CR2 files problem

Elements 9 will open with my Canon EOS20D cr2 files but will not open the cr2 files created with my Canon EOS5D mark iii.  Error messages says it "cannot open because it's the incorrect file type."

You need the current version updated to cab 7.3 items or you can convert the new CR2s in DNG camera with the new DNG 7.3 Converter: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

  • New to Lightroom, import of raw CR2 files problem.

I am new to Lightroom and can't import my raw CR2 photo files. In the section "import", I select my SD card that contains the raw image files. All the map .jpeg files appear as thumbnails, but the CR2 files show "extract not available for this file. I select one of the thumbnails CR2 anyway, select a folder on my external hard drive and click on "import". A window pops up that says: "this file is not recognized by the format of raw support in Lightroom." I use Lightroom 4.4 and works with a Windows Vista operating system (on a laptop old, junky). My camera is a Canon 70 d and am shooting in RAW + JPEG. I also downloaded the Adobe software. DNG Converter 6.3 to try to convert the files before importing them into Lightroom and it is also not recognizing and import my CR2 files. Don't know what to do at this point. Any suggestions?

I would recommend download DNG Converter 8.2 which is compatible with Vista.

  • Problem with CR2 files to JPEG conversion

Hello. I have a new digital camera Im using. When I load the photos on my computer Im having to convert the CR2 photo in jpeg format in order to open them. I use Windows to do this. At first it was working fine. I went to the file to make a copy and then save to a different file name and move to the jpeg format, press save. He did it for the first two. Now I am receiving and error message that it cannot save the file. I tried to do a repair program (did not work) I tried simply restart the computer, then it will save 1 then the same message. I have a great project to do, and I need to understand something! Please please if you have a solution. Thank you very much... FYI... I'm sorry if I do not use excellent conditions but I am not a geek, then try to explain to a user of the window for a model :)

Your device is set to use prorietary format known as CR2 Canon RAW image. Without getting too technical, the RAW images have the advantage of being 'more real' image by your cameras sensor. It's perfect for the professional/amateur photographers, but it is not necessary for the average user of camera RAW files have the disadvantage of being larger than JPEG files, and unsupported without additional software of Windows and many programs.

If you are by far the best solution would be to set your camera to capture photos in JPEG/JPG format instead - on average check Manual of your cameras on the way to do (it must be simple). In this way, all your photos will be in JPEG/JPG format and will have no problem comaptibility on Windows (or probably anywhere else).

If you want to use CR2 files, see whether your device is supported on this Microsoft Camera Codec Pack:

  • Last LR update multiple problems with the Canon CR2 files

    Hi team

I need to let you know about a problem of GUI which is performing production and publishing workflows using LR after the last update of the main users.

First LR kept crashing with Nikon nef import, it was more come with updated check & update, however the files seem to be flaky, sometimes more than 5 minutes to make the 1 / 1 or 100%, that using a MacBook Pro with the Retina display that normally does in less than a second because of the acceleration of the graphics card shows me that there must be a bug.

You can check your code against the latest OS from Apple, as it has also been updated last week, I noticed that the preview opening on RAW with the Apple OS is slower, so it could be Apple, if you use their codecs.

Second, I use both Nikon, Canon and Fuji Photo in RAW, The Cannon is having major issues that basically stop me to be able to make adjustments, incorrect proportions basically each function seems to pile up and stoppage of work of LR, I optimized and revived, all work on the other PC files that haven't been updated. I also noticed that when I select 6 or 8 to indicate color flags keeps the last notification of action on the screen.

    Can analyze you.

    Camera model: EOS 7 d CR2

An example of this is that if I select the GREEN labels bar image does not reduce to show only the GREENS.

    Example 1.jpg

    Hi team

Another updated. I solved my LR 15.2.1 problems and seems to work fine now.

Advice for anyone with GUI main questions LR 15.2.1 running on Apple MacBook Pro retina edition 2013 with Apple El Capitan in what concerns the CR2 files. The symptoms started after the upgrade of 15.2 CC.

