Computer past BLACK. __

In normal mode, safe mode, the screen becomes black after the startup password is accepted.  In safe mode, the screen is black with 'safe mode', written in the four corners.  No response to key, but the mouse moves correctly. Using a boot disk causes the same behavior, and I can't go to the Task Manager or windows Explorer.
The computer was AVG and installed Microsoft updates last week and I reset the computer to an earlier date than updates, but no change in behavior.  (I used a boot disk)
Should I have any option other than a complete system of repair?

Hello

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If yes you can try Control Panel - device
Manager - graphics card - Double click on - driver tab - click on UPDATE driver - then right click
on devices and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure)
CTRL + ALT + DELETE and on the tab process EXPLORER.exe and COMPLETE the PROCESS on this subject - then
on the Applications tab - lower right - new task - type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is reached
by tapping F8 as you start several times.

First check this thread in case it is simple and if not to come back to this thread.

Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all patch is usually on a base hit or miss.
That there is no information on a black screen as it is on a blue screen just adds to the
Difficulty. Often using a restore point or Startup Repair will have no effect. You can try a
Google to see the proposed repairs, whom some have worked however these cover a wide
field efforts.

Here's a video of one of them.

Here's another fix

You have a Vista disk? You can try restoring the system to it. If you don't have the disks your
system manufacturer will sell them at low prices. Or try in safe mode if you can get there.

You can create a recovery disc or use someone even version (making the system restore it)
must be bootable).

These require the correct Vista discs since you can not start safe mode.

If necessary and you can access all ordinary Windows.

You can try an In-Place Upgrade (hopefully save programs and data) or a repair installation
(if all goes well, the data records and need to reinstall programs). Be sure to do a good backup or three.

You can use another DVD that aren't copy protected but you you need to own
Product key.

If nothing works, you can make a repair facility that must save the data but you will need to
Reinstall the programs. This also requires correct Vista disks especially for OEM versions. You will be
need to know your product Code.

  • (Redirected) 10 Windows Installer failed: no video display, screen, impossible to boot-to-use computer only black

    Hi all I recently upgraded from Dell s 660 Windows 8.1 for Windows 10 PC. That part went well, no problem.

    Then, I decided that I wanted to clean things up I did a Reset, delete all settings of Windows. This ultimately failed and I got an error message that the bootstrapper has been damaged. Computer would not boot successfully.

    OK, so I decided to do a clean install to solve this problem. See the Microsoft Web site and download a tool to create bootable USB stick with Windows 10 installation files

    Then I inserted the USB in the broken computer, restarted, and the installation begins without any problem. I got all the way to the screen where I choose which partition to install the OS on. I chose the right partition and clicked ok, then leaves the room for a few minutes. I came back and met with a black screen, but the computer still worked. I waited about 30 minutes, but there was no change, so I decided to restart.

    Given zero has not set the problem. The computer always starts and I see the hard drive activity light flashes from time to time, but I don't see anything on the screen. No DELL logo at the start as there were no past, no loading spinner, nothing... Pressing F8 does not seem to help, I can't get into the BIOS or anything. I tried with and without installation of Windows 10 bootable USB inserted, does not matter anyway the result is same - just a black screen.

    I guess it could be a hardware problem, but it feels like a very large chance that my error started to arrive for the 10 Windows Installer, so in my gut, I feel like this is probably a software problem, but I don't know. I've never had problems like that until the 10th of Windows Installer.

    I have tried both HDMI and VGA ports, nor work. It has integrated video, so these ports are directly on the motherboard. Any ideas on how to fix?

  • Start the computer to black screen and the computer runs hot

    original title: sick Vista laptop

    My daughter portable computer began acting strangely very yesterday.

    Once connected, I get a black screen and a cursor.  The system seems to work at full speed, because I can hear the fan, and it runs very hot.  No matter how long it sits, the desktop does not appear.

    I can use Ctrl-alt-del to display the Task Manager.  The list of processes is limited to the process of the current user, and none of them use important CPU. If I click on 'See the process for all users', taskmanager freezes and I have to disconnect to get rid of him.

    Using the Task Manager, I can kill the process Explorer and then start it again, date at which I get my desktop.  However, it is still running hot and noisy.  With the help of SysInternals ProcessExplorer, there is no process using any important CPU.  Most of the time CPU is reported as inactive.

    I don't know what to think.  A boot loader took over the system?  A hardware problem?  OS corrupted files?

    Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.

