Connected to a public network - message from Norton

I noticed this as 'info' in my history of Norton Security. What is a security problem or a necessity for my OS to operate? If a subject of concern, can it be turned off or uninstalled?

Original title: "connected to a public network, (map of Teredo tunnel (: 0)).

Hi Chas,

I understand that you want to disable the view of connection to the public network.

Teredo tunnel card is an adapter that provides full Ipv6 connectivity for IPv6 compatible hosts who are on Internet Ipv4, but which have no native direct link on an IPv6 network.

It's a message to tell you that you are connected to a public network to keep your computer secure.

To disable this message or pop-up, I suggest you to contact Norton

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

Thank you

    Hello

Toshiba satellite L650 laptop computer (with windows 7 64-bit), I bought two days back and I'm unable to connect to the public network. Sometimes, it must be connected to the public network and after a few minutes it disconnects. I get the message "wireless network doesn't have a valid IP configuration him."

I have visited many forums and did everything, but of no use.

    1. people with disabilities the tcp/ip V6 of the registry.
    2. the DHCP is enabled. With the help of the automatic IP (DHCP)
    3. also tried with a static IP configuration.
    4. uninstalled the antivirus provided with laptop computer (Norton).
    5 disabled the windows firewall.
    6. restored to factory settings.

I called Toshiba Tech support as well and they have suggested that it may be a problem of H/W but I don't think that so that it can be hardware problem because sometimes he must be connected to the public network. Now I'm left with no option except return the laptop to Toshiba (I'm less interested in this because I know that sending laptop for replacement will be more frustrating).

Can someone please give some other suggestions for this problem?

    Hey,.

Can you connect to your home WIFI router correctly?

If you have problems with the public network connection, you should ask the owner of these networks. Usually, there is always a contact, you can ask if you have any problems with the connection.

What you can try is updated WLAN driver from Toshiba's official website:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

If it doesn't work, ask the person contact I mentioned.

    Hello Verashanley

    Since how long did begin?
You have added a new software or hardware to the system?
If the issue took place recently then you can try the system restore.
If you have recently added anything to the system (hardware or software), then remove.
If the system restore does not then check in Device Manager and verify that the network card is considered and no errors appear.
To open Device Manager, click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click performance and Maintenanceand then click System. In the hardware tab, click Device Manager.
Check the type of network card you have and that you try to update the drivers from the hardware manufactures Web site.
Also, check the connection for the network adapter. Do you see any physical damage. When you plug the NIC saw all the lights on the network card lights up? If not, then you can deal with a hardware problem and need to contact the manufacture of the system and see about obtaining the card replaced.
Let me know the results. Thank you.
  • Windows 8 user unable to connect to the public AT & T Wifi networks (McDonald's, Starbucks, FedEx desktop, etc.).

I searched here and I have not found anyone else with this issue, but I can't be the only one.

In the event that I am the first, my problem is that I can't connect to the public AT & T WiFi networks; McDonald, being the most common location.  It appears in the list of wireless networks, but it takes forever for the McDonald's to open web page in the box that says something like "Connect to the Internet" or words to that effect.  Finally after clicking this check box, a message appears at the bottom of the page indicating that the webpage is not responding; Click to refresh it.  No matter how many times I try it, nothing happens.

I have Windows 8 on a Toshiba Satellite.  It's a new laptop comes with Windows 8; No updates to otherwise than to buy this new laptop.

What is strange, is that I am on a WiFi network at the moment.  "Wandering WiFi" to be precise.  But I tried to get on AT & T at Starbucks earlier this evening and had the same success that I had at McDonald's.

I'm pretty sure that I don't mess with settings wireless on my pc but I can't say that for sure 100%.

Sorry to see that you are having problems. Please, try the following.

    Restart the device

Make sure that all the updates have been applied.

    • Open the network connections Panel
    • Select the network connection corresponding to either right click (mouse) or hold by selecting (finger).
    • A Context Menu will appear. Please Select forgotten network.
    • After the network connection is dropped, please reconnect.

If that solves the problem then great! If this is not the case, let know us and we will try something else.

  • I have an Airport Express, which gives an unexpected error message when you try to connect to an existing network of WEP.  Any ideas.  Tried the factory returned. He was knocked offline when someone dug into the telco cables.

