Constantly overheating - SP A60

My A60 Pro Saellite is constantly overheating and shutdown. Is this common? Is there something I can do?
It's exasperating bloody & really inconveniant.

Hi Sam,

Try to clean the CPU radiator with a hose of vacuum cleaner against the fan grids. It is a common problem with laptops.

Kind regards

    Hi guys,.

The radiator seems warm enough but still palpable - even if it's just.

As a trial, I would change my CPU clocked at 2.6 Ghz for
a slower, cooler to see if it solves the problem.
Can I just swap, or do I have to change something

Is there anyway I can say that the current of the processor to run

    Thank you
    Ray.

As noted by James energy saver controls the speed of the CPU and cooling method.
You can change the settings and check if it will help.
But a question; How much time do you use this laptop or how old is?
Sometimes after long use, that dust and debris could have a bad influence on cooling and fan modules.
For the most part a cleaning cooling module would avoid overheating. But I would not recommend to clean the laptop yourself if you have no experience.
In my opinion a technician should do.

  • Overheating Sat:A60 - 106

I don't know if anyone here has any ideas, but I just got my laptop last November? and just recently he started more than heating up to the point where it stops. I might be worth hours of use out of it before his stop. If I put my hand on the back of it when the fan is, it is seriously hot. At first, I thought the fan played upward, so I asked one of the techs at work and he said I had to unscrew a plate on the bottom of the it and clean dust off it, but when I put there is no screws on the fan!
If anyone has any ideas, then they are greatky appreciated!

    Hi Will,

If you are looking through this forum, you will find many reports of overheating of laptops as well as various ways to solve the problem.

My normal way of using a vacuum hose is fan aspiration grids (since that is where most of the dust becomes). You can also DEssayez compressed air directed to the radiator grille to try to dislodge the dust in this way.

In the end, you will need to disassemble the heatsink to remove dust manually. Normally, there is an access panel on the heat sink that you need to remove it first.

  • Satellte P750 - constantly overheating

Hello there :) My PSAY3A Satellite - 15 d - 3 K P750 (bought late April this year) has been overheating quite often lately.
Initially it was not a problem but for the last month or two, has been overheating on almost on a daily basis. I bought one of these fans located under the laptop, but I find that heat is generated from the left side of the computer laptop, not sure if the cooling package is really nothing to do.

I'm afraid the constant overheating made damage internal components of the laptop - I am not very computer at all but would appreciate all the advice (in simple terms please!). Thank you very much! :)

    Hello

I put t know how you use your laptop but please use on the desk and make sure that the cooling fans are not blocked.
Friend of mine almost similar problems, and then I saw that she uses to laptop placed on the bed. It was logical that the laptop is not cooled properly and after reaching the critical temperature of material it off automatically.

Sorry, but this virtual path, it is not easy to say more on this subject.

  • SA60: What really causes the constant overheating problem?

We purchased 2 Toshiba Satellite about 16 months ago. Both started to feel constantly overheating ensure downs after about 1 year use. Both have been cleaned professionally.

A SA60-106 was a BIOS update that has well except the fan runs continuously now. The other is does not suffer from problems according to Tosh support of overheating, so no Bios update available. We had to replace this laptop now because it was useless for the work.
Tosh claims that it concerns a type of Satellite produced between February and September 2000. It is obviously false, when you look at these pages of the forum. Also why do they continue selling a defective product, product 3 years before buying?

My point is that the solutions proposed by Tosh as well as this forum alone try (and fail) to cure the symptoms of underlying hardware failure. Two laptop computers were very well for several months. Increase the fan operation and cleaning vents might help a little, but what causes actually CPU get so hot, suddenly, in the first place?

Surely, only increase the ventilation means that the processor is always running to temperatures unhealthy and will soon give the soul completely. I can not even save my files because the laptop does not stay on long enough.

    Hello, Michaela

It is not easy to say why this is happening. In my opinion you should built out the HARD drive and connect it as external device to the other unit and this way try to save all your data.

