Convert/export Workstation to Vsphere?

I don't know if this is the proper forum for this.

I have a v7 Vmware Workstation WITH 1 instant machine I want to export so that I can run in Vsphere 4.1

There is a vmware KB article:

Export of VMS in VMware Workstation to ESX

(I don't have the KB # because it is not print)

In any case, this means that you can do this WITH snapshots (I blieve this is point 5).

Now, if I use the instructions, it will fail with 'comments unsupported OS' (SLES 11 64-bit in this case).  For some weird reason.  If I adjust the "OS" type in vmware workstation so that there 'another 64 - bit', then convert it.

But it does not in the snapshot.

Unfortunately, I need to bring during the snapshot.

But I see a completely Ko diff, which indicates that you CAN use the converter with snapshots.

So what KB's right?

Import a VM WS with snapshots on ESX (i) AND by keeping the snapshots is not supported by any version of the converter.

If a KB is claiming that this is possible, it should be fixed.

However, you might think of ways to do it manually - but the effort would be significant - nothing that could be done with a procedure ' click here / click here.
I would consider rather to create two or more different VMs

  • What is the fastest way to convert VMWare workstation VM of ESXi?

    Hello

Was curious to know what is the quickest way to convert a VMWare workstation VM to a VM compatible ESXi. Is the method of standalone converter VMWare at the following ADDRESS of the faster method:

    http://www.networkinghowtos.com/HOWTO/convert-virtual-machine-VMware-Workstation-ESXi-vSphere/

Or is the method below faster? The method below mentions converter standalone is required for Workstation 8 VM but did not mention if it is needed for Workstation 8 AND HIGHER VM (ie: 9 and 10 workstation).

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1012258

My ultimate goal is to export on a USB key and then import on the ESXi instead of convert and copy it to the network server. I'm exporting to my 3 TB USB would be faster than the copy of the virtual machine on the network. Thoughts?

I think the second is the best option VMware KB: export of VMS in VMware Workstation to ESX/ESXi

As you can see you can export the VM and after import on the EXS (do not use personalization)

But uf you have Vmware Workstation 8 or higher, you can connect to the ESX Server and move the machine. If you are in the same local network and do it at a time of low workload, it would be the best option.

  • Merger of converter for workstation or ESX

    Hello!

Is it possible to do a Fusion converter for workstation or ESX?

Anyone know of any option or howto?

    Thank you.

When you create the virtual machine in workstation, you just place the vmdk file in the virtual machine folder and point to it (use an existing hard disk) disk.

I'm trying to move the entire folder from mac to windows in order to verify if the virtual machine still works or not, but I think the .vmx file mac file must be different from the .vmx file in windows, because they use different types of partion, disk, system files and files speaking.

Yes, you can use the converter to convert your VM workstation or Fusion to the ESX format. (see this link)

  • The numbers don't convert/export of files in Excel

    Spin Numbers ' 08, Version 1.0.3

    OS X Version 10.10.5, Yosemite

I started by spending eight hours per person in total entry of data into a new file numbers "clean". Once completed, I needed to share this data with anyone who has only Excel. So I thought I'd just to export this file in Excel and send it to him. But...

When I try to convert a file of numbers in Excel, data I click file > export > Excel, Next > select the destination > export.

I get the error message: "Error exporting the file 'nom_archive' could not be found."

Where 'filename' is a file I probably had on my hard drive a few years back, but is long gone.

I tried cutting all the data of the file numbers I'm trying to convert to and paste into a new file numbers. Same error message.

Anyone ever heard of this, or knows how to get around it?

I have not heard of it, but another option would be to open the document numbers, select all and copy paste into a spreadsheet of LibreOffice, then save in Excel format. You can download and install LibreOffice toll-free and it has excellent compatibility with Excel: https://www.libreoffice.org

  • Using VM from Workstation in vSphere

    Hi all.

I need to make a virtual machine that will be used on vSphere Enterprise 5, Plus. If I make it in Pro 12 workstation (or perhaps earlier versions) will it be compatible?

May be there are some documents describing the compatibility of VMS between versions of vmware products?

    Hello

    Welcome to community work station!

When you open the window 'New virtual machine Assistant', you can select "Custom (advanced)" and click "next".

