CRS and AP

Hi all

I had installed two-node RAC 11.2.0.3 in virtual box

According to oracle articles we can to stop/start the cluster in two ways

1 crsctl stop crs 1. crsctl start crs

2 crsctl stop cluster 2. crsctl has

crsctl stop a crsctl start cluster

For me, when I start the a with the command (Start crsctl has), the entire cluster has been started without giving the command crsctl start cluster , I need to know if a will start the entire cluster, then what is the difference between beginning crsctl and crsctl start crs

Concerning

Rami

Hello

'crsctl start a' is valid in Oracle Restart environment.

For RAC you start the cluster with "crsctl start cluster [-all the |]» -n ]"

  • Confusion on the CRS and the IPCC

    Hello

Can someone tell me what the difference is when between CRS and IPCC express. I think they're both packages of programs. IPCC express includes CTI ACD IVR but CRS includes IPCC IQM IVR. is this correct.? CRS includes a version of the full IPCC?

    CRS = IPCC Express.

Cisco crossed a few names of marketing before arriving at the IPCC Express.

IPCC Express has 3 levels of functionality controlled by licensing:

Standard - full IVR/ACD... call base and collect.

Enhanced - Std more skills based routing and much more

Premium - integration Std, Enchd, as well as DB for self-service applications (think Bank on the type of phone apps).

  • What is different between CRS and CRSd?

RHi dears. I read some tutorial on oracle RAC. Unfortunately, I don't understant difference between CRS and CRSd. could someone explain please?

process is the name of the program (crsd.bin) OS (CRS) Service-related. When you start the service (crsctl start crs) CRS, it start crsd process, then launch other processes (for example: ocssd.bin, octssd,...). As when you start the database Service (Instance), he start several background process (pmon, smon,...)

    Bytes

    Hello

'crsctl start crs' and new setting on 11.2 "crsctl start cluster" both have the same result?

We can say not having the same result.

crsctl power crs - manage start/stop the entire stack of Oracle Clusterware on one node, including the OHASD process, this command should be used only on the local node.

crsctl power cluster - managing start/stop battery Oracle Clusterware on the local node if you do not specify either - all or n and the remote nodes if option-n or - all be specified, NOT including the OHASD process. You cannot start and stop clusterware stack without running OHASD process.

Despite crsctl power crs manage all Oracle Clusterware stack on the local node crsctl power crs not allow you to manage the remote nodes, unlike crsctl power cluster which allows to manage all nodes, but if the process of KARINE is runing.

To manage Oracle Clusterware battery on remote nodes, the ohasd (Oracle high availability Services Daemon) should run on all managed nodes. (ie using crsctl start cluster - n , )

So, if you try use crsctl start cluster node1 - n, node2 and node1 your local node and node1 or node2 OHASD don't not running this command will be fails.

    Hello

You want to point living CRS and Standalone CRS on the same Cisco CallManager? If so, yes you certainly can point several CRS to CCM. But, you need a different configuration for each CRS Server profile. Profile repository can be shared between the two CRS servers.

  • How Oracle Clusterware Oracle RAC and 3rd-party Clustering with them

I have some questions on how Oracle, Oracle RAC and 3rd party clustering CLusterware fit between them.

Q1. My understanding is that the Infrastructure Grid Oracle Clusterware is Oracle's Clustering solution that allows applications to cluster? that is, it is a general clusterware solution to compete with those already on the market. Is this correct?

Q2. So why CARS is necessary for the Oracle cluster databases? An Oracle database is not just considered one application like any other? So why can not just use you GI / Clusterware to gather what you would do for any other application? Why so you need RAC to the Clusterware Summit?

Q3. Is it is possible to combine an Oracle database using 3rd party of clustering and not use Oracle Clusterware and CARS at all that is can you say cluster, an Oracle database using say Sun Clusters, Clustering AIX or Linux native same clustering?

Q4. If the RAC is purely for Oracle Cluster databases - what is with the title "Real Application Clusters"? What's real on this subject?, what to ask?

Q5. I also read that RAC can use 3rd party of clustering. However if you decide that this is the case, then you need to install Oracle Clusterware when even (I think for interconnection must be created to allow the merger with Cache between Instances of node?).

Is this the case?  If yes why never bore you with 3rd party clusters? -Since you will have to install Oracle Clustering anyway - and I probably have to license (all I can think about is the scenario that you already have a cluster of 3rd party in place and you decide that you need to use the same material for a database cluster)?

    All wisdom greatly appreciated,

    Jim

Yes, with 10g, you had to use the CRS, and with 11g, to use the GI.  For 9i RAC, you would use Verits Cluster and Sun Cluster or anything else.

11g RAC to GI.  As above, you can use clusterware extra if needed.  I gave the example above where to a 10g RAC we used the CRS to the cluster database/listener/vip and allowing groups of volume and filesystem in HACMP cluster.  File systems were not shared, but could switch to another node failure node, who has been treated by HACMP.  The volume of the groups containing the raw devices were shared volume groups.  For 11g, I never used extra clusterware on top of CRS and have always used ASM which is part of the GI.