Your units are pre-installed with recovery media? If this isn't the case, are just Toshiba drivers installed or maybe the drivers given by the producers of hardware parts?

  • Satellite P500 overheats constantly all game

I had the laptop for about 3 months now and for the last 6 weeks, he was constantly overheating.
I brush the air vents to get rid of the dust, but it doesn't seem to help.

The temperature will constantly be at 47%, then suddenly it will overheat after about 30 min of play.
Also, I never hear any sign that the fan is going faster.

    Can someone please.
I have to do something or should I just put up with every half hour of brushing to fans?

    Hey Buddy,

What games can you play on your new Satellite P500?
By the way: are you satisfied with this laptop? I also think of buying a Satellite P500 for home use. It seems to be interesting for this because it has a large screen and a keyboard with numeric keypad.

Anyway, if you have installed another display driver remove and install the driver display Toshiba directly. They are pre-tested and don't overheat your laptop.

What operating system and the BIOS you have installed?

It seems that something was tangled up in your Windows installation and the computer can no longer start t.

In this case, you have only one option and that s reinstalling Windows. Therefore, you can take the (better) Toshiba Recovery disk or a Microsoft Windows XP disk. It will restore factory settings and your computer is read to use again.

  • Satellite P200D-139 - fan does not work properly

My laptop is constantly overheating and the fan does not seem to be varying RPM even in a stress test. I cleaned the cooling fins and assured that everything is properly installed with the right amount of compound radiator.

I thought that perhaps he may have been a defective fan (easy to replace), but before you buy a new one, I thought that I should make sure that it was not simply a glitched and reflashed with the latest BIOS. It was during this reflash that something weird happened. The fan started to turn RPM max (telling me that the fan is ok), but since then, then she came back to type and is not varying or cooling my CPU properly. I'm getting 60 c idle and much more than 85 c under load

Anyone know what the problem might be that sending my westbound?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help

    Hello

    > I cleaned the cooling fins and assured that everything is properly installed with the right amount of compound radiator.
If you have also renewed the thermal grease and open to the whole of the case to clean the computer. Right?

Well, it's always good to disassemble the laptop to do some cleanup. So you can have a perfect result and no dust is no longer in the case of radiator and laptop.

Also the thermal grease must be renewed from time to time, but also the correct thermal grease and the amount must be used. This should be done in an authorized service because they have a layer of fat for coolers for laptop.

In your case I communicate with the guys and explain the situation. They should check the thermal grease that you applied and the fan test it if you need replacement or if s mainboard failure. So that they can make an accurate diagnosis ;)

Motherboard Chipset: nVidia nForce 630M (C67)

    BIOS: Phoenix HP, 23/07/2007, F.06

Had this laptop for free because he was constantly overheating and blue screening and the keyboard didn't work. Bought the new keyboard and fixed overheating by a cleaning in depth and the new thermal paste to the heat sink. Then, I decided to update as much as I can and use it to make music.

The BIOS are very old, F.06. I was told that I should update the BIOS, because the most recent BIOS also included fixes for overheating, among other things. Unfortunately, I was told also that you need the operating system is Vista or BIOS update program "brick" laptop.

I got what I thought, it was the ingenious idea to use my old hard drive, install Vista on it (came to me with Win7 too), update the BIOS, and then replace the new HDD with Win7 in. Trying to install Vista on my old hard drive, the installation routine says impossible to find the hard drive, and I need to install drivers to "see" the hard drive.

I don't know exactly what I need. I tried several AMD AHCI drivers, but I have not found the good, or I need somethng totally different AMD AHCI drivers.

I guess I have two questions.

    1. is it possible to update of the BIOS under Win7, without having to try to do it on another hard drive with Vista?

