CPU/GPU question

So I installed a new processor (Intel Core i7 - 4820 K CPU @ 3.70 GHz) and now my GPU (not GTX 780 Ti superclocked), heats up very quickly. All my drivers are up to date. Could this be a power supply problem? My PC is an Aurora R4 btw.

Alienware-Naomi

38 c is normal and does not indicate that there is a problem of overheating or power.

You should also check the temperatures during stress (landmarks, demanding games or running applications) and monitor any kind of performance problems.

The problem has been resolved. I didn't downgrade vanilla ti no 780. And now it works very well, regardless of the stress that I put on it. Thanks to everyone for their help!

  • [W510] crashes during use heavy CPU/GPU | possible overheating

    Hello

I have a problem with W150 6 - week old I am just unable to provide. I tried a fairly recent game to test the hardware capabilities of my new camera. However, when running this game, it crashes at irregular intervals.

    MACHINE:

    ThinkPad W510, 4389-W1B Type

    Intel i7 Q70

    nVidia Quadro FX 880 M

    4 GB OF RAM

    Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

    SETTING:

The game in question is 'Mass Effect' (2008) with graphics almost maxed out settings (720 p and maximum of details). The machine has all the latest drivers and BIOS installed.

    BEHAVIOR:

The machine is appearently under a heavy load of CPU/GPU with the fan at the highest speed. The causes of the accident the screen go blank and feeding the machine in less than a second after a short hard disk activity. The time until the machine hangs when running the game differs between 3 to 30 minutes.

    COMMENTS:

I installed the tools, namely TPFanControl and SpeedFan temperature monitoring. The CPU does not get like 80 degrees Celsius, the temperature of the GPU also doesn't exceed 80 degrees Celsius. The accident occurs only with this game of 3D acceleration. However, it is the most demanding game I posses. The question seems to be temperature related since it usually takes much more time to plant the device switching on after a long time being turned off, or in a cooler environment.

    SO FAR THE TESTS:

I have run several tests of stress on the machine, namely of Prime95 (max CPU temperature: 86), FurMark (CPU: 85, GPU: 80 c) and 3DMark. All passed without accidents (when running for about 1,5 hour maximum). I got the latest nVidia drivers installed, as well as the latest graphics drivers approved by Lenovo. I tried other games with resolution 1080 p and maxed out settings, but the accident only with "Mass Effect".

    CONCLUSION DATE:

Like many, I can tell, when you run the game, CPU or GPU become warmer than during the stress tests. Nevertheless, the problem "seems" related to temperature. The fact that I don't have to plant with any other game machine or a stress test makes me assume that Mass Effect is just wrong with Windows 7 or the material. However, to my knowledge, bad code or bad drivers do not cause such a crude system shutdown.

Well, I really don't know what o think about it. I don't want to make use of Lenovo support, unless it is really an anomaly in the system. I would need to get along without my laptop for 2 weeks, which is a long time in view of the fact that it is my primary work machine.

So my questions to the community are:

    1. is it possible that this is a temperature related problem after all? Despite the positive stress test?

2 is it possible that these accidents are caused by bad drivers or bad programs?

    Tips are greatly appreciated...

I don't think it's an overheating problem, it is more likely a software/driver problem or a hardware problem. I am inclined to think that it is the last.

The system should go in a judgment of thermal overload until less than 95 degrees. 80 degrees is on the beach of normal operation for the GPU and the CPU temperature when loading at 100% load.

Try to disable the Turbo mode, also have you tried to perform a test on the ram?

In addition, update a bios may be a good idea if you don't have it already done.

  • Final output rendering: CPU vs CPU + GPU

    Hallo,

I would use my Nvidia GPU to speed up the rendering of the final output of the projects of Premiere Pro and After Effects to Adobe Media Encoder. Now as far as I know, which allows the GPU acceleration for rendering of the final output in the AMEncoder really accelerating him process significantly. But I have a question about the quality of the production. The addition of acceleration GPU has an influence on the quality of the final result make? I read on some for a comment indicating that only using the CPU for the final rendered result gives results of superior quality, then when using the CPU + GPU acceleration combined? But on some other blogs I actually found that adding statements to process the two GPU speeds up the time required (becomes much faster), and actually increases the quality of the result final render?

Does anyone know if there is a difference in quality between CPU vs CPU + GPU rendering to final output? I'm working on a 64 bit Windows 7 computer)

    Thanks in advance,

    Sebastiaan

GPU accelerated export is expected to equal or exceed the software quality in all cases

  • iMac restarts after 5 minutes of the heavy load of CPU/GPU and noisy fan

    Hello

My iMac (late 2012 if I remember) restarts when under heavy load for a while.