Select "Workstation 8.x" as above and then complete the new Wizard of VM to create your virtual machine, it will be compatible with ESXi 5.0.

Well, if you already have a VM 12 Workstation, you can try changing the compatibility of hardware VM by procedure below:

1 open the virtual machine in 12 Pro Workstation, power it off.

    2. click on the 'VM' menu-> 'Manage'-> ' change hardware compatibility... ". »

    3. change the hardware compatibility for 'Workstation 8.x.

Please note that sometimes changing hardware compatibility does not go as planned. For example, your virtual computer has a size greater than 2 TB drive...

    It will be useful.

    Kind regards

  • How to convert/export a file HAVE to be functional in MS Publisher

    Hello

I need to convert my file HAVE to be compatible with MS Publisher.

It must also be able to be modified more (color filling Forms).

Can I save/export the file to a certain format that would help me achieve this goal?

    Thank you

    Harrison

Your question is a bit like asking, "How can I convert my Mercedes Benz to use Hyundai parts?"

The best you'll do is save in PDF format, then use a PDF to PUB converter, many of which are available (Google "convert PDF to PUB"). Be ready to make repairs and the compromise in the Publisher file.

  • Convert ESX 3 VMs vSphere 5 mV (Win 2 k 3 STD).

Hello to everyone.  Familiar with ESX 3 but a beginner to vSphere 5.

I have a single host of ESX 3.0 (Yes... he have updated years ago... I don't know) that I am now ready to move VMs from him at our new 5.0 ESXi host (vSphere Essentials so I put my vCenter available now).  My problem is that vSphere converter does not list Win 2003 STD as a compatible host OS... ?  The converter just does not work on a Server 2003 STD or if she isn't just officially supported?  Just one question before I go hunting a herring-saur.

Also, if anyone knows a set of documents or a path to do this conversion, I appreicate a pointer in the right direction.

    Thanks in advance!

    Clark

I assume you are talking about http://www.vmware.com/support/converter/doc/conv_sa_50_rel_notes.html#guestos

    Windows Server 2003 SP2, R2 (32-bit and 64-bit)

This means that Windows 2003 with SP2 and R2 are supported.

  • Convert the VMs of Vsphere ESXi 4.0

I need to convert / put several computer images virtual of a cluster of vSphere to ESXi 4.0 stand-alone servers.

I've been using vCenter Converter and some pictures are really time consuming to convert (to most probably caused by the network...)

Is there a better way to do it?

Is there a quick way to do it?

Any help would be appreciated.  THX!

    There is also another way.

If you have vCenter Server (you are talking about a vSphere cluster), you can put in the time the ESXi in assessment, add to vCenter and use the migration of vCenter.

  • How to convert/export an illustrator in MS publisher file?

    Hello world!

I'm in pain with some people that I was help out which now becomes a bit nasty with me.
They asked me to change the file .ai to something, that they can use in MS Publisher, so they can always change.

I have tried and searched all hollow... Can not find a way to do it, or if it is still possible?

    They wrote me this:

Normally, when you save a program that you also have the option to import or to export to a different document type, save the original formats.

I need you to try and export adobe in MS Publisher format files.  We do not want to buy Adobe Illustrator.  We do not want that he used for creaing drawings, logos, etc. because we must be able to make changes at any time.  Please try to export to MS Publisher.

Export the document should enable us to keep the layout and formats without having to convert them into eps, then import via an add-on is filtered.

MSPub will import any graphic / image format that you can import into other Office applications, ranging from the EMF / WMF / EPS / PDF for vectors to BMP/PNG/TIFF for pixel graphics. There is no such thing as a format specific chart for MSPub. Only MSPub can create (clip) extracted from the art, but they are essentially the documents just trimmed Publisher who re - use the main document format to encapsulate other works of art, imported or created in the program. So, really, your customer demand is insane either. If put a WMF file is asking too much, so I don't really know if anybody out there can be more unfit then their...

  • ARRIRAW converter exported file makes first crash.