The application provider only certified database to run on 10g on AIX with raw devices.  What is strange about that?  It would be unusual that you probably expect to use ASM instead of raw devices, but it is what it is.

See the following Note of Oracle for more information: using Oracle Clusterware with vendor Clusterware FAQ (Doc ID 332257.1)

It is perhaps easier to explain if you can explain what problem you are trying to solve?

I have a RAC12c Installation and you want to delete or uninstall and do a fresh install.

With 10g RAC simply paralyze the crs and and manual removal... etc.

Someone can provide the best measures to do this or note metalink.

    Hello

Please refer to the below document mentioned for the same

    1. check the file/etc/inittab and remove the entry for the crs in this document, which is the end of the file.
    2. can find scripts like he's etc/init.d/init.*.  It will show you the 3 files like crsd, cssd, evmd. Delete this file.
    3. search for he 's/etc/ora *. you will get an oracle directory and a file orainst.loc remove both.
And then start the new installation.
  • CRS 10.1 with short 3.1.1 - category pages do not work

    Hello

I installed and configured ATG 10.1 with CRS and short 3.1.1 with the help of the CIM.

I've done necessary installation sites and agents in CA and has done a lot of deployments to CRS sites (I have Sir: staging.)
I also made indexing of the manual search (the initial Index) of components/atg/commerce/short/index/ProductCatalogSimpleIndexingAdmin/who completed successfully.

Two CRS works, with the exception of the category pages. If I click on the link for example of the category or subcategory e.g. pants women, I get page not found Page with this description:
"Sorry, the resource you are looking for is not found. It may have been moved to a new location. Please use the search bar or the navigation links to locate the resource. "

Product and other pages to work OK - I can add it to the cart and start the extraction.

Examples of links to the category of the src, not sure if they are correct or not, I expected to profile different, but not sure:

    8180/src/storeus/browse? N = 10097
    8180/src/storeus/browse? N = 10143

    Any help will be appreciated.

  • The vote and the migration of the ocr

    DB 11.1.0.7 HP Ux

We have the vote/OCR which lie on a raw disk to new raw disks to storage.
Currently we symlink fronm the nodes pointing to the divided vote and ocr raw disks.

The current plan is to close the CRS and backup the voting disk and OCR for new disks. (using the dd command)
Change the soft link on all nodes on the disks again, to which the current vote/ocr disk are saved.

    This approach works?

    Hello

If you gave copies for the duration of the installation and which is listed in

    # ocrcheck

    and

    # crsctl query css votedisks

Yes it will work. (Because SD has been the tool proposed for the safeguarding of the 11.1 Votedisk anyway, and for the ROC, you can make the backup with dd as well, especially if the clusterware is stopped).

    Hi volunteers,.

Due to a hardware problem, image of our entire cluster of the CARS had to be taken and replicated on different machines (node 2 CARS)

crsctl check crs showing all be healthy.
    $ crsctl check crs
    Cluster Synchronization Services appears healthy
    Cluster Ready Services appears healthy
    Event Manager appears healthy
But none of the resources were in an online state in the output of crs_stat.
The local file system hosting the ORACLE_HOME and CRS_HOME were showered themselves mysteriously. 2 to 3 GB in 1-2 minutes!

I remember to remove core files dump, .aud, ASM, the CRS and RDBMS directories .trc files.

When I tried to start ASM using sqlplus or using srvctl, I got the below error
    srvctl start asm -n brcfrac214

Later Solaris Admin discovered that the hostname (for node1) has been configured incorrectly (misspelled in a config file!)
Go back to correct the host name more reboot fixed the problem.

    1.
Why "crsctl check crs' output showed everything to be in good health despite a serious question?

    2.
What would be the first few things that you would look for when no resources in crs_stat are online?

    3.
Should I find any irregularities in the ps output ef below?
    ps -ef | grep "init\."

Binary Oracle Clusterware and Oracle ASM are installed as a single binary called the grid infrastructure. So, if you have downloaded Grid Infrastructure you already have installation of CRS and ASM.
All software downloads are free, and most come with a developer license which allows you to use full versions of the products without charge while developing and prototyping your applications, or for purposes strictly self-educational.

  • Moving Cluster to new data center and move ASM Lun

    Hello

My question is for an upcoming project. We want to grow our three existing node on our other data Center cluster. Servers will be moved and would re - ip, but Oracle, CRS and ASM houses remain intact.

We have our ASM on EMC Clariion disks. The idea is to use EMC Replication Manager to replicate the LUNS on EMC Clarion in the other data center and to present them to the cluster.

My question is if it looks like a valid plan, or I think to simplistic?

Will keep it even replicated LUN the ASM disk identity and data in order to be recognized and available in start?

In addition, in order to minimize downtime, we want to move a single node of the cluster first, then others do appear later.

    Thanks for your opinions.

    Hello

To replicate ASMDISK success, all databases in the Diskgroup must be down or in backup mode.
Replication starts with the online database (IE database in backup mode hot) needs attention, because all data/redo/controlfile files will be copied in use (i.e. corrupt), be necessary will perform database recovery.