OS X Symptoms: Finder related - if you have slow full resolution display in the finder, it is to say select a RAW (not jpeg) image & press SPACEBAR to preview image, if the image is about 15 to 25 MB & if it takes more than 20-30 seconds to load the full resolution with excellent clarity or you get the Gables of rendering then it's maybe that your library caches are chocked.

Symptoms of Adobe LR: LR 15.2.1 - GUI does not, collage, inadmissible on files CR2 once the file cache has been read or changes.

Depending on how clean your machine is ie Contact AppleCare to help you to clear the data in System & User Library Cache, then perform a HDD of first aid with OS X Utilities.

Restart your computer, and then try again, the Finder preview my now taken 10-15 seconds to make it complete, which is normal for such a large file. Also somehow clean the cache has significantly improved the LR15.2.1 as well.

Regarding LR 15.2.1 CR2 files read better again, and I can see updates in near real-time. Watch also the son for GPU issues performance as well, as I mine off, restarted LR & closed completely to the bottom of the laptop and rebooted again allowing the GPU box and who can to help also.

As a result of slower Finder preview rendering, to solve this problem, I can re - install El Capitan to still solve my problems if I want, however I decided of don't not at this point, simply because of the risk & maybe needing a full hard reinstall, which mean the loss of data, and I don't want that, without making a backup first. I am happy to continue to work as it is until I had time to backup and make the full re-install, what I'll do in my local AppleStore...

Sorry not clearly answer my own resolution or steps to follow, but one or more of them have seriously helped me today... so I hope this helps others too facing the same or similar issue

  • Problems to open CR2 files in CS2

I have CS2 and have always been able to open the RAW files produced by my OlympusC5050. I now have a Canon S95 and photoshop does not open the CR2 files it produces. After some research, I downloaded a DNG Converter and used this. However, the results are far from good, resulting a very grainy image.

    Hi Jane,

Your put questions on why the Canon S95 is noisier than the Olympus C5050.   There seems to be several factors:

First of all, there are more pixels on the sensor of the S95, so each pixel is a little smaller, and one stray electron of the noise is a percentage more high maximum value of pixels each additional electron noise will appear a bit more highlight; However, in my view, there are the most important differences between your shots of Olympus green-water and your blue Cannon shots - water:

Because the eye is more sensitive to green, photo sensors are designed to have twice as much green as red or blue pixels, so your green shots will have much more detailed that mask the noise.  In addition, when you balance of a blue more often turned to one that has more red, there is very little red at first, so no noise in the Red is magnified by several times and even with the blue, although that perhaps not quite as well.

If you have a blue shot or a green shot with two cameras, so it would be easier to say what proportion of the increase in noise is due to the color of the light and how is something else.

Anyway, I test to see if the format Conversion DNG using ACR 2.4 compatibility had nothing to do with whatever it is, and it doesn't seem to change what the image looks like, so it's not a factor.

The main problem is that you're using CS2 and ACR 3.x which has the original Adobe raw conversion algorithm (and the worst), now known as process Version 2003.  Two Version of process have been since then: process Version 2010 increased the resolution of the raw conversions so that changing how work in general sharpness and noise reduction and process Version 2012 has added a new way to tone (Lighten/Darken/contrast/etc) images is easier to use once you get used to it.

To illustrate the difference, here's one-by-side, which shows that the way CS2 does things left and the latest way 7/8 ACR or LR 4/5 path on the right, where you will see a more coarse texture and more noise by using the way of CS2 and a finer texture and less noise using the latest methods - click on the embedded image to see larger :

In my opinion, the noise in the image on the left is too, and noise in the right image is deleted too, but I wanted to show how the values of 50% each slide.

What about your computer and the version of LR.  Googling the number of brand and model that you gave and find a 2011 used-computer-to-sell listing with the specifications of the system, it seems that your computer is a Core2Duo with a processor clocked at 1.8 GHz and 1 or 2 GB of memory and you said Vista.  The new version of LR you can run on Vista is LR 4.x that might still be available on Amazon (to the United States at least), but you'd have a good snap up a lot more recent computer and LR 4 or 5 LR on it.  As a kind of i5 or i7 quad-core with at least 8 GB of memory.  It would be a few hundred dollars and a little extra if it's a laptop instead of a desktop computer with the same capabilities.  Make sure you get one with a screen of at least 768 size or maybe it's 800 or 900 pixels high, so you can see all the buttons on the bottom.

