Dead pixel on T440s with HD + IPS display

Hello Lenovo Community

Recently, I got my first computer laptop lenovo, the T440s. The overall quality of the casting is excellent and the performance is optimal. However, I realized that there is a dead on the screen pixel. I'm stilI in twenty-one-day return limit. wonder if I'm able to do an exchange for one without defect and not subject to a restocking fee?

Thank you

Currently, in the same area, dead pixels have spread to a length of 5 mm. It extends. There are three or four more white spots on the screen and an another couple dead pixels in another area. I think that is eligible for warranty replacement. I am able to receive screen and replace it myself due to fears that the technician can crack the case (what happened to the laptop from my friend)?

Laughing out loud

LCD screens are not considered CRUs (CRUS by) and can only be exchanged by a technician or service center on site if your computer has a warranty on the spot.

FWIW, I sent hundreds of ThinkPads to the filing of these past ten years and have never had a single one damaged.

YMMV.

Good luck.

    Hello
I have also this problem such as a freezing of the computer and the notification "driver Nvidia has stopped working". ". It's because of the display driver and we can nothing but just wait when Toshiba will broadcast a new, improved driver.
That it was a dead pixel, you can read about it here

It is for Lcd screens, but can also be applied to the display of the laptop

  • Dissatisfied (e) with the support of Toshiba due to dead pixel

Poetential beware buyers of Toshiba products. Toshiba offers very little support. All they do is try to weasel out of warranty repairs. After owning 14 computers laptop toshiba, for me and my company, I will never spend another dollar with Toshiba.

I have a custom P750. 10 days after receiving it, the motherboard fried. Instead of offering me a replacement unit, I had to wait several days for a box, mail it to the wide, wait for repairs and wait that they to return. I could not drop off at the local Toshiba repair shop. In fact, I could, but if I did, I would be responsible for the cost of repairs. I've no idea what logic there is for this, but there you go. After this test of three weeks, I finally got my machine.

Fast forward to this weekend. A pixel is grilled on my screen. My warranty is in 2 weeks. So to start the repair process. I'm amazed when the Lady informs me that Toshiba will not fix it. She says "we don't set the screens I have only pixel dead" and "a pixel does not affect the performance of the machine. Well forgive me, but of course it affects me looking at a black dot on my screen 24/7. I ask to speak to a supervisor, she put me on hold, comes back and tells me that she spoke with a "level 2 technician" who informed her that they wouldn't fix a screen with a pixel died. Again, I ask to speak to a supervisor, so she tells me that I will return a call.

An hour later, I get a call back from a "supervisor" who tells me that they will not set a screen with a dead pixel. I'm trying to explain to him, that pixel is the defective screen, and I want to fix under warranty. If I sell this machine, and someone asks me "Is there dead pixels?", I have to say Yes and lose money in the process. He still tells me "we don't set the screens for a pixel dead." While I try to explain which guarantees one is, he cuts me and told me he spoke with someone, and they determined that pixel is the result of physical damage and therefore not covered at all. ?!?!?

    Hi Poman

You know it's not easy to say anything on this subject because you're crazy enough now and I don t know if we discuss your problems on reasonable means.
I understand you and I think that I wouldn't be happy when my dear P500 Satellite had too dead pixel. As you already say it is very annoying to see it 24/7 on the screen.

Anyway, as you probably know support must follow certain rules and it's very sad if you have contacts with eager people. Please don t understand me wrong but perhaps your behavior on the phone was quite aggressive and on the other side people were completely non-professional.

In any case, this dead pixel problem is defined and how it works, you will find on the document from Toshiba:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9502LZ0000R02.htm

Below, you can find info on the other hand secured claim.

For 10 years I use Toshiba notebooks only and I can't tell how it works with other manufacturers but I n t think Sony or Samsung will give you new notebook due to pixel of a death. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don t think so.

    Bye and good luck

  • Dead pixel blackBerry Smartphones and the problem with the case of my BlackBerry 9780

    Hello world

Recently, I bought a BlackBerry 9780 by Vodafone Spain (23 December) and I found a few problems.

One of them is the presence of a dead pixel in the upper right and the feeling of the case a little weak in the left side that, when you touch it you can feel it creaks a bit.

I would like to know if the warranty of BlackBerry or Vodafone Spain will cover this problem or if some of the new users of this model of BlackBerry noticied some of these problems and knows how to solve this problem.

Sorry if they have problems with spelling. My usual language is Spanish .

    Thank you very much.

A dead pixel is a hardware fault, and there is no miracle for her.

Check if you can get a replacement.

Hi BuGfix, welcome to the forum,

You can enter your series and model number, (4290), parts search site; This will tell you the number FRU display which has been mounted at the factory.  You could then compare the FRU number with those appearing on the lists of parts, or, after the RUF here number and I am sure that members will be able to tell you which screen.

  • Portege R600 - black or dead pixels?

