Designjet T520 printing with ink cartridge empty

can a t520 print (black) even if a color cartridge is empty or the printer stops all functions until the replacement of the cartridge?

We intend to replace a hp not by a T520 tracer (go maybe later us to the 2500 series) and especially question is a "decision point" for "buy or not.

Thanks for any official information on the subject.

Need your help! I bought my printer in the Middle East almost 2 years already Photosmart C4383 with ink cartridges 140 (black) & 141 (tricolor).  Since then, I have in my country now, resides in the Philippines and I always use the printer.  This week, I already have run out of ink Supply and decided to buy a.  Since then, I bought the printer in another country, I decided to check the site to ensure the compatibility of ink cartridges.  The results stated that the Photosmart C4383 belongs to the Photosmart C4380 series and it also says here that HP74 (black) & HP75 (HABs) are the compatible cartridges for the printer in my area.  Since then, I always have the tricolor ink cartridge available 141, I decided to buy only the HP74 (black) ink cartridge.  But when I place the HP74 (black) ink cartridge for my printer, I was surprised to see in the display as the ink cartridge, I bought is not compatible with the printer. I was so disappointed because if I can't use the product then I lose money and and check again and again in the sights of compatibility of ink in my area said but still the same thing as HP74 (black) is the compatible ink cartridge and also saw a result stating to "reset the printer to work in my current position."  Need your help to enlighten me and give me the right solutions to these problems and the steps how to make good sense.   I need to use my printer so badly. Thank you.

You will need to Contact HP and require a reset of regionalization.  It will take you have access to your computer and printer so that on the phone with HP agent.  If the C4383 is a model only sold in some regions it is not possible to have the region reset.

  • E-all-in-one printer, HP Deskjet 3520: HP Deskjet 3520 printer with black cartridge 364

I tried to insert a 364 black cartridge in the printer. The 364XL black fits perfectly, but the 364 ordinary cartridge seems to be too narrow to fit.

Am I stupid? Is there a technique for the Assembly of the 364 cartridge?

    Help please.

The regular black cartridge must be installed in the center of the space, with an equal distance on each side.

Additionally, make sure that you use the black cartridge 364 (with the symbol of the Pentagon) rather than the Photo-364 (with the butterfly or butterfly knot symbol).  The photos below show the 564 cartridge, but is the same for the 364.

364 black cartridge has a Pentagon on the cartridge but a circle on the box...  The Photo cartridge has a butterfly on the cartridge and a camera on the box node.

  • OfficeJet pro 8600: printing with black cartridge only

I just replaced the black ink cartridge (the other colors are exhausted and still in the machine) but I want to just print in black, but it won't let me - please advise

This isn't what you want to hear, but you will need to replace the color cartridges as well.  The 8600 Pro Officejet has separate ink supplies and a replaceable (but expensive) print head.  If the printer works (in black only) with one or more color exhausted it can damage the print head.  To avoid damaging the printer hangs printing if one or several colors are exhausted.

  • Always printing black ink cartridge is not after several clean using your own ink cartridges

I have a HP Deskjet 3050 All in One J610 series printer.

    I use Windows XP.

I'm a Newbie as HP printers are concerned, but some have experience troubleshooting former HP model a parent.

The black cartridge is not printing.   For various reasons, I have not used the printer for about two months.  So far, the printer worked fine, and in fact it is still using the cartridges that came with the printer.  I mention these points here because I realize or the other or both can be part of the issue.

When I sent a document to the printer, printing was uneven.  I checked ink levels and black and color cartridges were about the third two full (before I used the print head cleaning utility.

After cleaning the printheads, I tried again and this time the impression was the same, but in a shade of light blue, which was very low.  However, the original document is in a police man and a shade of gray, so perhaps he used ink cartridge color and not black?

Research using the viewer help from HP does not help because it implies that you don't know how to locate the ink cartridge Clean Utility.

After searching on Google to match the questions, I tried a second and then a third level of cleaning.  And because a post mentioned have to do eight times, I did a little more luck.  When the page is printed at the end of the cleaning cycle, the colors come out crisp and even.  There is no black bloc... is there?  I can't find an image showing a what print perfect following cleaning should look like.

