folder, but I found that, so far, applications experience and Bluetooth have tasks that create problems. I don't know if I want to just delete these because do not know if they are useful when you work or what they do.

The last problem is when I run the sfc/scannow command prompt with administrator privileges in, he is able to find problems on my hard drive but is unable to correct. I discovered a way to run SFC in the command prompt in Windows Startup Repair (where I learned how). I ran sfc/scannow damaged = f:-/offwindir = f:\windows (drive letter was different) and he didn't show any problems on the drive and has not set the disk problems.

Sorry for the issues. Just didn't know if it would be better to start these issues separately.

    Thank you

    Zac

  • Photoshop CC will not close completely.

I have a new computer Windows 8.1 with CC on this subject. I'm trying to update by using the update of cloud. He goes by the movements of about 50% and then says something like "Photoshop CC is open and must be closed."  I rebooted, checked to see if it is open, off the virus protection and even checked the Temp folder where CC writes the Temp when it is open. Nothing helps.

I can not get the most recent update. Something is now open in the background. I have a third part Photoshop plugin that also wants to Photoshop to be closed during the installation and it gives the same error.

Have you tried to restart the computer before the update?   I find also that I need rund the Desktop Application manager as an administrator.  My system 8.1 is much more picky about the CC update my Win 7 system, and I find that I have to give him all the help I can.

  • Items 11 does not close completely down in Windows

    I am running Windows 7 64 bit.

I have the evaluation version of the operation of 11 parts and he will buy at the end of the trial.

However, when I close the program, there are pieces of always running in the background.  When I start the Task Manager and go in the process, I see parts of items 11 always running in the background.

Normally, I wouldn't worry about it, but when I go back the and try running the program again, she hangs up.  I have to restart my computer or go into Manager tasks and try to close the process of Photoshop Elements.

    Any ideas?

Well, if this is the case, you can try one last thing. I guess this should solve the problem permanently-

PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe right click > properties > Compatibility tab

In the privilege level, select checkbox "Run this program as Administrator".

Let us know if that helps.

Your computer stops responding when you try to shut down in Windows XP

  • Computer do not close

Stays in "shutting down" mode indefinitely. Stopping manually with the computer.

Sometimes it helps to run CHKDSK C: /F in a command prompt. It will ask you if you want to run it at the next startup. Say Yes and restart the machine.

Maybe it's a corrupted profile. Try to create a new and see if it continues.
