copy / mirror / experience to migrate?

I'm adding disks to my SC8000 and intend to use the encryption features.  This means that I have to use the function "migrate" to move my VMware aka "LUN" for new disks data stores encrypted during the execution of the normal workload.

Stories about success or failure of the performance of this type of action?  Maybe some of you had the opportunity to use the migration feature?

It seems that the data, when it migrates, simply land on RAID-10 unless I do something.  Well.

We have made several copy/move operations here without problem. The controller manages the 'behind the scenes' migration and even applications with heavy IOPS / s did not notice the change. When you perform the copy/move you create and select the volume target, and if you want this volume that can be assigned to a profile of proofreading without access to the layer 1/2, etc... If you are in "Advanced" Mode, you can also specify that the profile of this rereading cannot write on something other than Raid5/6 etc... We had this problem when we first imported all our Hitachi / volumes in the HDS EMC. Online storage / report attributed showed half of my storage was awarded to Raid-10. We had to contact Copilot to delete these pages manually (often requires rebalance raid) which frees up space to be allocated RAID 5/6.

'PMS Data Migration experience' is not a term EBS - most likely a seller or third expression/tool/software.

"Data migration" in HRMS (other EBS modules) generally refers to the process of transferring data from a legacy system to the EBS during the process of going live with EBS.

  • Migration to OAS

    Hello

(If I posted this in the wrong section please move the thread. (Thank you!)

I have a few questions about migrating from oracle forms 6i at least version 10.

    Some background information:

At the moment we use oracle 10.2.0.5 (Linux) with forms 6i and its time to upgrade.

Given that the forms 6i are not compatible with the 11 g database (at the very least, it is not recommended to use not supported)

We thought to stick to the current database version and put first in the Forms 10 and later upgrade to

version the most recent database and forms/States.

We are not sure if it's the best approach?

You must understand that we have a lot of application developed in forms/reports 6i (more than 1000) and

migrate all will take time, so we think running forms6i paralel to Forms 10 and

aplication slowly compilation / migration to version 10 of the form. Centerly we cannot go 'offline' with production

    for any period of time.

Now, I have a question to which I don't have a straight answer yet.

For us to upgrade to version forms 10 that we need:

    (a) application server 10 g - it can be executed on the host windows from our database is on linux, are there problems in the said combination?

    (b) developer oracle 10-> This is the only package for developers?

    (c) and what else do we need. ... I mean I'm used to client-server env. where each user has access to the client installed on his PC.

    (d) anything else?

Our developers are not qualified in PL/SQL this upgrade will be no problem given the Java with OAS support.

will we in the future a Java developer?

If we follow this way is it possible to upgrade to the latest version of forms/report of database 10g...

    without mounting/recompilation aplications?

And another thing what concerns us is oracle application server - oracle weblogic.

    (a) what is the difference?

    (b) how to improve us the weblogic server application server?

We know that we took off the coast of this upgrade for many at since a long time and now we have more problems that we should.

What we want is a stable env. that will be functional, secure and will allow us to develop better applications with less fuss.

Anyone with some previous experience in migration could please let us know of any idea about this, and what would be the best way

    to handle this.

    Regards, Matt.

I have a few questions about migrating from oracle forms 6i at least version 10.

First of all: do not migrate a version to yet another version desupported desupported. The most recent Version for forms is 11.1.2.1; If you use discoverer, you might want to take a look at 11.1.1.7 which is essentially forms, reports and discoverer grouped in one package.

At the moment we use oracle 10.2.0.5 (Linux) with forms 6i and its time to upgrade.