I work a lot with Final Cut Pro X.

Whenever I have add clips in an event, Final Cut allows you to copy and then transcode and analyze the clips, and this task's CPU/GPU intensive (Final Cut Pro X uses OpenCL, where CPU/GPU). After a few seconds, the iMac fan begins to be really strong and seems to reach its maximum speed.

Then, after a few minutes of this heavy burden, the iMac simply restarts, and the fan slows down and stop. After the reboot, everything is back to normal, with the exception of the warning illustrated by Mac OS X, who said that the closure was not planned.

I'm sure that this behavior is not normal. I don't see why a computer should reboot/crash when under heavy load.

Note: you can also, to transcode some clips or movies I used the excellent software called Handbrake, using CPU only encoder ffmpeg, and I don't remember having accidents even if the CPU has been loaded and FAN running loud too. So maybe it has something to do with GPU?

How can I understand what is happening?

    Thank you very much.

    Hey there, I am looking to upgrade the RAM and CPU/GPU on my G6 Pavilion. Here's my current characteristics;

    Laptop model: HP Pavilion G6 - 2217cl

    Operating system: Windows 10 family (x 64)

Current RAM: 6 GB (used 2 slots)

CPU/GPU: AMD A8 - 4500 APU with Radeon HD graphics card

What are the possibilities should I upgrade?

If more information is needed, I'll be happy to provide.

It supports up to 8 GB of memory and the processor can be upgraded to a 10 - 4600M. Here is the Manual:

    Manual

There is no video card to upgrade, but for the models of series AMD A video is contained in the processor itself and an upgrade of the processor also carries with it an upgrade for HD 7640 G HD 7660 G video. It's light but a bit noticeable and clock speed go from 2.8 ghz to 3.2 ghz, which is not huge but noticeable. Memory is a DDR3-1600 module, and you can replace your 2 gig with a 4 gig to spend 6 to 8.

Memory upgrade is as easy as... CPU/APU don't upgrade not so much.

  • Satellite A300 - CPU & GPU upgrade questions

    Hello everyone!

    I have a satellite A300-1 to 9 (Intel Core 2 Duo T8300, Ati 3650, lcd WXGA 1280 * 800, 2 discs hard etc.) running Windows XP + SP3 + utility Toshiba etc...

    These are my questions...

    (1) can I upgrade the CPU Core 2 Duo P8400?
(I know that T8300 and P8400 use the same socket)

    (2) can I put my screen WXGA (1280 x 800) with a WXGA + (1400 * 900) or WSXGA + (1680 * 1050)?
How will this affect the battery consumption?

    (3) having the computer plugged (a/c power), when I close the lid, the computer goes into sleep mode.
When I open the lid, the computer wakes.
Unfortunately, the computer is running on battery power is not the case... I opened the lid and nothing happens,
I have to press the power button for pc to wake up...

    can I fix?

    Thanks in advance...

Satellite A300's newest model of laptop and I wonder how you feel about this hardware upgrade after so little time to use.
In General, these upgrades are probably possible, but certainly not supported by Toshiba.
In other way such radical update as a poster of upgrade is absolutely not logical for me. You probably know how expensive these parts are.

In my opinion, should you sold your laptop and buy new with exact material you like to have.

What about the last question? Please check all settings in the control panel and make sure that you have chosen the right option when the notebook is on battery or plugged in.

The title explains it all really, when has left for an extended period of time there is a significant increase of the time that it takes to open programs.

    Hello

    Thanks for the update.

    Please refer to these methods:

Method 1: I ask you to start the computer in Mode safe mode and check if the problem occurs.

Safe mode is an option of troubleshooting for Windows that starts your computer in a limited State, with internet access. Only basic files and drivers needed to run Windows are started.

Follow the link below to learn how to do it.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/is-is/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Method 2: Restore the system to a point before that the problem occurred.

    System restore
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/products/features/system-restore

Important: System Restore will return all system files not as documents, email, music, etc., to a previous state. These files of types are completely affected by the restoration of the system. If it was your intention with this tool to recover a deleted file to non-system, try using a file instead of system restore recovery program.

Note: it is advisable to back up your data to be on the safer side.

Please get back to us with the State of the question.

  • CPU, GPU or RAM?

I just bought a Sony Vaio E series with the i5 430 m CPU, Integrated GPU and 4gigs of ram. When I saw my first projects, my CPU always work 99 to 100%, then my RAM is only about 60-70%.