    Hi all

I am faced with one very annoying problem .we started a new project using camera Arri Alexa XT a couple of days. After some research we opted to convert the material to any Proxy format (Quicktime ProRess 422HQ or 444) using ARRIRAW converter which can make the workflow much .but easier whenever I tried to import the Quicktime file for the first it ends with making first crash with this error message.Screen Shot 2016-07-25 at 10.17.18 PM.png

    one suffered such a problem?

as we turn to 2880 x 1620 Arriraw 4:3. is it possible to edit the material directly to the first without rendering? predefined sequence is recommended?

First version is CC 2015 version 9.

    Mac Osx 10.11

First of all, a yellow bar above a timeline is neither unusual nor a problem... it is just a warning that it is y * could * have an opportunity to frame ignored or two in reading. Most of my sequences always shows yellow lines, no matter what I am using media and never have to worry about reading. Red line, then you can go ahead and make this article for a better reading.

Second... PrPro creates clips to match media, without ask you about it, when you 'drop' a clip on a blank mounting board or the "new item" icon. Do it either and you can right click on the sequence and choose 'Properties' and it will show you what are the parameters of the sequence. When you delete a clip on a blank mounting board or the new icon, what do you see in your program monitor? It shows well the media?

Third, on the import of media via PrPro Media Browser panel, click to activate 'Ingest' as shown below...

Now, click on the key to the right of the option Ingest, i.e. the dialogue options "settings to ingest.

    Gives you several options.

You can just copy the disk to a drive on your machine, simply to transcode without doing anything else, create proxies, or copy it into a new Dorit and create proxies. Of course, as you can see, there is also an option to add a pre-defined Ingest that you create.

When I chose the option "Proxy Creat" simple, she chose the Cineform 1024 x 540 preset to match the proportions of the size of the image of the original media that has been selected and the other things as indicated in the summary section to also match the original media. There are several other options that he gave me in the preset area by clicking on the arrow pointing down.

Fix cela, then access your media in the media browser panel, select one or several files, do a right click, import... it uses Media Encoder to make the creation of proxy, there are a few steps more... you should be able to move through them.

Also one last thing... that sign + right I'm on red here?

Click on that to make up the dialog "Button Editor" and made drag the button "Enable proxy" (the blue thing circled in red) in the assets of buttons buttons area. You use this to activate/display proxies or the original media.

She always makes the original media. And they have a few useful bits in the help files...

  • Convert a Workstation AVCHD from my server

    Hi all

I built a server a little while back (February 2009) to run VMware and wasting his time with virtual machines.  I have more the need to do this, so I decided to make this server into a video editing station.  The server consists of the following:

    Motherboard:

    ASUS DSEB-D16/SAS Dual LGA 771 Intel 5400

    CPU:

    Intel Xeon E5410 Harpertown 2.33 GHz LGA 771 80W

    RAM:

    8GB A-DATA 240-pin DDR2 FB-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) ECC Fully Buffered

    OS drive / Prime Minister:

Fujitsu MBA3300 MBA3147RC 147 GB 15000 rpm Serial Attached SCSI (SAS)

    Media players:

2 x Samsung 750 GB (not in any RAID config for now)

    Video:

    NVIDIA 8800 GTS 512 MB

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on the system and it seems to work very well.  I don't really like for the motherboard over, but until I can actually afford a better system (Supermicro MBD-X8DA3-O with 2 Intel Xeon E5520 Nehalem 2.26 GHz LGA 1366 80W) I have to run my current system.

I did no editing again with the system, just the reading of the MTS files first, and it seems not jerky.  Is there anyway I can improve performance with my current system?  I don't know if I want to spend the money on another treatment if I move to another mobo soon.  What is my RAM slow me down?

    Thank you in advance.

CineForm has a good reputation, but go to http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/cineform-software-showcase/ and search for specific messages by David Newman on all the problems that their software can have with CS4. David is a great guy, CTO of Cineform, who is extremely helpful and honest about any shortcomings in their software. Without beating around the Bush. Their support is fabulous, something Adobe should take as an example.

My hypothesis is that the NDA to vSphere is over and someone can answer all the questions running vSphere as a virtual machine and so all guests can be run from there VMware Workstation in vSphere?

It would be very happy to be able to run a cluster of vSphere ESX from VMware Workstation you can currently with 3.5 for the etc test

For those who are interested in Mike's blog - http://www.rtfm-ed.co.uk/?p=1049