    2. If Vista will be used, what exactly I need / have to do to get Vista to recognize my original hard drive?

(Hard drive model D'origina listed at the beginning of post)

I want to emphasize that although I have not used the laptop much since I upgraded the CPU, everything seems to work well. I'm just worried that I may have still some problems of overheating, especially since the most recent processor can generate a little more heat than the original (35 watts instead of 31 watts).

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Kind regards

    Bill

    Ok. I'm done.

The hard drive was not recognized because I did something stupid. When I got the new drive and put the old man back, I forgot to transfer adapter plastic little new hard drive to the former. The pins on the old drive never made contact when I put it back in the system.

Once I realized my mistake, I could format the old drive, put Vista on it, Flash the BIOS to the most recent/last version and then replace the old drive to the new drive with Win7-64 on it. Piece of cake.

Now, I did almost everything possible to restore and modernize this computer:

    • Faster CPU support
    • Max RAM
    • Battery high capacity
    • New, 1 TB hard drive (with the pin adapter back on!)
    • Replaced the optical drive non-working
    • Replace the non-functional keyboard
    • BIOS flashed
    • Replace hard drive broken plastic cover
    • Replaced the knob cracked and melted
    • Win7-64
    • Clean the vents, fan, radiator, new thermal paste

Everything seems to work OK so far. Let's see if the overheating problem that caused my ex-wife (the killer of computer) to throw this laptop comes back, or if it is fixed for good. Thanks to those who replied with their answers to help me.

Hi, I am writing on behalf of a friend who knows his laptop A60 closing unexpectedlly... (she says that he stopped after a few minutes, or when she tried to open Firefox)

    Running Windows XP Home

I took a look at distance and was about 30 minutes without any problem using FF logmeinitreach... There was nothing showing in the event log manager, for the time of day, that it would close down all before... so I was wondering if it is a faulty power supply?

Everythng is going on well just clicked on the analysis of complete system of Norton Internet security which has not been run in a long time and the PC, stop NOW, it will not restart everything. ??

Apparently she can hear some buzzing but nothing happens... (which I think might well be the blow fan)

Advised her to let a little and about 2 hours later, she was able to turn it back on... I wonder if it could be overheating. ??

Apparently he is 3/4 months than what was going on then ceased to happen and started again...

Please can you give me some advice on how to clean it - other than to take it to a hardware shop

I downloaded the A60 user manual and have themselves asked to confirm what show the lights - in an attempt to check overheating
    is the question...

I've also read online "you can spray compressed air into the gills of admission but not airflow vents to help get rid of the dust and debris." I have looked at the manual and can see 2 lots of mouths... It is on the side and the other on the bottom, is e eintake the one on the side? I literally direct the air on side air intakes and the spray?

    Hello Cathy

I also believe that the sudden stops are the result of overheating. If the dust is blocking cooling air flow grill is blocked and material can reach the critical temperature of material very fast. Sometimes you can start any application pre-installed, the CPU usage goes to the next level and laptop will suddenly stop.

The laptop should be cleaned as soon as possible. If you have no experience with the disassembly procedure I recommend you contact the closest service and the laptop must be cleaned on professional way. It costs a little bit, but you can be sure that you use Notepad for a longer period of time.

If you need the addresses and phone numbers to contact the ASP (authorized service provider) please visit http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads.

    Bye and good luck!

    Hey Jake,

Your A60 should be able to run continuously without overheating unless there is a problem with the air flow through the radiator CPU.

The only problems are likely to be a radiator clogged (easily resolved with a vacuum cleaner hose) or blocked the grilles of intake (fixed by placing the laptop in a suitable place (and not on a carpet or fabric upholstery and probably not on the knees if possible).

The unit you mentioned can be of any help in this last scenario because it can prevent the grilles of intake being accidentally blocked while the laptop is in use.

Personally, I don't see much advantage in the use of these devices, but they do no harm, so I guess the choice is yours. :)

  • Equium A60 - fan runs constantly

Equium A60. 5 years old. For years, the fan is running constantly. Even in winter, and when little ongoing transformation.