I have an Airport Express, which gives an unexpected error message when you try to connect to a router WEP (Verizon) existing iOS9.3.2

It flashes orange, but can not be reconnected to the router or to the title of the Setup Assistant or Airport utility.  Is there a way to reconnect to WIFI or should I bite the bullet and connect via Cat5e and be done with it.  My VPN works much better without AirPort Express connected.

Sorry, but there is no WEP settings AirPort Utility on the iPhone or iPad, or any Mac version of AirPort Utility which was used for the last 4 years or so.

If you have an older Mac still running AirPort 5.x utility or a PC with the AirPort for Windows utility installed on the device, the WEP settings that could be used to get the Express to connect to a WEP network there.

As you know, WEP has not been secured for a number of years, and there are any number of free utilities available on the Internet, which is crack a WEP network in a few seconds. Thus, all those who want to be on your network will not have problems to do very quickly.

    But it's your call.

  • Satellite L650-11R - not able to connect to public networks

    Hello.

Although I am very satisfied with my laptop, I have a problem. I am not able to connect to public networks using ethernet cable to some location (not everywhere) with different laptops users have no problem connecting to networks of same that I can't, so I think that the problem is my laptop.

I always get the error 'unidentified network '. I tried to replace the cable but the problem still remains.

    Any suggestions?

It is not easy to tell what the problem may be, but it is certainly related to the firewall and network settings. Try to disable the firewall and check the connectivity.

Try to compare the LAN settings with others who use the same operating system.

My TI guy told me to do the following...

go to my computer, and then click Properties. Then go in the name of the computer from a network to a working group. I entered the name of my working group. Then it tells me to restart so I did.

Now when I try to get into windows that connect, when I enter the username and password he tells me to check and make sure that they are correct and check the field. It does give me an option to choose a domain.

It's husband's computer and I need to run quickly. Any help would be appreciated.

Note please. I am a novice user and that you will need as more detailed instructions you can give.

BTW - Windows XP Professional is installed on the PC.

    Not good.

When you remove a computer from a domain, and put in a workgroup, you must ensure that you have a local user account with administrative privileges created on the machine before removing the domain.  Maybe the built-in Administrator account will work, but in most domain environments, the default password [White] is replaced by a different password.  Microsoft has an article that deals with this:

"You can not connect after you remove the computer from the domain.

Your technician COMPUTER should have known this would be a problem.  If you are a novice user and you can not access the built-in Administrator account, then your best bet to get must return to the domain and have your guys IT re - join to the domain.  Make sure you have a local user with administrative privileges created before withdrawing again to the field.

Note that you normally will not have to remove a computer from a domain to make it work in a home-networking environment (working group).  You should be able to connect using the credentials cached [field] and your home network must always be visible to you.

  • Connection Wi - Fi Windows guard disconnect from the network.

We went from ISPS to Fios a few weeks ago and my dad's computer is having issues staying connected to the Wifi network. It is running win XP Edition family. It works for about 10 minutes until it is "Impossible to connect to preferred wireless network. When I opened the network available to try to reconnect, it does not work. It says "waiting for network" but never connects. Then I hit cancel and have to make my way to the properties of internet protocol tc/pic, then click OK, and it connects to the network for 10 minutes. Rinse and repeat. But the trick is before you go to properties of internet protocol, I have TO let it fail in the connection to the network is available.

Another thing, if I have it configured to obtain an IP address and DNS of the server automatically, it is stuck on the 'acquisition of network address' forever. never connects. I have to manually set the IP address and DNS servers of the internet to work for 10 minutes... then the above questions.

I have no idea how to solve this problem, then the internet will only work! Help, please!

    Hi patoons,

    · What is the number and the model of the computer?

    · What is the service pack installed?

    · You have security software installed on the computer?

    Follow the methods below:

    Method 1:

Disable security software and firewall temporarily on the computer and then try to connect to the internet.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2:

Follow the steps from the link below: Troubleshooting network connection problems:http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/maintain/troubleshoot.mspx

    Method 3:

Also, try to reset the TCP/IP Protocol and check the results: how to reset the Protocol (TCP/IP) Internet:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357