Given that the forms 6i are not compatible with the 11 g database (at the very least, it is not recommended to use not supported)

You will not have to do the migration on a running system? You will definitely need to make some changes to your code, because the architecture of Web Forms is different from the architecture of the C/S forms, so an upgrade to a newer version that you can expect from an upgrade of database using DBCA (with additional tests) certainly will not happen. When we migrated our forms for

11g I first installed an application of 11g server, copied the files and compiled, made some code changes (we have already been in 10g, so I had to make only minor changes) and tested, tested tested. When I had finished, I built a version 11g and handed over to QM for further testing. Doing things in parallel with the form after form live seems so good to me, after all your users will need access to certain parts of the application through C/S and items migrated via the web. In theory, this may look good as you will not have a big bang, when you switch from the C/S for the web, but as said at least for me it sounds a little confusing.

Also have a look at the forms upgrade Center:

    http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/index-095046.html

Also, google gives you a good impression on the migration of forms; After all many forms developers went if it and are willing to share their experiences freely on blogs and whatever else.

And just to add a tip: If you do not already have a version control system with your forms under version control * before * starting the migration would be a very good idea.

    see you soon

  • Impact of the Migration of the VPC?

    Hello

I prepare for the migration of a back to back inter-donnees Center, architecture of the VPC from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps links.  Currently, the LAG is a 2 Gbps aggregate and I need it thrust to 20Gbps.  The connections between these two data centers use dark fiber and covers a single STP domain (for each VLAN associated).  I have attached a diagram which illustrates this topology in detail, including the spanning-tree Protocol (RSTP PV +) port of roles and roles of the VPC, etc..  The diagram also illustrates my proposed method of implementation.

I am very concerned by the type of convergence, I will experience this migration.  We have some very important systems that use this connectivity, and I can't afford a lot of impact.  The subtleties of transfer between VPC BPDU trunks (and how they differ from normal trunks) complicates things.

What are your thoughts on this plan?  What do you what the impact of this migration would be?  (I obviously requires a window accommodate such a change, but I would like to be able to prepare the company for what lies ahead.)

Thanks for your thoughts beforehand.  It is much appreciated.

    Hi, Jeffrey.

The procedure you follow is correct and you do not feel a major impact on the network. Even at step 7, there will be no impact on the network.

Check compatibility with module 1 G & 10 G in same VDC or required of any OS upgrade before the plan of an activity or a migration.

  • Haley at stages of Migration of OPA

    Hello

We can help with the steps likely to follow (can be experience) for migration rule authority of Haley to OPA. ?

Version of rules authority of Haley is 5.2d.

    1. what I learned that there is no tool or assistants to these migrations. Is this true?

    2. can we staright away to import a .akb file in the OPA?

    3. If we are to make an estimate, how to get to the same (from previous experience)?

    Kind regards

1.) there is no tool or assistants.  HaleyAuthority and OPA always were separate products.

2.) No. HaleyAuthority akb file was a proprietary format (this is the underlying database model and would be too complicated to glean a lot of info of) However, HaleyAuthority reports will provide useful information in this time the conceptual model can be declared totally and modules and statements can be reported.  This will make it easier to see which, if any, the functional differences between the products were obtained and must be taken into account in the planning of a transition.  (example authority supported a conceptual model of multiple inheritance and provided the ability to attach if and only if and unless statements directly to modules). On the other hand, OPA checks several rules with the same conclusion, provides a different way to express rules that loop through entities, etc. Keep in mind that the logical equivalence can be achieved between the two products, but requiring this logic to change expressions.

(3.) I would rely on the reports of the authority for you provide detailed specifications for the rules and the model and then use it to estimate the effort of the OPA.  In addition, you should also look at the integration of the complete system to determine if one of the OPA standard connectors can be used or whatever which needs to be developed.

  • Problems with Creative Cloud Desktop on the migration of the old MacbookPro to new MacbookPro

It is not a question but more my recent experiences with migrating from an old (mid-2010 MacbookPro 17 ") to a new MacbookPro (mid-2015) and the consequences regarding the CC Apps.