Hi all, have a serious problem with what appears to be suddenly occurring dead on my R600 pixels. See here:

    http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/9523/toshibar600deadpixels.jpg

It is actually the second time that this has happened. I got the R600 since November 2008, and in March 2009, I had the screen replaced because several lines of pixels black from appearing near the top of the screen.

Now it's August 2009 and the same thing is happening, but in the lower part of the screen. About two weeks, two thin lines appeared around an inch upward from the bottom of the screen and almost thick strip of black pixels will appear at the bottom of the screen, and also two big spots of black pixels at the bottom left of the screen that appeared last week.

The kicker is that the authorized after-sales service suggests that the screen is 'damaged' now because of the two tasks, but I tap anywhere on the screen! Because it is considered to be physically damaged, it would be outside the warranty coverage and would cost me $350-$ 700Cdn to replace the screen! I was capable of that escalate to a supervisor at Toshiba Canada and I'm supposed to hear within 2 to 3 business days.

Needless to say, I'm not impressed; seems almost every quarter, I encounter this problem and now Toshiba can't even fix it for me, even if it is no fault myself.

(Note: I use this laptop in an office/retail environment;) I protect and treat this unit of $3000Cdn as a baby and never put pressure on the screen. My R600 is either docked or in a case of Zeroshock and during the transport of it, I put it in a bag with padded back.)

Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on how I can solve this problem with Toshiba?

    THX,
    nomad416

PS by the way, is this forum especially for users of Toshiba Europe? I'm at the Canada and can't seem to find a forum on the site www.toshiba.ca.

    Hello

The display can be replaced and would be covered by the fair only if a certain amount of dead pixels would be visible on the screen.

  • Satellite U500-10z - dead pixel

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite U500-10z comet.com, and while booting it I saw the brilliant green pixel.
I had the front stuck pixels, but they were weak, so I lived with them - but it is very bright and causes problems when you look at the movies/i-player.

I tried the unsticking of pixel programs, massaging him, tapping, pressing, everything - but nothing works.
I can do, and although I believe need toshiba 8 stuck pixels for a return, the comet will be kinder.

As well as the stuck pixel, there's a white bright light (think it is backlight problem) or an other pixel stuck.

    Any help/advice is welcome-thanks

    Hello

I doubt that the ASP will replace the display under warranty.
I found this FAQ from Toshiba:

Information about the tolerance of failure of the technology and pixel of the screen for LCD screens
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9502LZ0000R01.htm

The sum of dead pixel depends on the resolution of the screen.
So you will need 8 dead for a replacement using a resolution of 1400 x 1050 pixels.

But maybe the laptop dealer could replace Notepad ask the guy in the shop!

  • Satellite 5100 - Question about dead pixels. Is - this really dead pixel problem?

    Hello

I've got Satellite 5100 603. There was a few pixels on the display. I don't know what is really dead pixel problem or not because the black area appears to be behind the screen. When I move the left and right sides, the black area move too much left and right (as if the black box is behind the pixels of the screen)! And I can say that all the pixels work OK when watching from the sides right and left of the screen (because the pixels that appears to be dead, changes in search of different angles).

Are there really dead pixels or is it another problem?
    Can I do about it?

FYI, I use my laptop for 2,5 years and there is no guarantee of course...

    Thanks for any help...

    Hello

Because of your description, it is not easy to give you a proper answer. On my old laptop, I had two dead pixels and it was easy to see the boot process. At the beginning, you can see home screen Toshiba and dead pixels are usually green (the background is black).

Sorry but there is nothing to do. You have to live with it because the display is very expensive.

  • Inspiron 17R SE 7720 - funny laptop computer (not dead) pixel LCD

Hey people, this laptop is less than 4 months old and yesterday began to show strange pixels on the screen (see screenshot of the website of Dell)

This pixelation presents itself not only on the desktop and in the games, but also in its display of the windows loading screen and also enforcement Dell Pre-boot system assessment. Know me this isn't a driver problem.  (However I've updated the Nvidia drivers).

These aren't dead pixels as they change or move according to what's displayed.

If I connect the laptop to an external display via HDMI, there is no pixelation, if I take a screen (screen printing) and look at this screen shot on another PC it is no pixellation there.

    Hi MrKG,

  • Dead Pixel 6s iPhone 16GB

I got my iPhone at the end of May.

I had to restore my iPhone and connect it to another computer, because when I tried to transfer my music to a new laptop, he stated that it could not be established with two different iTunes.

After putting my iPhone in about a week, he now has a pixel on the screen it is on the upper left side, but kind of more in the Middle, not under the name of carrier. There is also a blackish research brand. I don't know if it is also a pixel or something else.

It is not on a screen protector I've ever had a still.

On any page of safari or white page on the iPhone, it is clear and hard to miss the black mark and if you look carefully at the tiny pixel.

I have never dropped my phone and kept in excellent condition.

Apple will replace my iPhone? I have the Apple Care 1 year warranty.

The iPhone was bought directly from online from Apple for $1006 site, I didn't buy Apple Care +.

