Corrupted photos
After you have enabled recently iCloud library on my Mac, I was scrolling through the photos and noticed that many of them seem to have been corrupted at some point. The vignettes illustrate with different amounts of black area covering part of the photo:
And the photo will appear in a special way:
All photos of corrupt display in a similar way: top photo frame, small thumbnail on a gray horizontal line, then a top photo. Portrait photos are the same except: just part of the picture, small thumbnail on the vertical gray line, then more right of photo.
All photos are lasting about 2 months time about a year back and not all the photos of this interval are messy (but most are). I confirmed with my iPhone (also connected to iCloud photo library with the option optimize on) that this oddity is not only local to my Mac. I know that these pictures once used to display normally, and I don't know what that could have triggered the change. I hope there is a way to fix these photos, and I am also afraid that this can happen again more of my photos. Someone at - it no indication as to a possible cause or solution?
It looks like JPEG corruption, perhaps a transmission error iCloud or bad blocks on your disk.
Copies of your photos in iCloud displayed correctly? Open the Photos.app on your iCloud Web www.icloud.com page and look at the pictures in question. Download some for your mac.
Restore your library of Photos of Time Machine to an external drive (go back in time to a date before you downloaded the photos to iCloud) and compare with the photos that you have uploaded to iCloud.

Corrupt photos on my Satellite M50
Hello
I have a Satellite M50-130 and have just started to have a problem with the photo files.
They began to corrupt and the preview comes up with the words "drawing failed" or "no preview available".I can still see the thumbnail image but the info for the file, IE the size and what the camera has been used disappeared.
I don't know why this is happening and it has not stopped. I open old files with photos in and found that one or two were corrupted.
It could have been using ad-aware, I guess. I did a system restore to a different time, but this does not solve the problem.
Any other ideas?
Thank you
Hello James
Please don't be crazy on me, but I see no connection between the described issue and Toshiba as the manufacturer of the laptop.
In my opinion corrupt photos has something to see how you use your laptop and stuff everything you have preinstalled on it. The fact is that current operating system you will be able to open all the jpeg and bmp files (if it is not damaged).
What kind of photos you have (jpeg or something else)? Have you tried to open these files on another PC?
-
I tried to copy a folder of my images in Doucuments. The transfer failed, and now I'm not able to preview the photos. Records still show that they are there and the names are on the records. But I can't see them.
I didn't know you were using XP. It is a Forum of Vista. It has been long since I used XP on a daily basis, so I don't know if the procedures would be the same (but they are probably similar - just maybe located elsewhere). The procedures of lost files will not work with XP (programs are designed for Vista and I have not checked to see if the links work with XP).
I suggest you link below to ask your question: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/xppictures/threads where the people who specialize in XP issues associated with images will be more than happy to help you with your problem.

blank or corrupted photos after importing
Hello
I have just started taking a Lightroom Craftsy.com class. (I use Lightroom 4.4).
The instructor we traveled the best settings in the preferences. (i.e., ProRGB, 16-bit).
I then created a new catalog and imported (RAW and jpeg) photos from my memory card. Once the photos have been imported, after a minute or two, I started to notice that some of them are turning white or striped with color. My instructor said that it must be a bad card or reader. I replaced both but the problem persists. When I right click on my photos damaged in my catalog and choose Edit in Photoshop CS6, damage are also there in Photoshop.
However, when I look at the original photos on the hard drive, they are very well.
My instructor suggested to uninstall and reinstall Lightroom. I did and it does not work.
I also went back in and changed my presets to default color label. No chance here no more.
Can someone help me with this?
Here are 2 screenshots:
Thanks in advance!
Joan
Although I hope that you have indeed solved the problem, I would like to point out that I agree with what others have said.
This isn't a software problem, the cause of these issues and therefore update your software or the firmware of your camera is not just going to help.
It is a hardware problem. Somewhere between the capture of the image to the screen by Lightroom or Photoshop, a piece of hardware is defective because of these problems. It could be something from the card from camera to hard drive or memory, and you will have to troubleshoot every piece of hardware, one by one, until you can isolate the problem.

