Default mode IDE of DCIS vice, is the SATA controller?

HP Pavilion m7 - 1015dx, Windows 8 Pro, Insyde H20 BIOS F13.

I would spend my HARD drive to a Samsung 840 Pro series 512 GB SSD. This will be a clean install with Windows 8 Pro DVD and it has been recommended to switch the SATA of IDE controller to AHCI in the BIOS so that the PLATE to serve properly. Problem is when I enter the BIOS "Insyde H20 F13" it seems very limited, and I can't locate Sata to determine if I'm in IDE or ACHI. When I check the TRIM State via the command prompt, I get "disabledeletenotify = 0" which tells me that it is enabled. So does this mean that ACHI is enabled and I have more to worry about this topic?

It is also recommended to:

Enable write cache

Disable disk defragmentation

Disable disk indexing

Turn off System Restore

Disable the Page file "I have 16 GB of RAM"

Disable Hibernation

Disable the Prefetch and Superfetch

Disable ClearPageFileAtShutdown and LargeSystemCache

You agree with the foregoing during the passage of the HDD to the SDS?

Hello

Even if the option is not available in your Bios Menu, the default setting is AHCI.

You perform a clean installation on the SSD, I suggest to let Windows configure options of the player without any tweaking extra - for example, it should detect the installation is on a SSD and disable disk defragmentation etc.  The only possible exception is that you can disable hibernation.  You will always get opposing points of view on topics such as the pagefile on SSD (and a mechanical drive)-personally I'd always leave it enabled that the OS was designed to use this feature, and I've never really seen any benefit by disabling.

Kind regards

  • Aurora R4: newly installed SSD running in G2 / SATA300 - how can I 'persuade' the SATA controller to run at G3 /SATA600?

Good evening.  I was a little indecisive on the place where this post, but I think it's the right place.

I just replaced the main drive in my Alienware Aurora R4 with a SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD... works perfectly (and quickly).  I realized a clean Windows 10 Pro (x 64), generation to level to the latest version.  I'm not using RAID.

The SDS is properly installed and connected in the location SATA01.

This Aurora R4 has the "Dell", well actually "Intel" Patsburg 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller (revised A7), capable of handling G3 / SATA600.  However, two DVD players work to G1 / SATA150 and all four disks are running at G2 / SATA300.

I have the latest driver for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology technology, confirming a transfer rate SATA 3 Gb/s for my SSD (and the other three HARD drives).

How can I convince the computer I want to optimize my SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD performance, with the rate of transfer running at G3 / SATA600?

I searched on through the value of the library of web pages, but not found a solution.  I was hoping that it would be a BIOS problem (installed last), is a question of the SATA controller firmware, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  Technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver allows no fiddling, so I drew a blank there.

Knowledge advice would be warmly received, especially if you have a R4 Aurora that runs a G3 SSD / SATA600!

  • Compatibility of the SATA controller

I am in the planning phase of construction of an esxi 4.x system equipment and try to get compatibility info sata controller. I searched but the info I found are limited, I looked at the list of compatibility with vmware and they list only 3 controllers, I'm sure that more than these 3 will work.

Can someone point me to a site that lists the controllers sata that people have tried and worked on facilities there?

    Thank you.

The hardware compatibility list is on VMware / supported material supplier. You can see http://vm-help.com for a list of hardware not supported that worked. If it is at all a production environment use the VMware HCL. With hardware not supported you risk inconsistency or instability to every update / update.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know how to help you with the problem you are experiencing.

You can try W7 32 bit, but you have to hope that AMD has a 32-bit driver for the graphics card on your laptop because HP does not work.

  • There is an option in the bios to set the sata drive * IDE *-mode?

There is an option in the bios to set the sata drive * IDE *-mode?

    Grobi

    Hi dude

    That s a funny question.
No, there is no option in the BIOS!

Please understand that there are various interfaces to drive HARD. IDE and SATA.

There is a big difference between the two interfaces and the function of the HARD disk on the motherboard controller, you could use a HDD IDE or SATA HDD.

But you cannot connect a SATA HDD to IDE or IDE HDD controller for the SATA controller. This is not possible due to different hardware.
This is not possible and that's why these BIOS settings are not available or don t exist!

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro P200 - 17 c: Win XP won't load - installation of the SATA driver

    Hello

I have a satellite pro p200 - 17 c I've had good years, allways worked without any problem.

Last week when I booted the laptop, windows won't load and I find myself safe mode selection screen. No options whatsoever me to windows loading, I tried F8 and still nothing.

I tried the restore cd that reimagee the drive but I get the same thing, I tried a new hard drive, once again the same.

But if I try to load windows from an OEM to install that software does not because it is a sata drive and there is no floppy drive. I have an external floppy drive I use, but it is not known now.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Hello

Go to BIOS and set it to default settings.

In this case the SATA mode must be on AHCI. In this case the SATA drivers are required to install the Windows operating system. But as much as I know that Windows 7 already contains the SATA drivers if usually you don t had to add SATA drivers while OS installation the installation program.

However, here is a nice HowTo document that helps you add SATA drivers for Win XP installation disc.

  • Re: Satellite L300 - how to reinstall the SATA drivers?

    Hi all

I have a L300 I downgraded to XP. It runs with the SATA controller in compatibility mode and are sent here a lot, it's slow.

I read you need drivers intel for her and so I downloaded the and down them and had an error "your computer does not minimum requirements.

Tried in both safe mode and got the same error.

Now I could try to use nlite and I've used it before, but the file I have is an executable and not an inf and files related to a driver, so I don't know how to add it to nlite. I'd rather do not re - load again if possible.

So the simple question is how I install the AHCI SATA drivers so I don't have to run in compatibility mode.

    Thank you

What is better: to clone the HDD SSD before initial start-up
Or install Windows8 first, bring a USB recovery set, then make Windows8 recovery after the installation of the Virgin SSD in?
Thank you for your help in advance.

    Hello

It uses a single disc HARD must be the AHCI mode:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03846066

You can configure it as you want, including create whole recovery dics and THEN clone the disk SSD. After that trade them. This will save time and you can be sure that the rollback/uninstallation less pain if necessary.
