Dell Precision T7500 hangs at BIOS on reboot

Hello

My Dell Precision T7500 hangs after that screen "search for devices to HBA 0..." tells me that ROM is installed successfully. Thank for nothing. It just hangs.

I tried to restart, open the SAS configuration - there only one option, tried the F1 setup - this does allow me to enter any choice (so no diagnosis, etc.).

It started when I rebooted my system Ubuntu 13.04 after the installation of updates.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Ant

Hi chubbant,

Try resetting the CMOS battery.

Now try to boot in the BIOS. Restart the computer and press F2 on Dell logo. Under the heading "Disks" disable the SAS controller. Now click on 'Apply' and get out.

If the steps above does not work, move the hard drive to a SATA optical and 1 to SATA2.

The link above, click on manual and the Documentation Service Manual.

Before opening the chassis, I recommend you to unplug the power cable, press and hold the power button for a few seconds and release evacuate residual electricity.

Note: Open the chasy, if you are uncomfortable doing.

* NOTE: Please ensure that the power cable from the computer is disconnected before opening the chassis. Refer to the service manual for assistance to remove or replace the internal components of the computer.

Waiting for your answer!

    Howdy,

I have a DELL Precision T7500 with an eSata connector on the rear of the machine - all my existing SAS and SATA ports on the motherboard are taken and I want to connect an external SATA drive.  How to get power to the drive?

    Thank you for your question.

You need to use what we call a 'hard drive enclosure. What is the physical size of the hard drive external that you want to use? 2.5 inches? 3.5 inches?

The device draws power eSATA or USB below don't ports so no need of an additional power cable. He receives only 2.5-inch disks.

  • Dell precision t7500 dual processor compatibility.

Hi, I have a Precision t7500, currently with a single Xeon e5620 @ 2.4 ghz Quad core 12 MB of cache. With 32 GB 2x16gb 10600 sticks of RAM.  I just bought a 2nd processor, Board Assembly, heat sink and fan. Can I use one of the sticks of ram in each processor card? Also, could I use a combination of different processors? That would be an improvement recommended along the coast the Xeon E5620?

    Thank you very much.

Edit - P.s. A new installation of windows is necessary?

Read pages 17-19 in the Manual on the installation of RAM on the motherboard and riser for the dual CPU configuration.

Unfortunately, 32 GB of RAM is not a configuration supported with two processors, even if it is compatible with a single CPU configuration. So, you may need to purchase at least 2 x 8 GB of additional RAM to run two processors.

And note RAM must be double rank (DR) for use with two processors.

  • Hard drive not recognized by BIOS in Dell Precision T7910 workstation

    Greetings,

I recently acquired a Dell Precision T7910 workstation without all the hard drives installed, so I went to the store and buy a 240 GB Sandisk SSD put in the hard drive and then installed caddy caddy in port 0 (I also tried port 1 with the same results), and then I turned on the computer and it says "no drives found" press f2 to enter setup or press f5 for the diagnostics. I think there is probably a setting in the BIOS to configure the hard drive that I'm ignorant, so any help would be appreciated.

Is there a CTRL-R (or another command CTRL during POST) to enter a for the LSI controller configuration utility? Possible that if installed/enabled, ports are managed by the controller LSI instead of the BIOS. However, I have not a 7910 to watch... just go out how it worked normally.

What you use for storage in the PWS490? What the rest of the specification of it (processors, amount of RAM, etc.)? Have you tried to install ESXi on a USB key (a device 2 GB +, SanDisk Cruzer work)?

  • SLI on Precision T7500

    Hello.

I tried for the past few days get 2 GeForce GTX 670 cards working in SLI on my Precision T7500.

I have the cards installed in PCIe SLOT2 and SLOT4 and connected by a bridge standard SLI ASUS. I also configured the video BIOS as 'Option 1'.

The two cards are recognized. The system starts. I can connect the video cable to each card and it works. I see also two cards on the Windows Device Manager and nVidea Control Panel. However, I have not all the SLI settings there. I have run many tests and confirmed that SLI is actually not work. I use the latest version of 304 nVidea driver.

What Miss me? Can you please help me?

  • x 8 connection distance MXI causes conflicts with my on my Dell Precision T3600 PCI slot

    Hi all

The easiest to say is that I am migrating from a x 4 MXI explicit connection to an x 8 MXI express connection and when I do I get an error on the motherboard which is unable to load the single PCI slot.