I didn't know that he would have problems with creative cloud during the migration process (or I don't think there should be), but clearly there is something about how Adobe Connect all of the CC following your computer as part of the license agreement which means that you cannot migrate right and it will be honky dory (that's Aussie for you beauty or top notch or large if you) prefer) just like any other piece of software on my laptop that comes with a software "KEY" to the license.  Every other piece of software migrated perfectly and works perfectly without having to reenter the KEYS so he beat me that Adobe makes it so damned awkward... but anyway... it is what it is.  The fact that the license agreement allows you to have the software installed on 2 machines is another reason it intrigues me that you cannot migrate seamlessly.

What alerted me on an issue after that migration was that Desktop CC crashed suddenly on a cold start.  So I looked at these forums and found a thread that explains how to remove Desktop CC and reinstall.  It worked but later in the day after a reboot it CC Desktop crashed again.  Put it back, once again failed.  Discovered that the preferences Office CC file has not been deleted by the CC Office uninstall App manually deleted, empty the trash, rebooted, reinstalled and it worked.  Next reboot, it crashed it again.  What the...

Now I'm about to throw the laptop out the window, but it became clear that I had to remove every single application under the CC and then clearing debris NOT removed by uninstall of applications. It became a nightmare after nearly 6 hours of effort.

From 23:00 last night I gave her one last shot.  Uninstalling, cleaning of CC tool, kill everything, throw it in the trash, reboot and reinstall.  Sam with my fingers crossed and poof, it just.  Winner winner chicken dinner.  Click on install both applications LI and PS, then set the computer laptop do not sleep and stop at the bed.  In the morning, she did, and after a reboot, everything is good.  SO FAR.

Hope this might help someone else who is having similar levels of grief.

    Chris

Thank you John, but I already figured that out as you would have assumed my post.  Also, I've marked as supposed message answer because I've sung on the first sentence was that it was more a comment for the benefit of others who experience the same issue.  Not sure how it has changed state is an unanswered question.

  • Migration of profiles of win2k3 TS to view Win7

I searched a bit and found nothing about it... someone had experience of migration of Windows 2003R2 Server Terminal Services user profiles to Windows 7 using a configuration management Persona? I'm tempted to just run the tool migration profile against the documents and settings on the TS server folder, he did not want to waste my time if someone already knew it did not work, or knew a better way.

Then I ran the migration profile against the profiles tool, seems to have worked very well.

  • Is it possible to migrate the content via API area?

    Hello

I need to migrate a portal Oracle 9.0.2 installation a 11.1.1.4. Now, I had some really unpleasant and even traumatic experiences with migration. I was wondering is there an API in 11.1.1.4 where I can create a process that takes the 9.0.2 pages and generated in 11.1.1.4.?

    Kind regards

    Nestor Boscpan

There's the wwsbr_api [url http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/wwsbr-api-154905.html] that provides you with many features to create groups of pages, pages, articles, etc. Theoretically, it can be used to build a migration tool, but I doubt that it is more robust than the upgrade of the Oracle scripts. But then, you have not improved your environment for centuries, so there may be challenges that await you.

  • Migration to new storage ASM

Oracle 11G R2 RAC with ASM on Solaris 10

Just do my due diligence to prepare material migration of storage of StorageTek (RAID 5) for NetApp (RAID 6) with more space

Anyone has any experience of migration to new hardware for storage with different RAID types when you use ASM? I guess there is no problem of hardware compatibility. Is it possible to connect the new storage to the servers and create new ASM disks groups, move data to the new disk groups files and then remove the old storage? Or should I take a RMAN backup and then restore it on the new storage?

Yes, but remember that you don't want to leave all as unpaired LUN in the same diskgroup permanently, as ASM blindly assumes that all LUNS have the same capabilities and balances Allocation units (AUs) is based on this assumption.

If you break rebalance ASM, add a lot of new LUNS in an existing diskgroup and mark all old LUNS to fall once evacuated, then resume the rebalancing, the end result will be all new LUNS that are all also hitched. Just by adding a few new LUNS leaving some old would produce suboptimal performance.

If you go to the approach of separate ASM diskgroup, you have the luxury to migrate your files (if desired) iteratively given ASM manages two independent disk groups.