Will Apple Replace this screen for a price of replacing it for free?

    Thank you

Dead pixels are covered by the warranty. Take your phone to an Apple Store and they will test it. I had an iPad replaced for free as collateral because of dead pixels.

  • Satellite R630-13D: dead pixels and background noise

    Hello

I got my Satellite R630-13 t today about a week ago. I noticed that I have about 10 + dead pixels already - why? Is that what I can do to sort or should I send it back? I'm not particularly impressed by this when the laptop is barely served.

Also, I noticed that when I plug in my headphones there are noise white background if sound is enabled (or not music etc). I thought that this could be low for questionable helmet, but it happened with my two sets (both in decent enough ear phones.

If anyone has any advice on these issues that would be really appreciated.

I'm really enjoying this laptop, but these questions and the fan strong enough make me tempted to return it.

    Thank you very much

    Dear Sylvia

I recommend you contact your local dealer and explain the situation. He may be ready to help and share your laptop with a new one.

    Please try this first.

  • Satellite A660 - 14Q: Dead Pixel

    Hello

I am a french and my English is very bad, I'm sorry.

I would like to know, if you know a solution for a dead pixel (pixel due to lack of type II). Is it possible to repair this pixel or not? My warranty is still valid, and Toshiba could fix this pixel? Or I could fix that pixel and it stays on my screen.

Thank you and I'm sorry for my English.

    > I would like to know, if you know a solution for a dead pixel (pixel due to lack of type II). Is it possible to repair this pixel or not?

No, the dead pixels is not repairable.
Only a replacement display can help you, but the guarantee would cover only if your screen would show more dead pixels.

I googled a bit and found this Toshiba document:

  • Re: Satellite A660 - 12 X - dead pixel on the screen and how to increase the sound?

Hello 3 days ago (20 July), I bought this laptop and I have 2 questions: I have a dead pixel (red color) on the LCD screen, I tried to use the java applet:
http://www.JScreenFix.com/applet.php?width=1366&height=768 to remove it, but to no avail. I looked at your table of replacemente lcd but it didn't understand because my resolution was not on it. So my question is: how many pixels I must have because I complain?

Another question, windows 7 permanently "think" my DVD player is a mountable/no mountable option, which means that I can take it apart like a USB pen... no doubt I am lack of pilots... but I don't know which ones that...

And another little question: How can I increase my sound on this laptop? I'm a little unhappy with the sound quality, my previous laptop (of the older generation) had a better sound quality...

Thank you for you time :=)

    Hello

    > So my question is: how many pixels I must have because I complain?

More than that, you can read under
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9502LZ0000R01.htm
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB5400ZD0002R01.htm

To determine the number of pixels, you can use a program like, dead pixel tester.

    > Another question, windows 7 permanently "think" that my DVD drive is a mountable/no mountable option

Perhaps, you must delete the upper/lower filters:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB7801XL0000R01.htm

    > And another small question: How can I increase my sound on this laptop?

If the sound at high volume settings and it is still not enough, there is nothing to do. of course, you can install the most powerful speakers or use external one. You should try to update a sound card driver, I doubt, however, it helps you to:

  • Dead pixel - Suggestions?

Hello. I just got the Razr Maxx. I sacrificed my Droid 4 because I couldn't stand the battery life. I got mine on Ebay and they sent me my practically new maxx. Like the battery probably simply incredible. However, I was watching a Netflix video then I noticed a pixel which is light green and it really stands out. He just spent a couple of days and I don't know what to do. It's clearly a dead pixel. Anyone know fix sites or something or have an estimate on how much it will cost to replace the screen? And if I had warrenty on my droid 4 would it pass on this phone? I'm just trying to understand my options.

I went to Verizon about this and she saw that I had the Red limited edition and I told him I got it on ebay and I didn't even honestly it was only for Verizon employee or I'd be getting the limited edition, then she asked how much data I use and I told him around like 10 to 20 concerts because I watch netflix and youtube All the time. Then she told me I was the reason that Verizon got rid of the data unlimited and I was to blame. Began an argument with her and then I just left after having openly telling him that she was very rude and I don't want to really go back to my Verizon store and deal with this, but I like really this phone and now passing a sceen is perfect to have a dead pixel really bothers me and I need help with choice because I have no idea what to do.

I personally would call Motorola first. Is it is under warranty, because I think it will be, it will be your least expensive fix. If it is not you can go for other options. I would have rather Motorola repair my phone that Verizon will give you a CLNR. I would rather keep the phone I had again, thank you very much.

However, I understand that many people cannot afford to have it fixed and stuck with a CLNR. You never know what you will get with those. Someone else their returned for a reason. Maybe that they do not have as the phone, or maybe it has a pixel died on her and she didn't not was intercepted by means of tests. How much you will have to cross before coming to another one that is as beautiful as the one you bought?

You might have some luck as well. If you decide to get the insurance replacement you might as well get it fixed by Motorola for only $25 more. That's just my opinion. I hope this helps.