Even if you think that, if you want to test how your current computer would work with the newest LR will run on it, you can download the LR 4.4.1 update and run in trial mode for 30 days, by how much you had or do you buy or abandon it.  Here's the LR for Windows download links - click on LR 4.4.1 a:

  • Stange whitebalance problem with CR2 files

    Hello

Ive been taking som underwaterphotos with my canon 50 d. However, it seems that there are problems with the cab to be able to interpret the CR2 or DNG file.

The photos have a green tint that I am unable to get rid.

If I treat the CR2 file in the converter of canons DPP, everything seems perfect.

I have no idea why this is. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is a link to a CR2 file so that you look at.

    And here's a DNG:

    www.animato.dk- IMG_9116.zip

Ive posted this problem in lightroomforums but it seems that it is a matter of ACR.

    http://www.lightroomforums.NET/index.php?topic=7879.0

    Thanks for your help

The problem is that the WB in ACR scale extends as far down as needed. However, all is not lost because you can use the DNG Profile Editor format to extend the timescale. • 5 d mark II raw (CR2) file is different from the 5 d CR2 file? Adobe Camera Raw error on mk II No 5 d

I use the plugin Photoshop Camera Raw (Adobe) to preprocess the colors, and then complete the prepare image in Photoshop.  Never a problem with opening files CR2, usually from my own camera 5 d.  But a customer sent a few files CR2 which opens not (error says this is bad kind of document).  So far no explanation nor patches from users of Photoshop... thought I would ask experts to Canon.  Why file CR2 from the 5 d mk II fail but 5 d CR2 files all open ok?

Still using Photoshop CS2 and the plugin Camera Raw is 3.7 v.  I really want to continue this workflow (works for me), prefer not to experiment with dpp or other opportunities.  Not ready to move yet to Photoshop CS6.

No, CR2 (and all files camera RAW manufacturer) are modified somewhat for pretty much every version of the camera.  Similarly, manufacturers of software like adobe are always updated their software for the new models.  Your version of Adobe Camera Raw is extremely old, so that it can not read the 5 d 2 files.  And Adobe limited backward compatibility, so I don't know if you can load a sufficiently recent version to recognize the 5 d 2 files.  If you can't, then you're only choice would be to use the Adobe DNG Converter, convert batch files to DNG, the 5 d 2 then read those.

  • Issues of Lightroom import of cr2 files

Recently, we went on vacation to Europe where I downloaded a cr2 file folder on my laptop of cousins in lightroom. I've never played change them but I export them on my hard drive. I am now trying to import them into lightroom on my laptop and lightroom tells me there is no file to show but there are all appearing in the shadows in the background, everything is not accessible. Any ideas on how to solve this problem by any chance? Cheers Chris

This means that photos have already been imported into Lightroom, and there is no need to import them again. Just go in the library Module, find pictures and use them in any way you want (editing, printing, electronic mail, etc.)

Another thread has proposed to change the permissions on the folder of "read/write, but change the permissions to write the solution did not work." I have even converted the CR2 files to DNG with the adobe DNG Converter, synced my file and it acknowledges at the start files, but when you select Import, it gives the same extensible error-

I also deleted the file .plist permission with the same result.

I'm on MacOS 10.7.5 (my 32-bit system will work later) and the use of LR 5.7, later this operating system is running.

I don't understand what has changed suddenly causing this problem, it worked fine last week.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As I said in the other thread, changing permissions did not work because (a mistake very frequent), you have changed the permissions on the wrong file. Show us screenshots of the section permissions on this specific folder and Destination of the import dialog box.

  • Lightroom CC & DNG Converter cannot open the CR2 files, but Photoshop CC can?

    Hi guys,.

I have a problem with raw on this computer files and I can't understand why. I can open my. In Photoshop CC CR2 files, but the same files are not readable by Lightroom or Adobe DNG converter. Lightroom says "files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom", and the converter DNG said "source folder contains no raw files of any supported camera."