After the upgrade to Photoshop CC 2015.5 photos corrupted when runing sharpness batch
Hello!
My H/W is Dell XPS 13 / 9350, i7/6560U, 16 GB of RAM, Intel Iris 540, win 10 Pro (x 64) Ver.1607.
I was running on Photoshop CC 2015 until recently updated to 2015.5 CC.
I have had no problem of what Photoshop if running before the update.
After the update I get corrupted photos photos 2 and 3 out of 10 when I run the Batch of sharpness.
(the rectangular size is the same, but color, opacity or numbers vary from photo to photo...)This corrupt trend occurs more frequently especially if I run another photo, navigation program.
The funny thing is, if I have smart sharpen with legacy checked above trend does not occur.
But then I can't use function 'Noise' because it disappears if "Legacy" is ticked
It also completely disappears if I uncheck the GPU or OpenGL in preferences, but there
about 5 times as long to do the job.
FYI, I have the latest video driver from Dell.
If someone out there have a smart solution, it would make my day!
THX!
Download the latest driver for your web site for map display manufacturing display device not Dell.

Hi, pretty catastrophic issue here with my iPhoto and photo library.
Having had both my iPhoto and photo library stored on an external hard drive (since I'm on a 120 GB MacBook Air) to save space. Everything worked fine until recently.
Currently, all my pictures and videos bar as it is impossible to find the most recent import (s) - photo shows only the thumbnail of them.
The Master of the record, all these images and videos are of zero byte. The photo library also said 55GO (the total size of the photo library), but when trying to copy to a new position, only 9,77 GB is copied and also takes three to four times the rate of the normal copy. NB: 9,77 GB is the total of images and videos of the import (s) most recent are still correct.
The only mistake that I can't seem to remember is that I moved my iPhotos and photo of a FAT32 formatted partition on my hard drive external library. Imports I've done since located it on a drive to FAT32 format are the only ones not corrupt, all the previous pictures and videos are the affected.
Ive tried all repair and reconstruction of the library, but in vain...
When you view the images corrupt and videos in the library of Photos, they do not load. However video thumbnails always indicate the length of the videos, and when I right click on-> get info-> the file indicates this is the original size that is 66 MB. However, in the record master, right click-> get info on any corrupted photo or video - size indicates zero byte.
Since I have my library iPhotos and photos on an external hard drive, I have no backup Time Machine from them. I know it's a very stupid mistake to copy the library to FAT32, but I was not aware of the risks.
Any help, clarification of my question, etc. would be so so appreciated.
Thank you all.
Unfortunately, you have used a disk in the wrong format and will not work
If your library will not work and you have no backup (that's another really bad decision) then you have what you have - the bet you can make is to create a new library, Hold down the option key key by running Photos and create a new library) to a correct formatted drive (the pictures library must be on a volume formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) is directly related to a fast wired connection like USB, FireWire, or stroke, must always be available before photos being launched and cannot be used as a time Machine backup voume - and of course it needs to be backed up someway - Time Machine is a good way
Once yu have a library on a correct volume brake the low library to this volume, right-click and view the contents of packaging - copy the masters foder to the disk and their important pictures in the masters record for the new library

Photo Gallery can't open photo
Hi, I have a problem just downloading a photo on my digital camera. When I plug my camera into my computer, the thumbnail for that one particular photo does not load, and when I try to view the picture I get the "Photo Gallery can't open this photo or video. This file format is not supported, or you do not have the latest updates for Windows Gallery"error. I tried the option 'Open with', and it will always open in Paint, Word, Picture Manager, etc..
I tried on several PC and facing the same problem.
However, the photos can be viewed on the display of the camera without problem. Also, all my other photos load very well.
Can anyone help with this?

In Windows XP I could manually move or rearrange a picture in the same folder "Photo" by drag-and - drop. I could also move a photo or photos from one folder to another by right-clicking and choosing Move To instruction. I don't understand how to do these tasks with Windows 7. Any help would be appreciated.
GeneOK, I see how it is possible. You must have a list of my pictures folders in a pane and pictures of an individual folder in another part. Then, you can drag a photo selected to a folder in the list. Not the most effective as in XP, but it works.
