Connect a NPN sensor to a DIO

Using a USB-6221 (or any STD DAQ of DIO) and want to connect a NPN sensor to activate a vi.  It comes to replace switches mechanical existing finger for ergonomic reasons.  The new sensor is an optical switch, without contact.

Only vaguely familiar with transistor technology and don't know how to make connections.

The device I am using is detailed here: http://info.bannersalesforce.com/xpedio/groups/public/documents/literature/28436.pdf

This is the OTBVN6 model indicated in the upper left corner of page 2 of this document.

The unit requires a minimum of 10 Vcc so not sure what should I do to connect it to a DIO.

Thanks for any input

Doug

Hi Doug,.

You can use the attached schema to connect your device to a digital input. You can use the n.c. or n.o. output..

Resistance limits the maximum current to 10mA with a power of 10Vdc connected to Vcc. If you connect the 5V to your DAQ hardware for the connection of SCR, you can omit the zenerdiode.

  • Drive not work in IE and saying failed to connect with fingerprint sensor

    Hi all

I purchased a Qosmio x 500 10 t a couple of months back. For the first two weeks, I had no probs using the fingerprint reader to log on windows and connect to Web sites in Internet exploer.

All of a sudden it would not work on any website that is stored. The Green banner was shown in the upper part of the site and asked finger drag, but nothing happened when I slipped. I rebooted and it worked again but not for long before failing. This time a restart didn't work so I deleted my fingerprints and Web sites and started from scratch. It worked for a few attempts before probs started. And to try to enter the utility of fingerprint it says the connection of sensor failure. So, I did a system restore. He worked for some time yet and then same probs. So I found the update utility software, uninstalled the old and put on the new. Even once worked for a couple of times then failed.

I couldn't find anything about it is stuck in the registry but to be on the safe side I did a full system own return to the original using disks of backup configuration. Hey presto, I thought that he had worked. Everything goes ok for the first 24 hours and then same problems start to occur. Only this time it's also prompting me to register fingerprints even if I already have. And when I try to enter the utilioty it says cannot read the sensor again.

The fingerprints for windows log still works as long as I do not close the utility of fingerprinting before stopping. If I quit the utility I can't reopen it as it says failed to connect to the sensor only. And then I have to uninstall and reinstall the utility software. Aty at the time where he occasionally works on sites stored Web, but most of the time it does nothing.

Help, please. I have to return Toshiba laptop?

    Hello

This issue of the fingerprint has been described in another thread.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=81261

You should be able to solve the problem installing the chipset driver.
Another user said, an installation of Proset Ethernet drivers/software was necessary to get the problem resolved. But to be honest that I put t think that missing Proset utility would cause the question

    However, check it out.

  • Connect 3 wire sensor in correct way NI 9209

    Hello

I have several sensors of absolute pressure with only three wires (a common thread, an excitement + and signal output +). I enclose the form in pdf format. I need to connect about 6 of these sensors to my NI9209 card inside a cDAQ chassis. I also have a power supply of 24 VDC. I would like to ask about the proper connection if I want to use the differential voltage measurement.

Can I just wire the elements in the following way (left photo), or do I have to follow the recommended wiring as described in the manual on page 14, the part 'floating differential connections' ( http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/376909c.pdf ), right? Thank you!

    Edit:

If I have to use the resistance of 1 MOhm, is it enough to use a single resistor connected between the pin of the NI of COM map and all the pressure sensors COM ports?

You need to have the input of COM on the module HAVE referenced in your municipality.  However, if all your sensors are out of the ordinary even running, you need not the resistance of 1 M.  The only reason why neither mentions that this connection is for incoming signals not referenced to the commune.  Given that this sensor is only to give you a single output is completed, it would be much easier to just run the signal is broadcast to the module I and connect the COM to the power supply.  Otherwise, you basically jump the COM signal toward the low side of each measure and the reference measurement to COM in any case.

  • The Web of LabVIEW user interface directly to the sensor with Ethernet connection

    Hello

Is it possible to connect to the interface user Web of LabVIEW directly to a sensor with Ethernet connection?

    Hello

The only communication with other devices using the Web user interface designer is through web services, either motorized or not LabVIEW. To connect with a sensor with the generator of the user Web interface without using LabVIEW, the sensing device must be accessible via HTTP and give you a way to read its data using XML web services based on.

  • Connect to a 4215 sensor

Can someone tell me what I need to do to connect and configure the system IDS 4215 sensor.

When the system boots I have two options, Option "0" and "Option 1" option is taken, so I guess that his option 0. "» The system is Linux.