    Restore point:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

    Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Read the above for a very good graph shows how backward more than 5 days in the System Restore Points by checking the correct box.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
  • Screen is colored for about 3-4 seconds when I run vista and then past black and white after UPDATE 2/10
    I had automatic updates and at 03:00 it will download new updates whenever they come. I guess that 2/10 have been installed the updates that came out and when it automatically restarted my computer, everything was normal on the login screen, but once Windows started, 3-4 seconds and it went black and white. It is not my monitor or my video card, I tried 3 OTHER monitors on this and I own two myself. I need to restore both before the update was installed for my screen to return to the color... Anyone else having the same problem or knows what is happening or how to fix? Would appreciate the help. Thank you!
    Hey, Kelso,.
    There are a few things to try, that might turn back to normal settings.
    In display settings, try to change the option of colors up to medium (16 bit) and see if that makes a difference. Change to when. You can also change the resolution settngs. Sometimes just by changing the settings can fix the little quirks.
    Have you tried to update video card driver? If this isn't the case, that give a try. You can use the automatic update via the Device Manager, or just go on display card manufacturer's website and download the latest version of the driver.
    Hope that helps!
  • After playing the game the Sims 2, impossible to shut down the computer, get black screen
    Hi all
    I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and I recently installed the Sims 2 DVD Edition. The game itself works very well. He's not planting or lag or cause my computer is turned off. I can walk much and create characters; what I noticed is that some of the sound effects play, which is minimal.
    However, after playing the game and I'm going to shut my computer down, the screen just goes black and the computer stays on. The processor will run nothing will work. The computer just stays, but the screen remains black. He doesn't even go to the "shutting down" screen or anything. Straight black. I let it stay like that for 15 minutes just to see if maybe, it was just to take some time, but the computer still shuts.
    It normally stops if I do not play Sims 2.
  • Random computer screen Black-out / turn off.
    Hello
    first is my laptop: HP Pavilion dv6-6160se Entertainment Notebook
    the problem now
    A few days ago my laptop screen started off sudden shutting down/turn black (no lights at all). This was happening when using the laptop randomly. The screen had no lights, and if I use a flashlight on it there is nothing. like his turned to the wide completelly.
    Before that happens. THS behavior varies. Sometimes, she Shimmers from my office to a black screen then back on and sometimes not. Most of the time screen replaced by a green of radom (for most) and then goes black / shuts down.
    NOTE: The laptop keeps runing, I can hear the videos playing then it is probably not a chip gpu or problem gpu, music and games.
    I searched on the web for all sorts of reasons this could happen and tried a few fixes.
    Here's what I've tried and all or the details I could accumulate in Cup for days:
    1. If the screen flickers, turns off and then turns on I get a message that gpu drivers stopped working and valued (on amd and intel).
    2. If the screen turns off, on the rare occasions if you close the lid of the laptop and leave the laptop to go to sleep, when to wake up to the screen works again (noticeable because of the screen moving)
    3. I tried to install 4 different drivers, all with clear install. (did not work)
    4. I tried to recover the system with the restore point. (did not work)
    5. I tried to turn down the brightness of the screen. (did not work)
    6 tried this trick:
    1. Turn off the laptop
    2. Remove the battery
    3. Hold the power buttong for 30-45 seconds
    4. Plug the charger (do not put the battery in)
    5. Turn on the laptop and see if it works.
    Very sensitive details:
    7. given that on rare patches requires to move the lid I tried to shake the screen a little or by slightly pushing from different directions. Actually, this does the trick and back lights up the screen (I have right now typing this after using this 'trick')
    So, with this as a hint, there are a few things that I have in mind but I don't know and need help because I am not a technician.
    (a) there is a LCD cable and when I hit a small vibration upped it and ends in a black screen.
    (b) I have read that if you use a flashlight and you can't see your desktop he means that it is a bad converter.
    (c) the inverter can cause a cabe lose instead of the LCD?
    It's all the comments that I could give you that I remember now.
    Currecntly the screen seems ok (this is the angle of sure there once I moved it and I would aprecciate quick response until it goes black again so maybe)
    EDIT: Tried to play a game for a few minutes and I got the black screen again. Closed the lid and the laptop goes into mode 'sleep' then opened it and it worked. Just for the records.
    EDIT #2: Just tried to play a game again. got the blackscreen, shaked the screen a little bit and it worked, but for the 1st time that I get the message "the demand has been blocked access to the graphics hardware," it may be it's the GPU after all or drivers maybe?
    EDIT #3: Tried to replay a game and it seems to trigger the problem. (I am currently under the laptop with only drivers intel installed)
    Thanks in advance
    Sincerely,
    NTAS
    PS Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions, if you would like more information, I'm not a laptop expert, but I know more than the average
    Hi @Ntas
    I read in your post and it seems there are two possibilities, and I noticed that you have already tried several things that I would normally say.
    I will, however some of these links post anyway for you to review, it is still possible, there may be something in one of them that have been missed or can inspire an idea of the cause. Since you mentioned that sometimes simply move the screen will cause the problem or do disappear, that seems like a loose connection, or maybe something like a pressure on one part of the screen, causing the problem.  Of course, that last part may simply mean that the display is not to his last breath, but if all goes well.
    First I will give you a link for the service manual to help you control connections. Just be careful to read the sections on precautions, protect you and to prevent further damage. This manual is also useful in that it lists all compatible parts, so if the display is faulty you can use this guide to help control a compatible replacement if you choose to do so.   • I had a start of the computer, but black screen problem. Now resolved, but have a question.
    Hi, a question for the tech support.
    My solution ended up having to remove a faulty RAM stick. Fortunately, I had two, one of whom was a 2 GB key and that went wrong was 1 GB. Whenever this faulty stick has been in the laptop, the system wouldn't start.
    The problem is now resolved after removing the defective RAM 1 GB stick.
    In any case, I was wondering on a stick of RAM that turns bad in this way.
    First question is, how are they just bad like that?
    Second question, can they be fixed all or none of the trash can right RAM sticks after that?
    Hello feroxlara,
    I see that you have any questions about RAM, is that correct?
    The answer to your first question is that there are several things that can cause a memory stick to stop working or become defective. It may be overheating, overvoltage, problems with the RAM itself, problems with the slot in the motherboard memory is underway and many more. It is a component which may fail on any system.
    As far as being able to set the memory for the average person it is not likely, here is a link to an article on the repair of RAM. He explains what would be necessary to fix a memory module and in most cases, it is easier to buy a new stick of RAM.
