DELL Precision T7500 eSata connector on the rear of the machine - how to get power to the drive?

Howdy,

I have a DELL Precision T7500 with an eSata connector on the rear of the machine - all my existing SAS and SATA ports on the motherboard are taken and I want to connect an external SATA drive.  How to get power to the drive?

Is there a map that I can buy.  I have PCI, PCI - X, 2 slots available on the motherboard PCI Express.

Should I consider that meanders on a power cable 4 wires from inside the machine?

Thanks in advance.  :)

Greetings MakesOwnWeather,

Thank you for your question.

You need to use what we call a 'hard drive enclosure. What is the physical size of the hard drive external that you want to use? 2.5 inches? 3.5 inches?

The device draws power eSATA or USB below don't ports so no need of an additional power cable. He receives only 2.5-inch disks.

    Hi chubbant,

    Try resetting the CMOS battery.

Now try to boot in the BIOS. Restart the computer and press F2 on Dell logo. Under the heading "Disks" disable the SAS controller. Now click on 'Apply' and get out.

If the steps above does not work, move the hard drive to a SATA optical and 1 to SATA2.

  • Dell precision t7500 dual processor compatibility.

Hi, I have a Precision t7500, currently with a single Xeon e5620 @ 2.4 ghz Quad core 12 MB of cache. With 32 GB 2x16gb 10600 sticks of RAM.  I just bought a 2nd processor, Board Assembly, heat sink and fan. Can I use one of the sticks of ram in each processor card? Also, could I use a combination of different processors? That would be an improvement recommended along the coast the Xeon E5620?

    Thank you very much.

Edit - P.s. A new installation of windows is necessary?

Read pages 17-19 in the Manual on the installation of RAM on the motherboard and riser for the dual CPU configuration.

Unfortunately, 32 GB of RAM is not a configuration supported with two processors, even if it is compatible with a single CPU configuration. So, you may need to purchase at least 2 x 8 GB of additional RAM to run two processors.

And note RAM must be double rank (DR) for use with two processors.

  • Hard drive not recognized by BIOS in Dell Precision T7910 workstation

    Greetings,

I recently acquired a Dell Precision T7910 workstation without all the hard drives installed, so I went to the store and buy a 240 GB Sandisk SSD put in the hard drive and then installed caddy caddy in port 0 (I also tried port 1 with the same results), and then I turned on the computer and it says "no drives found" press f2 to enter setup or press f5 for the diagnostics. I think there is probably a setting in the BIOS to configure the hard drive that I'm ignorant, so any help would be appreciated.

Is there a CTRL-R (or another command CTRL during POST) to enter a for the LSI controller configuration utility? Possible that if installed/enabled, ports are managed by the controller LSI instead of the BIOS. However, I have not a 7910 to watch... just go out how it worked normally.

  • Dell Precision 390, processors who work for an upgrade?

We have two Dell Precision 390. One with the Conroe E6300 and one with the Pentium 4 631, variety of Cedar Mill.

We have a lying here Q6600 processor, and an old Pentium D 830 dual core CPU, but it's be better performer than one heart P4.

Are the same motherboards in these two 390 s? I think that our E6300 could be improved to a Q6600, but the 390 with the P4, I'm not sure. They are all two socket 775. We already have the necessary correct heatpipe radiator for more hot processors.

    Thank you

I got the info from Dell today. There are two motherboards used in the 390. We support the line Cedar Mill and Conroe CPU. The other motherboard for 390 supports the Q6600, QX6700 and QX6800.

  • Dell Precision Workstation 690 with Win7-64 final. -3 TB hard drive?

I have a Dell Precision Workstation 690 with Win7 64 Ultimate installed.  I want to use a 3 TB drive.  How will I know if the SATA controller is compatible with a 3 TB drive. ???

How to know what Board motherboard or the SATA controller module I have?  When the computer starts first the BIOS detects SAS 5 Host Bus HBAO (?)  I forgot the exact name of disks while he finds the SATA drives.

    Greetings Tenoc,

Thanks for posting your question on the community.

The integrated SAS controller that comes with the Precision 690 name: 1068 LSI PCI - X - SAS 3 Gb/s controller. He is old enough, at this stage, and I'm sure that it only supports MBR (limit UP to 2 TB).

You can try adding in a newer card, like the Perc H710. Not sure if it works or not. There are various other cards you might try there.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and the

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive

  • How to open the Panel rear Dell Precision M4600

I want to open the back of the Dell Precision M4600 Panel so that I can increase the RAM and also put in a secondary hard drive. There is no documentation or a tutorial for that. Anyone can provide and guide on how to do it? I can't remove the battery, but here I'm lost. I see 2 screws on the back rear panel, but I don't know if it's the right screw to remove.

    Any help is appreciated.

    EDIT: Found the manual!

ADMIN NOTE: broken link has been removed from this post by Dell >

To add to the post of urlnotfound:

Remove the two screws under the battery holding the lid.

Slide, sometimes with a bit of force, the cover backward toward the back of the laptop.  Only, he moves about 1/4 "and is free to raise at this time here.

Note that there is only a single 2.5 "HDD place, and it's the hot-swapable one you see on the side (still to figure out how to remove it, level didn't seem to do anything - for the moment).  "2nd HARD drive" is actually a dedicated slot 'mSATA', which means minicards SATA.  It's a tiny, as the three PCI-express slot you see when you remove the cover.  They are very rare to buy the property.  I really wish that I bought a Dell offered, aftermarket cause they are next to the non-existent.  I found only 2 manufacturers, which are the same brands under the hood.  But they are only the size of 50mm.  I want a site of 70mm slit in the WWLAN PCI-Express slot, cause those are available up to 240 GB.

And FYI, devices with SATA II interfaces mSATA can get up to 240 to 250 MB/s read/write!  No, there are no mSATA SATA III that I could find.  Wanted for a month for them...

Note also that only two senior RAM sticks are available here.  I'm about to call Dell support for where are the othe two DIMM slots (very probably have to remove the background map).