Don't forget to assign points if you find my answers to be useful and accurate.

    Thank you very much

  • Migration Oracle 11 g of Sun Solaris sparc to Red had linux

    Dear Experts,

Could you please share your experiences of migration Oracle Database 11 g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production of Sun Solaris Sparc 64 - bit Red Hat linux 5.6. Any links, documentation, issues, notes would be very useful.

    Thank you.

I think that the best way to achieve this is to perform a test using test databases/servers. This test will identify the problems and obstacles specific to your installation, which may or may not be mentioned in the generic documentation that you can find.

  • Mirroring with non-destructive outline

    I am trying to achieve...

    Screen Shot 2012-08-13 at 9.32.30 PM.png

.. .but with appearances, so that I can always change the graphic later, to say that if I wanted to do something like this (alt + click - move to dupe an item within the Group)...

    Screen Shot 2012-08-13 at 9.34.49 PM.pngScreen Shot 2012-08-13 at 9.34.03 PM.png(desired mode traced result)

Someone knows how to do this in a non-destructive way, so that I don't have to recreate the black outline around all of this, every time I want to make a change?

    To do now:

    1. Create the two square, group them and create an appearance (fx > transform) to account for x with a copy (mirroring the object on the left side).
    2. Expand the appearance.
    3. Copy all stick behind, add the paths and add the black line.

Makes me what I want to see, but it's a pain in the neck for edit/edit/Polish. I want to get the run around these two objects in the Group and still be able to non-destructively (i.e. do not expand appearance) change the group with update of the race and thinking. Can it be done? Without a script?

    See you soon,.

  • copy the applications using the utility application for copy of HFM when users connected.

    Hi all

I use utility application for copy of HFM to migrate applications in environments. Can we do the same thing when the users are logged in and active? I know that this utility copies just tables from source to destination, but I don't know if the copy will be successful if some tables are under edition of m.

    Thank you
    Rambeau

    Hello
Don't run the copy utility appplication HFm when applications are in use. Let's say you have app1, 2, 3, 4, and you want to move app 1, make sure that app 1 is not in use.

If some body accesses app2, 3 or 4, that you don't want to worry about that while moving app 1.

  • Hyperion Planning copy provisioning of users of the Application

Hi, I'm copying a 9.3.1 application from development to production.
With copy app I've migrated data and metadata. I am not able to know how to copy also user and commissioning.

There is no tool or I have to do it manually?

    Thanks in advance
    DecaXD

    Hello

The utility does not set up users to the shared services, you must configure users to shared services before the migration of the application or enforcement of the updateusers utility.

Utility synchronizations users in planning with shared services, they need to exist in shared services.

If you want to migrate shared services provisioning, then you can try and use the import utility in the hyperion\common\utilities directory.

  • Problem planning migration 4.0.1 to 9.3.1

Anyone has any experience of migration of 401 to 931? We have tried to restore a backup of SQL 2000 on a SQL 2005 database of planning. This part seems to work. However, once we try to connect to the planning application after restoring via the workspace, we continue to get the error messages. The 401 owner app isn't ID num 50001. How in the face of that? I also need to update the owner from one user to another. In 401, it was as easy as a few scripts update in 2 tables (HSP_USERS and HSP_OBJECTS). Is - it still apply? Would appreciate any idea. Thank you. Note, we moved from NTLM to MSAD... which complicates the issue somewhat.

    Hello

You just empty it's empty, then restart planning.

You will experience issues if the admin user you the logging in does not exist or other native code. (do not know what account you used to create the application on the new environment compared to the former)

You can change the owner of the application by setting the role that 3 for the id in the table HSP_USERS, any changes always restart the schedule service.

Anyway see how you get the first then no problem, that we can look at more commissioning.

I copied this profile regarding migration and set it aside. I have now the old computer profile up, and I need to integrate the messages downloaded in the meantime.

What to do, what to do?

    Thank you.

    Install this add-on.