    Help. Beginner language please.

    Hello

After 5 years of use, I think that your laptop is full of dust. Dust blocks the flow of air and the laptop cannot be cooled correctly. Because of this cooling fan runs constantly and try to cool down the hardware components.

In my opinion the first step you need to do is clean up your laptop. If you want to do this properly the laptop must be dismantled. I don't know if you can do it alone without manual maintenance, but if it must be done on the service business contact way and let them do it for you.

  • Satellite Pro A60 - is overheating and shuts

    Hello

I have a problem with my A60. I start and everything goes OK. I put in a temporary monitoring software because it works for awhile and then just stop. What I see happening now, is that it will heat up to 65 then the fan comes on and at 55 it stops. This can happen a few times, and then he forgets turn on the fan. After that he climbs slowly until she happens to 85 when he cuts. I bought a stand 3 fans and now it stays on as long as when it goes on the fan circuit anointed, gets it to 77-80 and stays on. The problem is if I USE then overheating and stop again.

What control actually (and fails to start) the fan cut in the process. This part of the function of the BIOS? Updated BIOS ver 1.7 to ver 1.9 will make a difference? I'm afraid that this update will not end before overhearting and I'll be left with an unusable machine.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    >.. .a finds a way to fix it properly.
This type of hardware components are not fixed but replaced so if you think that the cooling fan is defective exchange it.

One more thing, the vacuum cleaner is OK, but you can't wait to clean up your laptop to look like new. I disassembled my Satellite M70 and was surprised how much dust was inside.
Just after the withdrawal of the ventilation openings, I was able to clean it properly.

  • Satalite Pro A60 overheating and crashing

My satalite Satalite A60 Pro keeps overheating and crashing. It says something about an ati driver.

I downloaded a bios between bios-190trad of this Web site.
I burned the iso to the disk, but I can't get the laptop to boot from the disk in the read me file that comes with the bios it says to press F12 to start the laptop. F12 doesn't do anything for me. How to boot from the CD I am using Windows XP Service pack 2.

    Hello

First of all if you want to boot from the CD, you must change the boot order in the BIOS. To get into the BIOS, you can press ESC and then F1.
Another possibility is the C key immediately after starting the laptop.

If the laptop overheats so I guess the fans don't work properly. In this case, you should try to clean the fans. (use the vacuum cleaner)

  • Satellite A60 overheating - not possible to recover the operating system

    Hey there,

I'm almost certain I have a hardware problem with my Toshiba A60. Explorer.exe has stopped running, doing system restore helped for a while, but he just kept happening again. System Restore loses all its points of restore, safe mode did not help at all. I managed to back up everything and went to the Toshiba Recovery CD.

He managed to kill everything on my internal hard drive (or at least enough that it no longer starts), but effective recovery program only happens to about 12% then goes to a black screen, it's the same thing if I try to use expert mode on the recovery CD. Also, the laptop overheats a lot. I am so sure that it's a hardware problem.

In any case, according to the website my warranty expired 08/2005. I just wanted to know if there is any way I can contact Toshiba? Most of the companies at least listen to you if they sold you a product that overheats and breaks (even if he does that the expiration of the warranty).

Yet, it was the closest I could find on a "Contact us" page (other than the all-in-one phone number). Even if I can't get it fixed for free I wanted to know if there was any kind of paid service. Can I get any help? With the contacting Toshiba, I have not the strength to try something new with my laptop now that he can only boot from a CD and that done correctly.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

I contacted Toshiba service partner in my country if I had a problem with my laptop. I think you should also ask the authorized assistance service provider. Don t contact one of Toshiba because most of the time, go to the point service.

I found this link that will help you find the right provider in your country:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/Su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?PF=true

But if you laptop overheating then you should check the cooling modules, if there is no dust or / and debris. Especially books of overheating because the cooling modules will not twist correctly and the air circulation is compromised.