Additional to clean using the utility attempts do not seem to have worked and could even have been counterproductive because when I tried to print another document, and this came out so pale that I first thought that it is a blank page.

I used the utility to re-estimated ink levels and the color is always about two third full, while black has dropped a little down, but is still above half full.  There is a check/tick showing for black ink and color.

Messages on similar questions suggest that the replacement of the cartridge does not solve the problem and that heads should be cleaned manually.

Should I try to clean the heads manually?  Who was mentioned on the threads and even on the HP support but as another option for a very different model.   I watched some demos on You Tube, but they are for different models of HP, in which they remove the printheads and clean them in a solution provided in the trade which I think is available in the United Kingdom, or with water!

I would be grateful for any advice as to whether I should remove the black cartridge and clean heads printing and, if so, if someone could point me to a link where this is illustrated step by step, video, or shown in the logical steps.

In the meantime I'll go off and buy a new black cartridge, but if it's the heads need cleaning, I'll have to do anyway.

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

I would like to manually clean the contacts on the cartridges and the printer. The process is described for your model of printer in step 3 of this document here.  The rest of the document does not apply to your question, but it does a great job giving instructions step by step on the manual cleanup process and materials needed to use lists. Manual cleaning will help ensure that the accumulation of contacts is not the cause of the issue of the print quality that you are experiencing. I hope this helps.

I have to uninstall and reinstall the printer software?

It should be written on the old software. When you are rested and ready to tackle the issue once again let me know.

  • Printer does not print with new cartridges

After I changed the cartfidges the printer does not print anything. No black and no color. Out of curiosity, I noticed that the old cartridges were still half full because I compared the weight. So I put the inside once again but not print. Only a few pale almost unreadable characters. This happens usually when the printer is dirty then I ask for a cleaning. But I'm still without printer.

My printer is a HP 980CXi and I have now, I was very satisfied. I've heard that some printers are programmed to be used a period determined, while they are blocked. If this is the case. Please be so kind to tell me does not search for a solution. Too bad I bought a pair of cartredges for nothing.

    Hello Yaio,

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that you experience a problem when you attempt to print in black ink and color.

First of all, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a bar/power strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer for example, but it is intended for HP products in general. Please click the link which explains the problems when connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power.

I also suggest that you take a free cloth and some bottled water and clean the contacts on the ink cartridges as well as contacts in the printer and then dry them off, reinstall the ink and try a test print.

If troubleshooting doesn't help not solve your problem, then I would say call the HP Technical Support to see all the other possibilities for you. If you call in North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, please click here: click here.

    Thanks for your time.

  • 6510 leaves suddenly printing black ink - cartridge is new

    Hello

My Photosmart 6510 suddenly left black printing.  I replaced all cartridges, including the black a couple of weeks, and it was working fine until I went to print something from yesterday. Color work, but not black.

I did everything on the link that has been suggested for troubleshooting and the unit is out of warranty of course.

Are the only changes that took place between the time where it worked and did not work: 1) I installed Windows 8 and 2) I tried to make a copy of a label of the bottle, if the lid did not seal.  The first copy was dark, so I tried again and it's while doing the copy that it has just printed a page of black streaks.

Since then, no black although when I made the diagnosis, it prints grey black.

Thanks for your suggestions or help!

I've tried EVERYTHING!  I finally tried printing on a Pope of photography and it worked, I went to 'preferences', then 'quality of paper' and changed other papers photo instead of plain paper.  I have kept the main tray paper source, but replaced by "draft" so that it doesn't take too long to print.  It prints very well now, but you may need to do this each time you print something.  It works at least for the moment.  It's certainly the last HP all I'll never spend money on.  The last HP laptop, I had was a lemon and through too much with it.  Hope this helps you...

I tried it on vellum paper and 4mill inkbond and with the settings of all the 'best '.

been through the book and tried everything I think.

    Hello.

Not easy to understand, but I guess the print length is too short.

If you go into the setup, you should have the quality - calibration paper feed maintenance.

Run calibration in advance paper create and test with new impression.
