CVI 2009 Build Distribution: create shortcuts

When I change the settings for Distribution to build, I want to install my application under C:\Program Files\myFactoryDir\myAppDir, so in the "Edit" window, I use the tab "Files" to change "Installation of files and directories" as I need.

So, I want to create the following shortcut:

[Start>>Programs]\myFactoryDir\myAppDir\myApp.exe

but I'm not able to specify "[start > programs] \myFactoryDir\myAppDir" as the Destination Directory (in the menu ring, only [start > programs] \myAppDir is available).

Is it possible to do in CVI 2009 (as I am used to doing with LabVIEW)?

In fact, please ignore the previous screenshot. Looks like I misunderstood where you want to place your shortcut. But it's even easier, then, since all you need to do is to rename the folder shortcut in the files tab:

  • "Value is invalid or out of range" when you build the project in CVI 2009

I converted a project to the wire of the CVI 9.0.1 to CVI 2009, and whenever I try to compile the distribution I get immediately the error message "Value is invalid or out of range" and stop the construction.  This error message is not too terribly useful to determine what the problem is, and I don't see anything obviously wrong with the signs of 'change the Installer '.  Any idea what's going on?  Thank you.

Well, I'm a little confused by what I see. The newspaper confirms my suspicions earlier that one of the values of timer progress cached version is cause of an error. However, the values in the file "TriboScan OFFLINE.cds" you posted appear very well and do not cause an error when I copy in .cds another simple distribution (since I do not have the files to test your actual building distribution). Are you sure that you build the 'TriboScan OFFLINE.cds' distribution? In any case, I recommend a little offending the .cds hand editing. Save first (just in case), open it in a text editor and delete everything between and (that should be all down). This should solve your problem.

Let me know what you find.

  • CVI 8.1 Distribution BUG

    CVI 8.1

    Dev 8.2.1 vision module

    Duration of the vision

I developed an application that uses the VDM to display the data of the material non-IMAQ.

A customer wants a copy of my application.

I bought the Vision run-time license to copy it.

There is a problem it's with the option of distribution under this rev of the CVI.

When I change the distribution and go the tab "Drivers & components" there is NO option

to add the duration of the Vision, while, on a system where I installed IMAQ, it correctly

presents itself. IMAQ machine has a framegrabber PCI-1426. But I can't create distribution

It because of a message "unknown error occurred" popup that kills the process.

I installed CVI and VDM (no IMAQ) on another computer temporarily to create the version but

It does not list the VDM.

Any ideas or is at - it another way to create a CVI with VDM distribution?

    Thanx.

    -Chet

This knowledge base explains how to deploy the runtime of Vision without installing IMAQ. It is written for LabVIEW users, but also applies to the CVI. The original versions of the Vision RTE 8.x installers did not support redistribution by CVI or LabVIEW distribution builders. The links in the article base knowledge to the Vision with this added support RTEs 8.x updates.

Regarding the "Unknown error" popup, if you can still run into it, could you please post a log of debugging for us to consider? To create one, bring up the distribution Editor dialog box, select the control tab (the dotted rectangle should be on one of the labels in the tab), press ctrl + shift + L, and then build your distribution. The output log is located in C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Temp\distBuildDbg.txt. We could then try to determine if this is a bug that has been fixed previously.

  • No installation option for CVI 2009 sdk

When you try to generate a dll from a project that was created (and works very well) with CVI 8.0 using functions winSDK (winInet.lib)

    with CVI 2009

I get "Redeclaration of FILETIME" errors. The winInet header and winInet.lib in the project are always the same found in the SDK for CVI 8.0. I couldn't find any Option to install some DVD SDK that installs CVI2009?

Are there Versions of cvi2009 that contain win SDK and others who do not?

Maybe a silly question, but I don't find any indication on this topic.

Resolved: Installation - Option "Win SDK" is now "Install Win32 API", which was excluded from my installation

  • building distribution is missing parts

    I'm using Labwindows CVI 2012 on Windows 7 x 64

I want to build a distribution that has need of my exe, shared CVI runtime engine and OR variable motor.

I have the full development of a download, unzipped CVI distribution on my local hard drive in C:\Archive\NationalInstriuments\LabWindows\CVI_2012.

The first time I have start building distribution, he asks where he can find a few extras of the DVD. This was resolved after referring to the unzipped above subdirectory.

Later during construction and with all the repeated tests, building starts but abandoned after an action with an error log. In the error log, it reports that missing a few parts for mxs.msi and mxs64.msi. It seems like the wrong subdirectory that does not exist on my hard drive: C:\Archive\NationalInstruments\Common\Products (the error log has been added).

The building is a subdirectory with a setup.exe and a bin subdirectory with the content. But try this Signals (as occur after the build error) errors.

Q: How can I solve this?

Can I update a row in a text file where these courses are defined?

I can add a subdirectory on my hard drive... and what files/tree what I put in it?

    Do you know another solution?

    PPPS

    He works (today).

I don't know what action (single or multiple) has solved my problems. I found communication engine, error, construction and setting Variable caching products. So I tried a lot, lost track of sequences, but finished with a work labwindows after:

-run the application as administrator (on the top of admin rights)

-Rename the file manifest and ProductCache-sub-directory for NOR engine Variable

-Labwindows build possibility shows the installer to select the source for this component

Possible information hidden corrupt or corrupt cached product. Possible problems with write access to the program files (x 86). Possible conflicts with all dependent drivers update... So, it can happen again. And it now works.

Therore or: If please look at the benefits and the contras a button to read about new product placed in cache (with demolition when the source is not found).