Error in WIn7 64 bit Device Manager reports a yellow exclamation point

    Device "Intel (r) 82801 PCI Bridge - 244 properties"

The error listed in the device status box: "this device does not work properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) »

Unfortunately, I need this slot machine to run a card calendar to conjucton with PXI hardware. There is no anomaly when I used the x 4 connections with virtually the same loadout except for one Exchange a PXI-5122 (x 4 config) to SMU 5122 (x 8 config).

If I leave the MXI PCIe card in but do not connect to chassis PCI slot SMU (and the fine card appear.)

If I remove the PCI card into the slot, the error still occurs.

I swapped the x 8 card and NVidia graphics card without success (the 16 x only two slots).

I photographed the reader and removed the H310 Dell PERC RAID card and charged the RAID array RAID integrated Intel C600 and still no change.

I have updated BIOS to A07 to latest A08.

I updated the Intel Chipset at the latest on the Dell Web site.

I guess that I just wonder at this point if someone is able to run a x 8 MXI express at SMU with a Dell Precision T3600, T5600 or a T7600 chassis.

NI MAX report is attached as a text file.

After much work by NI Applications Engineer Kyle K, this problem has been resolved.

I'll post the solution to this PC dependent problem here, just in case it will help others in a similar situation.

It seems that Dell sometimes uses one default BIOS quite restrictive on the number of PCI bus in these (and other). By allowing several PCI bus, you will be able to list all the devices in the sacrifice of some memory available for OS 32 bit running on 4 GB of RAM. No problem for me because I'm under 64 bit OS.

Congratulations to Kyle even if he has not posted here yet for him give real congratulations.

  • The Dell Precision T7600 CPU temperature and fan speed

    Hi all

I recently got a Dell Precision T7600 workstation that has two processors Xeon E5-2620.  I checked the specifications of Intel and the maximum temperature for these processors apparently is 77.4 C.

However, when you run fairly intensive applications that can last a few days or so to analyze, I noticed that the CPU temperatures get much hotter than this no difference in the speed of the fan.  I used speedfan and CPUID to check the temperature/fan speed.  The highest I've seen the temperature was 90 c and the fan speed has been only 900 RPM.  He regularly sits on 70 c and still no response from the fans.

I find this a little hard to believe given that surely fans should be a little lower than 90 c action!  I checked the settings of the bios (version A05) and the fan speed control is on auto.  I have also run the diagnostics and it reported no problem.  The fans run, but I'm not convinced that is the speed controller!

    Is this normal?

I managed to re - install the A10 bios (it appeared to include a few things my already installed version is not ).

Anyway, tried to launch a number of things to keep the processor at 100% for a few hours.  It seems that the fan speed changes now and the maximum temperature of the processor, I was able to get (and briefly) was 72 C.  He had served mainly the mid to high 60s with fan speeds ranging between ~ 1000 - 1500 rpm, as required to keep it there.

I would say that the new BIOS has solved my problem.

  • Dell Precision 690 workstation several hard drives

I have a Dell Precision 690 and I am trying to connect the hard drives in the right order. The documentation says they must go into the HARD drive marked locations on the motherboard, but they do not work. The only slots that work are the SATA slots. I tested five SATA drives but I can only get three to work on three SATA slots instead of four locations of HARD drive and slot extra SATA as the book said to do.

I tried which helps the controller under the BIOS: has no significance if it is enabled or disabled. I determined that AHCI is unable to be activated, it must be ATA.

In the end, I need to have five total drives. Four in the slots in the HARD drive and the other in the SATA slot. (Which will be for operating system 1 SATA and SAS RAID 4). I realize that the HDD_0, 1, 2, 3 locations are to use SAS/SATA but I can't take too much work.

In addition, I don't ' know if this is important or not, but he has Windows XP Professional x 64. BIOS A05 and I know an update is A08, I did do that yet though.

Anywhere I can find that material assistance would be much appreciated.

    -E.Avalon (help).

Yes, there are three ports labeled SATA (0,1,2) and four ports labeled as HARD drive (0,1,2,3). The manual says to connect hard drives in HARD drive ports, then in the SATA ports. The first two SATA ports are for additional optical drives and the last port is used for a fifth hard drive.

I got in touch with several people in technical assistance from Dell and eventually find the right driver to install.

Because I don't have the OEM disc that came with the computer, I was doing a new installation of a Windows disc. I needed F6 (third party drivers) to activate the HARD disk ports until the installation has taken place. (And honestly I don't remember what the file was immediately.)

The AHCI could not be activated because the discs I have are Serial ATA disks and in the BIOS, there is a choice between ATA and AHCI.

The problem is solved and I feel like I could do a test on this computer and become a technician for her.