All software is updated to the date of this post. The. CR2 files come out a cannon 80 d and a Canon 7 d and are not corrupt (as evidenced by the fact that Photoshop has no problem to open). Other raw files that have been imported directly from cameras, or that were copied from the camera memory cards a different machine, then transferred to the machine in question were very well. Other machines have no problem with those files, either. It is something specific to the software installed on this machine and how it is configured, and I'm at a loss as to what could be the cause of it.

At one point, app Windows photo was accidentally set as default application to open CR2 files. This may have been when the problem started, but I can't say for sure. Whatever it is, this problem has been fixed; Lightroom is now set as the default application for CR2 files. The machine was also installed on CaptureOne (since it is uninstalled) and he had the same problems with these raw files.

Before you reinstall Windows, someone at - it suggestions?

Suggest your Camera Raw (used by Photoshop, but not Lightroom) is 9.5.

In Lightroom, click Help > topic. Must they be 2015.5.1 if you are up-to-date. You need at least 2015.5 for 80 d files.

    The. CR2 files come out a cannon 80 d and a Canon 7 d

You mean the 7 D Mark II? The 7 d is an old camera since 2009.

I have a sizey problem and have never used forums but I tried everything so here Let's go!

Usual method of copying the CR2 files:

    Canon 5 d mkiii

Legit Sandisk 16 gb card CF Extreme
Copies files to an end 2013 27 "iMac.

    Problem:

The files seem to have corrupted somehow, I can see only about 30 pictures through the camera LCD screen, the rest came with a question mark.
The CF card is identified by the mac there is no file there, but in 'get info' of the CF, he says it's a PCI full height.

    Tried:

I tried using different card readers.

I tried to copy the files on the SD card placed on the form of the computer, the SD - the files are there and they are the correct normal file size but there is no overview and the file is non-working in several programs.

I tried to format the SD card and using "rescue card" to bring their return but the same problem occurs.

I contacted a specialist and he said he'll try and get back them for $300 if recoverable and $0 if nothing is salvageable...

I wonder if any legend out there can share some information to this rare case... the pictures are for a client and it's quite stressful.

    Much appreciated!

    Dunc.

    Problem with CR2 files.

Clearly the data on your memory card is corrupted, and maybe it's the card, itself, is damaged physically/electronically.

If the various photo recovery programs can't see the image data, so he card is probably bad and the images are lost.  If only the directory on the card information are poorly written, but the images are accessible on the map, if you knew where the data were, so perhaps an image recovery program that recognizes your camera raw photos, would be able to find other photos.  Since now you have formatted your card, certain directory information has been deleted, so only a program that recognizes the images would be of no use.

I suggest using as many photo recovery programs as you can, to see if any of them find thumbnails of images more than the 30 or so you saw originally and then try to recover with those.  If no other program recovery find more photos and images probably aren't there anymore, because the electronic memory card is damaged.  Usually photo recovery programs will scan and show you the htumbnails of images for free, but you pay for actually saving off the recovered images.  It could very well be that the programs are able to recover the integrated preview jpg files but not the raw data.  The built-in preview JPGs are better than nothing.

Some high end cameras have two slots for cards and you can have the camera write the same image in each of the two memory cards where one of the cards goes wrong.  What you're saying, that you must not have has your camera set up in this way.

    Hello

After exhausting all other options I finally managed to fix in any first uninstall Lightroom, by removing the corrupt catalog and then by removing completely all Lightroom of the whole registry keys. Restarted my PC and reinstalled LR6 a moment while it is important to the photos again, it finally loads cr2 files correctly, only a little slow now that it is always important to photographs (it takes about 7 hours), but I am sure that the problem is resolved.

    Thank you for your support

This is because more than likely than external is formatted in format Windows NTFS and you had a utility installed in your earlier version of Mac OS X that could write in NTFS formatted disks and the update of El Capitan deleted this utility. OS X can read NTFS disks natively, but impossible to write in this format. You must update this utility a version that works with El Capitan.