  • ThinApp does not create shortcuts

I have a program that I packed upward with thinapp, and all works perfectly.  The question I have creates shortcuts in the start menu for users.  The package is on a network server with the share accessible to all users.  I sign the package with a login script to GPO calling thinreg with line

    %LogonServer%\netlogon\files\thinreg.exe \\server\share\PBA\bin\*.exe

The application shows in Add/Remove programs so is saved correctly, however no shortcuts are appearing on the start menu.  I edited the build.ini to place shortcuts in %programs%\PBA as well as the default path (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Menu start\program) but when you browse these places that shortcuts do not appear in one of them.  How can I get these shortcuts to appear?

    Thank you

Please ensure that the threshold is added at the point of entry into the package.ini.

    Shortcuts=%programs%\PBA

  • Package does not create shortcuts (thinreg)

I'm trying to package the windows administrative tools and create the fine package, but when I sign with Thinreg I can't see the shortcuts in the start menu.  If I navigate to the startmenu folder I can see shortcuts and if I run them it runs the thinapp program.  Is it something simple, I'm missing here that I can create shortcuts on the desktop and they spread out very well but I obviously don't want cluttering up the desktop with all of these shortcuts.

    Thank you

To create a shortcut on the start menu, change the threshold in the package.ini for each EXE for

    Shortcuts = % admintools. %Select% programs

If you want to create several shortcuts for different EXE, you can create them in a folder in the start menu:

    Shortcuts=%AdminTools%;%programs%\FOLDERNAME

Rebuild the ThinApp running the build.bat file, delete no matter what tray existing sandbox and test.

  • CVI 8 has problems with the code of CVI 2009 - why?

I use NI CVI 2009 and thus programmed. Now, I bought 8 CVI and wants to continue programming. But CVI reports errors in the source code of the ICB 9 and I do not understand what is the problem?

    ...

What is the problem with this simple line of code that worked perfectly before?

Unfortunately the statements of variable length arrays is a feature of c99 is supported in CVI9, but probably not in version 8. If you use CVI8.5, you can try to add this pragma at the code and see if that fixes the problem, but according to this list of features posted by Luis, I'm not positive in this regard:

    Vincent,

Hello.  First of all, I wanted to mention that the NI GPIB library is not officially supported on systems time real LabWindows/CVI.  Your customers use it more in the earlier applications of CVI RT?  Can you tell me what features they use?

While the NI GPIB library is not officially supported in CVI RT, errors of link that you see in CVI 2009 were not intentional.  You can tell your customer to copy the file gpib.lib to the location of the CVI 9.0:

    \National Instruments\\bin\msvc\gpib.lib

    the location of CVI 2009:

    \National Instruments\\bin\msvc\gpib.lib

    This should fix the problem.

If your client has never repair or reinstall their installation of CVI 2009, they will have to make this change again.

We intend to fix this in the next version of LabWindows/CVI.

  • CVI 2009 errors when writing of hidden file

I recompiled a program in CVI2009 that was previously written in 9.0.  After doing so, the program will write is no longer in a text file and the value of the hidden attribute, CVI returns the error 'access denied '.  If I delete the hidden attribute the program works very well.  I forgot to put something or is it a matter of CVI 2009?

I remember having the same problem in versions prior to 2009.

Hidden attribute cache file from the search functions if this is how your code finds the file in text format.

You can use the SetFileAttrs function to display the file temporarily and then you can hide it again, if necessary.

    Hope this helps,

  • Create shortcuts to control in the structure of the event

I create a structure event with radio buttons dialog box.  Is it possible to create shortcuts to select each option button, similar to the underlined letter to windows?  I use a chain with keyfocus = true control to change the radio button selection, but when the user moves elsewhere, focus is lost.  Is it possible to set the focus without control of the chain in the case of delay of vote when the focus is lost?

Because it is universal... to capture the key event seems to be the best choice.  Mostly because I wouldn't give up my function & the tab order.  I also added a second table of char ASCII codes to search and manage shortcuts of capital letters.  Thank you!

  • Cannot compile the project in CVI 2009 which were previously opened in CVI 2010

This was extremely irrititating and does not know what the devil.  I have a computer with CVI 2010 and separated with CVI 2009.

I have a project and the CWS, which was established in 2009.

I opened and recompiled in CVI 2010 things since then, ensuring that I saved my .uir file in a CVI 2009 version or earlier.

I usually open the file .prj or .cws on my computer of CVI 2009, but trying to compile and run in debug mode, all of the CVI crashes.  How can I recompile and work with it on my computer of CVI 2009?

Am I missing something here?  Tehre are no error, warnings or reports of incidents, CVI righteous acts as I hit Alt + F4

  • the .c and .h files still open in CVI 9.0 even with CVI 2009 is installed

I had this problem for a while but have managed to live with her. Since I installed LabWindows/CVI 2009 my .c and .h files still open in LabWindows/CVI 9.0. all .cws, .fp, .uir and .prj files will open in 2009. I tried the files in "file types" remapping and even fiddled with the registry to try to get the .c and .h files to open with the correct version of the CVI. This has been without success.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

I found myself fixing entering into the registry and change the path to cvi.exe. He was always set the path to the executable file for CVI 9.0. That's what the types of files for .c and .h files were SEO even if I selected the executable file in 2009 of the CVI.

It seems that the path was never changed when I installed CVI 2009.

Do a search on "disk management". When you find it, click it,
but the right - drag on the desktop. When you release the mouse button,

    Hi Bradley Firt,.

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time it was working fine?
    3. The problem occurs on any item of start menu you click?
    4. You have security software installed on the computer?

    Method 1

Check if the problem persists in safe mode and after return with the result.

A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

    Method 2

If the problem does not persist in safe mode, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Method 3

I would also say that you scan the computer for malware infections or viruses.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

You can also use Microsoft Security databases to scan your computer