I am confused, I don't really know what to do, and there is no documentation showing what to do other than how to initialize the sensor, but it shows you how to connect in the sensor

    can anyone help

Once a sensor is started, you can connect via the console connx, browser, Web, or TELNET(if enabled), or SSH.

The connection of the console and TELNET/SSH are, of course, a command line interface. Use a web browser to https://, will allow you to connect in the IDM (IDS-Device Manager), a graphical interface to your sensor. The above assumes that you have a basic config on your sensor.

If you have installed only the operating system and are not yet connected, you need to:

    1 - Please enter username/password by default: cisco/cisco

    2-type "setup".

That's really all there is to it. The "setup" command will start a quick setup guide trained which will require you to assign a name, NPS, IP, gateway, etc., etc. of your sensor. Then, after a reboot, you should be able to access your sensor through the means I outlined in the first paragraph.

  • DIO with PCI-1424

Hello friends, I have a question because I need to know what I need to buy the equipment.

I have a PCI1424 with a camera of DALSA CA - D1 256bis acquisition card, it really works very well and fast.

But I need to trigger the acquisition of images with an optical sensor activation.

I have the optical sensor, and I can install the IMAQ software to wait for a signal in the RTSI bus launch acquisition.

    My question is:

Should what hardware I buy to connect the optical sensor (object in front of the sensor) signal into the computer?

I guess that some card DIO with RTSI bus, then I would plug the bus RTSI from the DIO card with the acquisition card RTSI bus to redirect the signal via the RTSI 1424 bus.

Should what hardware I buy that can redirect the signal from the sensor to the acquisition card 1424 RTSI bus?

    Thanks to you all.

    Frank

    Hi frank_1424

In fact, you can trigger the acquisition in the way you describe without buying anything at all.  1424 has four lines of triggering on the connector 100-pin.  If you look at page 3-2 of the Manual user , you can see that these are pins to 95-98.  You should be able to relax out of these lines.  If you do not want to dig your cable then yes a DIO card work for you.  If you can give me a little more information, I can make a recommendation for you.  What else could use you this card for in addition to any outbreak of your acquisition or is all that you can from the plug?

  • Doesn't have a heat sensor on MBP

I have a 2010 MBP 13 "2.4 GHz, 8 GB, with a new battery. However, the laptop absolutely not remains on unless it is connected to the power supply. RAM upgrades and battery are authentic Apple and works correctly. Is there more than one thermal sensor in a MBP? How are to replace?

There are about a dozen sensors. Most of them are inside other elements such as the processor and certified Apple RAM DIMM. There are some that can be on the radiators and other seemingly random places. There is also a release of rpm on each cooling fan.

A bad connection of a sensor cable can cause a sensor to read his minimum or maximum and so out of reach.

  • I can acquire a signal of 2 wire vibration or accelerometer sensor with a NEITHER-9208

    Hello

I have a vibration of 2-wire sensor, this sensor gives me a 4-20mA signal, 4 my = 0 ips or any vibrations present and 20 my shows the beach from the tip of vibration is present, my ips for this sensor range is 0 - 2.0 ips, initially, I had chosen the 9218 OR to set a connection IEPE, but this module have only 2 channels , so the NI 9208 has 16 channels, so my question is, can the NI 9208 acquire this signal without problem?

The 9208 is the correct unit to use. See the manual (fig3)?  How to connect the two sensor wire (loop). Need for an external power supply for this unit. For the min/max of the supply voltage, see the technical details of your sensor. (24V power is common, but it must meet the requirements of your sensor!)

  • How to use HX85BA sensors with NI DAQ system?

    Hello

I'm trying to connect two sensors of Omega HX85BA moisture to my NI DAQ system. The sensors detect moisture, barometric pressure, and temperature, using three 0 to 10 VDC positive outputs @ 10 mA or less, with a common thread of output. I have a SCXI-1000 chassis with two modules SCXI-1100 cards, 1102 b and a single 1102. Map of 1102 uses a block to connect SCXI-1303, while the other three cards use some 1300 years. The system will mainly use thermocouples for temperature measurements, but there will be other types of sensors, such as the two HX85BAs.

The manual of the product for the HX85BAs is not very clear on how to connect the sensor to the system. Terminal blocks each have 32 channels with the positive and the negative screw terminals, it doesn't connect three positive sensor outputs to individual channels, with the municipality of output connected to each channel? It will work installation with SCXI cards I have, or I will have to purchase different cards? The system will be expanded to include at least 4 cards in a separate chassis SCXI 1000 more, is not a problem for the purchase of different components to adapt to the HX85BAs.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi BBalmforth,

You can connect the sensor to the SCXI-1100 1300 TB. Connect the positive output of CH + and CH - CHSGND. Common output wire must be connected to GND.
